Link my PS2 to my iMac?

Is it possible to link a PS2 to an iMac G5?
Pls respond. Thx.

Arranging, moving files? Yes. Using your iMac's screen as a monitor through USB? No.
It's best (arguably) to use some utility like PSPWare or iPSP for syncing with your Mac among other things they do.

  • Need help setting up my d-link wireless router to my imac

I need some help trying to set up my D-Link WBR 2310 wireless router to my iMac. I currently have Bell Sympatico high speed.
The reason I want to set up the wireless router is because my girlfriend works from home sometimes with her office computer downstairs and needs a wireless connection (she has a PC). I tried to call D-Link, but they're useless.
Anyways, any help would be greatly appreciated. It would be great to know what settings to change and as much step by step info as possible. I realize it's probably pretty simple to set up, but I'm fairly new to Macs and also to wireless.
    Thanks again

    Hello,
Connect the D-Link to the iMac by Ethernet.
    Open Safari (or Firefox)
    Navigate to http://192.168.1.1
Enter your password (default user is Admin and password "admin" - change it!)
Find the Wireless Security section and change the SSID to your own name i.e. "home network" .
Set the Encryption setting to "WPA" and enter a password of your choice. This is the encryption key and is different to the router's admin password.
Configure the WAN part of the router (which will vary depending on your ISP).
Configure the DHCP to serve clients (should be a simple on/off).
    Disconnect the iMac
Go to the iMac and turn on Airport on (on the menu bar).
When the iMac finds your SSID select it and enter the encryption password.
Check to allow Keychain to store that detail.
    Hope that helps

  • Using EyeTV 2 EZ to connect my PS2 to my iMac

    Hello, all...
Is there anyone that could tell me what cable I need to buy to connect my PS2 to the EyeTV box I have on my iMac? I've seen several posts stating it does well with this EyeTV model. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find a working website for El Gato!!
Thanks for any help you can offer this newbie (to Macintosh, as well as this forum (:)

Never mind... I actually had the cable in my junk drawer!! I don't know which of my "toys" it came with...but it works.

  • Linking a PC to an iMAC

I've been using a PC for a while now (Mainly because of the price). I've finally got the money together to get a great new iMAC....But I don't want to toss my PC.
Ultimately I'd like to use an ethernet to connect my PC and iMAC. I'd like to drag all my old photos, emails and ripped music onto the apple and essentially use the PCs 160GB hard drive as an storage space for music, movies, pics...etc. I's also like to keep my PC to run all the peripherals (scanner, laser printer) that are hooked up the the PC.
I also want to set my iMAC up to receive faxes, unfortunately they no longer put a phone jack on the new iMACs.
    I'd like to:
    (1) Link my iMAC to my PC via ethernet (only 1 ethernet slot on the iMAC and PC)
    (2) Link the iMAC to my cable modem through a router
    (3) Use the phone jack on my PC to link up to a phone line and then receive faxes on my new local "Network"
Is this possible? If it isn't possible then why?
    Thanks!

You Can get a Usb to modem cable to solve number 3 from Apple here is the website http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wo/StoreReentry. wo?productLearnMore=MA034Z/A
Just copy and paste it into your browser.
Or another thing you could do is to make your PC a fax server using a phone jack card in the computer. There is some software called Winfax Pro.

  • PS2 conectivity to imac

hi, my name is xavier, i'm thinking of buying an imac for christmas but i was wondering if anyone might know if it is possible to connect a Playstation 2 to an imac instead of an ordinary tellivision. if anyone knows of a special cable to convert the scart fitting to one of the imac ports, or knows of a way this might be possible, your help would be very appreciated. if not then i would think of buying a mac and cinema display but they are very expensive, im not sure if even then it would be possible to connect a PS2. so if anyone could shed some light on this for me that would be a great help. could u possibly forward your replys to this email also @ [email protected] Thanx

All you need is a Network Adapter: this is how to do it from your PS2, and these are the instructions to follow from MacOS X (it is for Panther, but I think it'll work on Tiger too).

  • Can I use my iMac as a Gamecube or PS2 monitor?

Total newbie here, and I am loving my new iMac!
I wonder if there's any way (with a special cable or adapter) to connect a video game console to my iMac monitor? My GameCube connects to my regular TV with regular RCA cables (yellow, red, white for audio/video). It would be really nice to somehow use the iMac as a monitor for this.
Any ideas or insight are much appreciated!

Hi, have you tried this? I looked at the FAQ in elgato and it says:
"The analog inputs of EyeTV Hybrid have a delay of only few milliseconds, allowing for excellent live gameplay."
So I think there's still a problem of latency...and it also says that:
"An inexhaustive list of supported consoles would be:
    Dreamcast
    Gamecube
    N64
    PlayStation
    PlayStation 2
    PlayStation 3 (not all games)
    Saturn
Wii (not all games - Virtual Console might be an issue)
    Xbox
    Xbox 360 (not all games)
All of the above have composite and S-Video output. Component, HDMI, DVI, VGA and other outputs cannot be used with EyeTV Hybrid.
The digital ATSC or DVB-T inputs cannot be used to play video games. Use the analog inputs (composite, S-Video, analog RF) instead."

I'm also trying to look for a way to plug my bro's Wii and PS2 to my iMac...so if anybody who tried one that's really great, I'd be really really appreciate it..:)

  • Cannot Connect Imac 24" via mini dvi to HDMi adapter cable to Sony Bravia 3

    Hello Everyone,
I'm having the worst time in trying to connect the following:
    1. Imac 24" 3.06 dual with dvi connection
    2. Mini dvi to HDMI adapter (this mac with this connection was produced only for a short while!).
    3. 10' (foor) HDMI wire
    3. Sony Bravia 32" model KDL32L-5000 with 3 HDML connections
i.When I wire everything up, I keep getting"no signal" on my Sony Bravia TV.
ii. It doesn't matter whether I connect the HDMI wire to HDMI 1,2, or 3 on my Sony
iii. On my Imac Hard Drive>>Applications>>System Preferences>>Displays
all I get is a list of different resolutions. There is no mention or mirrors etc.
Nothing happens when I press "Gather Windows" or Detect Displays"
Can someone out there please help!!!!!
Can you also give any solution in very simple and small detailed steps!
    Thanks,
    Stacey Bindman
    Montreal

Majortrout, there is a major disconnect going on here.
    1. You are showing an Ebay link with a mini-DVI to HDMI adapter.
    2. You report that you have an Early '09 24" iMac.
    3. That iMac does not have a mini-DVI port. That iMac has a mini-DispayPort.
    4. You need a mini-DisplayPort to HDMI adapter.
It is physically impossible to attach the adapter to which you link at Ebay to your iMac. So you need to take a step back and figure out what you really have; which iMac, which adapter, etc.

  • Can't connect imac to internet through Airport Express

    Hello
I am trying to connect my new imac (2.4Ghz,OS X 10.5) to the internet through my Airport Express (v6.3) but have encountered some problems.
The set up goes like this:
    Cable Internet <wired> TP-LINK Router <wired> AE <wireless> imac
The internet is coming from my landlord on the bottom floor of my apartment so I can't change the router.
The router is assigning a static IP to my AE (192.168.5.101).
I am using WEP 128 bit security.
I have set the AE through Airport Utility to act as a Bridge.
On the imac I set the Network preferences to manually select an IP address (192.168.5.110) which is out of the range of the Router (192.168.5.101-108).
The AE connects and lights up green and the imac recognises the AE but I still cannot access the internet...
I have also tried to wirelessly connect my PC laptop to the AE using other static addresses but I still can't connect to the internet.
    Can anyone please help??
    Regards
    Starwolfgang

Hello Starwolfgang. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
The router is assigning a static IP to my AE (192.168.5.101).
Are you sure that this provided IP address is static? If so, you also need to note the provided DNS server(s) IPs as well.
On the imac I set the Network preferences to manually select an IP address (192.168.5.110) which is out of the range of the Router (192.168.5.101-108).
Since you configured your AX in bridge mode, your computer will be dependent on the NAT (& possibly DHCP) services provided by your apartment's router. Assuming that your landlord doesn't filter out any IP addresses and that the IP address you set is valid, you need to compare your iMac AirPort's DNS server address settings with that provided by your apartment's router to be sure they match.
Finally, assuming that your apartment provides you with an Ethernet jack, if you connect your iMac directly (via Ethernet) can it access the Internet?

You will need to Upgrade the Macs OS X

  • Will FCP Suite work OK on the dual intel iMac G5 ?

We are getting ready to open a new digital video classroom for up to 26 students. Each student will have a G5, NTSC monitor, firewire capture device of some sort, and sound I/O to quality sound system. Anyone have any experiences or insight to using the G5 dual core intel iMac's for FCP Suite? Motion, FCP, etc....all work fine? And is there any problem with using the sound jack on the iMac for importing/exporting sound?
Any input, and links to other research on iMac's and FCP would be very helpful!
    Thanks in advance...

    Welcome to the forum swatkins!
The current version of FCP 5 will not run on the intel macs but at the end of next month Apple will release a version that does. see here: http://www.apple.com/universal/crossgrade/
My suggestion would be to wait, and contact your local edu rep from Apple about the LAB pricing... it's wonderful for schools.
iMac's should work OK with this new version, however it's not out yet of course so no one that knows can say, and those that say don't know...
That said, there are inherent problems with iMacs using them for FCP, at least from a Pro point of view... They aren't expandable beyond what can be captured thru Firewire, so it's going to leave you editing HDV, DV, or possibly DVCPRO50. That's probably not a problem for a school though. Be careful about specifying scratch disks for your systems. It's best to use another physical disk drive for capturing video to... when it's time to do this, look at Weibetech, Granite Digital, or G-Tech drive setups because they will work fine looping the firewire from a camera or deck thru them (the iMac only has one firewire bus). Other drives just don't support this very well, and dropping frames results. If you need any help whatsoever, don't hesitate to contact me. Also look into sharing DSR-11 machines amongst the computers so you don't use cameras for capturing (because they wear out really fast doing this). You're better off with a few DSR-11's and FireWire switchers to route them to the different stations, than using cameras for the capturing...
Also, it eases your class procedures to have these computer labs on a LAN so you can share media quickly between the various computers...

  • Video output to my iMac?

I just got my iMac a few weeks ago, and the screen is beautiful. Since I shelled out 1200 bucks, I don't really have the funds to upgrade my TV right now, which is an old tube with really funky colors(red shows up almost black). As a result, I was wondering if there is like a USB adapter with a cable TV input so I can watch TV or hook up my PS2 to my iMac. I've gotten used to the colors watching TV, but I have a lot of old PS2/one games I still like to play but they are unplayable on my TV. I know I really need a new TV but if anyone knows of a product that would help me out it would be a nice in the meantime.

hmm.. after doing some research I see there is a product called EyeTV Hybrid that does this, but it's $150... probably should just save and get a nice TV.

  • IMac 24¨External display no longer working

I have a Intel iMac 24¨using an additional external display - Fujitsu.
It has worked perfectly since I bought it and suddenly the external display will no longer work. There is nothing wrong with the Fujitsu because I have tested it on other computers but will no longer work with the iMac.
I have checked all connections, running current update and I am now at a loss as to what to do next.
I read that there were problems linking external displays when the iMac 24¨came out but I am assuming that this was resolved long ago. Even so, mine has worked fine until now. Any ideas please?!
    Thank you

    Hi Canaryguy
    1. Shut everything off display, computer and disconnect everything.
    2. Reset the iMac's SMC > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
    +● Shut down the computer.+
    +● Unplug the computer's power cord.+
+● Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.+
    +● Release the power button.+
+● Attach the computers power cable.+
+● Press the power button to turn on the computer.+
    3. Now first reconnect the DVI or VGA cable to the Display.
    4. Then connect the Mini DVI to ??? to the Cable coming from the Display.
    5. Lastly plug the Mini-DVI adapter into the iMac.
    6. Then turn the Display on and startup the iMac.
If that does not work try a different Mini-DVI to ??? adapter and cable, or test your adapter, cable and display with another iMac.
If all of the above fail, then the iMac needs to be serviced.
