Link tool in Acrobat X Pro

I have just updated to CS 5.5 and I need to add a link to a button with the function "Attach to Email" (really easy in the previous version).
As far as I can see this does not seem to be possible in X Pro - am I missing something??
Using Windows 7.

The PDF is part of an on-going contract, we typeset case studies in various languages and they have a series of buttons which includes an "email" button.
It needs to work in this way:
The reader of the PDF clicks on the button to open their email client and then chooses who to send it to.
As an aside, I have just opened some previous jobs which where created using Acrobat 9 Pro, and when I open them in either X pro or Adobe Reader X the email buttons do not work, and yet they work in earlier versions of Acrobat.
I wonder if Adobe have removed this functionality from X?

  • Scripting shortcut for pencil tool in Acrobat 9 Pro?

Many of the tools in Acrobat 9 Pro have a keyboard shortcut (P=callout box, U=highlight, Z=marquee zoom...) but not the pencil tool. Anyone scripted a shortcut key or be willing to explain the process of writing a script and assigning it to a keystroke?
Why would Adobe overlook this tool?
And yes, I know AutoInk sells a plug-in for $69.

I have a problem with changing the frame-colour of a rectangle created with thre graphic-marks-tool in acrobat 7 pro.
Doesn't matter what frame colour i choose, it will always stay in black colour!
    What can i do??

Bob's right about creating a character style for the hyperlink, but there is no control to change the color for a rollover.
    Sadness. :-(

  • LINK TROUBLE WITH ACROBAT 8 PRO

I am in Win XP Pro with Acrobat 8 Pro, working out of a word processing program (WP) with a text that has some 4-line url's, such as
    http://www.wipo.int/pctdb/en/fetch.jsp?LANG=ENG&DBSELECT=PCT&SERVER_TYPE=19-00&SORT=412608 93-KEY&TYPE_FIELD=256&IDB=0&IDOC=1696415&C=00&ELEMENT_SET=BASICHTML-ENG&RESULT=25&TOTAL=13 511&START=1&DISP=25&FORM=SEP-0/HITNUM,B-ENG,DP,MC,AN,PA,ABSUM-ENG&SEARCH_IA=US2
When I print this wp file to pdf and create links in the pdf file, the above url is not recognized or truncated - it does not work while 1- and 2-line url's work fine.  Now if I resort to Tools > Advanced Editing > Link tool, just putting a frame around the url does not work either, until I select "open a web page" where Acrobat asks me for the link again, and I have to paste it in even though it already is in the pdf.  Of course, I can just create a small "clickable window" and use the link tool on it, but I still have to paste in the 4 lines.  So in my document, I have to shuttle 50 times between Acrobat and WP, copying the link from the latter and then pasting it into pdf, laboriously, one by one.
Is there not a better way?
My second problem is that once the Link Tool is checked, the little hand with the W for recognizing links is inoperative, and I haved to close Acrobat and restart - then everything is fine.  Clicking on any of the other tools does not seem to help.

Actually, your links are probably not embedded as you think, but just is Acrobat seeing something that looks like a link and marking it as such. It has problems when multiple lines are included due to the line structure. I am not sure that WP has the PDF Maker capability that gives the links. If you can embed PDF Marks in your WP file (probably as an EPS file like used to be done for transitions), you may be able to transfer the link that way - probably easier to just create it in the PDF. Adding the PDF Marks is basically what PDF Maker does for WORD. I don't remember if WP has the PDF Maker capabilities with Acrobat.

  • Converting excel link in mac acrobat x pro

I know you can maintain URL lionks when converting Excel to PDF on Windows with Acrobat X Pro. Can you do the same with the Mac version?

    What are you talking about?
If you use the Save As... > PDF  within Office2011 and 2008  you use the Apple PDF engine.
IF however you go to Print menu > PDF > Adobe PDF you make a genuine Adobe PDF using Adobe's PDF engine. It ieven uses the Acrobat Distiller Job options.
No wonder Macusers have go it alone. When the adobe employess don't know what's going on.
Click on the PDF button in the print menu.
Then hold button until menu pops up. Choose Adobe PDF or Adobe quality PDF (depending upon the version of OSX used).
menu choice will show High Quality , click on that button and choose desired job option. choose whether you want the PDF to open Reader as soon as its created or not.
    Click okay (or save)
Now you will be given opportunity change name or give desired name, choose desired location to save.
    Then hit Save.
Your Adobe quality PDF will be created.

  • Acrobat Pro 9 Link Tool

    Hi,
I am using the link tool in Acrobat Pro to link certain parts of a pdf document and then have the pdf accessed from a web browser
The links work fine on the browser, but it want the linked document to open in a new browser window. (ie: target=_blank)
It is currently opening it up in the same browser
Any ideas how to achieve this ?
    Thanks
    Geoff

Thanks for your suggestion. I've worked with one file at a time. So this is not an exactly answer. I'm afraid it's not possible to find a right solution: my problem has disappeared after another restart... So I'm confused now once more time. Maybe I should reinstall Acrobat - I've got upgraded version. But on the other hand: this software have worked fine for a couple of months.
Conlusion: the problem is magically resolved and normal solution remains unkown. I'm curious about it.
    Greetings

  • ACROBAT 9 PRO SOUND TOOL

I am having trouble placing and removing the black border around the Sound Tool in Acrobat 9 Pro.  This tool seems severly underdeveloped for an organization like Adobe.
    1.  When create an instance of the Sound Tool, I am unable to reposition it to the exact location I desire.
    2.  When I select 'No Border' in the properties window, save the document and reload, nothing happens.
Am I doing something wrong or are there workarounds?

Did you perhaps mean to post in the Acrobat forum?

    same as unanswered similar discussion
How can I use Adobe "mobile link" from within Acrobat X Pro?
but for eventually linking the files from browser
Is this feature only avaiable on Reader?
Is it on Acrobat XI Pro?
Can one set the file synchronization on mobile equipment only when on WIFI?

After beating the bushes it appears the Mobile Link is exclusive to the "XI" product family.

  • 'Keep tool selected' in Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.10

Why can't I find 'Keep tool selected' for any of my markup tools in Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.10? I want to only once select the 'Draw arrow' tool for example and then draw as many arrows as possible. I DO NOT want to have to go back and select the arrow tool after each and every arrow I draw ... amazing.!!! I saw that in previous versions they had this toggle 'Keep tool selected' but now I cannot find in anywhere in acrobat xi pro 11.0.10, which to my knowledge is the latest.
Can anyone tell me where to find this or if not that then is there a workaround? Cos at the moment there's just say extra mileage on my cursor.

Thanks for the reply, but it doesn't work for me. When I tick "Restore last view settings when reopening documents" and then close the document, then when I reopen it afterwards it only opens at the same page at which I closed it, but the Comments panel remains closed, so I need to reopen it again. That is what I was asking. Is there a way to have to Comments panel expanded every single time I open a PDF. "Restore last view settings when reopening documents" does not do that, at least as far as I see.

  • Making 'attach to email' button as a hyperlink has disappeared in acrobat X pro

    hi
I have upgraded to Acobat X pro from Acrobat 8 (CS3). I make brochures in indesign and then add some buttons in acrobat that can't be done in indesign. One button I nake is a 'attach to email' button. I can no longer see this option in create a link/custom link/actions/add
can someone please advise how I can still do this as my client still wants this button on the back page of all their brochures so they customers can easily pass the brochure onto someone else

no, this is not what I need
Your screen dumps are to show where you can attach a pdf to an email from the file menu in a pdf. This is not what I want
I use the draw a button using the 'link' tool in acrobat
this tool opens a dialogue box called create a link and I choose
custom link which opens another dialogue box and I choose
the action tab, selct an action 'add' and choose from the options here except pro x has had the 'attach to email' action removed
I need to get this in order to make a button on the pdf that a customer can click and then send the pdf to an email address that they enter

  • Set Acrobat 9 pro colors

Is there a way to create default group properties for markup tools in Acrobat 9 pro for teams, e.g., Editorial RED, Copy GREEN, Account ORANGE, etc.? So we don't have to set up each tool for each department.

Only if the users are using Acrobat, not Reader. Then you could extract the pages with a script and present them in a new (temporary) file.
If they use Reader your only option is to create the set of pages in advance and then open them when the link is clicked, but that would take more space, like you mentioned.

  • How can we remove a specific hyperlink using Acrobat X Pro ?

How can we remove a specific hyperlink using Acrobat X Pro ?

If the link is a real annotation in the file, just switch to the link tool in Acrobat, select it and press Delete.
The Acrobat Family will, by default, scan all the text in a PDF file and temporarily make any URL or email address into a hotlink. You cannot stop that from happening as it's a preference on the client side; the only solution would be to break the pattern by adding a hairline space next to the colon or the @ symbol.
