Link is down. No cable detected

I have the Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router with SRX200 (WRT54GX2) and can connect to the internet [and to the router] using a wireless connection. However, when I can connect an ethernet cable to the router it is not detected. I get the following message "Link is down. No cable detected"

You should check if your card is enabled, try to use other cables also, try other computers on the same port and see if you at least have a light lit on it.. isolation is the key, coz you need to know where the problem is, it can either be the ethernet card, the cable or the port on the router that is derfective.. ayt?!

  • No Fault When Dynamic Partner Link Is Down?

    Hello,
I have an async process that establishes a dynamic partner link based on runtime data. I understand how to fire off to a dynamic partner link, however, I ran into a problem while testing a scenario where the partner link's endpoint is down.
In situations where the dynamic endpoint is up, my process calls it without any problems. However, when testing what happens if the dynamic endpoint is not available, I expected the process to throw a fault that I can catch. What I find is that an exception is raised in the logs (see below), but the calling process does not throw a fault. The process also continues on as if the call were successful?
Is there something that I can do to ensure that faults are raised in cases where dynamic partner links are down?

    Thanks!

There is a catch all block. I have no fault policies or fault binding set outside of what is defaulted.
Shouldn't my catch all block be enough to pick this up? It's as if nothing is bubbling up to the process and I clearly see an exception in the logs.

    Hi,Expert,
I encounter this situation in detail as follow:
    1. raisethe PO add row line with respective itemcode and quatity.
    2. raisethe ap down payment invoice  copy from the po created  just now.
    3. raise the bank -> outgoing pay the cash base on this down pay invoice.
    3. raise the Ap invoice copy from PO ,however, the user do'nt link related down pay invoice.
This result in the account is confused and wrongly pay double amount for supplier.
How can I process to repair it  now  and avoid it in the future ?
Thank you in advance ,appreciate any comment and help.
    Best Regards
    Eric

    Hi Eric,
The general down payment process is as below:-
    (1) The down payment request is made in F-47
    (2) The down payment is made in F-48
    (3) Then you create the MIRO invoice
During MIRO, the system gives up a pop-up to show whether the down payment exist for the vendor or not. This is an information message and user will continue to process MIRO.
    (4) After processing MIRO, user need to immediatly clear the down payment againest the MIRO invoice via F-54. In F-54, on selection screen invoice number is given and then from "Process open item" you can get the list of the doan payments for the vendor to choose from.

Is your laptop running Windows XP, windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1?  If so then I suggest download a tool that will retrieve the serial number from the old laptop which you can use it on your new machine.  The tool is called:
    Belarc Advisor
It can be downloaded from here:
    <http://www.belarc.com/Programs/advisorinstaller.exe>
Install this and then run it by double clicking on its icon and then wait for about 5 minutes while it generates all the info about your machine and software keys.

  • WRVS4400N : DHCP not assigning IP addresses if WAN link is down

    Hello,
With the latest firmware installed (the one suporting fixed IP based on MAC), I have one problem: the DHCP server is not assigning addresses when the WAN link is down. When it is up, it generally assign IP based on the configuration binding (MAC/IP). But it sometimes fail to do so. Before using the wrvs4400n I had no issues with DHCP wrt54G and other routers.
    Any hints ?
    Thanks.

    Hi there!

  • How to avoid links upp/down being propagated to the syslog server?

How do you avoid approx 5 billion links up/down filling up the Syslog server when you connect a couple of hundred Cisco Switches? Apart from setting the Level to Critical.
If possible we would like to gett messages from Warning and upwards in order to be able to pinpoint problems before they happen (or atleast find out what caused them) but not at the cost of having the whole logg drenched in links upp/down! We would also like the link-messages to remain in the switch log.

You can create a logging discriminator to filter out those messages and then specify the discriminator in the logging host definition.
    For instance:
logging discriminator FILTER mnemonics drops UPDOWN
    logging trap notifications
    logging host <syslog_server_address> discriminator FILTER
(Note the discriminator name is limited to 8 characters.)

  • Should the Content Engine work while the Inernet link is down ?

I have installed CE590 in a client network
The http saving performance is from 30 : 40 %
My client want to make sure the CE is caching the web site
He want to shutdown Serial port of the main router , and try to browse web sites. ( the Cached sites )
Should he get a reply from the CE and browse the cached sites ??
I mean , Can the PC browser ( while the internet is link is down ) open page like www.yahoo.com for example if it is cached on the CE ??
Is there is any command of the CE that can display the name of the cahced web pages ?
Note : Cisco Content Engine Software Release 3.11
    Can anyone help me ?
    Thanks
    Mohamed Abdallah

    Mohamed,
Before you go any futher you need to upgrade the CE to ACNS 4.2.3. There are known issues with 3.1.1.
To answer your question the CE will only server content if it can not access the internet if the object is fresh. By this I mean the object has not expired or the object does not need revalidation eg If modified since request.
This could cause problems with broken pages etc etc.
Your best option is to turn on transaction logging.
    transaction-logs enable
You can then go to the local1/logs directory on the CE
    type working.log
This will show you the urls that clients are requesting and if they got a hit / miss/ ims hit / ims miss etc etc.
Overall your cache should always have access to the origin server for content.
    Cheers
    Phil

  • Application Manager download link is down

Hi Adobe folks, the Application Manager download link is down.
It's trying to pull it from:
    http://ffc-crawler.oobesaas.adobe.com/AdobeProducts/EDGE/0_11/osx10/AAMmetadataLS17/AdobeA pplicationManager.dmg
    The browser says:
Oops! Google Chrome could not find ffc-crawler.oobesaas.adobe.com

@AdamsonB - Glad to hear the workaround worked.
A fix is in progress, but it is on the server side so clearing your local cache will not fix it. When fixed the urls on the Creative Cloud Apps page https://creative.adobe.com should start with http://ccmdl.adobe.com instead of https://ffc-crawler.oobesaas.adobe.com. This is only if you do not have the Adobe Application Manager already installed in which case you should see links like aam://SAPCode=PHSP.

  • Customising data link up/down rule

Is it possible to somehow filter out specific link up/down messages displayed on MARS? For instance if the syslog message is for a user port, say G1/0/1 I'm not interested in seeing that message, but if its from T1/0/1 then I want to raise the priority of the message as its a key link.
I've looked through the false positive tuning process, it doesnt seem to offer the granuality I'm looking for.

I submitted a TAC case on this point a couple of years ago and was told that the rule can be set per device but not per port.  The kind engineer promised to send the idea to product development for possible inclusion in a future release, but I don't know if that has happened.  You may check the release notes for more recent versions of the MARS software than is on your box to see if it has been added.  If not, submit a TAC.  The most likely way to have this feature added is if customers ask for it.

  • Exchange 2013 Split DNS, how to get WAN clients to use public Split DNS IP when inter-office link is DOWN?!

    Hello,
I have an Exchange 2013 deployment and a LAN/WAN setup, we have many small remote WAN linked offices that can resolve to the Exchange Server's internal IP.
Outlook clients in remote WAN offices work fine as long as the link is UP since the Split Brain DNS for Exchange will resolve the internal clients to the internal IP of the Exchange server, Outlook connects up without issues.
However, in the event of loosing connection to our remote sites, they will no longer be able to resolve to the internal Exchange IP, but they still have a backup public internet that they can use. So should the inter-office connectivity fail we have it setup
so clients in remote offices can still browse the internet, etc.
However, their Outlook fails to connect because it has a cached DNS record for our Split Brain Exchange DNS setup and tries to resolve it to its internal IP, instead of refreshing the cache and grabbing the public IP of the Exchange server since now they
would be resolving it over the public internet.
Is there anything I can do with my existing configuration to allow the client to pick up the public IP of the Split DNS setup when our inter-office connection is down and the client is no longer able to use the internal IP they have cached for Exchange?
I guess I could lower the TTL on the DNS record to something like 1 minute so it does not cache the DNS record / IP for long? Is this the best approach?

    http://public.wsu.edu/~brians/errors/lose.html
I would suggest that the best approach is to either improve the reliability of the WAN link or to configure DNS to always use the Internet path.  You might want to work with your network guy, perhaps there's a way to have your gateways automatically
switch to an Internet VPN backup when the WAN link is down or something like that.

  • Forcedeth on MPC55 "no link during initialization" no net cable detect

    Hello-
I have recently started having a problem with my computer. I cannot get the network card to detect the cable.  The cable worked before with this computer, and still works with other computers.
The problem started 30 Nov 2013.
There were recent upgrades of networkmanager as well as util-linux, linux-firmware, linux-api-headers, mkinitcpio, and linux (3.9.8-1 to 3.12-1), but looking through the logs there were working reboots after all of these upgrades.
The network device shows in lspci
    the kernel driver is loaded
dmesg shows the driver loading as well as networkmanager seeing the interface
kernel reports 'no link during initialization' and 'link is not ready'
modprobe -r and re-modprobe forcedeth leads to same messages and does not fix the problem
    ip link shows
    lenp0s8: <NO_CARRIER,BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP> .. ... state DOWN
Any ideas of where else to start looking?

I just booted from an older arch boot usb drive, and it had the same results.
I'm wondering if the hardware is bad.
The version i'm booting from has a kernel of 3.6.4-1-arch
The strange thing is that the last time the network card was working, it was working until it was taken down during a power-off.
Is there something i can check with ethtool or another tool?
    A cursory glance shows
    Speed: Unknown!
    Duplex: Unknown! (255)
    Link detected:no
    Everything else looks normal
