Linking a pdf in dreamweaver
I am learning dreamweaver and I have read and watched many videos on linking a pdf in my web page yet I am still having trouble. I have the file in my webpage folder, called 10brochure.pdf when I view it in sarafi before I upload it, it shows the file is there and opens. Yet when I publish it to the web it says NOT FOUND, The request URL/10brochure.pdf was not found on this server. Please check out www.mmo-stanstevens.com/pages/trophy_gallery.html to see where I am having trouble with 2010 and 2009 pdf, 2 years ago someone else added 06-08
Thank you
Your pathway to the file seems to be off after looking at your code.2008 and 2007 have "
../pdf/2008_report.pdf" you need the same for 2009 and 2010. Is has a path of
"../09brochure.pdf". Make sure the 09 and 10 pdf's are in your pdf folder in your root and correct the path in your dreamweaver doc with /pdf/10brochure.pdf. Hope that helps

Im trying to link a .pdf to my Dreamweaver document so that readers can view online. I added the .pdf as an asset in Dreamweaver and linked it just as I would any other link. However when I view it I get this message:
"The Adobe Acrobat/Reader that is running can not be used to view PDF files in a Web Browser. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and exit your web browser and try again."
I do not have Acrobat or Reader open! Does anyone know what is going on? Or even better, can someone explain how I can publish a .pdf on my website so that when the page is visited it automatically appears without having to click on another link.
Thanks for the help.A good question.
Asking at the Dreamweaver forum may elicit a more useful set of replies.

I'm wanting to link a .pdf into a Dreamweaver web page so that readers can view it online.
Does anyone know how I can do this or if it's possible? Ideally, I would really like to publish a .pdf on my website so that when the page is visited it automatically appears without having to click on another link. I have searched everywhere I can think of in numerous ways and keep coming up empty!
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me!You really have no control over how people view their PDFs locally.
It's dependent on local user settings. You hardly ever see embedded PDFs on web pages because there's no guarantee that they'll work as you intend.
This is currently done in Publisher and then converted to a PDF. They don't want to have to teach their members about downloading plug-ins.
If you know of another program they can use to develope a newsletter that can be printed, put in an e-mail, and published on a web site that doesn't require conversion to PDF -- I and they would love the answer to that as well!
Most people already have a PDF viewer (such as Acrobat Reader) installed so a link to a PDF is usually all that is required.
It's the lowest maintenance, and most widely used, option without requiring lots of instructions.
If you want to research alternative approaches, which version of Publisher is being used?
You can export Publisher documents as self-contained websites which can then be uploaded.
However I suspect most people would prefer reading a PDF which looks familiar and they can print. -

But you'll have two choices. You can simply link to the PDF and for many, it will open in their browser. For some, it will prompt to download the file so they can open in Reader or Acrobat (or whatever they use to view PDF's).
You can also "embed" the PDF in the page so it shows on a page. The only time you want to do this is when you have other elements on the page that you want them to see at the same time.
Again, you'll want to ask any further questions in the Dreamweaver forum.

How to validate all hyperlinks, including links in pdf files?
Dreamweaver's link checker only checks links in html files. Is there's a Dreamweaver plug in I could use to check links (all kinds of links) in pdf files on my site? I haven't been able to find one and would appreciate suggestions. Thanks.
Not a DW extension but look at Xenu's Link Sleuth.

Cannot open any links to PDF files?!
I'm using a power mac, running on os x version 10.4.11.
Everytime I come across a link to a pdf in my browser - a new page opens but is blank?
Sometimes another window opens, showing my applications - so I click on Adobe Acrobat, but this does not open the pdf either! Its infuriating as so many pages now have links to pdf.
I've had issues with safari before, and would usually use Firefox to overcome these, but now its problematic too!On 13 Nov 2006 in macromedia.dreamweaver.appdev, AGMancuso

No. You're in here because you're either a web developer or
you want to
be one. Somewhere, somehow, you have web space. Post to that
and post
the address.

How to create link for pdf file in discoverer worksheet
Hi All,
I would like to create a link for pdf file into discoverer report (worksheet).
So that i can open linked pdf file using worksheet link.
Can any one tell me about this?
Thanks
RaviHi,
I think the best way to do this is to use a database directory so that you can access your pdf file as a bfile. Then create a mod_plsql procedure that sets the mime type and downloads the pdf file. You then create a calculation in the EUL then returns the URL to your mod_plsql procedure. You can then include this calculation as a hyperlink in your worksheet.
It is not as difficult as it sounds. Please let me know if you need anymore details.

Linking a PDF document to URL in Smart forms
Hi All,
Please anyone let me know how i can link a PDF document to a link in the smart form output.
I'm outputting Purchase order details on a smartform and I'm supposed to give an URL link for the user to click on it for Terms and Conditions.
Please note that I'm not using interactive forms in web dynpros nor developing with BSP.
I simply developed a smart form in SRM system and I'm able to display an URL but don't know how to link a PDF to that link.
Please some one let me know your ideas how i can attach a PDF to an URL in smart form.
Thanks in Advance,
SowjanyaHi,
Follow the below blog and it is very useful achiving your requirement.
in the blog:
in the below point,
Code to send the email
Following code will transform the html content into displayable format and send email to all the recipients. Note: This form also handles the images (static) defined in the smartform, as well as the images defined with html IMG tag (eg: URL link to image on the network).
you have to convert your pDF output into displayable format. then add that link to your smartform.
Thanks,
Sree.
