Link to download and choose save target as...

How do i creat a link where when the user click on it, it
will download the file and give the option to choose save target
as..

Thanks Walt.
so for your pc to open a dialog box asking you if you want to
save that file as a target ... when you click in a link that file
should be diferent then standards pdf, gif, jpg, etc...????
But in some pages for example the video is playing and bellow
there is one link saying click here to download and choose save
target as...
that is what i want to do and still didnt understand. I know
if the user has a realplayer for example, the realplayer can give
already the option to do it. but those that dont have a
realplayer...
is it making any sense...
Sorry if a bit silly, but i am new in Dreamweaver.
Thanks anyway.

Sign in to your Adobe account online and look in the Plans/Products sections to see which program it might have been.

  • Sometime I search a pdf file in google, but when I right click on the link and choose "save link as" or "download with IDM" it says that the target is url (html extension) and save a webpage file. It happens with firefox 4 and there's no problem in IE.

it happens for both Adobe Acrobat and Foxit phantom.

First, I sent an email to the author of PhotoME to inform him of the serious issues his addon caused with Firefox latest versions.
Now, for those of you who do not have the PhotoME addon and yet experience the same problem that I had and that I described above, I suggest the following strategy.
As PhotoME did cause these problems with Firefox latest versions, I am pretty covinved other addons probably might cause these problems too. Therefore, adopt the following method.
Test one addon at a time to see if this particular addon is behind your Firefox issues like the ones I had.
So, disable one addon only at a time. Then close your Firefox and restart it from scratch and see if you still have your Firefox problems. You must restart the Firefox browser from scratch. If you still have these Firefox problems, re-enable the disabled addon, restart your Firefox (again!) and repeat the same method for every single addon that you have.
Try to be selective by choosing first addons that are more likely to cause your Firefox problems such as not very well-known or not very popular addons (like it was the case for the PhotoME addon).
If this method works or if it does not work, report it on this web page so that others can be helped with your comments.
I hope this method will help you because I was really upset that I had these Firefox problems and I first thought it was the fault of Firefox, only to discover later that this PhotoME addon was the culprit and had caused me such upset.

  • Where can I find a link to download and install ADobe Digital edition on my iPad Air ?

I Just bought a book in PDFs format with my iPad. The vendor site says I need to install Adobe digital edition, but I can't find a link to install adobe digital edition on an iPad air. Can anybody help ?

    Hey edsonascimento,
You might need to first deactivate Acrobat from the Help menu on your old machine.
Then, you can download Acrobat X Pro from the below mentioned link and activate the software (from Help menu) with the same serial key:
Download Acrobat products | Standard, Pro | DC, XI, X
Please note that you can activate and run Acrobat software on maximum two machines (say your desktop at work and laptop at home)
In order to use it on third machine, you need to first deactivate it from any of the old computers.
    Hope this helps.
    regards,
    Anubha

  • When I do a download and select SAVE instead of RUN, I create a file but it is not a file that I can do an install from.

I am attempting to download a savable image of FireFox on one computer and then transfer it to another computer on portable medium. I want to have FireFox on the second computer without ever having to go on line with Windows Internet Explorer.
My problem is that whenever I run Internet Explorer on the second computer (Compaq Presario 2100 with XP), svchost runs amuck gobbling up all RAM and maxing out CPU. Once svchost gets into this state, it won't let go, even when I exit Explorer. I have even reformatted the hard drive and rebuilt Windows. I hope that this won't happen with FireFox. Do you have any insight into the svchost problem? Any suggestion on how to save an installable file?
    Thanks, Richard Rogers

    read basic about svchost:

  • How do I "Save target as ..." when it does not exist on right clicking in Firefox?

Some web sites allow files and free mp3 tracks to be downloaded by right clicking on an icon and selecting "save target as ...". But Firefox does not have this option. How do others handle this? I have had to go back to Internet Explorer to use this privilege.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== Always been so for me.

no it isn't........this option saves as an HTML document link. it does not download the file.

  • I mistakenly saved a download, and checked the "always do this for thid type of file" now I cannot open a file without saving it first, because it does not take me to that same dialog box.

When you open a file from an email, you get a dialog box Open or Save this file. I wanted to save a particular file, so I clicked Save. The problem is, I had already clicked on "do this every time for files like this" so now it won't give me the dialog box back for when I just want to open a file, not save it. I have searched Options, to no avail.

'''''"always do this for thid type of file"''''' means exactly what it says: '''<u>always</u>''' .
Go to Tools > Options > Applications, locate and click on the Content Type for the item, change Action to "Always ask". This will cause a dialog to open giving you a choice of opening with an appropriate plugin for Firefox or saving the item to your hard drive. See:

  • Cannot download and install Flash Player tried numerous times and it says installed

Adobe Flash Player / Version: 11.9.900.117

Download the Adobe Flash Player installer directly by right clicking the following link: Flash Player for ActiveX (Internet Explorer) and selecting "Save target as".
Save it to your Downloads folder - DO NOT run it yet.
    Reboot your system.
BEFORE opening anything else, go to your Downloads folder and run the installer.
If IE still gives you trouble, see: Enabling Flash Player in Internet Explorer  and ActiveX Filtering in Internet Explorer  to be sure it's enabled and ActiveX isn't blocking content.

  • When saving an image, why does Firefox download it again, although it is already downloaded and displayed?

If you right click an image on a website and choose "save image", it will be downloaded again. It is already in the browser cache though. There are addons which let you pick it from the cache.
Why doesn't Firefox just save the cached image and instead downloads it again? There seems to be no obvious rationale to do it like that (and lots to use the cached version).

Thanks you, but that's not an answer to my question.
I'm not looking for workarounds. I would like to know (preferably from someone at Mozilla) why the browser works this way and if they are going to change it.

  • Downloading and installing

I am trying to download and install the trial version of PS, but as soon as I am asked to sign in, it connects and then automatically logs me out. I just signed up yesterday and if this is how Abobe does business and their products are this difficult to use, I give them and epic fail, will not purchase in the future, nor will I ever recommend using this product. What can be done to be able to log in from the desk top to install finish the download and installation of Photoshop.

    Hi,
I'm sorry it isn't going smoother for you. Where are you trying to sign in, the creative.adobe.com web portal or the Creative Cloud desktop application? Do you have previous versions of Photoshop running and are you signed into that version with a different AdobeID then the one you registered for the Free Creative Cloud membership?
This has a list of some ways to step through the install process:
Creative Cloud Help | Install, update, or uninstall apps
Here's another page with troubleshooting links:

    Sorry again, hopefully these help.
