Link to Google Earth

How can I can have a button in iWeb which when clicked takes me to a specific location of google earth (either within my site or a separate window)?
Thanks

I haven't the foggiest. This is the first I've heard of the Google Earth AVI. You're the first to mention it in these forums. It sounds like you have to sign up for a AVI account, give them the URL to the page you want to put it on and then add the code. But I didn't see where to get the code.
It's API (not AVI): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/API.
You sign up with google and they send you a hash key, then you have to work out the code with the API and add to your page using HTML Snippet.
But you can keep it simple and go with google map (instead of google earth).
I have a rough mashups system for my geotag system (see my home page), generate google earth KML, google map and then link back to iweb photos page.
Sorry, I'm not posting any of that here (not just yet).

  • Why doesn't update link for Google Earth plugin work?

    Using information I found here:
    https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/925671?as=aaq
I was able to update the plugin.
However, the problem that remains is that the link which Firefox provides in the plugin-up-to-date report does not work! This would appear to be a bug; and, until it is fixed, lots of folks will continue to be confused by this behavior.
(There is also additional confusion attributable to Google, in that, if you visit their Web page for the plugin, it tells you. "Good news, you already have the plugin.", even when you are not running the latest version. That message tells you what version you are running, but it does not mention the current version for comparison.)

In the plugins page it is called Google Earth Plugin 6.2.0.5788. The website for it is [http://www.google.com/earth/explore/products/plugin.html http://www.google.com/earth/explore/products/plugin.html]. I have a custom Webkit browser I made that runs it just fine.

  • Google earth won't associate with web link

I hope someone out there has a simple solution.
I am trying to open the attached web page in google earth. http://www.stcatherines.co.uk/index.php/download_file/view/1202/1162/439/
I have previously been able to open the link by using the GE icon in the open with drop down box, but that has now disappeared.
Can anyone tell me how to get it back or any solution to the problem of opening a file or web page in google earth.
    Many thanks

    Hi ..
Delete the currently installed Google Earth app and the Chrome browser.
Don't just drag the apps to the Trash because that won't delete all the app's associated files.
Instructions here > How To Completely Uninstall Software under Mac OS X
Then restart your Mac then re download Google Earth and Chrome Browser.

  • [SOLVED]Google Earth and LSB

    Good Morning Fellow Archers,
I've got an up to date x64 Arch install. I wanted to install Google-Earth from the AUR but was not able. I tried both packages, and both of them are failing looking for LSB-3. The current LSB in the repository is rev 4.
I followed one thread where I manually created a link for a lsb-3 install, and both google-earth packages still fail.
I do have the multi-libs enabled as I have one app that uses wine32 and it's happy. And the NVidia lib32 stuff is all there too.
I have X-Plane 9, which is a 32 bit app only, and it runs fine so I know the x32libs are all in place and working.
I think the long-term solve is for the google-earth AUR maintainers to square away their builds for lsb-4....but I'm not an expert in package builds or I'd jump in and help.....but reality is that I am not an expert.
In the meantime....how do I make this work without pounding a 'square' peg into a 'round' hole?
    Assistance will be sincerely appreciated!
    Dave
PS: Yes...I did try to follow the wiki article too.....

Thank you for the response. I have it installed and it works perfectly. THANK YOU.
The solve was simple. I was brain-locked on the lsb in the arch repository, and was not taking note of that I needed the lsb from the AUR.
    This was totally my error.
Again, thank you for the response.

  • Unable to download Google Earth to new macbook pro running Yosemite.

On Google Earth site the download link fails to start loading immediately. Using the link provided in the event of such failure I am taken to di.google.com which starts to load then also fails part way through. Whether I go straight to the google site or go via a third party link the same thing happens. Any solutions?

No - About this Mac>More Info>Support>User Manual takes you to the page on the Apple site where the manual can be downloaded - and it still doesn't work.

  • KMZ (Google Earth) files on iWeb site

I use MotionX GPS to record tracks of our trips.
I then email the track to myself. This results in an attached KMZ file.
Launching the file launches Google Earth and the track is nicely displayed with the start and finish pins at the top and bottom of the window.
I would like to add the tracks to my iWeb blog, so that a visitor could select a track and GE would launch (in another window, if need be) and display the track.
Does anyone (Old Toad maybe?) know how to do this in iWeb?
    Thanks, HNick

OK. I think I got it so far. I got the GE plug-in (really the API, right?). Got my magic ID number (long). I now have GE in iWeb.
there are two parts, the ifr part is web gadget and an api for embed kml link to the gadget.
What I don't understand is how to get the KMZ files (one for each trip - 6 of them so far) into iWeb, so that they can be opened in GE.
first, upload your kmz files to your web host.
It looks like Cyclosaurus' example uses the track as part of the GE api - in my case that would be a separate instance (?) of GE for each track?
that's correct, go to my GE example here: http://goo.gl/w307f
copy the url (it's a long url) and paste it in text editor.
search for &upkmlurl= , you'll see it points to my kmz file on my site, replace my url with an absolute url points to one of your kml file.
also search for &title= and replace what after that with a title for your track.
end product is your GE URL to view in a browser. - long url -
back to your iweb project, add an html snippet; copy + paste the following:
    <iframe src="put your GE URL here - the long url " frameborder="0" style="width: 100%; height: 100%;" scrolling="no" marginheight="0" marginwidth="0" allowtransparency="true"></iframe>
in iweb this will display as google map because iweb does not have support for GE plug-in, this also is true for browser that does not support GE plug-in such as ie. that's the fall back mode.
repeat the process for the other KMZ.

  • I am having trouble displaying Google Earth Plug-in

My embedded Google Earth plugin suddenly stopped working in Firefox. It's worked fine for months, still works in IE and Chrome, but suddenly it won't display in Firefox. Here is the link:
    http://www.miraclecenter.org/services/study_groups.html

    Morbus:
You don't understand the Question!! Hence your solution has a high probability of failure. What the original post was saying is that the Google Earth Viewer Plug in, which is an embedded widget provided by Google isn't working in FF 6.3.10 either. I am having the same issues and it works fine in IE and Chrome. It was working fine for me too, but not now.
You really think if I call or email Google they will fix the problem? I really doubt it. Seems to me like they would prefer FF not to run the embedded player. I could be wrong though.
Do you still suggest that I contact Google and ask them to fix "there" code so FF can display and run the Embedded Google Earth Player? Would love to hear another solution if possible.
    Thanks
    ~Byron

  • Google Earth Plugin doesn't work on Firefox. But it works on other browsers such as Google Chrome.

Google Earth plugin always says "There was a problem with the Google Earth Plugin. Please try reloading the page. If that doesn't help, you can re-install the Google Earth Plugin using this link." However, other browsers such as Google Chrome does not display that kind of problem.
    Firefox version: 36.0.04

Contrary to how it may look, this is an issue with the Google Earth Plugin and not with FireFox. This support forum is for questions related to the products listed on the main support page directly only. As such this question is off topic for this forum.
However, I reccomend openening a thread on the Google Earth plugin forum at https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!categories/earth/problems-and-errors
Annecdotally, the plugin works fine for me under Firefox 36.0.04 and does not work for many Chrome users posting to the forum I linked to above.

  • Google Earth has a hidden Flight Simulator...

The latest version Google Earth has an hidden Flight Simulator.

the entry command (Applekey + Option + A) doesn't work on my PB G4 PPC 867MHZ.
    any tips , solutions ??

Seems like it works after getting the 4.2.x update. However, I couldn't immediately get it to work. When I engaged caps lock, and then entered Cmd-Option-A, I got the Fight Sim info window.
I'll have to try this out... Thanks for the tip. After that, the option is in the Tools menu, even if you quit and restart. And just Cmd-Option-A goes to the flight sim window.

  • Importing google earth into iMovie

Is there a way to import the moving Google earth into iMovie?

This is second hand knowledge so take it with a grain of salt.
For professional or commercial use, you need a pro version (paid version) of Google Earth, and you can create this within Google Earth.
For non-commercial, or home use, you can do this with the free version of Google Earth, but you will have to use a screen capture program to capture it. QuickTime Player X comes with your Mac and will capture the screen for you. There are many other screen capture programs as well, like Snaps Pro, etc.
QuickTime Pro will save the screen capture as a quicktime file. You can import it into an iMovie Event using FILE/IMPORT MOVIE from within iMovie.
There is a really interesting application of this. You can "zoom in" on a particular place in the world from outer space using Google Earth. This would be hard to do in iMovie, but it can be done in Final Cut Pro X and Motion.

It is possible that some security software is blocking firefox access, what Firewall and security software do you use, that is probably the commonest reason for problems. Have a look at these articles for suggestions

  • How do you import maps like "Google Earth?"

Hi putting together a travel DVD and wanted to have maps of countries we had visited and then zoom in on smaller areas and towns. Anyone know a software package or web link for this? Cheers

If you are interested in adding motion, take a look at iShowU http://www.shinywhitebox.com/home/home.html or Road Trip Effect http://www.solrobots.com/roadtrip/index.html
I've used Road Trip and it works fine. It's not fancy, but it gets the job done. The standard version is $9.95 USD. I've downloaded a demo version of iShowU, but have not used it. It's priced at $42 USD. I think you could use iShowU to capture the motion of a Google Earth "fly to" animation. It would certainly be less expensive than the high priced Google Earth option.

  • Why is Firefox involved in taking sides with Google Earth's dumping of the website Climate Viewer News?

I like researching and I have sites that credible although the gov't may not like the data these sites collect for public awareness. Climate Viewer News relies on Google Earth and now this site can no longer do the work they've always done in getting the truth out there to the public... And Google Earth is bought and paid for and controlled by Gov't agencies in preventing those sites who value the citizens constitutional right to know what our leaders and others in power are doing to not only humans, but to this planet and more. I thought Mozilla Firefox's goal was to provide internet browsing privace and security to the public without interference from those control freaks who have the money and power to control it all. Where's the freedom? What about integrity and ethics? By submitting an opinion that is against Firefox leaves me wide open for attack...But I have always supported Firefox and the other programs from Mozilla and now this at CV News website "....“Mozilla is not interested in or working on Pepper at this time.” May 2011..." It saddens me greatly to see the good guys being bought and paid for. I have many friends who are Open Source and maybe they should hear about this issue: https://climateviewer.com/2014/12/28/death-google-earth-climate-viewer-3d/

We do not discuss development issues of decisions on this forum. It is for support of Firefox endusers, and mainly answers are from fellow Firefox users. Mozilla developers do not (or only <s>unyieldingly</s>!! ''exceedingly'' rarely) post here.
Of course we are not trying to be obstructive so links to where this is discussed,or to relevant information is ok.
Just some brief comments on the background.
    * FlashPlayer <br />Let's for starters point out that FlashPlayer is proprietary closed source software, and Adobe's FlashPlayer does not even support all the Operating Systems Firefox does. For instance newer versions of Android are not supported, and Linux is only getting critical security updates with that due to cease soon.
*Pepper <br /> Is a Google project, it effectively builds FlashPlayer into the Chrome browser. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Native_Client#Pepper
    * HTML5 <br />There are many HTML5 projects & features supported or in development for Firefox and that is probably the way forward.
I am not sure which forum is the best for you to try to engage with Firefox developers but see these
    * https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/about/forums/
*'''Please read''' this https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/about/forums/etiquette/ <br /> And note I am not aware which forum this subject would be best discussed in. I suggest you politely ask that when you make an initial post.
