Link View in RH7

I recently upgraded from RH5 to RH7 fairly painlessly, but
one issue I have is the Link view. I am not a seasoned user, but I
know the product well enough to create what I need for my projects.
Perhaps I am missing something. It was so simple in RH5, but there
seems to be no way to add the Link view to my toolbar, and after
I've opened several topics, the Link view is only accessible after
clicking back a number of times on the tabs above or going into the
Pod and clicking Link view. Does anyone have a solution to this
dilemma?

Welcome to the forum.
Right click the menus and select Customise.
Under Commands you will find Tools. There you can add Show
Links to your toolbar.
Otherwise just right click any topic.

Topics missing from link view and topic references

I am using RoboHelp X5 and have come across situations where
I have a URL, and all of the topics that link to it do not display
in link view, in the Show Topics References option, or in the
External Topics report. I want to know if there is an easy way to
correct this so I can see every topic that links to a particular
URL.
For example, I have a link to www.adobe.com that is
referenced in the TOC and 5 different RoboHelp topics. After I
initially set up all the links, all 5 topics show in link view from
www.adobe.com. In topic references, the TOC also appears. Then a
few days or weeks later, I try to view the links again, and some or
all of them no longer appear. If I display the link in link view or
right click and select Topic References, it may only show me the
reference to the TOC. If I remove it from the TOC, it no longer
appears as a URL at all. But it is still actually used in 5 topics.
Also, if I know it is linked from topic A, I could go in and edit
topic A and save. Then www.adobe.com will show up as a link in the
URL list again, and topic A will appear again in link
view/references. But I don't necessary know all of the topics that
link to it, and if I am trying to remove it from the entire
project, or change the URL, that becomes a problem.
I hope this makes sense and if anyone can help, I would
appreciate it!

Repair the broken links, create a zipped backup of the project, then delete the CPD file before reopening.

NOTHING or wrong info in LINK VIEW

I am using RH HTML x4.1.
I have taken a project over from a previous writer (no longer
with the company). I have found MANY "orphaned" topics with no real
links to anything else. In addition, I am changing many of the
topic names, etc. I am trying to verify any links that belong to
existing topics, but when i click the Link View tab, a VERY
generalized link shows... and doesn't include the actual links that
exist in the topic.
Even in NEW topics or new links i've created, this is the
condition... NOTHING is showing in the Link View (e.g., it shows
the default main topic that appears when the project is compiled
with a generic topic linked to it... but NOTHING that represents
the actual links or topics i'm using. I have hundreds of links
established between and among the various topics.
Can you please tell me why this might be happening and if it
can or cannot be fixed?

Hi Kelley
Yes, Link View is a strange beast. One would expect to click
the tab and immediately see links to/from the topic currently in
the WYSIWYG editor. Unfortunately, it wasn't designed that way.
One way to use it is to display the view, then one-by-one
drag topics from the Explorer or Project view into the Link View
pane and drop them.

Guy's older albums have been on other countries' Itunes in the past. I don't know why they come and go. Guy keeps promising to spend more time overseas, releasing and promoting his music. I'm sure they'll all become available again then. You could import CDs, of course, but that becomes expensive. Online, Sanity and JBHiFi in Australia will mail overseas.

Emply Link View after project upgrade to RoboHelp7

I have used RoboHelp X5 for years and we just upgraded to
RoboHelp 7. We have put our project in RoboSource Control 3 to
share it among muliple users. Since that time I have discovered
that our Link View is now empty. It was populated prior to our
upgrade,and now only one icon (The topic icon) is displayed with
none of the previously set links displayed. I am sure hoping I do
NOT have to recreate the links in RoboHelp7 that were previously
created in X5. Any insights would surely be appreciated.

cat jump on the keyboard?
I think you are seeing a slight change in behavior. In
version X5 and prior, Link View would automatically be displaying
an arbitrary topic page. I'm not sure I ever did manage to sort how
it determined which topic to show. Then version 6 changed the
playing field for the better, by automatically displaying the topic
currently open in the WYSIWYG editor. But RoboHelp 7 dramatically
changes the field a bit by offering the ability to edit multiple
topics at the same time. So I believe the Link View behavior was
changed. If you open it generically, it doesn't display a topic.
But if you click and drag topics into it, (Or right-click them and
choose the Link View) their links should display in this view.

Are you using more than one server for load balancing? If yes try checking the following:
I've seen where one server is working and one is not.
To check which one is working go to the connection manager and add a new connection manager that points directly to the one server:
Somthing like this (hscuschlws00099 is the name of the server in this example)
http://hscuschlws00099/hfmofficeprovider/hfmofficeprovider.aspx
Then try using Smartview on each connection to each server. If one works and the other doesn't you can narrow it down to the one server.

Link view to z-table

Hi,
the maintenance view V_QPGR_KAT is used in customising. We would like to add some fields to this view so I have been asked is the following possible....
Create a new z-view which links V_QPGR_KAT and the new z-table. I can't see how to do this without creating a new view which would be a copy of V_QPGR_KAT with the new z-table added to it.
Is there another way?

Is it possible to have foreign keys on views so that they can be linked to real tables or views? We are building an application with multiple schema and would like to have some common tables built as views in other schema and then linked to tables. I am making use of Oracle 10g on Windows Server 2005

Thanks for your prompt reply. Please, if I got the content there, my view can only be referenced in another table using the primary key inherited with the base table but can't never be a child table. I will go accordingly: the problem is to have some schema tables referenced under other schema and I thought that having relationships between tables and views could make this possible. Am I right with the synthesis obtained from what Saubhik showed me?

GRC CUP how can i remove auto link "view" display from email configuration

I have a similar query on this. We have a clustered environment for our production GRC CUP system. Access to the CUP system is via a load balanced Webdispatcher.
My question is, when a notification e-mail is sent out from CUP, the "View" link is showing a direct link to one of our clustered server instead of the Webdispatcher link. How can we customize the "View" link?
We need to ensure the approvers are able to access the link via the webdispatcher so that when a failover in the cluster occurs, they are not affected.

Sharing link; viewing responses online

Is it possible to create a form in Acrobat Pro and distribute it through Acrobat.com and view the responses online?
I want to create a referral form for a medical office. I want the doctor's office to use a link at Acrobat.com to download the form and then submit the form.
The medical office personnel need to be able to access the responses, but they do not have access to Adobe Acrobat Pro or the "response" file created with the distribution.

UIX: How to add linked view table columns to the Read-only table

I have two tables
T1: ID, STAFF_ID, NOTE
T2: STAFF_ID, USERNAME
I have created corresponding entity objects (E1, E2), views (V1, V2), association A(E1->E2 as *..1 using STAFF_ID) and viewlink VL(V1->V2 as *..1 using association A).
My model in AppModule looks like
V1
----V2 via VL
Now I have single UIX page in which I drop V1 as Read-only table. The table displays columns correctly: ID, STAFF_ID, NOTE
What I want is to add a column STAFF_ID from the V2 into this table. I have tried to drop it into the table but when the page is run it does not display anything in that column. It has to do something with binding.
I have done similar test with dropping V1 as read-only FORM and then added STAFF_ID from V2 as messageTextInput and everything is rendered correctly.
Anyone knows how to do the same thing but with table?

Yes that is true but I would like to give another example where this may not apply.
Say I have 3 tables
CLIENT(INDIVIDUAL_ID,...)
ADDRESS(ADDRESS_ID,...)
ADDRESS_HISTORY(ADDRESS_ID, INDIVIDUAL_ID,BEST_ADDRESS)
where ADDRESS_HISTORY is intersection table in CLIENT to ADDRESS many to many relationship.
Suppose I have VO2 that consists of ADDRESS and ADDRESS_HISTORY entities (corresponding association exists) and user needs to add new address for the selected customer in VO1 (made from CLIENT entity). There are several issues here:
1) An input form made out of VO2 must contain an entry for BEST_ADDRESS flag but since it will be read-only, seems that this approach may not work. However, I found a post re:Updating view objects with multiple entities that provides workaround this.
2) In that case assume that I use DBSequence to automatically add ADDRESS_ID when user inputs new record in this input form. I am using DB Trigger on ADDRESS table and have selected ADDRESS_ID in ADDRESS entity as DBSequence. Now observe that VO2 would contain another ADDRESS_ID from ADDRESS_HISTORY entity which has to be automatically populated with the same value. How?
In a nutshell my question relates to the problem how to automatically populate intersection table when new record is added to the detail. But the trick is that some attributes of the intersection table must be inserted by the user in the form..

IPhoto library link/ viewing problem

all of a sudden, some of our photos seemed streched in the thumbnails. when we click on these photos to edit, iPhoto actually brings up a different picture (as if the thumbnail was not linked to the same photo). Also, all of our albums are wrong. when we look in an album the wrong pictures are there - once again the link thing. has anybody else reported this? what can we do?

that is certainly strange. Let's see if a rebuild of your library will help:
Try this:
Before doing a rebuild make sure iPhoto's trash bin is emptied. You can do this by control clicking on the trash bin, or from the menu bar under iPhoto.
Close iPhoto
Duplicate the iPhoto Library folder
Drag the duplicate to the desktop (hopefully you have enough room on your hard drive for the duplicate.)
Launch iPhoto holding down the Command and Option keys until you see the rebuild options screen.
Choose the first three options. If you were missing photos in your library, also choose the last option. Be advised that you will get a roll of orphaned photos and it might be quite huge. Most of them will already be in your iPhoto library, but use caution when deleting anything from this roll until you are sure the photos are still in your library in another place. It might be a good idea to share/export this roll of photos just in case you need to import them again.
Back to the rebuild, depending on the size of your library it might take some time. When it is done, hopefully your photos will be there.
You might see some unexpected results as I did when I did a rebuild. Photos had been moved to wrong dates, video clips had lost their duration info and some were even orphaned from the jpg pointer file. It took me some time to straighten it out again.
This is the reason to make a duplicate before you rebuild, in case you do not like the result. If you don't like the result, close iPhoto, then delete the rebuilt library and drag the duplicate back into the Pictures folder making sure the name is iPhoto Library. Launch iPhoto and it should open the library in the Pictures folder.

View for a network node or link table

Can a view be used for a nework node or link table? The process sdo_net.validate_network hangs when I try to validate a network based on views for the node and link tables.

I am using a logical model. The sql statement (checking link/node relationship) that hangs is:

I gather there is a concurrency issue with my links view because it joins a table with itself. I have a link table that has the start and end nodes defined on two records. Here is my view script:

I can create tables from my views and validate them successfully through sdo_net.validate_nodes_schema, sdo_net.validate_links_schema, and sdo_net.validate_network.
I can analyze the network model through the Java API using the reachable nodes, shortest path, and spanning tree methods without any problems.
I guess I'll validate my view links by counting the total number of links and subtracting the number of links joined successfully at the start and end nodes - if 0 then all links are valid. E.g.:
select count(link_id) from
select link_id from vlinks
minus
select a.link_id from vlinks a, vnodes b, vnodes c
where a.start_node_id = b.node_id
and a.end_node_id = c.node_id

"View JNDI tree" link not visible under monitoring tab of myserver?

The link "View JNDI tree" as mentioned in chapter 18 of administration guide is
not visibile on my installation of 6.1 beta.
Is there some configuration setting that i need to do to make this link visible.
I am having problems with installation and running of my resource adapter. I wanted
to check whether the JNDI name is registered properly and there i ran into this
problem of no link available.

They moved this into a popup menu that you get to using a right click
in the tree view in the left frame. There are lots and lots of new
admin goodies available by right clicking on nodes of the tree. It
took me a while to discover this myself. :)
