Linking actions Encore CS5

I am going around in circles here trying to figure out if the following 1) and 2) below is possible.
I have and INTRO which follows a MENU that gives the the option two select VIDEO in one of TWO LANGUAGES.
When the VIDEO ends (regardless of the language)  it returns to the MENU to select the other language
So far I have done that but what I want to also happen is...
1)  When pressing the Menu button in the remote I want it to start playing from the INTRO (not the MENU).
2)  When one is half way thru watching the video is there a button one can set up to take the viewer back to the MENU?
(I do have chapters to navigate forward and backward in the video but thought maybe this is possible.  If not I just forget it.)
Enclosed is my flowchart.
Also, could you tell me why some of the boxes in the flowchart are grayed out.
Thanks.

could you tell me why some of the boxes in the flowchart are grayed out.
You have the end action of a menu set to itself. Normally,  you leave a menu end action set to "stop." The exception is when you want to let the menu end after an amount of time or motion menu loops and then go on to another menu or movie.
1)  When pressing the Menu button in the remote I want it to start playing from the INTRO (not the MENU).
Select the timeline you will be in (or all of them). Set the menu remote to the intro movie.
2)  When one is half way thru watching the video is there a button one can set up to take the viewer back to the MENU?
(I do have chapters to navigate forward and backward in the video but thought maybe this is possible.  If not I just forget it.)
Same answer here. You cannot set a button on a menu while a timeline is playing (in blueray this would be a popup). But you can set the menu remote.

    Hello,
What is the easiest way to create motion Menus in Encore CS5?  I'm creating a motion menu in after effects CS5 and will import as a menu in Encore, but I want to keep the animation, while the buttons will navigate you to the appropriate timelines.  I want to keep the animation going throughout the duration of the menu?
    Thanks,

The first link is Encore CS5 help. It is a good beginning.  I'm not sure if the tutorial it links to is the same as my second link.  The AE help link below is also useful.
CS5 allows creation of buttons in AE, but for plain navigation options, I think it is just as easy to add in Encore or Photoshop.

  • Encore CS5 freezes opening project

I am running Production Premium CS4 and CS5 on Vista Business 32-bit.
I can't use the Dynamic Link in Encore CS5 as I don't have After Effect CS5 or Premiere Pro CS5 installed so I've created a new project in Encore CS4, imported footage from an After Effects project and saved the project. I then try to open the project in Encore CS5 and it freezes at 13% of the 'opening project' popup box every time.
Can anyone suggest how I might resolve this problem? Thanks.

Just did a search for this problem as my progam also started to hang all of a sudden - at 13% while opening.
I figured it might have been something to do with my clearing out the massive Adobe cache last night. (Useful to do if you suddenly find that you're missing hard drive space and it's not the shadow files. Look in hidden file AppData Adobe Common....)
Anyway, after reading this post, I opened the Premiere Pro file that was used to create the film file originally (even though I never exported this file directly to Encore. I used Media Encoder first.)
As soon as the file loaded in Premiere, the Encore problem resolved. (I had tried it several times before with no luck.)
I didn't need to go back into the Cache folder or rename anything.

    Thanks!

  • Error message encore cs5 end action can't execute on the final chapter point

Dvd plays great. Exported it as a mpeg 2-dvd,  video only. Audio separate as a .wav. imported video as a timeline, audio as an asset. Video is not transcoded.
But I have a sub menu, with 6 chapter markers. I check the project and I get this: "error message encore cs5 end action can't execute on the final chapter point"
Do I need to make a chapter playlist? Because that gave me a "orphaned playlist" error message.
I selected the last chapter masker and had the end action go to the sub menu.
    Thanks!

Saw a previous thread where bill hunt said it ignore it and try to burn a copy.

  • Encore CS5 Set Stop action

I am authoring a DVD using Encore CS5 and several menus/submenus/timelines.  When a user plays the DVD through their TV and hits "Stop" (either once or twice - it doesn't matter) on their remote control in the middle of the timeline that is currently playing, is there a way to have the menu or submenu that they were just on automatically pop back up on the screen instead of the user having to hit "Top Menu" or "Menu" on their remote to access the menus again?
So for example, I start my DVD, my first play, which is my main menu pops up and I select the button that is linked to my timeline and my video starts playing.  Halfway through I decide to hit stop because I want to see what else is on the DVD.  When I hit stop, I want the main menu to automatically pop up so I can continue to navigate and see the other options.
Thank you for any help you can provide.

To the best of my knowledge, the way it works is part of the DVD spec.  You need to hit the Menu button, not the Play button.
Regarding your example, don't hot Stop to call up a menu.  Hit Menu.

Thanks again pointing out the  Adobe CC Cleaner URL
When I said CCleaner previously, I was refering to a program that clean out garbages from PC (broken links, shortcuts, temp files, etcetera..)
But late on, I have found out Adobe CC Cleaner (for Creative Cloud and CS5, CS6...) for cleaning Adobe craps after un-install.
I just wish the hotline could mention it and not having me to swim to find out that tool does exists saving some precious time.
Here is the status and what I have done to fix the problem:
...yeah, I was shooting in the dark...
    1. Uninstall completely Adobe Premiere Production CS5 (remove preferences)
    2. Run Adobe CCleaner (choose "all")
    3. Shutdown PC, reboot and Cleanup and Defragment C: drive
    4. Re-install completely Adobe Premiere Production CS5 (all products)
    5. Re-apply completely Adobe Premiere Production CS5 (all products)
(note: for some reason, I need to do it three times to get the complete updates done, just retry and no changes between retry)
    6. Result : PremierePro still working fine, still hangs on Encore
(Encore dialog screen was frozen as before from the begining and I had to use "Window-Task-Manager" to "end-the-task" of Encore)
7.Conclusion: the problem is on the PC not AdobePremiereProduction
    8. Decision: Restore previous checkpoint of Window-7 Professional components
    9. Redone steps 1,2,3,4,5
    10. The result is the same as mentioned in point 6 and the conclusion is the same as mentioned in point 7.
    11. Ultimate Decision: Ground-zero style resfresh (see the follwoing steps)
    12. Separate Data from Window-7 (Move out all data from PC and unplug all connected portable hard drives
    13. Factory restore of Window-7 Professional using DVD-rescue (hard drive C: wiped out and reformatted)
    14. Apply all Updates for Window-7 Professional (over 121 updates, over 700Mb and many shutdown-reboot)
    15. Reconfigure Wireless for connecting to Internet
    16. Re-Install McAfee Antivirus
    17. Re-Install some usefull Softwares (Microsoft Office 2010 Professional, etcetera... Shareport for wireless USB Printer)
    18. Lot of Canon and Sony Softwares not re-installed because not used and not needed for now
    19. Clean install AdobePremiereProduction CS5 (no need to run Adobe CCleaner)
    20. Apply all updates for AdobePremierProduction CS5 (result is intermittent and have to retry few times to get it completed)
    21. Apply one by one updates for every single Adobe product to get it done\
    22. Shutdown and cleanup C: drive and defragment C; drive
    22. From now on, I am sure to have a FRESH an CLEAN PC with  a CLEAN CS5
    23. RESULT: AdobePremierePro-CS5 still working perfectly AS BEFORE

  • Encore CS5 Menu Problems

Allow me to begin by saying thank you in advance for any and all help. Please know I am a marine biologist first and a video editor second so I'll apologize for my elementary questions.
2011 macbook pro, 8gb ram, all working files (connected assets) are on the hard drive, Panasonic BD burner connected firewire 800, Encore CS5
    This is a blu-ray project.
I have created a movie that has only 2 menus. The main menu and a chapter selction menu.
The menus have a video file playing in the background with text generated from the video editor appearing 10 seconds in. This menu is very basic...video background with 3 buttons overlayed on top placed where the text appears. Of these buttons, one plays the main movie, another plays a behind the scenes, and the last directs the user to the chapter selection menu.
The video files for the menu background were transcoded in Media Manager to Blu-ray h.264 and imported assets as .m4v video and .ac3 audio.
The actual movie files are also imported in this same manner and are working fine.
Preview works fine except where indicated below in the form of the background video being in poor quality.
    Problem:
When the disc is inserted into a blu-ray player, the main menu background video looks worse than standard def videos. At the loop point set for the buttons to "appear and activate" (10sec) the video freezes, screen turns black for just a split second (literally, split second) then re-appears normally with all buttons working fine, the video plays accordingly but is still in bad quality. The buttons work as supposed to and the movies they're connected to are brilliantly played in blu-ray quality without any problems.
On the chapter selection menu, the same applys to the background  video where it plays in poor quality but the problem here is again at the loop point but has a different action. At the time of the loop point (again 10sec) the video stops, then jumps back to the beginning of the Chapter menu and starts over again. It does this over and over, never allowing me to get to the buttons for chapter selection. It just loops back to the beginning of the same menu. The only way to stop this is to press the main menu button on the remote to get back to the main menu.
    So...2 things:
    1) howcome the background videos in the menus are in bad quality? Do know in the preview, the background videos are in the good quality sometimes. In other words, when I press the preview, sometimes the videos are shown in good quality, and sometimes they're not. I onced "fixed" it when it previewed in poor quality by disconnecting the wip to the asset, then reconnecting it. It played fine in the preview once but then the next time I previewed it, it was in poor quality.
    2) why are there 2 different glitches at the loop points on the menus. Both menus are identical in properties, not in asset connections. As a matter of fact, the chapter menu was created by copy/pasting the main menu, changing the assets, and using more buttons (these buttons were also copy/paste from the main menu buttons but have different links). Also know that in preview, the loop points work just fine and the buttons appear without a problem, but the video quality is diminished as with the main menu.
2 Burn processes tried and have identical problems:
I created discs using 2 methods and the problems are identical in both. I burned a blu-ray disc directly from Encore which exhibited these problems. I also made a folder and burned the BDMV file in Toast Titanium Pro 10 and also have these same identcal problems. I did make an .iso file also, but don't know how to test that on a blu-ray disc. I am using BD-RE discs so that I don't waste a lot of money.
Please help. I am in crunch time and have less than 2 weeks to complete this and get 100 discs burned.
Thank you again for reading this and for any and all help.
    Charlie

    Hi Charlie,
about loop point frezees (black video), no way out, sorry: this is an Encore CS5 bug and we all are waiting for the brand new CS5.5.
Jon Jeddes has tried to find a solution with other sws support but he met lot of difficulties.
About your low definition results, it could depend by many things.
Don't know Media Manager, but, usually, low definitions are related to low bitrates (check yours are at least 25 Mb per second).
    Hope this will help.
    Ciao

  • Encore CS5 fails/crashes/freezes...can anyone advise?

    Hi,
I am having problems with Adobe Encore CS5, Master Collection. I am having this with both my hi-end PC and laptop of the following spec:
    HP Z800 Workstation
Intel Xeon CPU X5650 @2.67 GHz (12 Core)
    6.00GB RAM
    Win 7 64-bit
    HP Elitebook 8740w
    Intel Core i7 CPU Q820 @1.73GHz
    8.00GB RAM
    Win 7 64-bit
Upon starting a new project, Encore fails pretty much every other time when you do one of the following actions:
when you import m2v files as assets
when you import a PSD file as a menu
when you click 'Save' (but it does save the project)
when you start to build a DVD
when it is approaching completion of building a DVD but still writing out the disc (upon trying the disc it does work)
when you start to build a DVD, Encore fails and you cannot eject the disc from the tray unless you hard re-boot the pc.
A very annoying and time consuming problem, that must be a software issue as I have just had my Z800 maintained and had CS5 suite re-installed. This project I am creating is not even an HD set-up, it's only 720x576. It is just me or does Encore CS5 appear to be very 'flakey' and unsupportive as it doesn't even have the library as part of the install.
Can anyone from Adobe please advise me? Or has anyone else had similar issues to the above?
    Thanks

These problems are not normal, and I am not sure what you mean by it being a "software issue." Encore users do experience more problems with Encore than other apps in the Adobe suite, and often have to use workarounds, but you are experiencing a very high level of problems that reflect that someone more is wrong.
Some users need to run Encore "as administrator" (right click, "run as administrator").
Do all operations with no disk in the drive and build to a folder or image.
    Any difference?
as it doesn't even have the library as part of the install.
That is not normal, although it happens.
    For CS5 download:
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/853/cpsid_85388.html
For CS4 (also includes install by disks):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/408/kb408826.html
I would first confirm that you do not have the "LIbrary" folder where Encore is installed. For me (win7, CS5) it is at c:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adboe Encore CS5\Library.
If Library is there, is the content in it?
If every thing else in the Adobe suite seems okay, you can try a repair install. See the CS4 link above.
To check where Encore is pointed for library:
Edit -> Preferences -> Media and check Library Content Location:

  • Encore CS5 - override does not seem to work

I have been producing DVD's using Encore CS5 for some time now.  I usually create one single encoded file with many chapter points on it, using buttons on several menus for direction.  During the menu creation I select the relevent chapter point on the encoded file by using the button link facility in the properties menu and then set override back to the original selcted button on the menu using override  "link back to here".  The means that when the menu select button is pressed on the DVD player remote it returns to originally selected button in the menu screen.  I have just started creating blu-ray projects and have tried to do exactly this when creating a blu-ray menu but this does not seem to work.  What is annoying is that when you do a preview using the Encore preview player all looks good and the return seems to be successful.  It is only when you try to play the disc on a blu-ray player (and I have tried several different makes and all do the same) does the return to the originally selected button on the menu fail, returning to what seems to be any random menu button. I have seen what has already been posted in the Forum on this and tried several of the options there, although most seem to do things slightly differently than me, linking several files together and not using a single file.  All to no avail.  Anyone any ideas what I am doing wrong.  Roger

    Jeff
Thanks again for your prompt response much appreciated and yes pressing the menu button on the blu-ray remote returns you back to menu 1 button 1 from both menus.
    Full project setup.
There are two timelines "Start" and "Showtime"
"Start" which is first play has 1 chapter point
"Showtime" has 23 chapter points. These are split between the two menus.
Main project properties:     First Play - Start Chapter 1, Override - not set, Title button - menu 1 button 1, this is possibly why the blu-ray menu selection on the remote returns here from both menus.  If I don't set this then the project errors with "Title remote not set".  I cannot set this to "Return to last menu".
Start properties:         End action - menu 1 button 1, Override - not set,  Menu remote - return to last menu.
Showtime properties:   End action - return to last menu, Override - not set, Menu Remote - Return to last menu.
menu 1:  End action - menu 1 button 1, Override - not set.
menu 2:  End action - menu 2 button 1. Override - not set
I do have background music on each menu set up in "Motion".
All buttons on both menus are set to the relevent chapter points on the "showtime" timeline with no override
    nothing else set.
    I hope this makes sense.

  • Encore CS5 main feature and scene selections from same Video?

    Hi all,
I have tried to search for a previous thread, in case there was one, but cannot see it. So, would really appreciate your help, please. I have contacted Adobe helpline when I first got the programme a few years ago, but always ended up speaking to people who did not know themselves. This took up a lot of time and still not resolved.
I usually author Blu-rays in Encore CS5 and cannot seem to grasp how to use the same video import to both, link to the 'Play Main Video' (so it plays the full video) and use the same timeline for scene selections.
When using the one video for both, I try to create the links to main video as Play all and in the scene selection menu, I link to the selected scenes. This results in the main video play stopping at, where the first scene selection starts and goes back to menu.
My 'workaround' to this has been to import the main video and import a cut down version of scenes edited in Pre Pro CS5. This takes up more file space and I am sure slows down the encoding/ converting to image file.
I would like to import the video once only. Use a link to play full video and use the scene selection menu to select the scenes.
I hope I have explained my dilemma clearly.
    Thanking you in advance.
    Using PC
    Intel i7 @ 4GHZ
    12GB Ram
    3X 1TB hard drives
    Nvidia GTX470 Graphics Card

It stops because you probably put end actions on each chapter.
There are two main methods for chapter play if you have created a single video for the whole movie (so it is on one timeline).
The method that puts end actions on the chapters requires you to use overrides, and is difficult for many users.
The easier method is using chapter playlists. Create a CHAPTER playlist, put one chapter in it, then link the chapter button to that chapter playlist. There will be one chapter playlist for each chapter. Each chapter itself has no end action set, and you set the end action for each chapter playlist to "last menu."
Since there are no end actions on chapters, when you play the timeline, it plays all the way through.

  • Help, I get this error code when installing encore cs5 from master collection Exit Code: 6.

    Hello all,
I have been having a problem installing encore cs5 into my Dell xps studio 8100.  the machine is literally three days old and aside from the os, there's nothing else installed in it.
I was able to run the installation for CS5 without any issues until it got to encore.  everything else installed without an issue but it refuses to install encore.  I have installed the same master collection on another machine, a little older than the new dell, and it installed flawlessly.  But on the new machine, no dice.
I have posted below the error msg logs i received from the install.  Any help would be much appreciated please.

Hi guys, I am needing assistance with this matter.  I have read up on similar threads (mostly commented on my Bill Hunt), but I fear I may be missing something.  Can anyboy please assist me?
    Here's the background:
    OS:  Windows 7 64-bit.
    Video footage format:  AVCHD 1440 X 1080 (1.333) 25fps, 48KHz
    Photoshop Images:  1440 X 1080 (1.333)
I have been running CS4 Master collection for the past year and a half, with minimal hassles in encore (except for the early patch that needed to be downloaded and applied for some or other transcoding error in Encore CS4).
Right, so we bought the CS5 Master collection upgrade, and all applications are running great, except Encore.  The moment I have completed editing my hour-long video in Premiere Pro CS5, I "send to Encore" via Dynamic Link.  (This is the way I have been operating countless times in CS4.  However now, in Encore CS5, the programme opens with all the regular project settings and saving dialogues, but the the moment it looks as though Encore is going get going, it stalls and doesnt respond, forcing me to close and try again.
So I tried the other way around.  I restarted Encore, created a new project, in a new project folder, encore opens, and I chose to Import as "new timeline" selecting the Premiere project of choice.  This time around, i don't get a crash out of Encore, instead I get the following message:
"The software that's used to decode the media is not available on this system.
Installing the correct decoders for the files you are working with may help to correct the problem."
So I googled the matter, and came up with Bill's response to the same problem (expect the date that it was posted was back in 2009).  I am would desperately like to know if there is a solution, a patch, a workaround of some sorts that can help me get back to my usual workflow. I am pretty screwed without encore at this present moment, and the work is piling up.  Can anybody help?
    Many Thanks,
    Matt

I am having the same problem however I end up having hardware error "Sense code 52102"
My video capture is similar to yours except I am using HD (Canon HNV model Legria HV40)
The process takes a long time and I have breaks in my recording to DVD and with no sound - once it completed after 40 hours.
I have wasted over 20 DVD's trying different things.
    OS:  Windows 7 64-bit.
    Video footage format:  HD 1440 X 1080 (1.333) 25fps, 48KHz
    Photoshop Images:  1440 X 1080 (1.333)
I have not tried what you did buy opening up Encore and importing to new timeline , let me do that and see if I get the same message.

  • Very poor video quality after transcoding in Adobe Encore CS5.1

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I have very poor video quality after transcoding the video file (MPEG) in  Adobe Encore CS5.1. Below you see my used settings in my filmproject.
The problem exists after transcoding in Adobe Encore CS5.1. I checked all steps and found out that there is no problem until transcoding. My exported file  in MPEG has very good video and audio quality.
    Facts:
    1. Camcorder: Panasonic AG-AC160AEJ
Operating System : Windows 7, 64 Bit, Ultimate edition
    Source files: MTS files
    Recording settings (clip settings):
    Type: MPEG Movie
    Image Size: 1920 x 1080
    Frame Rate: 25,00
Source Audio Format: 48000 Hz - compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1,0
    2. Sequence settings in Premiere Pro
Sequence was created from Clip directly with settings above.
    3. Exporting settings in Adobe Premiere Pro:
Match sequence settings was activated. Now other changes were set.
    4. Exported File:
    Video
    Image Size: 1920 x 1080
    Data Transfer Rate: 25920 kBit / s
    Frame rate: 25
    Audio:
    Bit rate: 384 kBit / s
    Channels: 2 (stereo)
    Frequence: 48 kHz
    5. Transcoding settings in Adobe Encore:
I used different transcoding settings such as automatic DVD Transcoding, CBR and VBR.I also set “use maximum render quality”. But all results were always the same: very poor quality.
Why does the encore transcoding cause such bad video quality?
How can I solve this problem?
    Please help me soon.
    Best regards.

    Hi Ann,
    1) I did not only „Automatic (based on source)“ options in my tests, but also many other customized options.
The results are very poor. I have done a new test with the following settings. The result is also poor:
    Download link: http://www.klavierlehrer-bayern.de/download/test_mpeg2dvd_1.m2v
    Export Settings:
    Format: MPEG2-DVD
    Preset: Custom
Codec: MainConcept MPEG Video, Quality: 5
    Frame Rate: 25 fps
    Field Order: Upper
Pixel Aspect Ratio: Automatic (based on source)
    Render at Maximum Rate: [active]
    Bitrate Encoding: VBR, 2 pass
    Minimum Bitrate (Mbps): 5
    Target Bitrate (Mbps): 9
    Maximum Bitrate (Mbps): 9
    GOP Settings
    M Frames: 4
    N Frames: 12
    Use Maximum Render Quality: [active]
    Multiplexer: None
    2) Why shouldn’t I use the “Match Sequence Settings” in exporting? Because of the big output file size?
I used it and the results are very good as I expected:
    Download link: http://www.klavierlehrer-bayern.de/download/test_MatchSequenceSettings.mpeg
    Export Settings
    Match Sequence Settings [selected]
    1920 x 1080, 25 fps, Upper, Quality 50
    User Maximum Render Quality: [active]
    3) I tried also Dynamic Link in PremierePro (to Encore).
    The results are also poor.
    4) I will test also LagarithLoslessCodec and frameserving +DGMPGDec. But the video is vertical long drawn-ot.
I think I did not use it correctly.
