Link from Discoverer (Plus/Viewer) to Reports?

Is it possible to create a link from a cell on a Discoverer sheet to an Oracle Reports report? I.e. doubleclick on cell value "A" and run report with "A" as parameter?
Regards,
-Haakon-

Access links should be like this.
Discoverer Plus - http://<your domain>:<port>/discoverer/plus
Discoverer Viewer - http://<your domain>:<port>/discoverer/viewer
<port> default port is 7778.
Try now.
Your Administrator is responsible for you to provide the links for both. Check with him.

  • Discoverer report - Output from Discoverer plus is not the same as Discoverer desktop

    As a part of Upgrade project we are migrating the discoverer reports from 11i (11.5.10.2) to R12 (12.1.3) .After migrating to R12, for a custom discoverer report the output given by discoverer desktop is correct (24 rows for a scenario). But the report output from Discoverer plus does not show the credit transactions (2 rows). The output from Discoverer plus shows only 22 rows (24 - 2), which is incorrect. The query is the same in Discoverer desktop and Discoverer plus.
    Please let me know why these transactions that are appearing when the report is run from discoverer desktop are not appearing in discoverer plus. Is there any setup in discoverer plus for this?
    Regards,
    Brajesh

    Pretty hard to answer a question like this.  Best bet would be to copy the existing discoverer plus book and start removing conditions, fields, etc until those two rows from desktop show up and see if you can work it out.

    Starting Discoverer Plus/Viewer from menu item in Oracle Applications R12 errors.
    Here is some general config information that is suspected to be the issue.

    2. Running Discoverer Plus/Viewer over HTTP.
    3. Calling menu item that calls a function to start Plus/Viewer.
    Function Definition called by the menu item is listed blow.

    Fact: Starting Discoverer Plus using a URL works fine in the browser. The login page comes up and I can look in to Plus.
    The page that dose a redirection to start the Plus applet or Viewer web page fails with this error in IE 7.
    Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
    Most likely causes:
    You are not connected to the Internet.
    The website is encountering problems.
    There might be a typing error in the address.

  • Export to EXCEL 4m Discoverer Plus/Viewer doesnt retain Header Formatting ?

    Hi,
    I am trying to export reports from Discoverer Plus and Viewer to XCEL
    but the Header's Formatting like Bold and Background Color etc are
    not being exported as seen in Plus.
    Could you please advice on how to make this happen.
    Thanks,

    i tried this option..but the problem is as follows
    Excel Export:+ The header comes like this
    Report Name Company Name Date : 22-APR-10 Page: 1
    Column1     Column2     Column3     Column4                     Column5                                     Column6                                                     Column7

    122124     9752          7 METRO NORTH     716 MIDWEST REGION     DODGE CITY/ANDERSON TOYOT      LEXUS OF ROCKFORD
    HTML Export:+ The header comes like this
    Report Name                                 Company Name
    Date : 22-APR-10                            Page: 1

    122124     9752          7 METRO NORTH     716 MIDWEST REGION     DODGE CITY/ANDERSON TOYOT      LEXUS OF ROCKFORD
    i.e the export to HTML is retaining the format but it is putting the heading into multiple cells..there by making it look bad when opened in Excel.
    Wheras in EXCEL export it doesnot retain formatting like Bold,etc it merges all the cells of teh first row and is putting it there which is much better to view.
    Is there anything we can do about it ??
    Thanks

  • Default the sender name while sending email from discoverer 11g viewer

    Hi,
    Can we put a default value of a sender in the email which are sent from discoverer 11g viewer.??

    Hello
    Yes, you can do this but you have to edit one of the UIX files to do it. The following is taken from my new Discoverer 11h Handbook which will be out later in the year.
    If you want to force users to send Discoverer reports from a prespecified e-mail account, use the following workflow:
    Locate this file: $MIDDLEWARE_HOME/user_projects/domains/ClassicDomain/servers/WLS_DISCO/tmp/_WL_user/discoverer_11.1.1.2.0/<tmpfolder>/war/Email.uix
    NOTE: In my system the name of the tmpfolder was 51oeh7. You may have a different name for <tmpfile> on your system and so may need to do a search for Email.uix.
    Make a safe backup of Email.uix.
    Find the following line and add the information in bold, changing [email protected] with your default email address:
    <contents>
    <messageTextInput required="yes" name="sender" disabled="true"
    tip="[email protected]" columns="40"
    prompt="${uix.data.nls['email.text.sender']}" text="[email protected]"/>
    NOTE:  In the above, you will be replacing text="${uix.eventResult.sender}" with your default email address like: text="myemail.mycompany.com"
    Find the following line and add the line in bold below it:
    <formValue name="event" value="sendEmail" />
    <formValue name="sender" [email protected] />
    NOTE: Make sure the domain name you provide is the same domain you are using for the SMTP server; otherwise, your Discoverer Viewer users will not be able to send e-mail.
    Take a backup of the modified file and place it somewhere safe.
    Stop and restart the WLS_DISCO server in the WebLogic Server Administration Console.
    Notes concerning editing of UIX files:
    Never make any changes without first backing up the UIX file you intend to work on. You need to go slowly and carefully, making backups as you go and trying your modifications on a test system first.
    Any changes you make to a UIX file will not be supported by Oracle, and if you run into any problems with changes you make to a UIX file, you will be on your own, which is why you need a backup.
    If you need future support, you will need to be able to prove that the issue you are encountering is not because of any changes you have made. You will basically need to have a clean instance to prove that the issue is still there.
    Any upgrades or patches that you subsequently apply may overwrite any custom changes that you have made to the UIX files. It will be your responsibility to keep copies of any changes you have made, and it will be your responsibility to make sure these changes are still valid after any upgrade or patch.
    NOTE: I cannot be held responsible if you tamper with your UIX files and mess up your system. You have been warned! That said, there are many examples for editing UIX files on Oracle’s Support site. So long as you are careful and heed the warnings mentioned, you should be fine

  • How to display binary file saved in BLOB column in Discoverer PLUS /VIEWER

    HI, Friends,
    I tried to display the binary file saved in the database in BLOB column with the *.doc or *.xls fomats, but it seemed not work at all. I can display them in discoverer DESKTOP, but not the web version PLUS or VIEWER. MY Discoverer PLUS/VIEWER version is 9.0.4.45.02 and the database is 9.2.0.4. Are there any special setting/configuration in somewhere (Discoverer administration/Applicaiton server/PLUS/VIEWER?)
    Any help /information will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
    Sorry but this feature is not available in the web version of 9.0.4.45. You will have to write your own mod_plsql function to download the file.

  • Problem opening excel files exported from Discoverer Plus 10.1.2.48.18

    I can't open excel files (xls) exported from Discoverer Plus 10.1.2.48.18 when I enable macros. The application (Excel) hangs up.
    Someone have any idea about this?
    Thanks,
    Diego

    Hi Meifang
    I did some more research and found a document on MetaLink 250820.1 that talks about Discoverer not being able to call Excel if Discoverer is running via an IP address instead of a qualified domain name.
    The article talks about making Discoverer a trusted site in the Internet Options of IE. Here's the relevant info from the posting:
    Workaround for MS IE (if necessary):
    1. Open a new MS IE browser
    2. Navigate to: Tools | Internet Options Security where you will see the Trusted Sites icon (green icon with a check mark)
    3. Click the Sites button
    4. Add the following: http://IP:port/
    (where IP, port are the location of where Discoverer server is running)
    5. Click the OK button
    6. Click the OK button again
    On my own PC, I was having a similar problem and I was unable to get Excel to launch. In the end I did this:
    1. Open a new MS IE browser
    2. Navigate to: Tools | Internet Options | Security where you will see the Local Intranet icon (computer icon against a globe)
    3. Click the Local Intranet button
    4. Click the Sites button
    5. Click the Advanced button
    6. Add the following: http://IP/ or http://website
    (where IP or website are the location of where Discoverer server is running)
    7. Click the Add button
    8. Click the OK button
    9. Click the OK button again
    10. Click the OK button a third time
    With this done, I made sure that my Explorer settings were correct by doing the following to ensure that a couple of settings for the .xls & .html file types are unchecked:
    1. Open Windows Explorer
    2. Navigate to: Tools | Folder Options | File Types tab
    3. Highlight the Extension XLS (or HTML)
    4. Click the Advanced button
    5. At the botton of the screen are three settings that use checkboxes. If either of the following two are checked, un-check them:
    Confirm Open after Download and Browse in same window
    6. Click the OK button
    7. Click the Apply button
    8. Re-boot the PC
    After I did this I was successfully able to get Excel to open from within Discoverer.

  • Emailing from discoverer plus 10g

    Hi,
    Please help on the ff question posed to me from our client who just had Discoverer Plus 10g implemented at their sites.
    1. The old vs 3.1 desktop had the ability to send a report in an e-mail attachment to many recipients as a .dis file. This feature is no longer available. Is there plans to include this in future releases?
    2. The old 3.1 vs was also able to save and open reports from the file system. This is no longer available on plus 10g. Is there plans to also include this feature in newer releases of plus.
    pls advise.
    thanks
    saliha

    Hi Saliha
    The new 10g Desktop still has the email feature, as does the 10g Viewer tool. I doubt very much that Oracle will add emailing to Plus because Viewer is where the users are supposed to run their reports. Plus is a developer tool so I think you will be out of luck. Many folks that I go to initially say they don't like Viewer but that is because they have no idea what it can do. After I have given training every company so far tell me they will be using Viewer for end users (viewers), with Plus being reserved only for the report writers.
    As for saving to the file system from Plus, as you say this does not exist. Oracle do have this under consideration. I thought it was scheduled for the next release but I don't think it made it. We'll just have to wait and see. Like you, I would like to see it.
    Sorry about this, please don't shoot the messenger :-)

  • How to open a defult workbook from Discoverer Plus

    Hi all,
    Is it possible in Discoverer Plus for a user to open a pre defined worksheet in a workbook when he logs in without having to select the workbook and then select the worksheet?
    Please advise how to achive this.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you all.
    Yjk

    Hi Yjk
    This is possible but you will have to alter the URL call to do it and add the workbook name to the end of the URL.
    You can use either the names of workbooks and worksheet or unique IDs of workbooks and worksheets. Using unique IDs is easier and helps avoid encoding problems with long names. Unique IDs are language independent. The following are the URL parameters to use while working with workbooks and worksheets.
    Discoverer Plus Relational:
    Workbooks:
    opendbid=<workbook ID>
    opendbname=<workbook name>
    Worksheets:
    sheetid=<worksheet ID>
    sheet=<worksheet name>
    Discoverer Viewer:
    Workbook:
    wbk=<workbook ID>
    wb=<workbook name>
    Worksheet:
    wsk=<worksheet ID>
    ws=<worksheet name>
    Discoverer OLAP:
    Workbooks:
    workbookname=<workbookname>
    Worksheets:
    sheet=<worksheet name>
    Note: Discoverer Plus OLAP uses only workbook and worksheet names.
    Examples below:
    How to Find the Unique IDs of Workbooks and Worksheets
    To find the unique ID of a workbook, use thie workflow:
    1. Launch the Open Workbook from Database wizard
    2. Right-click the workbook name
    3. Select Properties.
    The value of the Identifier field indicates the unique ID of the workbook.
    Alternatively, when the workbook is open, select File | Workbook Properties.
    To find the unique ID of a worksheet, use this workflow:
    1. With the worksheet open, select Edit | Worksheet Properties
    2. The Worksheet Properties dialog box opens.
    3. Click the General tab.
    The value of the Identifier field indicates the unique ID of the worksheet.
    The following URL starts Discoverer Viewer and opens a worksheet with the unique ID "156", which is present in the workbook whose unique ID is "MONTHLY_SALES". The connection ID used is "cf_a101".
    http://<machine.domain>:<port>/discoverer/viewer?cn=cf_a101&wbk=MONTHLY_SALES&wsk=156
    If the connection that is used here is a private connection, the user will be prompted for the password.
    In Plus, the same command is:
    http://<machine.domain>:<port>/discoverer/plus?cn=cf_a101&opendbname=MONTHLY_SALES&sheet=156
    Does this help?

  • Error connecting in Discoverer Plus/Viewer 10.1.2

    I'm triying to connect to Discoverer Plus or Viewer. When I get to the login screen, fill all the required fields, but I got the following message: "The application encountered an invalid state.
    - - Nested exception: org.omg.CORBA.COMM_FAILURE: vmcid: SUN minor code: 201 completed: No
    OracleBI Discoverer Viewer was unable to find the necessary data for displaying the results of this event. Please correct any errors and try again.
    When I run the checkdiscoverer. It works ok in all the checks except for: "Error: Failed to bind to Discoverer Server.
    Hint: Try increasing the timeout by changing the timeout value in opmn.xml.". As the hint said I increased the start timeout, I got it up to 3500 and even incresed the minprocs to see if that helped. Nothing worked.
    I'm testing this in a Windows XP Pro SP2 installed 1GB Ram. I Installed the BI Tools, App server but no infrastructure. The Installation process finished without any problems, except for a warning regarding not being able to determine the IP address. I can access all the options of the app server.

    Hi Christian
    In your connection to the database are you using a DNS named server or are you using an actual IP address?
    By this I mean, when you launch Discoverer, do you do it this way:
    http://servername.domain.com:7777/discoverer/plus
    or this way:
    http://ipaddress:7777/discoverer/plus
    If you are using the former, can you go to the server itself and run Discoverer ok? If you can then it is a case that your local machine cannot work out what the IP address is. Let's say, for arguements sake, that you server is http://myserver.mydomain.com and that the IP is 192.168.1.100
    You could try editing your HOSTS file and inserting a line in there to associate the IP with the domain. To do this, follow this workflow:
    1. Right click on Windows Start button and from pop upmenu select Explore
    2. Navigate to the folder called Windows/system32/drivers/etc
    3. Locate the file called HOSTS
    4. Edit this file with Notepad
    5. Insert a line like this:
    myserver.mydomain.com 192.168.1.100
    6 Save the HOSTS file and exit Explorer
    This associates the IP with the server name.
    Does this help

  • Link from WEBI chart to WEBI report

    All, how can I link a WEBI chart (column) chart to an detail WEBI report. Appreciate any inputs.
    Thanks,
    Ann

    Hi Ann,
    You can use the chart bars as reportfilter (much like the dropdown box filter effect),
    It is actually implemented as an input control, so you can control a detail table below the chart by clicking on a chart bar.
    However hyperlink from the table is not possible in BI40 (yet).
    (Right click the table, Linking, Add element link).
    So you either have to use the data in the same report option, or use the hyperlink option from a table cell...
    (Right click the cell, Linking, Add hyperlink).
    As I noticed you are using BICS, before jumping to using dashboards (FKA excelsius), be aware that the BICS connectivity in there is still the version running on BW, so unlike a WebI report, you have to publish the dashboard in BW and access it via an SAP portal environment, you cannot run it directly from within BI launchpad (in BI41 this will change). So to link from the portal environment to the BI launchpad for the WebI document you would need some portal integration work too.
    Hope this helps,
    Marianne

    Ideas are highly appreciated.

    I’m struggling many hours with the system links in overall blog view but are not able to resolve the problem. Once you click in the overall blog view to a specific blog item the system is generating a new page bit without the CSS??? I have set a template page to the blog and if I’m using the preview it looks fine. The overall blog view as well the single post view. It seems that the system is not using the CSS from the template??? Is this a bug?

    Hi their Rolf
    All these:
    <link href="../assets/css/bootstrap.css" rel="stylesheet">
    Anything like this, this is not what you do for BC to find the path.
    BC has a very simple know from root structure so the above will simply be:
    <link href="/assets/css/bootstrap.css" rel="stylesheet">
    So any CSS source, script and image in templates and layouts need to start / and nothing else to know to read from the root.
    Do that and it will sort this issue and when you use web apps, eCommerce and sub folder pages in the future too.

    You can create a condition for sheet2, based on a subquery on sheet1.
    That condition looks something like:
    column_in_sheet2_you_want_to_filter_on IN
    (subquery on column_in_sheet1_you_want_to_filter_on)
