I need some help. How can I set a link in the Java Server Page to call a mail program in the client machine.

I haven't the closest idea how to do what you told me to do.
You know, I have buid some Applets in the past that were embbeded in html files as you can see in: http://pccruzadas.planetaclix.pt/index.html.
Now there are so many tecknologies that I am a litle confused.

Your answer also taught me to be a little more persistent, as I had started looking at Preferences, and just didn't notice the icons (including Applications) at the top of that window that would have led me to my answer.

I get "application not found" when clicking on a http link in a mail, even after having set firefox as the default program for http links.

After installing firefox 15.0, I can not open links form email or other office 2010 applications. I get "application not found" error. I tried setting firefox as the default program both manually (in the Windows default program panel) and automatically (having Firefox to do it automatically on startup (tools->options->advanced->General). I still have the error.

That sounds odd. Is this error coming from a particular e-mail program you're using? It could be that that program has its own settings for which web browser to launch, ignoring the "default browser" setting in Windows.
Does the same thing happen if you click on a web link from any other external (non-browser) application on your computer? If it happens with other apps too, I would suggest to re-download and install Firefox (www.mozilla.org) and see if that takes care of it.

When I click send link my yahoo mail does come up BUT the link is coming up in the TO box

I am trying to send a link to my friend and when I click send link my yahoo mail DOES pop up but the link is showing in the TO box
instead of the body of the message...I have to cut and copy that and put
in the message body then put the email address in the TO box

My Apple Mail program is stuttering

My mail program is driving me crazy ... I can only type a few words and then it stalls ... if I continue typing, nothing shows on the screen for 3 or 4 seconds, then it all shows up at once, but a few words later it stalls again. If I finish typing and try to correct an error, it won't let me place the cursor for several seconds. This is the only program this is happening with, and it has been going on for several weeks now.
It's a new 27" iMac, running Mountain Lion, 16 GB of memory. Any suggestions?

This is driving me a bit nuts - seems to only happen with Mac Mail.
Command N for New mail - there is a delay if I hit tab a couple times to get from the To to the Body.
Then as I type - the first half dozen or so words appear then the next dozen or so do not - then all at once they appear.
This system is currently on 10.7.5 - 16GB RAM MackBook Pro late 2011.
If I type the following string as a test:
111 222 333 444 555 666 777 888 999 000
what I see on screen is
111 222 333 444 followed by a delay where nothing appears to be happening at all - then the remaining 555 666 777 888 999 000 appears essentialyl all at once.
I have tried the various rebooting and cleaning the index and turning off backgournd apps and disabling add-ons and turning off spell check - nothing seems to be a real solution.
Hopegully I can get up to 10.8 soon and or swpa the HDD for an SSD - my other Macbook Pro with 16GB and SSD usign Outlook has no issue and Mail does not seem to have the same issue - despite having 6 linked email accounts compared to this machines 1 (although this machine uses a gmail account and the other does not).

Make Entourage default mail program for composing?

Hey folks. I'm trying to get Entourage to be teh default mail program for composing mail as well as reading mail. I already set it to be default for reading mail from the Mail program, bt when I click a "send to" someone type link, Mail keeps popping up. How do I change that? Thanks.

In Mail Preferences you can set your default mail reader to the preferred application. Which one is curently set as your default? I don't have Entourage installed so I Mail (3.5) is the only option. In your case you should be able to select either Entourage or Mail. Let me know if that helps.

I use aol for all my e-mails...what is the procedure for firefox to use aol when am in a web page that has a contact link for questions or reply.
When I click on a link I get the following error message

Having Problems with my mail Program

I am having Problems with my email account. I am still on OS snow Leopard and just recently ordered the Newer Mac mini with Lion.
I use to have the Mobile Me account, since I haven't switched over to iCloud yet, I still have the Mobile Me account set up in my email account and still have the Mobile Me idisk on my desktop.I also have my other local isp email account in my mail program. Just now I am getting a email problem from my other email account, I am getting my email but I get a pop up window that request my password from my other email account and at the top of the side bar where the mail icons are on the left side there is a "A" with a Circle around it next to my mail icon or sometimes a " ~ " (Tilda) next to the mail icon. I tried to contact my ISP to ask them if they were having propblems at their end but they didn't get back to me, they usually do get back to me.
Since I have the Mobile Me email account un active, am wondering if the mobile me account is effecting my other active email? am also wondering if the computer still thinks that the Mobile me email account is still active and is trying to get mail through my other active email account?
Does someone have any soloutions for me? or can someone Please help me? cause this is very fustrating cause that Password wondow keeps popping up and I can not turn it off from popping up unless I completly quit the mail program but if I restart it or reopen it up, it starts all over again.
Please someone Help me if you know what is going on here?

you might try to look for the VACUUM command (do a google search on: mail.app vacuum).
The ~/Library/Mail/Envelope Index file is a SQLite database. it does slow down as things are added and deleted. You can also find people who suggest deleting (or moving this file to the desktop or somewhere else) after quitting MAIL and then restarting MAIL... it will tell you it needs to import all your mail... it SHOULD find all the mail and rebuild the "Envelope Index" file. You can try it.

hi just tryed to open my mail program, but doesn't open , keep getting mail (not responding) when i go to force quit applications.
restarted computer lots , but no joy ???

Why does my Mail program keep shutting down?

At least daily, my Mail program unexpectedly shuts down. It never happens while I am actively using the program so I have not lost any data; however, it is abnormal and is starting to make me feel a little concerned.

Changing your default mail program

Not that I have anything against the Mac Mail program that came with my Mac, but does anyone know how to change the default mail program to MS Office Entourage? If I am on a website and I click a link to send an e-mail, it always brings up the Mac Mail program that I don't use. Thanks for any help you can give.

Embedding code in text for use in Mail program

I use Mac Mail. I'd like to be able to create a link in an email that would send people to my website, without mentioning the website. To do this, I need to embed the link, in code, in the text, but I don't know how to do this, or even if it can be done in the Mail program.
Is anyone good at this kind of thing who could tell me where I can learn how to do this? Or if it can be done in Mac Mail?
