Link to InfoView folder XIR3

Hello everybody,
Is it possible to open to an InfoView folder in XIR3 from a link?
I use this link:
http://IP:PORT/InfoViewApp/listing/main.do?appKind=InfoView&service=/InfoViewApp/common/appService.do&initialFolderId=1071
But after login to BOE the initialFolderId is u201Cnullu201D. So the system forgot the FolderID.

What can I do?

In preferences (upper right) you can set infoview to open in a specific folder on a per user basis, would that work?

If you mean build a url to link to a folder that exists inside your XIR2 software, you can't. The folders that appear in InfoView or the CMC are not actually physical folders on a server. They are in the data in the CMS database.
If you want to display the reports that are in a specific folder, you'll need to build an application using the BusinessObjects SDK. There are some good examples in the Developer Library - http://devlibrary.businessobjects.com/BusinessObjectsXIR2/en/devsuite.htm. Select:

Link to A folder View in a PDF Portfolio - feature no longer working - please advise

Hi, I am no longer able to link to a Folder View of a PDF Portfolio:
Within a PDF portfolio i need to link from a PDF to a folder view in the Portfolio. I am using Link Action - Go to Page View.
This used to work for me - very important feature that no longer works. Please advise a workaround.
Steps:
1. Start a PDF Portfolio that contains files and folders
2. Open a PDF in the Portfolio
3. in the opened PDF click Add or Edit Link
4. Define a link area and set it to Go To A Page Vies
5. In the past i have been able to target a Folder View in the Portfolio - ie. direct a user not to a file, but instead to a folder view that contains relevant files. I would do this by setting the Target Page View to my desired folder view
6. This used to work in bringing a user to the folder view i specify. Now it does nothing. If i go back to the PDF and EDIT the Link i see this. File: Parent Document Page 1. This in fact does nothing.
Please advise, am i doing this wrong, it used to work. I have tried several workarounds, with no luck.

There's an extension or two, or a combination of extensions which seem to be causing that in Firefox 6.0.2. One that has been mentioned is TabMix Plus.

You need to figure out what is causing it, and disable that extension/s until they are fixed by their developer.

I can no longer drag a link to a folder -- a Windows folder -- to save it. This feature is (was) very useful as I could save links relevant to my work in the folder for the project.

In previous versions I have been able to drag the icon from the address bar to a Windows folder, producing a clickable link in that folder.
I even have FAQ and Help files on various web sites advising people to do that as it is very useful to have links to web sites in a folder relevant to the content of the folder.

This is very frustrating -- this feature worked in ver. 3, not sure about 4, but now FF 5 has removed it. This is important enough to me to either revert to v. 3 or use Opera (see below).
IE v. 8 has removed it too.
Opera v. 11 will do it -- but it only saves to the desktop and not to folders, so you have to drag the icon to the desktop and then drag it into the folder.
I use this regularly with presentations -- will be doing one next weekend -- and I take it on a USB memory stick to someone else's computer. I can click on a link in the presentation folder and have that page open in their default browser. It does me no good to have the link in my bookmarks back at my office.
If you're going to remove the feature, you might ought to remove the suggestion to use it at:

Is there any hope of apple adding a 're-link with media folder'-type function to iTunes?
I have 1000s of broken links after installing the latest version of iTunes and updating some files in my media folder. The location of my itunes library has not changed, and all the files are there (I know because I've just waited several hours for the files to be updated by my ultra-slow computer) - by my logic, there should be some menu option that simply re-synchronises with the media folder, just like itunes would do with an ipod - it can't be that hard can it? The only way I can restore a link is by clicking every song (I have over 28,000) and locating the file in the folder that iTunes claims to use as its media folder - the new version 10 option of then using this location to restore all broken links doesn't work because it only looks in the specific album file, and after a couple of times this dialog box no longer even comes up, so I couldn't ask it to do this even if I wanted to. At the moment the only option I can see is to completely wipe iTunes and re-load all my music from scratch - using my tired and over-worked computer this will realistically take around 15 hours that I don't have, and my computer will melt in the process. I wish I'd never tried to 'tidy up' my iTunes library...
PLEASE Apple, how hard can it be to have a function that searches for and restores broken links by itself????? I've told you where the music is - just flipping look for it yourself instead of getting me to do it!

You don't have to re-rip, re-import or re-download all your content. You can clear the iTunes library, either by selecting all in the libary and pressing the Delete key, saying "no" when it asks if you want to remove the files themselves, and then use the Add To Library command, selecting the iTunes Media folder (or iTunes Music folder, as applicable to your situation), and that will add back all your content. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes; if it does, something may be amiss with your hard drive or the library file is corrupted (in which case just delete the library file and re-do the Add To Library command).

I am getting the following error message when trying to open a link to a folder

"This file is set to be launched by this PDF file. This is currently disallowed by your system administrator."
Currently I am using Reader 9, I was using Reader 7 earlier today and the link opened the folder with no problem. Nothing has been changed on the PDF file containing the link, nothing has been changed in the link, and if I go to another computer in the office that is still running Reader 7 the folder still opens. I also tried another computer in the office running Reader 9, the folder doesn't open, and I get the same error message.
Any ideas on how to fix this issue would be great. Thanks

The issue that you are referring to maybe because of a fix provided by Adobe to prevent any external attacks. The following links may be of help to you:

To allow certain files of yours to be able to open external files and operate witout restriction, you can try and add the files to the Privileged locations section and the restrictions on the files will be lifted:
1. Open Adobe Reader 9.4.0 and goto Edit | Preferences
2. From the Left side pane, goto Security (Enhanced)
3. Click on Add File button and add the file for which you want the restrictions to be lifted. Click on OK to close the dialogs and relaunch Adobe Reader. This will enable you to open external attachments as well as allow JavaScripts to be executed from the PDF file mentioned.

Getting Infoview Folder Location in Crystal Reports

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to create a formula or function in Crystal Reports 2008 that would allow a Crystal Report to dynamically retrieve the Infoview folder path that it is in within Infoview XIR2 SP4?
Let's say in Infoview that I have a folder hierarchy with a report in a subfolder (sorry for the poor drawing), such as:
Public Folders -> Folder A -> Folder B -> Folder C -> MyReport.rpt
|----
> Folder D -> Folder E
I'm trying to find a way to create a formula or function in Crystal Reports that would return something like:
| Public Folders | Folder A | Folder B | Folder C
I'm using the pipe symbol as an example delimiter. Subsequently, if I were to move the report to Folder E in the above structure, the formula would return:
| Public Folders | Folder D | Folder E
Is this possible? I know that Crystal has a built-in function to get the path and file name of the report, but it returns the physical path and name of the file in the FRS, not the logical folder path within Infoview.

Hi Perry,
First, don't mix Report version and BOE versions. If you are on XI R2 then use CR XI R2 also. Or be careful, new functionality may cause problems in BOE.
There is no function in CR 2008 that could do that. You could however, if you are or have a developer available, write a UFL that could query BOE to get the info. They do need to be the same version though.
You may want to post your question in the BOE forum also, there may be a way to get the info using Query Builder.

Links - How to reorder links within a folder. Also, how to make folders open in a tree view?

I'm working on a portal in Sharepoint 2007. It appears that I can only have one set of "Links" on a page, so I am grouping my related links into folders. I'm having two issues with this...
#1. I need to change the order of the links within a folder. When I try to Change Order under the Actions menu, I only get the main list of links, not those within the folder. How can I reorder links within a folder?
#2. When I click a Links folder, all links go away, except for the links within that folder. Is there any way to make the Links list work in a Tree view?
Sorry for the newbie questions, but I've not worked much in Sharepoint and I had this project dropped on me. :(

What exact syntax do you want?
Have you tried UNC path as Margriet suggested (\\computerName\c$\fileShareFolder), it should work.
You can also share your fileshare folder to users, then input the UNC path link format like the following in list rich text field (e.g. omit the drive letter, c$ ),
\\computerName\fileShareFolder
or file://computerName/fileShareFolder

Link to download folder instead of image

I am looking to add a link to a folder that contains several
images. I would like the user to be able to download the folder
when they click the link and work similar to the action of a PDF.

Link to a folder in XML form

Hi Guys!
I was faced with a strange problem.
I want to add link to some folder to an XML form. Like with link to 'Read more' document in SAP's example.
But...
If I select folder in a moment of creation of XML form via standard browser controll, there is path to that folder ('/documents/Public documents' for example) in a field. On presentation time (in NewsExplorer iView) clicking on that link opens 'http://myportal.domain/irj/go/km/docs/documents/Public documents/' instead of 'http://myportal.domain/irj/go/km/navigation/documents/Public documents/'...
What can I do with that?

If you do not set "Start In" property of the "Browser" control, by default it will show you "root>>documents>>"
root = "http://servername:10000/irj/go/km/docs/"
For example if you select an image which is resided under "root\documents\teamindia.jpg" it will show you below path.
"http://servername:10000/irj/go/km/docs/documents/teamindia.jpg"
not as you expected below
"http://servername:10000/irj/go/km/nagivation/documents/teamindia.jpg"
if you need any specific repository folder for the target selection. Please set "Start In" property of the "Browser" control like below
Ex:
/Your repository name/followed by folder structure/
/XTest/Home/Documents/Images/

Link to Outlook folder

Has anyone used Access 2010s capability to link to an Outlook 2010 folder?
I have an Access 2010 application that links to an Outlook personal folder that is not in the default PST.
It’s a folder in a “PersonalFolders.pst”. I recently purchased a Surface Pro with Office15 and found this functionality is not working.
This is not too problematic since linking to a folder in the default PST still works, but it was a pain to troubleshoot.

Unable to create a folder link to a folder located at filesystem repository

Hello,
I have created a File System repository manager which is working OK.
The problem is that when I try to created a link between a folder located inside the /documents repository to any folder located at the repository I defined I receive this error:
"The item could not be created because an exception occurred in the framework". I couldn't find any meaningful info at the defaultTrace.
Any ideas?

(a) If you are (much) below SPS18, maybe try to upgrade.
(b) Double-check the default trace. It is not impossible, but at least unprobable that there is no info inside.
(c) If (a) and (b) don't help, open an OSS message...

Link to source folder broken

Hi everyone
I have just upgraded my Mac and the folder generated when I imported to lightroom now has a new location.
Hence all my images in lightroom are displayed with broken links.
Is there a simple way to re-establish the link?
The folder content remains unaltered its just that it is in a different place.
I can go though each image but there are 1000s.
Previous location: /Volumes/PDHD-01/01-LIGHTROOM ARCHIVE/ etc
Its the PDHD01 part of the thread that I need to replace.

Thank you for your prompt response and apologies for the delay in getting back to you.
I am unsure how to actually proceed with your advice.
I have a screen full of images with '?' symbols and although I can click on one image and re-establish a route to the source folder I do not know how to access all the subfolders with their images in one go.
The Lightroom prompts only seem to allow for one file at a time.
There is a ticked box at the bottom of the page which states 'Find nearby missing photos' but it only relinks the image files on the one folder.
I have 3000+ images on loads of separate folders...
So the question is - and I apologise if this is an obvious question - how do I gain access to the functions that will re-link all the subfolders with their image files in the main folder?
you state... Right click (or cttr click) on the highest level folder location shown as missing.... I just do not know where to click to find this..
