Linking eCatt to Solution Manager

Hi All
I am new to this so please bear with me.
I am currently learning ECatt.  I have created a small chained script within ECC6 which utilises an external file.
If I test this from ECC6 - it performs as expected - and utilising the external file for data.
When I then try to launch from Solution Manager, I get "Variants that match Selection XXXX Cannot be Found".
When I go back to the Test Configuration and take out the option of the external file and use internal with a variant - I have no problem.
I am wondering if it is possible to utilise an external file via Solution Manager.  If so, can anyone advise what may be the problem?
It is a little confusing, knowing that I can perform the test directly within ECC6.
Thanks in advance
Elvie Jenkinson

Hello Elvie,
I am facing a similar problem. Where you able to fix this issue? Kindly let me know the solution as well.
Thanks,

  • Migrate eCATTs into Solution Manager.

    Hi.
For historical reasons all our eCATTs are located in another system than the Solution Manager system.
Since introduction of the Solution Manager, this has always introduced limitations, errors and other challenges when working with testing.
Now I am wondering if anyone knows a method to migrate the eCATT test cases from the other system, into the Solution Manager system?
    Thanks in advance!
    Best regards
    Per Christiansen

    Hi Per,
to migrate eCATTs ? It is not necessary that the eCATT have to be in Solution Manager to use them. IN SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN you can define per project where the tool should look for same objects like eCATTS, you can say local or remote in an other system, you can say optional or mandatory.
I recommend to store eCATTs in the system with the highest SAP_BASIS, ok SolMan 4.0 has SAP_BASIS 7.0 this is quiet good. Then all infos are stored centrally which also makes sense.
So if you want to transport eCATTs to SolMan, where is the problem ? eCATTs have a package assigned, so you can put them on a transport request and import them into SolMan. If you have stored them as local objects, you can go to SE03 and change the package assignment to a package you can transport. I think this should help you. If you also want to transport the old eCATT results, I think this is not supported

    Hello Richard,
    (1) regarding network connections see document [Draft:Technical Support Network Connections for VAR Scenario|http://service.sap.com/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=00200797470000089947&_OBJECT=011000358700000880802009E] as overview and with a lot of detailed information.
    (2) yes, you have to setup once all your customer connections at the beginning but then only add/remove with customer contract changes
    (3) the workaround by sending by email can handled a anexception. EWA has to be done for productive systems like nowadays done by SAP. Additional EWA services could meas additional business case for a VAR - that's contract between VAR and customer.
    (4) whatever you think may be a business to sell - do it ! (and get a monetary bonus from your boss

  • Solution manager & XI

    Hi,
what is the link between SAP Solution manager & XI?
How are they intergrated? which one is used for integrate both? Is there any tool?
Does SAP Solution manager is required for XI? For what purpose?
Please answer my questions.. (plz Dont give any links..Just answer in words)
    Thanks

    Hello Silviya,
As XI, PI 7.0 exacty is a NW2004s product, sorry! now this is called NW 7.0, them you need a Solman system in order to get the installation key for the PI 7.0 installations.
This is the only prerrequisite between PI 7.0 and Solman 4.0.
After, as Solman has its own SLD, you can decide that your XI system landscape uses or not this SLD, of the Solman, as central SLD for all your system landscapes, or not, you can choose which SLD to use.
This is the only relation that they can have, that XI systems use or not the SLD from Solman system.
Apart from that, you can configurate the XI systems as satellites of solman, in this case you can manage the XI implementation project from solman system, you can monitor the XI systems from solman, etc, the usuall tasks that a solman can do for a satellite system.
The BPM from PI 7.0 has nothing to do with the Business Process Monitoring in Solman system, these are two different things.
The BPM in PI 7.0 is how you define the coreography of your xml messages inside the PI, this has nothing to do with the BPM in Solman that is an scenario to monitor business steps in your system landscapes.
    Hope this helps,
    Dolores

  • Shaping Implementation Solution Management using Solution Manager

    Hi Everyone,
Its truly amazing to see the way SAP solutions are shaping up and the way SAP is moving ahead with its roadmap of achieving 1 Lakh Customers by 2010. As we move ahead, we see solutions that focus more on business processes and break these business processes into smaller components, the utility of a tool that integrates applications and solutions becomes imminent.
Though <b>Solution Manager</b> has seen extensive usage in the area of support and monitoring, it still has to make a mark in the area of implementations. This gives us an opportunity to seek and suggest improvements to Solution Manager tool, specifically in implementations. • Links  to Documentation in a Solution Manager Project

Solution Manager Project Documentation has a feature that allows you to "link" to differnet levels of your documentation. For instance, if I attach a documentation template at the Process level of a Project and there are 10 process steps under that process, I can create links at each process step that will link to the document that I attached at the process level.
Is there a way to automatically build these links or must I create each link manually?
    Thx

    Hi Rod,
at least until solman version 7.0 ehp1 i'm not aware of any automatic way to do that. Maybe in the 7.1 could be any other option, maybe importing from any external tool.
I believe that the only things you can do in a node and replicate to the subnodes are the settings in the administration tab.
    Kind regards, Fabricius

  • Linking Solution Manager Project Documentation - MS Sharepoint

    Hello,
When working on a project in Solman we upload documents as needed in each phase or scenario. This is well known to all... But we already also, have an MS Sharepoint portal sometimes with documents already stored there.
Is there a way to include the link to sharepoint ?
In other words.. Is there a way to utilize the folder structure provided by sharepoint in solution manager without replicating documents ?

    Hello,
I think we found a way... Just during uploading a file to Solman, choose the option "web link", then your documentation tile will jump to the sharepoint folders.
    Thanks,,

  • Linking solution manager projects with CHARM implementation project

    Hi Guys,
Currently i am working in CHARM implementation project, i have created one CHARM implementation project with urgent correction and i am able to create the Transport request and release the transport request succesfully and i am able to move it to quality system successfully. But my customer is asking to link the solution manager project to CHARM implementation project.
Earlier before implementing CHARM they have implemented project managent in solution manager, during that project they have created so many projects which are currently running, now they want those projects to be linked CHARM implementation project.
When ever they create a transport request through CHARM they want the TP to be saved under a respective project which they are using currently. but according to my knowledge the TP can be saved under CHARM implementation project only.
Now i want to know whether the projects created in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN can be linked to CHARM implementation project. Pls give ur valuable inputs as it is very urgent.
    Thanks&Regards
    Raju

    Hello,
We have implemented this with two systems landscape where in we have in place a Solution Manager Dev system and Solution manager Production system both are SOLMAN 4.0 with SP12. So the path for us to move the changes is from Development Systems to Production system.
We have ChaRM between the Dev and production. We reapplied the satellite system concept. For us the Solution manager Prod is a satellite systems all the changes that we move from Development system to Production systems is tracked with necessary documentation in the ChaRM process.
Yes, I agree with you that this is not any big magic. Working with two SOLMAN implementation, I strongly feel that SAP needs to have well rounded ChaRm processes. We have robust Change Management Process, but when we moved to ChaRM we were limited functionality of the ChaRM processes.
I had approached and did some research on how other companies are implementing the same process. Most of them have almost the same process for tracking SOLMAN changes. I am still look out for improved process to manage SOLMA changes.
    Hope this helps!!! Thanks
    Vish
