  • Call Forwarding with Skype Number

I have a skype number and a couple questions. I have searched the forums and did not see this question answered.
I have an unlocked iphone and travel througout a different country every month or so. Each new country means a new sim card and a new number.
My question is: Will purchasing the skype world subscription cover the costs of each country (as long as the country is covered in the plan)? It states that the subscription only covers mobiles in some countries and landlines in others. So if I purchase the unlimited world (and assuming I am in one of the countries covered) will this be all I need to receive unlimited forwarded calls to my mobile?
I hope this isnt too confusing. Thanks!

Hi, Salsy20 and Joeriba, and welcome to the Community,
Please check your call forwarding settings; Skype does not determine when to activate call forwarding based upon the number of rings; it is based upon an increment of time.  For example, in the screen shot, below, the default increment is 10 seconds (circled in orange pen).  You would need to determine and then experiment with how many rings = [x] seconds, or set to 0.  Remember, if you make any changes to any settings, click Save!
Here is a link to the library of FAQ articles related to call forwarding:

  • Any way to link two iPhones (numbers) with iMessage and iOS6?

iOS6 unifies iMessage with your devices . . . but . . . what do you do to unify two iPhones for iMessage?? I have a work iPhone, and a personal iPhone, in the settings for iOS6 you can add multiple emails, but only ONE phone number. Any way to link more than one phone? Would using the same Apple ID work?

To those having the problem of un-linking your phone from your wife's phone, etc . . .
I am NOT linked with my wife's phone because she has a separate iCloud account, even though we use the same Apple ID for apps, music, etc. with iTunes. You can have a distinct and separate Apple ID for iTunes vs. the one you use for iCloud. Same setup on my daughter's phone.
My problem with my other personal phone may be that I have downgraded my phone to upgrade the rest of the family when I got my work 4s. My personal phone is now a 3G, and there is no iCloud or iOS6 for the 3G. I may have to wait until I upgrade to see if I can link them with the same iCloud account . . . and have iMessage relate to both.
On the same topic, I assume that this linking only works for iMessage, and NOT other text messages received from non-iOS phones/devices? Curious if I am correct on this.
When I had a work Blackberry, I had an app called txtforward on the Blackberry, that would send me an email to my iPhone (personal) when I got a text on my work phone. It made it much easier to not have to carry two phones. Have not found such an app in the app store to date.

  • Can I SMS promotional numbers with Skype?

For example.  Can I use Skype to text the word "sugar" to the number "12345"?

Looks too much like homework (especially as you're not the only person asking the same question).
So, just for the fun of it... here's a solution that doesn't use a WHILE LOOP as per your requirements, but using other techniques that, if you're that novice you can't figure out the WHILE LOOP version yourself, you're not going to be able to explain this one to your teacher...

  • The telephones numbers do not let me click and call with skype in firefox 5, how do I get firefox 4 again?

Before with firefox 3 and 4 I could call phone numbers with skype directly off of the web page by clicking the phone number. This feature no longer functions in firefox 5. What do i need to do. When I go to your website I can only download 5. I would like to back up a version if I need to because I use this skype calling numbers function daily. Please help

Firefox 4.0 is no longer available. You can download to the previous secure version which is 3.6.19 from here: [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html Download Firefox v3.6.19]
To ensure a clean installation, please do the following:<br><br>
#Go to "Programs and Features" in Control Panel and remove "Mozilla Firefox" choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (''don't checkmark the box'').<br><br>
#Then reboot, open Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files and delete the folder called "Mozilla Firefox".<br><br>
#Finally run the installation file you downloaded earlier.<br>
Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation.<br><br>
Having said that, make a backup of your bookmarks as a precaution as follows:<br><br>
#Click the orange Firefox button, go to '''Bookmarks''', then '''Show All Bookmarks''' to open the Bookmarks Manager.<br><br>
#Click the link to '''Import and Backup '''and then click '''Export HTML '''and save the file somewhere.

  • What's wrong with skype support?

Hi, I bought a subscription to call Finland, so I can call my 87yr. old mother. Worked fine for few months. This summer we took a trip to Finland to go see her. When we got back I tried calling her with Skype and her number was blocked by Skype. I contacted their support and they assured me this block would be taken away. I tried calling later againg and it was back. I now received email from Skype saying her number is blocked and I can't call it anymore with Skype???? I was told on the chat line it's because "fraudulent use" ??? My mother has not received any strange phone calls and she does not have a computer. I would sure like to talk with a supervisor, but even after requesting this on the chat all I get is this email giving me no reason why her number is suddenly blocked. This is VERY strange behavior by the Skype customer support. As a consequence of this I lost $4.99 on my subscription for not being able to make calls to my mom. I have now cancelled my subscription. Has anyone else had a similar situation?

Sorry to hear about your experience suffering from our ongoing anti-fraud activities. We take the security of user accounts and their product use very seriously which is why the number you were calling had to undergo an investigation. We've concluded that investigation and you should be able to call the number again now.

  • Mutiple skype numbers with voicemail

Is it possible to have mutiple skype numbers with a voicemail box for each number?

Hi, GAGolfer, and welcome to the Community,
Yes; provided each Skype Number is affiliated with its own separate Skype account!  Otherwise,
No; remember, subscriptions are tied to a particular Skype account.  If you purchase the maximum permitted ten (10) Skype Numbers on one account, that account's voice mailbox will respond for all ten Skype Numbers.
    Make sense?
    Kind regards,
    Elaine

  • Free international 800 calling to U.S. with skype

I will be residing in Thailand this winter and want to know if I will be able to call my bank in the U.S using their toll-free number? If so, will this call be free? Also, what format should I use when dialing this 800 number from Thailand to the U.S? Thanks for any input

If you are able to reach that number using Skype, it would be a free call.
To dial the number from Skype, you would dial +1 followed by the toll-free area code and number (total of 10 digits after the +1).  Please note that Skype does not guarantee calls to all toll-free numbers in the +1 country code.  Some of these numbers are actually in countries other than the USA (i.e. Canada, Bermuda, many islands in the Caribbean, plus some US territories in the Pacific), or the company/organization that has the number has limited where incoming calls can come from (those with the toll-free numbers can restrict calls to come in only from specific states and/or area codes).  Skype typically patches calls to US phone numbers, including any of the toll-free area codes, into the telephone network in California.  The toll-free number you want to call must be reachable by someone calling it from California in order to reach it with Skype.
You can simply test this before you leave for Thailand with Skype.  If you are not able to call that number with Skype, try to see if your bank offers a non-free number you can call.  Sometimes these are listed as "Call Collect" numbers or numbers specifically for use outside the USA.  You'd have to purchase Skype Credit or a subscription to call the non-free numbers, but that could be an option.
    Good luck!

  • Origin of call with Skype subscriptions

I understand the Skype subscriptions and their rates when calling TO a specific country, but does it matter where you call FROM/ the origin of the call if you have a subsription to call that particular country?
For example:  If I buy a year subscription to call landlines and mobiles in the United States, for the $2.99 a month, does it matter WHERE I am calling from (such as France, London, Germany) as long as I am only calling TO the United States? Or is that rate only for people in the U.S. trying to call others in the U.S? I'm a U.S. resident studying abroad for a year and wasn't sure if the origin of the call/ where I call from, is as important as where the subsription is set up to call to.

When calling telephones, the people you call may see a number based on where Skype patches your call into the telephone network.  When calling phones across the USA and Canada, this is often done from locations in California.  Users have no control over where Skype patches calls into the telephone network, as this is done in part to minimize the costs for those calls (and how there are lower rates in general when calling with Skype, and "unlimited" subscriptions for some parts of the world).
Skype has been doing this for many years, even before its acquisition by a big US-based software company.  It's not some part of a scheme for the US taking over the world.  It is probably cheaper for Skype to patch calls bound for Canadian phone numbers into the phone network from wherever it is being done now (probably in California) than it would be to patch the calls into the phone network somewhere in Canada.

  • Cannot Call 0800 or 0845 etc. numbers using Skype ...

    Hi,
Whenever I try to call a UK 0800 or 0845 Number using the Skype Connectme Box, the line goes dead after an initial couple of seconds of the usual "skype warbling".
    I have tried dialling the number as is - I.e. 0800 123456 and also using the UK codes with and without the leading zero  - I.e. 00 44 0800 1234546 and 00 44 800 123456.
The Skype Connectme is NOT connected to a normal landline - It is Skype only.
When dialling using the Skype system on my Windows Laptop, the calls go through perfectly.
As I need to call these types of numbers regularly, can someone please tell me what the solution is ASAP.
    Thanks,
    Ros

I don't believe what I said was incorrect in whole.  In the past 10 years countries (including Egypt) and several ISPs have handled Skype differently throughout the years.  Toll-free numbers do filter their calls, even I filter my calls with my call forwarding service for my virtual home number separate from my Skype number.
If what you are saying is correct then that would fall under the category of steps taken to prevent abuse and fraud.  If a decision like that was made, it may have also been made at the behest of others and was probably not made lightly.  A deny of that nature may supersede the ability to allow an individual account to be waived.  Even if it could be, the abuse rate may be so high and sporatic even by multiple appearingly good, long standing accounts that it may make the ability to allow virtually unmanageable.
It sounds rather unfortunate in this case that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.  The only time I've personally come across a seemingly global restriction on a set of numbers by Skype, is when it was actually followed by the error message "You can't call this number on Skype right now".  I would hope you would have received a similar error of that nature alluding to a restriction in place but then again that might not be an option for a regionally or IP deny range.  I don't know if a proxy or VPN tunnel would change things or be a viable solution for you.
Toll-free numbers generally have some form of toll number counterpart or alternate means  of communication.  The only major downfall of that is having to pay for that toll call.

  • Making calls with Skype Number

First I was wondering if you need wifi to use a Skype Number?
Secondly, how much would it cost to make out-going calls using the Skype Number (would I need Skype credits)?
    Thank you!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hi, 761w. and welcome to the Community,
Let us start by clearing up some confusion: a Skype Number is for incoming calls only.  The sole purpose of having a Skype Number is to permit people who do not use Skype to call you using a real land line number, so you can receive their call on Skype.   More about Skype Numbers here: Skype number
So, a Skype Number is not related in any way to calls placed to fixed or land lines or mobile numbers.  You are correct; you will need to purchase credit or a subscription to cover the cost of these calls.
    You are welcome!
    Best regards,
    Elaine
