Link ok in iWeb, becomes a ? on web

Some links to pages on my site work fine, period. Others work fine in iWeb, but become little question marks in a blue square when uploaded.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
b

Try to delete them in iWeb (and maybe also a bit of the environment), rebuild, reupload.
Empty cache in Safari and visit the pages.

  • Links work in iWeb but not on web

I created a site (http://www.busybeetrader.com) in iWeb 1.2.2 and uploaded using Cyberduck FTP software. The links work in iWeb when I un-check the option to make them inactive. Once I upload my site, several of the links don't work. This has occurred multiple times.
I am also having problems with missing links to files. I open iWeb and get an error list of missing links. It includes pictures and PDF documents, mostly under the blog sections (Editorials).
Any help any one can give me would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Re: Help to remove link on an iWeb page

I used iWeb to post a web-page and somehow there is a "link" on the whole large text block that downloads a photo every time every time someone clicks on the page. I can't figure out how to find and remove that link when I open the page in iWeb. Any ideas are welcome.  Thanks!

Try selecting the text box itself - rather than the text - and look in the Link inspector window to see if it is selected as a hyperlink. Is so, uncheck the box.

  • Links work in iweb, but do not publish

NOW the "post new topic" shows! Links made in iweb to external webpages work in iweb, but do not work when I publish to my folder or upload them to my server for my website. The links to other pages within iweb & the email links work in my folder & uploaded. I have redone my page & all links several times & it always works in iweb, but then don't work in the folder when I publish or upload. Even links that start with http:// don't work & my setting are correct for it to recognize them. Thanks so much for any help.

I don't understand. When I made the page the first time, I put the pics on it (page is 1270 pixels wide & fits on my 17" monitor & displays fine in iweb & when I go to the website). & then made the text boxes & sized them to fit around the pics & typed the text in. I tried doing the "wrap" in inspector, but the type just went over the pics & didn't wrap around it. I put the links for the ffrco, nuvet, email & menu in separate "insert link" boxes. The other links were from a copy & paste from the Nuvet website. All links worked perfect while in iweb. but only the email & menu links worked when I published to the folder & uploaded them. iweb is way different to use than Pagemill3, which is what I created my original website on 6 1/2 years ago. But my first computer melted down inside & I don't have the program that created it & the new computer won't take the software that worked on OS 8.6, so have to do the whole website now from scratch & having a terrible time. There are other issues, but the links thing is the most frustrating.
When I redid the page again, I copied & pasted the whole page onto a new page that I had sized & added the background to. The links all worked in iweb & when they didn't work when published to the folder or uploaded, I rechecked the web addresses for all the links & even reentered them, though they were the correct links already in there.
When I made my homepage, I made it to fit a 15" monitor, so anybody could see my website without scrolling. A good friend told me I had the last 15" monitor still in use & to make it fit my 17", so I did.
Thanks so much for looking at it. I really appreciate all your help. I have printed the manuel & been reading that & going to the Help section & I just can't figure it out.

  • I've lost iWeb and thus my web design.  I must start from scratch.  Should I reinstall iWeb 09 and use that, or is there a better way?

I've lost iWeb and thus my web design.  I must start from scratch.  Should I reinstall iWeb 09 and use that, or is there a better way?

The file you really need is named Domain.sites2 which resides in your   Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb foldler.  It's independent from the iWeb application. If it's not in there do you have a backup of your hard drive from an earlier time?
Resinatll iWeb 3 from the iLife 09 disk or wherever you got it from originally and then try what's described below:
In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or Mountain Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script "/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.

  • How link my Facebook's page with my web site?

    Hi!
How link my Facebook's page with my web site and have a preview of facebook's page on my website builted with iweb?
    Regards
    Thanks a lot.

I think it's the other way around. Sharing a webpage on Facebook.
    Here's how : http://myipad.atspace.com/size/Share.html
But if you want your FB page embedded in an iWeb page then paste the <iframe> code in a HTML Snippet.
    <iframe src="http://url.to.file.html" frameborder="0" width="500" height="500" scrolling="no" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>
Where SRC="" is the URL of your Facebook page. Change the numbers for witdh and height to make the FB page fit your webpage.

  • PDF export with link to document defaulting to "Open a web link" instead of "Open a file"

I have a MS Access database and I'm trying to export reports to PDF (I have Acrobat XI Pro) that include a hyperlink to another document on the same drive on my computer.  I have tested this with hyperlinked email addresses, and emails export fine to PDF and are still functional, opening a new email in Outlook.  The hyperlinks to documents work fine in MS Access, opening a Word, PDF, or other document when clicked.
When I export to PDF, the links to documents say, "This document is trying to connect to: file:" and my filepath.  If I say "Allow," the link tries to open in my default web browser, which comes up blank.  I've tested this on other computers in our office too.  When I right-click the link, I have the option to "Open weblink as a new document" -- this opens the document successfully, but won't be very helpful or fast for our staff.  When I examine the link with Tools - Add or Edit Link, I see that the link's action defaulted to "Open a web link" when the PDF was created.  This seems like it should be "Open a file."  To see if "Open a file" would work in theory, I tried creating a test button in a blank PDF and made the "mouse up" action "Open a file" and linked to various documents on my computer.  Each time, the button does not react to being clicked at all, like nothing happened.
I also tried making a basic Word doc with just the hyperlink to another document.  It works fine in Word, but, when saved as a PDF, the hyperlink does the same behavior-- tries to connect to the web instead of opening the file on the computer.
I have a lot of experience building Acrobat PDF forms and working in Acrobat, and I'm almost certain I've created links that open another file on the computer in Acrobat before, but I'm out of ideas and an internet search isn't turning up much.  I welcome any suggestions for things to try.  Thank you!

This is what I currently have, and it attempts to open in a web browser.  Do you know of a setting in Acrobat I might need to change, or any other solution to tell Acrobat to open the "file:" URL as a document, not try to start the web browser?

  • When I send a link to my iweb page it doesn't open

If I want to send a link of my iweb page to someone, the way I do it is firstly open the page online, copy the link from the browsers address and then from mail I goto "add hyperlink" paste the link in and then send, all looks ok, but when the other person tries to open, the link will not.
I sent to myself to test and found that the link address once sent this way from mail, is different than the original. Where the original address would be %20 it is now %2520. The number 25 is placed in front of 20 numerous times through out the link and so of course the site won't open.
    Would hugely appreciate any feedback,
    thanks
    torder

I decided to edit my post and add some more info but I guess I took too long. So here's an edited version:
Idea 1 - the simple method: Forget the "add hyperlink" part. Just paste the address into your email message by hand. It comes out as a hyperlink (though it does not appear so when you are crafting the message) and does not create the problem you are having.
Idea 2 - the prettier method: Use "add hyperlink" but do some editing first. When you paste the hyperlink into the box you must replace each "%20" with a space. The link will be displayed in your email message as you would like it to appear - with spaces instead of %20's - but the underlying link will have the %20's. I can't guarantee it will come out pretty with every email program and every preference setting someone might use but any good program should get it right.

  • Linking to a specific location in a web page is not working

    Hello,
I am using anchor tags for linking to a specific location in a web page . This Page contains some images(.bmp).
    Eg:
    <h2><a name="exactline">Linking Directly to a Specific Location</a></h2>
    <a href="http://www.example.com/some-page-or-other.aspx#exactline">Click here</a>
Whenever I click on the link it moves to  specific location but when the page get loaded completely , top of the page is being displayed.
My question is how can I make this link redirects directly to the particular section and stays there even after the page loads fully.
    Thanks

    Hi ,
When you click your link "Click here", the SharePoint web page with anchor will not work until refresh the page, if it's the case, you can add the javascript code to refresh the page automatically as workaround per the following similar post.

    <script type="text/javascript">
    setTimeout(Reload,2000);
    function Reload()
    window.location.hash=self.document.location.hash.substring(1);

  • Links work in iWeb, but not in browser

Using a blank template. established a photoshop background and placed transparent rectangles over the images and linked the rectangles. In iWeb (1.1.2), they work fine. but they do not work in the browser. I noticed a problem someone had by accidentally creating "floating" boxes. I have reworked all of my links with no luck. Help!!!

    I answered your question yesterday:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10520122&tstart=0
    Nothing has changed.
The footer of the page covers the links.
The links themselves are 0x0 pixels. The shape-images are 1x1 pixels.
Whether or not links work in iWeb is irrelvant. They should work in the browser.
    Check, check, check.

  • Using iWeb for a persoanl web site.

    Hi everyone
I have used iWeb to create a web site to upload to my .mac account before and its really easy.
Now my question is, can I create a web site with iWeb but upload it to a web site of my own on a third party web hosting company?
if yes, can you also explain how to do it?
    Thanks a lot
    Bob

Yes, you can. First, you probably want this 3rd party hosted site to be separate from your original site. This might entail making a separate Domain file for iWeb to keep the sites separate. Another way to do this would be to create a separate system login account with its own instance of iWeb and separate Domain file. Again, this is a way of keeping the sites in different Domain files so that you can publish both sites independently and to different places. If, instead, you are basically starting over and don't mind erasing your previous website then you can disregard this.
Assuming that you have the particulars of preparing your separate site worked out (as above), then all you have to do is to design your separate site and then in iWeb choose "Publish to Folder". This will place all the files needed for this website in a folder on your desktop. Then you will need to get ahold of an FTP program of your choosing (Fetch and CyberDuck are two that are mentioned all the time). You will also need to figure out exactly where you 3rd party webserver wants you to upload files. You will use the FTP program to navigate to the desired web server directory and then upload the site folder that iWeb made into that directory. That's it!

  • Adding a facebook link to an iWeb page (08)

I got a free Twitter icon and somehow got it to operate by marrying the link to it.... for lack of a better term; spent the better part of 30 minutes getting it done.
Tried to remember how I did it, and repeat that with a facebook icon.... haven't been able to get it done.
Can anyone tell me how to "widget" a facebook link to my iweb 08 page?
    Thanks!

I see this at the top:
"This question is not answered. "Helpful" answers available: 2 . "Solved" answers available: 1 .
It seems there is a "solved" answer, but gives me no link to go to it. I "searched several different options but could only find one thing even close and that was to embed the facebook page in an iweb page... not what I want.
Is there anyone that can point me in the correct direction to go to the link that gives me the "solved" answer?
    Thanks.

  • Link to iTunes music store from a web page created in iWeb

Is there a way to create a link to the iTunes music store from a web page made in iWeb. I'd like to make a list of songs, and link each one to the song on the music store.
    G5 Dual 2.7 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

James, am I right in assuming, then, that one has to
have purchased that iTune from the iTunes Store? So,
logically then, if I have song that I copied from a
CD in my iTunes, iWeb would not link to it?
Sure, you can link your own music .mp3 files this way...but it doesn't go directly to your music library. What you would do is to have a copy of your music file saved to the desktop. Then make a link to file (one of the options in the Inspector Hyperlink tab) to this music file. When you publish your page, a copy of the music file will be uploaded to your site as well...so that people clicking on the link that you made can download the file.
You can also drag in your music file to iWeb and use QT to play the music file on your webpage.
