Linking audio to video

Hi
I have an isight camera in my imac (never used it) & was wondering if i can record (just solo guitar possibly with vocal) using logic & somehow link it to video. To post on youtube or something like that.
Assuming my isight camera records video?
Cheers
Rob

Thank you so much Jerry and I think your close but that's not quite it. Here's the deal. That box (at the bottom of the inset, just above the words, "waveform cash") does NOT have a check mark in it. . . . HOWEVER the box at the top (under audio capture) does in fact have a check mark in it however it is greyed out. the other boxes (video capture, video render, and audio render) are blue and the check mark is in fact black.
Thank you so much for the idea and maybe you have an answer with this new information
Thanks again

  • Link audio and video

Hello guys, I have a little problem on FCP. Since a while ago, I keep having the problem that my video and audio aren't linked together. When I select the audio and video, I do go to Link and link them, but once I cut the clip, the parrt to the right becomes unlinked. SO if anyone could help me ? Thxs.

You want to toggle the linking.
Just in the top right corner of the timeline are two buttons, i can't remember which one is which as i'm not in front of fcp right now, but generally, you want them both toggled 'ON'.

  • Linking audio and video problem

Hi, I cannot figure this out. I edited a sequence yesterday, opened it today and the linking stopped working. When I add new clip to it, linking works on the new one, but still doesn't work on the clips I edited yesterday. I tried trashing prefs, clicking Shift+L with clips selected, Modify-Mark in Sync... Any ideas how to fix it? I'm crazy about it... Thanks

If audio is unlinked you link one at the time if all video clips are linked to audio and you want to unlink them then select all and hit Command+L.
If you want to move audio or video separately despite being linked toggle off linked selection button ( hit Shift+L)

  • Linking audio and Video on sequence placement.

    Help,
I know this is a dumb question but, new to FCP.
When adding a clip to the sequence, my audio and Video are
    not locked or linked together.
I always have to link them together with Option L.
    David

Please confirm that Linked Selection is toggled on. That can be done on any of these 3 ways:
    Keyboard: Shift-L
button bar in the upper-right of the Timeline (it has a chain-link graphic)
    Menubar: Edit > Linked Selection

  • Linking Audio and Video

Ok, so I'm editing a feature where the video was recorded and captured separately from the audio. I've gone through and synced up each "take" to the audio for that "take" in sequences. No problems there. However, because I'm editing 1080p ProRes in a 720p ProRes sequence for the final film (want to be able to re-frame, pan, and zoom), whenever I drop a "take" sequence within that main sequence it must render before it will play at all. If I drop just a video clip (not synced with audio in a nested sequence) it will play just fine (albeit preview quality). How do I overcome this? I know I could export each nested sequence as it's own Quicktime movie with the audio included and use those. But that is doubling my harddrive space and taking lots of time. I need to just link the video with the synced audio so I can drag them as a single clip into the primary sequence OR figure out a way for FCP not to have to render just because it's a nested sequence. I appreciate any ideas!

If it were me, I'd edit matching the clip's properties. No rendering then...
When you're done, copy the sequence into a 720 sequence, and reframe then... not before.

  • Calibrated{Q} MXF Import not linking audio with video automatically

    Dear all,
I am trying Calibrated{Q} MXF Import demo for Mac to import my old MXF files used for Avid system before to FCP. As the files were set for Avid, so the P2 file structure no more exists, and I have to import the file directly from the Avid MediaFiles/MXF/(number) folder.
Yet, when I import a video MXF file into FCP, it doesn't automatically link the audio. I did put a tick mark next to Join Audio Files to Video in Calibrated{Q} MXF Options.
Did I make any mistake, or I just have to put all five video and audio files together on a sequence to sync up myself?
    Thank you very much.
    Best regards,
    King

the company told me that as the P2 file structure is gone, the audio files won't be automatically joined the video file. In other words, I have to sync them up by myself.
    Thanks.

  • Audio and video still won't link

    Hi,
I have an ongoing problem with linking audio and video of all my clips. When I drop them into a sequence, both audio streams and the video are not linked. I select them all and go to modify 'link' and make a stereo pair, but they are still not linked!
How can I change the default setting for this please? I can only guess I have hit the wrong option at some point.
    Olly

Stereo pairs have a pair of triangles pointing downwards on A1 and upwards on A2 displayed on the audio tracks.
Linked tracks have an underlined clip name in the timeline.
The linked and stereo pair adjustments are in the Capture Settings. Set them they way you want before you capture.

  • Re-syncing audio to video

I did a paste insert of some footage into fcp6 timeline and inadvertently pushed all of the audio out of sync from that point forward. is there an easier way to re-sync than moving each audio clip and attempting to match it to the corresponding video clip above? seems like a wicked pain...
    Thanks,
    Ed

If this is a situation where all audio clips have been mistakenly shifted by the same amount, select all the linked audio and video, then - and this is key - Control-click (or right-click) on any of the clip's out-of-sync indicator (you know, the red number in the box) and select the relevant option for the special shortcut menu.
In your case that should be +Move into Sync+ but be sure you're right-clicking directly on the sync indicator (doing so anywhere else will simply give you the traditional shortcut menu).
Edit: Totally forgot - you must have the Slip Tool - the S key - active prior to right-clicking, and you've gotta hold down the Shift key to maintain group selection.

  • Grouping Audio and Video tracks?

    iMovie HD:
When I insert new clips or edit existing ones, my imported audio tracks lose sync with the clips that come after the place of edit. I am continuously manually re-aligning the audio which is very time consuming.
Is there a way to group or link Audio and video so the that imported audio will stay in sync with my clips?
I understand that it may not be possible for the clip I am working on, but what about the clips after the clip I'm editing?
    Christo

Found the answer: "Lock audio clip at playhead"

  • Using Slip Edit tool on video and linked audio

Am not able to do a slip edit on a video clip that has a linked audio track w/o the two falling out of sync. After doing a slip edit on the video I have to go back and do a slip edit on the audio track separately, even though it is marked as linked, in order to re-align it w/ the video. Shouldn't I be able to do one slip edit on both the video and audio tracks at the same time and keep them in sync?
    Jack

I understand that they're linked. If they're underlined they're linked. Linked selection is different. It's the behavior that controls what happens when you select a clip in the timeline. Check the linked selection button in the upper right of the timeline or check the Edit menu or use Shift-L.

  • How to autmatically link SMPTE audio to video?

I'm looking into audio and video options for a documentary and could use some help here. Right now I'm looking at getting a couple the HVX200s and possibly a Edirol R-4 Pro. I've done a few searches here and on many other sites, but I don't really understand how you link the audio to the video in a setup like this. A long time ago I thought I read there was an automatic way to do this so you wouldn't have to point each video clip to its corresponding audio clip. I have read about Sebsky tools, but that seems to be for film rather than a video set up like this.
So, is there a way to quickly a easily do this? We'll be shooting a lot of material for possibly a year or so we'lll need something quick and reliable. Also, would it pose a problem to FCP that the R-4 Pro will have 4 tracks of audio?
Thanks ahead of time for any help!

It can work with cameras that accept external timecode. The camera's you've piced don't have this feature. They can be synced to each other only as far as I know.
Panny makes a stepup camera from this that does accept external TC coming. They showed it at NAB... http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ModelDetail?displayTab=O &storeId=11201&catalogId=13051&itemId=97602&catGroupId=14616&modelNo=AJ-HDX900&s urfModel=AJ-HDX900
Gotta say though it's not P2, but it is HD... That's actually part of the beauty of the 200. They don't make another P2 HD camera either. also doesn't sport the cinemodes that the 200 does.
But ya know? this may well be the least expensive HD camera that accepts external TC...
Your idea of running the 4 channels to the cameras is very inventive. I'd do that in a heartbeat as long as you can stand the setup you'll need to monitor this audio at all times. You'll want a mixer around for sure. And sure saves about 40,000 bucks. eh?
You going to shoot 2 camera all the time?

  • Imported dvd into premiere pro 2014 as a linked file with audio and video but audio from previous editing file is playing with video

I am editing in premiere pro 2014 on a windows 8.1 system with 12 mega byes of ram.  I imported a dvd into premiere from a .f4v that was
    burned using freemakevideo converter.
I imported the DVD into premiere and the audio that is playing is from an previous project I edited with the program, as oppose
to, the audio that is linked with the video imported.
Do you know why this is?  I cleaned my media cache and I rebooted my machine.
    Please help

Without knowing the specs of your videos it is hard to say. I'm also running a Mac and am having no such issues.
My first thought is that you have something from a 3rd party installed that is causing conflicts. If all else fails try transcoding your mp4 files to a frame based codec using the Adobe Media Encoder. Pick one of the Apple production codecs or Jpeg compressed QuickTime.
Are you running a ram preview? Did you render your Premiere timeline? Are you new to AE?

  • Audio and video not linking

    Hi all,
For some reason, the audio and video in my timeline won't link anymore. I have Linked Selection turned on, and when I highlight the video and audio clip and go to Modify < Link, it shows that Link is checked. So it should be on. However, when I select my video or audio, they move independantly of each other. I've tried trashing my preferences, and that didn't work either. Any ideas?
    (I'm using FCE 4.0.1 on a Macbook with OS X 10.5.8)
    Thanks,
    -Matt

I'm surprised no one figured it out. I stumbled upon the answer. It's one of the two little boxes in the upper right hand corner of the timeline. The left one (linked) next to the snapping box.

  • Audio And Video Not Linked

When I drag clips from the Viewer to the Timeline I get audio and video together, but afterwards they are separate. They aren't selected together unless I do a shift-click selection, and even then I can't trim both at once. FCE does seem to remember that they should be in sync because I still get the little red boxes. This is probably just some little setting I inadvertently changed, but I have no idea what. Can someone please help?

Linked clips (video and audio) will have an underline below the name, this can be toggled on or off with Modify>Link (Command-L).
For selecting in the Timeline there is a button at the top right. This only selects the video and audio at the same time, it does not Link/Unlink.
