Link flash text to center frame
Hello,
I generated a flash text with dreamweaver. This text should
be a link that opens in the center target frame. The problem is
that I cannot choose the center frame as target (only self, parent,
blank, top).... . What can I do to make the link open in the center
frame?
Thanks in advance,
Jeremy
that' just the code to place the swf file. You need to get
into the .fla file...
However, I think I see what you mean... if you're creating
this entirely in Dreamweaver, then you probably don't have access
to the actual actionscript. It's also limiting when you just place
an flv within Dreamweaver because you can delete skins and many
other things.
how did you generate the text animation within
Dreamweaver?

How to link a text box to an anchor frame in the master pages?
Ok, as the title states, we are trying to figure out if it is possible to link a text box to an anchor frame in the master page. When you look at our Master Page layout, we have a text box in the upper left hand corner of the left hand page, this is used for our machine serial numbers. Then we have an anchor frame that automatically fills out the figure number. Let's say I have pages 2 & 3 (left & right), they have a S/N at the top of the page for the machine, then pages 4 & 5 have a different S/N. If I have to add more pages in between pages 2 & 3 (bumping the current 4 & 5 to 6 & 7), the anchor frame bumps to the next page, but the S/N text box doesn't. Is there a way to fix it so that they both move to the next page? Thanks for the help.
P.S. I can include images and other info if needed.I have included a two pictures that should help me explain.
Master Page:
This is the master page set up, the "Page Text Box" has the flow set to "B" while the S/N text box has the flow set to "A". This setup is for our parts manuals, the left page is usually an illustration while the right page is usually a parts list. The text box, anchored frame & paragraph tag are empty in the master page set up. The "page text box" has a flow of "B" and the "S/N text box" has a master flow of "A".
Body Page 1:
When we create new pages, the paragraph tag automatically fills in the figure title on the left page, then we add an anchor frame within the text box to hold the illustration. You will notice that I added in a "test" serial number at the top of the page. Now if I need to go back and add two pages before this, the anchor frame, illustration and parts list will move to a new page, but the S/N text box will not. The "Before S/N TBD" would stay on the original page.
This is what happens, the text box containing the illustration and the parts list "bump" to the next page, but the S/N text box does not. So the question we have is there a way to link that text box to the page so when we create new pages the S/N text box moves with the illustration.
Does this help?
Thanks for the assistance Error7103. -

Same way as you do with any other link: with CSS.

Flash text and flash buttons in DW CS4
Hi,
I have installed DW CS4 on my pc with Vista Home Premium 64
Bit...I have edit my website homepage and I have discovered that I
can't edit all flash text and buttons that I have created with DW
CS3! I have see that the adobe has removed from CS4 version this
option! So, now how I can resolve this problem??
I have try to install also the CS3 version but I don't
understand because I can't no more activated it from internet or
phone option!
I'm very angry for this, now I have to recreate from the

perhaps to buy also the Flash CS4 version for the solution? is this
the new idea of adobe with their new CS4 version?> I'm very angry for this, now I have to recreate from the

It was a poor choice on Adobe's part to ever include such an
option, and on
your part for using it. Think about it -
1. Some people don't have Flash installed - what do they do?
Especially
consider those people who are browsing from a corporate
internet where Flash
is not allowed by the IT staff.
2. Search engines may not parse Flash links - your site will
not be
spidered unless you have redundant HTML links
3. Screen assistive devices don't parse Flash links - what
will those users
do?
4. DW cannot maintain links within a Flash movie, so if you
move or rename
a linked file, your navigation will break - what will you do?
You will have
to remake those buttons.
It's almost always a very bad idea for these reasons.
The solution is to make graphics to replace the Flash
elements, or just use
CSS styled text.

Android, backspace doesn't work properly in a flash.text.TextField
Hello,
I have a bug on my Nexus 5 Android 4.4 Air 4.0.
when I scroll the text in the textField and I select the text (in my example near "subclass" word), the TextField get focus, if I put on the backspace key, the character deleted is the previous character the first time, and if I put again on the backspace key, the caracter deleted is the first character and not the previous character.

My site (redirect from www.johnbowlby.com) home page uses a
lot of DW flash text elements with links to other pages on the
site.
Lately, a white box outline appears around any of the Flash
text elements on the page. User has to click once to get the flash
element to show the rollover color and then again to activate link.
This is new. Previously (i.e. for 2 years) the Flash text has
changed color on rollover and gone to the assigned link on a single
click.
Can someone explain and help me stop this. Annoyong and looks
terrible.

Flash Text not displaying certain fonts
Thanks as always…
I am trying to use Flash text for some headings, but after an
hour of pulling my hair out I've just realised it will only display
certain fonts, such as Helvetica etc.
I added the font I want to use to my font list but it still
does not display…
I'm using MX on OSX 10.3.9.
Any ideas? Thansk.

Is your text in a dynamic text box, or static text box in
flash?
I don't think the issue concerns the "true-type" or not
"true-type" font.
In Flash, when text is part of a dynamic text box (which I
assume is the case in your situation),
then the font works just like in an html page:
if the font is installed on the computer it will show, if
not, it won't. The way around this, is to
embed the font data in the authoring flash file, and link it
to the dynamic text box, via actionScript.
So if you cannot work on the authoring Flash file with Flash
MX or Flash8, and if indeed we're
talking about a dynamic text box, your only option is to use

Flash text won't display from web
I cannot for the life of me get my "flash text" to work in
Dreamweaver. It shows up just fine in the "preview in browser"
mode, but once I put on the web, it fails to show up in any
computer I have tried--including the one I made it in where the
preview worked.
Any ideasPost a link to the page, please.

Trying to center frame, but affects my Robot method
Hi, I am using a robot to take a screen shot of the users screen, which will then display on top of the screen with a piece of text printed. This works fine, but when I try to center the frame that holds the information the background is replaced with a grey box (with my text in). Is there any way I could get around this at all? Here is the relevant code, all help is very much appreciated. Thank-you :)
public void createPanel()
JFrame frame = new JFrame();
frame.setUndecorated(true);
frame.setLayout(new BorderLayout());
MyDisplay test = new MyDisplay(frame);
test.setLayout(new BorderLayout());
frame.add(test, BorderLayout.CENTER);
JLabel label = new JLabel("This is just a test");
test.add(label, BorderLayout.CENTER);
frame.pack();
frame.setSize(500, 200);
// make sure you pack and/or set size first...
Dimension dS = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize();
Dimension dF = frame.getSize();
// make sure it's not off screen
int x = (dS.width/2)-(dF.width/2);
int y = (dS.height/2)-(dF.height/2);
if(x < 0) x = 0;
if(y < 0) y = 0;
frame.setLocation(x, y);
frame.setVisible(true);
startRobot();
public void startRobot()
try {
robot = new Robot();
Rectangle r = new Rectangle(500, 200);
background = robot.createScreenCapture(r);

Flash text "Invalid file name" error in Dreamweaver
I'm trying to create some flash text in Dreamweaver. But
after I've formatted the text in the dialog box and hit save, I get
the message "invalid file name" for my top.swf name. Can't figure
out why I'm getting the message, and it's not working. Anyone???
Working on this for a class and need to get my assignment done!
Thanks in advance!> Too funny, thanks for the laugh. The name I'm trying to
save it as is top.swf.

I'm guessing there is a "funky" character in the hd name or
in the path down
to the "local site folder"
please do this:
open a new file using File->New
--->do not save this file<---
type some text, select it, and make a link to something in
this site using
the property inspector folder icon to bring up the "browse to
file" dialog
box.
view source, copy that link, and paste into your reply.

Problem with embedding Flash Text/HTML Code
Hey all, im new to DW and just created a html page with a
black background and a picture. I also added a flash text called
"Enter Forum" by using "Insert>Media>Flash Text"
When i copy and paste the code that is generated in the
"Code" section/tab on to my server in the index/html and go to view
my site it is not there. I uploaded the .swf file to my server
also, i have played around with the coding a bit to see if i was
doing anythng wrong but nothing works. Below is the code DW renders
to me. I simply copy and paste this code that DW renders and paste
it in to my server's index.html (Main Page) file. I checked the emd
src and all thats correct.
HTML Code that DW generates me:

"Unknown error" when trying to save Flash Text
I get the message "unkown error" every time I try to save
flash text. Help topic in Dreamweaver 8 outlines the steps to take,
but not what to do if it doesn't work. I followed a thread for this
problem in the knowledge base, but it suddenly stopped with no
apparent solution. Please help!
P.S. I did as one responder suggested and opened a new page,
typed some text, and linked it to something in my root folder. File
path is: file:///Macintosh HD/Applications/Macromedia Dreamweaver
8/East Meets West/eastmeeetswest.htmlAre you using mac os?
as a guess from years of this- there is a "funky" character
in the hd name,
your username, or a folder name in the path to this local
site folder. Dw
trips up on the character and can't resolved the path to the
local site
folder.
so it doesn't create Flash Text or Flash Buttons and gives an
Undefined
Error.
And will give constant nags that "the selected homepage is
not in the local
site folder"
please do this.
open a new dw document using File->new
-->don't save this file<--
type some text, select it, and using the property inspector's
Browse to File
folder icon make a link to this site's "homepage"
view the code, copy the link code and paste into reply.
it should be an absolute full hard drive path like this:
href="file=///hdname/Users/username/folder/folder/file.html"
technote: "File or folder name in Mac OS may break
Dreamweaver
functionality"

Flash text target _self problem
I am a graphic artist using Mac (Leopard) and have uploaded
my Dreamweaver-created portfolio to a personal web page at Comcast.
I have created 3 flash text buttons (HOME, PORTFOLIO, and RESUME)
and the target is _self. When navigating my pages should switch to
new pages but instead, new pages just keep getting added. This
works OK when I preview it in Dreamweaver, but online it keeps
adding new pages.
http://home.comcast.net/~susurrus/susan/> 3 flash text buttons (HOME, PORTFOLIO, and RESUME)
Bad idea. If you want to use Flash for navigation, consider
this -
1. Some people don't have Flash installed - what do they do?
2. Search engines don't parse Flash links - your site will
not be spidered
3. Screen assistive devices don't parse Flash links - what
will those users
do?
4. DW cannot maintain links within a Flash movie, so if you
move or rename
a linked file, your navigation will break - what will you do?
It's usually a very bad idea for these reasons...
> and the target is _self.
You cannot apply HTML attributes to Flash elements.

Hello
I'm trying to create some basic flash text, but everytime I
try to save the "swf" file within Dreamweaver CS3's "Insert Flash
Text" dialog box I get the following error message,
"welcome.swf is an invalid file name. Please enter a
different name."
and i continue to get the message regardless of whatever
name I use.
I'm using a Mac platform.
Can someone help?
thanksHe's asking for the poster to copy the code and paste it into
a reply to
this forum so that we can all see what is happening.
Just so you'll know, using Flash text is always a bad idea -
the whole thing
is being removed from DWCS4 as a result.

Never name your hard drive/computer using an apostrophe.
It'll drive you and
DW mad. Of course, we cannot see that file since it is on
your hard drive.
