Link to an iTunes song?

Is there a way to post a link from my blog to specific songs in iTunes...some times I want to be able to send people on my blog over to hear the sample of a song I'm blogging about, and who knows, maybe my reco's will lead to sale & make the stock go up a bit
thanks for any help

You have to use iTunes to view songs in the the iTunes store.
Oh, yes I understand that. I was referring to going to a blog and then discovering it was wanting to open iTunes on my computer. I probably just wouldn't bother. There may not be any better way to resolve this I understand. I also use a PC on occasion (and so do many people out there). iTunes is not as prevalent on those so they too might get frustrated by links unavailable to them without installing a complete software package. Same thing with RealAudio. I just don't listen to them. Just my opinion.

    Hi Frantic503,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
When you are the Family Sharing organizer, purchases are billed to your account unless the family member making purchases has an iTunes Gift Card or iTunes credit on their account. The attached article has more information on how this process works.
    Family Sharing - Apple Support
What I may suggest in your situation would be to discontinue the Family Sharing and use iCloud calendar sharing. Using this method keeps your accounts separate but allows you to still share your calendar.

  • I cannot access iTunes songs showing in external hard drive

I recently closed my dropbox account and moved its content to an external hard drive. This included iTunes songs  and now the songs and related albums no longer show in iTunes when I open it up, although I can see the individual songs (but not in albums)  in the external hard drive.  There are a limited number of albums still showing when I open up iTunes but they are albums I have recently added to iTunes.
However I can see the albums and tracks in the iTunes media folder on my Mac internal hard drive, but they do not show up when I actually open up Itunes.I have followed advice found on this website and have tried to move my iTunes folder to the external drive so all the music is in one place, but i keep getting an 'error code 50' message appearing.  I have also tried to select the individual songs on the hard drive and move them to the media folder but there are no 'albums' to move them into and they just sit there as individual songs.  I have a macbook air which is one year old and a WD My Passport ultra 1TB external hard drive.  I am using OSX version 10.9.5 with 8GB of memory.  As you can tell from my endeavours, I do not really understand the way iTunes works and it may be that the various songs and albums in the media folder need to be organised in a different way perhaps, so that they are visible when I open up iTunes?
As I have lots of space on my external hard drive and am running out of space on my Mac hard drive, ideally I would like all my iTunes folders to be held on my external drive, as it is always plugged in to my Mac, and for iTunes to be 'pointed' to the hard drive.   Any advice please?
    Thanks
    Elizabeth

All kinds of things going on.
About the error code.  Do you men "50" or do you mean "-50"?  It is critical things get reported exactly here.  Error -50 is a very unhelpful generic communications error with a number of possible causes.  Something between the drive to which you are downloading and the drive from which it is all coming is not working correctly, with probably dozens of possibilities.  I guess one simple possibility is if this is a brand new drive it likely came formatted for Windows use and needs reformatting for Mac.

Basic workings of iTunes.  When you add a file to iTunes it puts the file in a specific location designated in you Media Folder preferences setting and makes a note in a database file (library.itl) of where it put it.  When you want to play the track iTunes looks up where the file should be, goes there and plays that file.  iTunes does not inventory its media folder for new additions.  For iTunes to recognize tracks they have to be added to iTunes either by importing, dragging to iTunes, or dragging to the Automatically Add to iTunes folder.  If files added to iTunes are later moved by you in Finder, particularly to another drive, iTunes loses track of them completely and give you a broken link indicator " ! ".

I don't know exactly how Dropbox works but basically by moving all your files instead of letting iTunes do the relocating you have broken all the links to your older files in iTunes.  You can either repair them one by one, by one, by one....  or you can rebuild your library, or essentially create a new library and start over again (you did read those links I provided didn't you?).  If you are prepared to start over, hold down the option key while starting iTunes.  Create a new library on the external drive.  Drag all your media files to the Automatically Add to iTunes folder in the iTunes folder on that drive.

  • How can I retrieve all of my Itune songs back?

I reccently had my computer re-booted because it was freezing a lot so they restored my computer like new. The bad thing about that is that all of my itune songs are gone now and when i plugged in my ipod it deleted them as well.If there is any way that you can please plaese help me get these songs back i'd been more than thankful.

If you didn't make a back-up of your music/movie purchases to restore from (as you are advised to do) then I'm sorry to say that the policy on lost purchases is that you have to pay to download them again:
"Products may only be downloaded once; after being downloaded, they cannot be replaced if lost for any reason. Once a Product is purchased or rented (as applicable) and you receive the Product, it is your responsibility not to lose, destroy, or damage the Product, and Apple shall be without liability to you in the event of any loss, destruction, or damage" iTunes Store: Purchased content can be downloaded only once
Purchased applications can be downloaded over again, see this article for details: How to redownload purchased applications from the App Store
Failing this, you could try contacting iTunes Store Customer Service and you might be able to persuade them to sanction a second free download. There have been occasional reports in the iTunes forum of this happening, however just be aware that they are not under any obligation to do so. If you click on this link it'll take you to the support/contact page: Customer Service - iTunes Store Support

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores and sifnout and sign back in
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • Just bought iTunes song and can't make a ring tone..??..

I just bought a .99 cent iTunes song and when I right click on the song in iTunes it tells me that "This song cannot be made into a ringtone" "This ensemble can no longer be made into a ringtone"
Anyone know or had this problem before? I only bought this song for a ringtone and now I can't use it.

You can make a ring-tone using Garageband out of your own music library. It's very simple. See the link I posted. Of course you need to have Garageband to do this.

  • Restoring itunes songs kep on external hard drive

hi all - some time ago on my power pc mac I put my entire itunes songs on an external drive, whilst keeping the song details on the computer. My power pc gave up the ghost and I transferred the contents of the old power pc mac to my new intel imac. The problem is that the intel mac cannot read the external hard drive and therefore cannot play the songs. Thankfully all the songs were backed up onto my time capsule and I have them all on the next intel mac - it is just that the computer cannot read the correct path to match the songs to the titles. Any advice? No data has been lost - I just want to avoid spending hours recreating my playlists etc.

    Lewis,
I truly hope you have your current working iTunes Library and music files still on the original PC. From what I read of your process, you did not backup the music files at all.
There is little need to backup the iTunes Program Files as long as you have the installer file available (or can download the most current one from Apple).
Here is a link for my method to Completely Backup iTunes.
This is somewhat similar, but helps with moving (cloning) iTunes to another PC: Move (Clone) Your iTunes
Give them a read over and post back here with any questions.

  • Can I store iTunes songs onto the iPod by using it as a HDD?

Hello. I would like to know if I can store iTunes songs onto the iPod but not as a nMP3 player but as an external HDD. For example, suppose I load 1000 songs onto my iPod to listen to, could I take those same 1000 songs and store them as well? 80 GB is about 10 times the storage I'll ever need so instead of backing up all of my songs onto a DVD or external HDD, I wanted to store them on my iPod. I understand that I will be storing the same songs twice (one for listening and one for backup). Is it possible?

A similar issue but with video files. I have created several Gb of video files and backed them up on DVD. Now I want to only store them on the iPod Classic and be able to paly them on the iPod. My current method is to copy the video files onto the iPod (with disk use enabled) and set iTunes to NOT copy songs/video to the iTunes Music folder. Now when the iPod is connected I drag the video files to iTunes and it creates a link to them (located on the iPod whjich is behaving as an external hard disk) and lists them under TV Shows (or Movies). I can now sync them to the iPod and play them successfully.
Although this works I end up with two copies of each video file on the iPod. I am guessing that if I delete the original (data) video file iTunes will get upset and remove the second copy from the iPod as well when I next do a sync.

  • Can't listen to bought itunes songs

    Hey,
when I try to listen to an itunes song I just bought, meaning when i click on the song, a sign appears saying my "macbook is not activated to play this song".
If I want to activate my macbook I should fill in apple ID and passowrd.
    So I do so.
The sign that appears then says: your computer already is activated.
    HUH????
    Everytime the same funny story.
    What can I do??

    Hey,
I had a chat with support who sent me this link:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1389?viewlocale=en_US
I followed ALL these steps, including the one where I had to log in to my admin account, and it still asks me to please activate my mac everytime when I want to listen to the song. But my mac IS ACTIVATED. don't get it
Another weird thing happened when I logged in my admin account: now some how a third account on my computer has been created: a "Guest User" account. Huh? Can I delete that one. dont need it.

  • Problem Solved: iTunes Songs Cutting Off

    Hello Everyone,
I just thought I'd share my knowledge with you all. Granted, my solution may not be your solution but I'm putting it out there for everybody to know.
I was on the phone with Apple iTunes Tech Support for 2 hours going through a really lengthy process of trying to figure out the solution when my host and I finally realized that the solution was a simple one (maybe not, if you have more than a dozen songs having this problem). The problem was that some of my iTunes songs, for no reason at all, were being cut off at the end (usually around a minute or so left in them) and then my iTunes would start playing the next song (unless I had it on the "loop one" setting and then it would loop back to the beginning of that song). The problem, it seems, stemmed from a corrupted song link to the actual file.
    The solution:
    1) Open a Finder Window
    2) Click on the Music tab
    3) Click on the iTunes folder
    4) Go into your iTunes Media (or iTunes Music) folder
    5) Click on the Music Folder within
    6) Click on whichever Artist the song comes from and then its Album
    7) Check to make sure you have the song in there
    8) Open iTunes
    9) Delete the problem song from your iTunes application (but make sure to click the option that says Keep File)
    10) Click on the same song in your Music Folder and open it in iTunes
The link should now be fixed and your song should play without complications. You'll have to do this with every song that has this problem but at least it will work. By the way, reinstalling your iTunes doesn't fix the problem because it's the link that's corrupted, not the application nor the song, so you'll have to do it this way.
    Hope this helps!
    - Hannah (Failisse)

Does the track play correctly in Quicktime Player?  If it does then it is an iTunes issue.  If it doesn't then it is possible the file was not completely downloaded, or is corrupt.  If you believe it is corrupt:
If you are in a country where re-downloading is possible (check this with iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match Availability by Country - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5085), delete the track (and the original file) and download again (Downloading [using iOS or computer] past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store - http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519).  See tips on downloading in https://discussions.apple.com/message/19097773, especially unchecking the "Allow Simultaneous Downloads" box in the downloads tab of iTunes.
Select the store on the left side of iTunes.
Click on Purchased on the right side under Quick Links.
You can re-download your available previous purchases.

  • Slideshow preset does not display iTunes songs

Macbook pro with OS X Yosemite Version 10.10
    Aperture 3.5.1
slideshow preset does not display list of itunes songs for music to accompany slide show (it did use to do this perfectly satisfactorily). Clicking to open itunes does not help.
    Itunes 12.0.0.140

Graham, the songs that are only in iCloud will show with a cloud icon with a download link.  Click this link to download the song to your mac. It will stay in iCloud as well.  But the local copy should show in iPhoto.  In the example below, the song "Crying in the Rain" does show in iPhoto, because it has been downloaded, but the other songs do not.

  • HT1725 my recent itunes songs did not download completely. How do I redownload them?

my recent itunes songs did not download completely. How do I redownload them?

If your country's iTunes Store allows you to redownload purchased tracks, I'd delete your current copies of the dodgy tracks and try redownloading fresh copies. For instructions, see the following document:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
Otherwise, I'd report the problem to the iTunes Store.
Log in to the Store. Click on "Account" in your Quick Links. When you're in your Account information screen, go down to Purchase History and click "See all".
Find the items that are not playing properly. If you can't see "Report a Problem" next to the items, click the "Report a problem" button. Now click the "Report a Problem" links next to the items.

You need to go back to 7.4.2. I had the same problem and went to 7.4.3 and it still didn't work. Your problems should be resolved if you roll it back one prior. Here is the link:
