Linked image scale percentage

Why is the linked image scale percentage being rounded off in Illustrator CC?

Looks like a bug in AICC. You may please log it here: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform so that Adobe Engineers can take a look at it.

  • How to scale linked images back to 1:1 {normal proportions}?

    Hi there,
    I am workind on document, containing 470 linked images. I accidentaly did some operation with frame fitting probably, so all my images got non-proportional scaling now. Amount of Undos was not long enough...
    Do you have some clever recipe how to scale them back to normal aspect ratio?

    Well,
    thank you for your reply, but I do not uderstand your advice clearly: If the chain link is not broken, I just resize the frame containing photo and keep that bad proportions which I want to get rid of.
    OK, I can just click the Content Grabber circle button and resize the image manualy to be about fine. But in case of 470 links I hoped in some one-click-magic... {"Equalize the proportions of linked images" button to be exact }
    Thank you...

  • I have linked images that I want to resize horz & vert to (96.6% x 97.8%)

    I have linked images that I want to resize horz & vert to (96.6% x 97.8%) and then center within the frame.
    I'd like to have an applescript to do them all, so I don't have to manually do them each, each time.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

  • DPI of a linked image, illustrator - extendscript

    Hi,
    I am creating a script that needs to be able to find the DPI of a linked image. I presume there must be some way of getting to this data as it is in the links window in illustrator.
    I do also need to get other information in that window (colour space & scale), but the DPI is the one im struggling with at the moment.
    Mac 10.9, illustrator CS6, extendscript
    Has anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks in advance,
    Tom

    Thanks for the assistance, both of you.
    After looking at the XMP i have discovered that only Tiff files have the relevent data that i need and as there will be multiple file formats that the script will need to read this is not an option.
    I have used the bridge talk script from the other post that you linked and adapted it to search through all files in the document and quit photoshop when finished.
    One last question, is there anyway to find out if photoshop is already running? i dont want it to close the application if the user already had it open before running.

  • Removal of Colour Scale & Percentage of View from The Label to Print

    I am having a dilemma with Photoshop CS4!!
    I can't figure out how to get rid of the Colour Scale & Percentage
    at which I'm viewing the photograph.
    It sits at the top of the window which contains the image I have
    open, and contains the File Name, Colour Scale & Percentage of View.
    Though, it would say a percentage & RGB for example at the end of the file name when I print it.
    I need to reproduce these images for photo albums, not only for the
    museum I work at but externally as well.
    I have been trying to figure this out even on the Photoshop Website for help, however to no avail.
    Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
    Kind regards
    Alison

    Well, first off someone might yet be forthcoming with a direct solution for Your problem.
    But if none should turn up: One can control Photoshop on Mac via AppleScript or JavaScript, basically like Actions with a bit extra – in this case the inclusion of document-specific data like the name etc.
    Should You decide to pursue this option »Adobe Intro To Scripting.pdf«, »Photoshop CS4 Scripting Guide.pdf« and the Sample Scripts (should all have been installed with Photoshop) offer a good starting point and one can always ask for advice on the Photoshop Scripting Forum –maybe someone already has a Script for this task.

  • Placed image scale anomaly

    A funny thing happened on my way to the theatre ...
    Some days ago I placed an image into an Illie file, linked, 100% scale.
    This morning I needed to edit the linked file in Photoshop. This involved cropping a bit off the bottom of it, thereby changing its dimensions.
    Just to check that everything was still o.k. at the Illie end (because I somehow suspected that it might not be), I opened the Illie file.
    Lo and behold, everything was not o.k. The placed image had scaled itself up by some few % becoming too wide.
    Rather than fiddle around with scaling, I placed the image again and it came in in the right size.
    I notice that exactly the same thing happens when I have Illie open while I am editing the image. The placed image hops visibly when Illie reads the new size.
    Can anyone tell me why this is and how does Illie recognise the size of placed images?
    Does she calculate the area or what is it that happens?
    Here's an example that I tried afterwards, not having kept the original measurements:
    Original image file 63.218 x 47.414 mm (placed in Illie at 100% scale)
    Cropped in PS to 63.218 x 44.027 mm
    Changes in Illie to 64.846 x 45.161 mm (scale 102.576%)
    I can't make sense of the figures. Is anyone out there better at maths than I am? (Sure there must be!)

    When you update a link, then image is scaled to fit the original bounding box size because of the default in the links palette >> placement options >> transforms
    Links palette >> placement options>> dimensions should help. What I do not like most of these options later have blank sapce around the image, and it is hard to use the transform palette or snapping to for example snap to the edge of a die or guide.
    I replace the image after the canvas size changes in photoshop, cause placement options though it has been around forever is not really that useful. Maybe  someone else out there agrees/disagrees or has a different way to deal with this updating of resized images in Illustrator

  • Problem with linking images in form

    Dear Personnel,
         I am using live cycle designer 9.0.Using this i created forms. And i want to load images dynamically to an image field or to an image object.As per the Adobe team,using the href link- i can pass the url of the image.I have supplied that.But the thing is that when i save the form, size of the form takes the size of the images too ,eventhough i didnt embed the image to the form.
    I have tried javascript to link to image in the form:ready event but that too doesn't work for me.The main thing i need is to reduce the size of the pdf.So i just want to link images to the form whenever it is opened only.
    I have asked many times and no one replies............please try to solve this................

    Thanks for the information!  I think that maybe it is the 2 color transparency issue that I am having.  Some of my images have 2+ colors in them in addition to a transparent background.
    This is kind of a silly limitation for LiveCycle honestly, because many people use PNG files with more than one color!
    I will try to scale down the amount of colors or use JPEGs instead - thanks!
    Best Regards,
    Ashley

  • Best file format for linked images in AI

    Goal:  To keep Illustrator "running" as smoothly as possible with a few hundred linked images?
    Question: What file format to use for the linked images ???
    I have a few hundred grayscale and CMYK scans that are placed in AI. for a very large museum mural. The scans only have a single layer. They are currently jpegs but Illustrator in coming to a crawl and randomly crashing.
    In my everyday work flow I usually link to PSDs
    Just wondering what the absolutle best file format is to squeeze every bit of performace out of illustrator with so many linked images.
    Thanks in advance,
    Dan

    Jpegs are compessed in such a way thata a jpeg of a smaller takes a little longer size to open.
    You are probably experiencing this on alrge scale so it is more noticeable and making it take longer to link up.
    I would use tiffs anyway.

  • Resizing linked images in Illustrator results in choppy looking images

    I have been using illustrator and CS software for many years now, and I have one major problem with the CS5 version of illustrator:
    I cannot resize any linked images without compermising the images quality. I am a professional and have a deep understanding of illy but cannot figure this out!
    Details:
    -I am not trying to size UP. I'm Talking about taking an image and shrinking with the transform tool.
    -The image also looks choppy when I rotate the image.
    -This resizing issue doesn't have anything to do with how it renders in illustor. If I export a tiff file I get the same problem.
    -I am not talking about dramatic resizing, just within 50% or even less of the original size
    My workaround has been to export a tiff at 300dpi and then editing the tiff in photoshop by placing the linked image on a second layer and positioning it to cover up the "choppy" image. This is obvisouly a terrible work flow but it has worked so far.
    Another workaround would be to resize the image in photoshop first and then place it in illustrator at 100% the size so I don't need to resize anymore.
    Can anyone help me? thank you so much!!!!

    By resizing a placed image in Illie you are only changing the size, not the content of the image. So if you have an image that is 300 ppi in original size and scale it by 50% in Illie you end up with 600 ppi. What it looks like on screen is not the point, it's the content that matters. You can physically reduce the size of an image in Photoshop. You can also control the final ppi of images for output by the compression method you select when exporting to Acrobat.

  • How do you link images that have no link to begin with?

    Im working with a file created by someone else.  I have seen this before but there are no links in the links window for a lot of the images that I click.  I have found this can happen when doing a copy/paste of an image from a website, photoshop, etc...  Is there a way to give these images an actual link so I dont have to go through and drop in the actual image and resize it all from scratch to make it fit with the non-linked image?

    It's not quite that bad... you can script this. For instance, this oneline script:
    app.selection[0].graphics[0].place(File.openDialog())
    operates on a selected image (such as one copy-and-pasted, though it would also work with a properly placed image) and opens a file dialog and lets you select a new image which is then placed in it, preserving the scale. Can't do anything about the crop though.
    Does that help? Do you need more automation? Or explanation how to use it?

  • Can't change a linked image???

    I have a lot left to learn in Dreamweaver but linking images I've done alot, I hope someone can help me on what I'm doing wrong.  The linked image won't let me change links.  Here is the home page http://kmmcement.com/.  The bottom right picture under click to view slideshow is linked to slideshow.html.  I changed the slideshow and named the new one ss.html.  When I right click the picture and choose Change Link and select my new ss.html, it does not change it in the code.  I tried manually to change it in the code and publish, but the new page won't load up (although when I preview the page, it loads fine.)
    The only thing I've done differently on this site is that I finally learned to get the bottom navigation links to work without looking jumpy and jittery when clicking or rolling over them, by going to Modify - Page Properties and choosing links and set them up there (basic that I should've learned awhile ago).  I didn't do the navigation bar until last, so would that have anything to do with not being able to change the link?  If so, then how can I change it to where only the bottom navigation has it's own style as I'm sure there's going to be alot more links I'm going to be adding.
    Thank you in advance for any help. (By the way, I'm using Dreamweaver CS3)

    Starting on line 215 of your code, you have this:
    <tr>
    <td height="338"><div align="center">
    <p class="style11">CLICK TO VIEW SLIDESHOW!</p>
    <p><a href="slideshow.html"><img
    src="images/slideshowpic.JPG" width="347" height="223"
    border="0"/></a></p>
    </div>
    </td>
    </tr>
    Try changing it to this:
    <tr>
    <td height="338" style="text-align:center">
    <p class="style11"><a href="ss.html">CLICK TO VIEW SLIDESHOW!</a></p>
    <p><a href="ss.html"><img src="images/slideshowpic.JPG" width="347" height="223" border="0"/></a></p>
    </td>
    </tr>
    Save.  Upload page to server along with ss.html page.  Hit refresh in your browser.

  • Linked image question

    I create a monthly newsletter using InDesign CS3 (5.0.4) on a Dell Inspiron 6000 with a 1.5 GHz Pentium M processor, 2 GB of RAM and Win XP/SP3.
    I collect information from various sources, some of which are Micorsoft Word documents with graphics, and I rarely have access to the separate graphic files.  I have MS Word 2002 SP3.
    I can Copy the graphics from Word into InDesign (when I right click on these images in Word, I do not have the Save Image As option).  However, when I do so, the image is not linked, it is embedded, whatever the size of the image (and despite the Help file statement regarding images under/over 48 kB).
    The problem I encounter is when I try to export (Cross Media Export/XHTML Dreamweaver) a specific newsletter article (Export/Selection), including those embedded graphics (I also create an web version of the newsletter), I receive a message that "...only linked images are exported."  I want to export the article including the graphics.
    After searching through the InDesign Help file, I found info that says to choose Window/Automation/Data Merge/Content Placement Options/Link Images to link and not embed images.  This I have done.
    After searching this forum, I found a posting that says Copy/Paste does not preserve links(from any application except another ID file).
    In the ID Help file is a statement that the Links panel can be used to change the status (linked or embedded) of a graphic.  However, when I open the Links panel after pasting an image into a frame, the only choices are Copy Links and Sort.  I concluded that the limited choices are a result of the lack of a separate graphics file.  Correct?
    I can Paste the image into InDesign, Export it as a JPG (to create a separate graphics file), delete the Pasted image from the ID file, and then Place the JPG file into the ID file.  That creates a linked image, which is included with the selected exported newsletter article.
    Is there a better (simpler) way to accomplish this task?

    There are a number of ways to get graphics out of Word/Powerpoint/Excel, but copy/paste into Indesign is the worst, mainly because you get only screen resolution.
    1) Place the Word file. You'll get embedded graphics again (most of them at least), but there's nothing to stop you from unembedding them (through the Links panel), and you'll get full resolution images, not screen previews.
    2) Print the Word file to PDF and then Place pages of the PDF.
    3) Save the Word file to a web page (as mentioned by Jay and Jeffrey in this thread).
    4) Open the Word file in OpenOffice, save in OO's native format, change the extension to .zip, and unzip the file (where you'll find your graphics in separate files).
    5) My personal favorite: Copy out of Word and paste into Illustrator or Photoshop. Michael mentioned Photoshop too, but it's important to use the right program depending on the content. If you have a bitmap (a photo, scan, or screen capture), paste it into Photoshop. If you have a vector graphic (a drawing consisting of lines and shapes, like a graph) or a combination of vector and bitmap, paste it into Illustrator. The reason this is my favorite is because it gives me a chance to fix the graphic. If nothing else, everything from Word comes in as RGB, but I also usually need to change the typeface and size the graphic appropriately.

  • CS3 - Design View not showing externally linked images

    In CS3 Design View, externally linked images are not showing
    up... i am only getting the place holder.
    To prempt some questions:
    1/ Links are correct and complete - apart from the fact that
    they show up when previewing in the browser(s) - i have
    crosschecked
    2/ There are no spaces in the url
    3/ In the 'View' menu, 'Display External Files' is checked
    I had this problem before and escargo suggested saving and
    rebooting. It worked then but strangely, today, that file is again
    showing some of the externally linked images but not all. And on a
    new file, created today, none of the externally linked images are
    showing up... :(
    I'm sure there's a simple solution to the problem... anyone
    have any idea what it could be?
    Thanks and cheers,

  • Outlook not seeing link images

    Hello All and Happy Friday (the 13th buwahaha)
    OK, issue
    Outlook 2010 and 2013 (Exchange Accounts)
    Users get emails html formatted.  Outlook displays the red x with the message "The linked image cannot be displayed.  The file may have been moved, renamed, or deleted. etc..."
    However, OWA displays it properly, so do the phones.
    This leads me to believe it is proxy related.  Now my problem comes in with the knowledge that we are using a Cisco IronPort as our proxy, we don't even configure the browsers for it...  Just catches it.
    I've tried every fix I can find and none have resolved the issue.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I actually found a kb about this issue:
    Images in email message disply a "red x" instead of the image if the Cache value in the registry is incorrectly configured
    This problem occurs if there is incorrect registry data for the Cache
    value under the following registry key.
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
    Important
    Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it,
    back up the registry for restoration in
    case problems occur.
    To resolve this problem, use the following steps to manually edit the data for the Cache value in the registry.
    Exit Outlook if it is running.
    Start Registry Editor.
    Windows 8
    On the Desktop, press the Windows key + X and click
    Run . Type regedit in the Open box, and then press ENTER
    Windows 7 or Windows Vista
    Click Start , type regedit in the Start Search
    box, and then press ENTER.
    If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password, or click
    Allow
    Windows XP
    Click Start , click Run , type regedit
    , and then click OK.
    Locate and then select the following key in the registry.
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
    Update the Cache value to the default value according to your version of Windows.
    Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista
    Name: Cache

    Windows XP
    Name: Cache
    Type: REG_EXPAND_SZ
    Data: %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files
    Close Registry Editor.
