  • OWB 10g -- Can't Create Database Links for Data Source and Target

We installed OWB 10g server components on a Unix box running Oracle 10g (R2) database. The Designer Repository is in one instance. The Runtime Repository and the Target are in another instance. The OWB client component was installed on Windows XP. We create a data source module and a target module in OWB. The data source is on another Unix box running Oracle 9i (R2) database. We try to create database links for data source module and target module, respective. But when we created and tested the DB links, the DB links were failed.
For the database link of data source, we got the following error message:
    Testing...
    Failed.
    SQL Exception
    Repository Error:SQL Exception..
    Class Name: CacheMediator.
    Method Name: getDDEntryFromDB.
Repository Error Message: ORA-12170: TNS:Connect timeout occurred
For the database link of target , we got the following error message:
    Testing...
    Failed.
API2215: Cannot create database link. Please contact Oracle Support with the stack trace and the details on how to reproduce it.
    Repository Error:SQL Exception..
    Class Name: oracle.wh.ui.integrator.common.RepositoryUtils.
Method Name: createDBLink(String, String, String, String).
    Method Name: -1.
Repository Error Message: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00933: SQL command not properly ended.
However, we could connect to the two databases (data source and target) using the OWB’s utility SQL Plus.
Please help us to solve this problem. Thank you.

As I said prior the database link creation should work from within the OWB client (also in 10).
Regarding your issue when deploying, have you registered your target locations in the deployment manager and did you first deployed your target location's connector which points out to your source?
I myself had some problems with database link creations in the past and I can't remember exactly what they were but it had something to do with
    - the use of abnormal characters in the database link name
    - long domain name used in as names.default_domain in my sqlnet.ora file
What you can do is check the actual script created when deploying the database link so see if there's something strange and check if executing the created script manually works or not.

  • Error in "Checking Availabe Space for the DB2 UDB for Unix..." phase

    Hello,
We are in the middle of an Upgrade proyect from R/3 4.6C (kernet 4.6D EXT) to ECC 6.0.
As a first step we are doing an Heterogenous System Copy to migrate from servers with HP-UX B11.11/Informix 9.4 to servers with AIX 5.3/DB2 UDB 8.
We already did the database import with no errors. When we are installing R3 4.6C in the target server we are getting u201CMemory Fault (coredump)u201D error in the u201CChecking Availabe Space for the DB2 UDB for Unix, Windows Tablespacesu201D phase.
    Any advice will be appreciated.
    Best Regards
    Francisco

  • Adobe acrobat for unix/linux

hello, I can't seem to find any downloadable trial adobe acrobat 3.x for unix/linux in the download page.
can anyone provide me the correct link to download it? many thanks!
also I need to convert PDF version from 1.2 to 1.4 in Linux environment. Can anyone suggest suitable product that I can use? Thanks!

There are a lot of differences going from PDF 1.2 to PDF 1.4. But
these are all extra things that MIGHT appear. Every PDF 1.2 file is a
valid PDF 1.4 file, and the idea of converting them really makes no
sense from a practical or administrative point of view. (Of course,
if you had PDF 1.4 files and th company standard was PDF 1.2 it would
    be a different story).
Adobe have some Linux software. For example, FrameMaker and the
    Distiller Server product.

  • 9iDS for Linux - OWB, Disco Admin etc are missing from download

I've just installed 9iDS release 2 on a laptop running SuSE 8.0 and Oracle 9i release 2 Enterprise Edition.
As my work primarily involves 9i database and OWB 9i, I was to say the least dissappointed that 9iDS for Linux does not include OWB, or for that matter Disco Admin or Reports Admin.
When you go to download 9iDS for Linux, the download page says "This download includes the full distribution of Oracle9iDS", and the previous page (which lists all the elements of the download, next to the links for Windows, Linux, HP-UX and so on) does not in any way indicate that OWB is not included in the download.
There is, separately downloadable, an 'early adopters' release of OWB for Linux, but this does not include the bridging technology to Discoverer, Express and 9i OLAP. As it's 'early adopted' presumably it's not too stable.
Has anyone used this? Has anyone tried using a laptop purely with Linux on it as a way of using 9iDS? Does anyone at Oracle know when a full release of 9iDS, with all the elements found in the Windows release, will be made available? In the meantime, Oracle should clearly state on the Linux download page that not all the elements of 9iDS are found in the Linux version.

  • Wheres my Unix OWB 10 G

Hi all, I am possibly one of the few using OWB on Solaris.
When can we expect to see the Unix OWB 10G ???
No good having only the Dev Client for 10G.
I want to upgrade my server components, although, Im not going to use the upgrade script, the version from 9.04 to 9.2 did not work, so I suspect trying to run it from 9.2 to 10G will not work either.
Dont get me wrong the script did run to completion, the problems started when you tried to modify the target schema using the wizards, it kept saying you need blah runtime, basically it really screwed up the runtime to the point I had to manually remove all OWB objects and start from scratch.
So assure me please, someone upgrade from OWB 9.2 to 10 G on solaris, then use the 10 Runtime to drop a target schema(the 9.2 upgraded one), add a target schema (the previously upgraded dropped one), and see if it does not give the error about needing a 9.2 runtime.
Next drop/remove the upgraded 9.2/10 G runtime platform, and all targets.
Reinstall the runtime, under same user, reinstall all targets. Try deploying all objects again from design client.
Hmm, case 2, Install a new 10 G runtime into Solaris DB, use same target schemas as the 9.2 platform. Parallel operation along side existing 9.2.
attempt changes using 9.2 and 10G, any runtime platform object confilcts???
If you can say OWB upgrade from 9.2 to 10 G is fine given those cases, then I am happy upgrading my production OWB systems should be somewhat easier.
Oh and again, when is Solaris 10 available ?? :)
    Thanks,
    Richard.

    Hi Richard,
Not sure what issues you ran into with the 904 migration, but if there are any I hope you contacted support so we can fix it.
We tested the 9 to 10 conversion extensively and in our cases that worked. We tested with many cases, and if there is one in your case that does not work please do log a tar so we can improve this for our users.
I will try the upgrade tomorrow and see what happens if I do drop a target.
On your second case, I'm not sure how you can consider using the same schemas on the same box as running in parallel? I think you will run into fundamental problems if you run 10g and 9.2 into the same schemas. How can OWB figure out which table to write into, and you can't have 2 incarnations. I would not recommend you doing this. I also think this is a fairly unconvential way of running parallel...
But I will try to replay some of the things you mentioned.
On the Solaris one, just to warn you ahead of time, Solaris will be only supported for 64 bit OS. The reason in database support and therefore OWB support is limited to 64 bit Solaris as of 10g RDBMS and OWB 10g (basically the same tech stack).
Solaris is being addressed as we type, so I would expect the UX platforms to all come available within the next couple of weeks.
    Thanks,
    Jean-Pierre

  • Need the link for weblogic 64bit for windows7

    Hello.
I'm planning to install fusion middleware 11g 64 bit on my new PC with windows 7 64bit.
After I surfed oracle website, I couldn't find the link for weblogic 10.3.2 for 64 bit windows. I read that it's inside the generic one. But for the generic and inside the documentation we can see that is related only to unix.
    Can somebody help plz ?
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Hi
I have windows 7 64 bit. ( I knew that the 64 bit is not yet certified for Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g : http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/files/fusion_certification.html)
I need to install the weblogic server and Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g.
Any directions about the correct versions and (32/64) bit will be much appreciated.
I tired the version 11.1.1.2 (x86-64) after successfull insallation of weblogic server JDK 64 bit (I passed the right parameters). When installing the 11.1.1.2, it comes to a stage and sleeps even I left my laptop for 1 hour after the sleeping stage but nothing happened.
Shall I install the weblogic server JDK 32 bit, and try the 11.1.1.2 x86 only ?
Any help will be much valuable ..
    Thanks,,,

I’m sorry to hear that there is an error message displayed in your U410 Laptop while installing “Utilities and SDK for Subsystem for UNIX-based Applications in Windows 8”, make sure you are installing this application as an Administrator User, if the issue is same even in this user account, I suggest you to download the package again and right click in the downloaded file select “Run as administrator” to get it installed in administrator mode, below is the link to download the SDK package:

  • Symbolic links for executables

I installed nmap but it is not in my path. Where is the proper place to make executable with out having to use the whole path? I understand how to get it working and was just wondering if there is a typical location that Mac users put symbolic links for all users to be able to execute.
    Thank you.

Normally, /usr/local/bin/ so updates don't delete them. Then, add it to your $PATH variable in .bash_profile, using:
    *export PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/bin*
If you're using another shell, then modify it accordingly. BTW, Unix queries should be posted to that forum in OS X Technologies.
    For Kenichi Watanabe:
Unix executables shouldn't be put into /Applications.

  • Link for unzip utilities not working

    Hi,
The link for Unzip utilities is not working. Throws page cannot be displayed.
    http://updates.oracle.com/unzips/unzips.html
    Thanks,
    Amardeep Sidhu

I'm don't think this is even anything new, I seem to recall similar links being bad going back several years (and pointing it out to no effect, and I think I've had to unzip things on Windows for unix...). I see on my hp-ux there is an unzip at $ORACLE_HOME/bin (for 10.2.0.x), but of course, you have to get there. I'd be curious if the one in the XE download would work on other windows machines ($ORACLE_HOME/bin/unzip.exe). My guess has been there are enough workable unzips and pkunzips floating about that no one has bothered to fix the link.
