Linking M2T files (5.5 to CC)

I used Premiere 5.5 to create a project.  I recently updated computers and software to Adobe Cloud and find Premiere CC as the application.  My issue is that I am trying to link the files that appear offline and I'm being given the message that "The selected file cannot be linked because its type (video) does not match the original file's type (audio and video).  What is the solution here?  Its the same file as before just in a different location.  I need this file ASAP as this is part of a larger project I work on weekly for a sports program.  Below is the MediaInfo for the file.

  • Importing .aaf file that links to .m2t file

Hi, I've been asked to do some sound editing for a video that was edited in Vegas. The video editor is able to export a .aaf file which I know STP will read. However, the video was done in HDV and the audio/video files that the .aaf file refers to are .m2t files.
STP seems to barf on those files, because when I try to import the .aaf, it says it can't find the .aaf file. So, I show it the path to the file, and then is says again that it can't find it. I take this to be a poorly designed alternative to a dialog box that says, "File format not supported."
Regardless, after doing some quick online research, I learned that .m2t files aren't natively supported by FCP, and I'm guessing that's why it's not supported by STP, too.
Does anyone have advice on a workflow that would work for this scenarios? Unfortunately, each video clip was imported to the Sony Vegas computer as a separate file. So the video project consists of literally hundreds of little .m2t files.
    Any advice?
    Cheers,
    Todd.

That is definitely true. So I could convert the 100 .m2t files into 100 QT files. but what do I do about the fact that the .aaf file still references the .m2t files?

  • Importing m2ts files but having problems with the audio layer

Hi all, I'm new to the whole video editing side of things and so would appreciate some help.
I've just bought myself a Canon HF200 HD camcorder, and a Sony Vaio notebook which came with Premiere Elements 7.0 pre-installed.
For the last month I've been shooting footage, and just getting down to trying to edit everything and put a DVD together.
The problem I have at the moment (and I've just started using the program, so everything is new to me) is that while I seem to be able to import the m2ts file format that my Canon records, only the video is imported into Premiere - not the audio.
I can play all my videos in Windows Media Player just fine, with both video and audio.  So it seems my machine is able to read the files correctly in this program.  However, the audio seems to drop out when I import the file into Premiere.  The program was pre-installed in my machine, and when I go in to have a look at the audio settings, there doesn't seem to be an ability to change the settings to something different.
So far I've spent a long time googling and trying to find a solution, but with no joy just yet.
Appreciate any assistance the anyone can offer.
    Thanks.
    Jeff

    Hi there
I think I sorted it. If you look at the Premiere Pro forum, on the right is a box with a link to "Forum Best Practices".
Click the image below for larger view.
Being a good first time poster, you read that. But the problem is, it places you inside the Forum Comments forum. So when you choose to Create a Discussion, you aren't creating the discussion in the Premiere Pro forum. Instead, you are creating it in the Forum Comments forum.
Looks like perhaps a forum mod needs to work on this and create a duplicate thread in the forums in question.

  • What's hardware should upgrade for Using Premiere CS4 to editing (AVCHD)m2ts file?

What's hardware or software should upgrade for Using Premiere CS4 to editing (AVCHD)m2ts file?
1st question: when i try to do editing by using Premiere CS4 AVCHD sequence timeline, the edting monitor seems not smooth (like wearing goggles) & delay, and when i use AME to encode m2ts file (which not yet edit) to AVI file (about 1 hour), it take 2h 13min to finish, is it normal?
2nd question: i use mpeg2 HD 1440 file to do eding, the edting monitor also not very smooth but better than using m2ts file, after editing done, i try to encode these mpeg2 HD 1440 file (which edited about long 1 hr) to a New file mpeg2 1440 X 1080i HQ or even mpeg2 Pal DV HQ file, the encoding was not runthe encoding after wait for half an hour. How many hours it take usually????
3rd question: i use m2ts file video file to export as a Bitmap, 1 frame 1 picture bitmap, it take long time too, about 1 or 2min to finish encoding, if i export more than 1 picture, it take even more time, i have experienced it, 3 or 4 pictures need about 10 or 15 min to finish encoding. i used to using mpeg2 HD 1440 file (which edited file) to export frame as picture, it not run the encoding at all. WHY ????
i'm new in Premiere CS4,so i got many question about Premiere CS4, usually i use Premiere Pro 1.5 version

    4th Question: Premiere CS5 & Premiere CS4 which one is better ???
5th Question: What's different ATI Radeon and NVIDIA Card, which is better, which u suggest to. What is different Graphic Card and Video Card ?? Should i install HD Video Card ????

I don't think a core-2 will work very well with AVCHD... you need at least an Intel i7 920... or whatever is current
My CS5/AVCHD 1st Impressions http://forums.adobe.com/thread/652694?tstart=0 includes a link to the computer I built... since the GTX 285 is no longer sold, I would now go with a GTX 460 or whatever is the current "best bang for the buck" - AND I would buy 4Gig-by-3Sticks memory to be able to expand from 12Gig to 24Gig if needed
For my home hobbyist, family movies (which means that I am not trying to recreate Star Wars with video effects or many layers) AVCHD editing is "as smooth as spreading warm butter on hot toast" (also the MP4 video from wife's Flip camera)

  • M2t files in FCP X?

    Hello Tom or Other,
We are using a Data Video HD production kit with hard drives and it records to M2t files. FCP X will not see these files. We would like to be able to join the clips from the hard drive and then import them into FCP X. Any suggestions?

  • Premiere Pro CRASH when using .M2TS files

I import the files and put them on the timeline. Everything gets very laggy at this point even though my CPU and RAM aren't sky high. Then it crashes when I'm almost finished rendering. Happens every time with .M2TS files.

I had a similar issue. I'm using Cineform and when I go to export movie, I select 'Cineform M2T' setting. It crashed during the last few seconds of export. However, the 16 min clip seemed to be okay. I successfully exported it back to tape using HD link, which was my intended purpose.

  • CS3 is making my m2t files audio go out of sync upon import

I am using a Matrox Axio LE running Premiere Pro CS3.
I'm using a Focus enhancements DR-HD100 to record in 720p 59.94 in m2t file format. After importing the clips into CS3 the video and audio is sometimes out of sync by 7-12 frames. It seems to happen with varied lengths of projects and there is no way to tell exactly when the video will go out of sync with the video.
After speaking with Techs at Focus I have run a couple tests and I don't think that anything is wrong with my DR-HD100s. I can play the same m2t clips that are out of sync in Premiere Pro CS3 in Power DVD and they play back fine. No issues with sync. It appears that Premiere Pro is doing something with the clips upon import that is messing with the sync.
    Any Ideas?

Here are a couple of thoughts:
1.) can you disconnect the Matrox and test the files in a non-Matrox Project? Any better?
2.) as PrPro can have issues with MPEG files, can you Export as a DV-AVI (or similar) from your DR-HD100? Any better?
3.) can you demux your files into elemental streams and Import these separately?
4.) is your OOS issue constant, over the course of a Clip, or does it drift? Constant can be easily fixed in PrPro, by turning Snap OFF, then Alt-clicking the Audio only, and nudging it along the Timeline. Once done, the Audio and Video will be re-linked. Rember to turn Snap back ON. If it drifts, you may need to Razor the Clips and work on the resulting parts separately, as stated before.
5.) have you tried Render/Replace for the Audio? This will get you a WAV file. Is that any better?
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • What is the best way to import m2ts files into iMovie?

I have spent the afternoon reading various forums about converting m2ts files into iMovie.  Transferring the files back onto the HD Sony Handicam is not an option.  I therefore need to somehow convert the files as they stand.  There seems to be 2 main options to convert files from .m2ts to .mov:
    1.  Download MPEG Streamclip; drag clips into window; export to QuickTime and choose Apple Intermediate Codec.
    2.  Download Clip Wrap ($50) to rewrap m2ts files into mov files.
It seems that option 2 is likely to be quicker and easier.  Is this other people's experience?  Any feedback would be extremely helpful.....I am a fairly new Mac user.
    Cheers.

MPEG Streamclip cannot do m2ts files.
Your options are ClipWrap and Voltaic HD. Both cost money but should work fine.
I believe Karsten Schlüter has posted some free alternatives on his website. Let me see if I can find his link.
    Here it is. http://sites.google.com/site/karstenschluter/mts-to-mov
You should only need to do this for your existing files. For any files you shoot in the future, you can import them into iMovie directly from your camera, or easier still, from your SDHC card.
A good tip is to create an archive of your clips so that you have the original clips along with the original folder structure. That way you will not have to use ClipWrap or Voltaic on future shoots. You will find the Archive function on the iMovie Import screen when your camera is attached. I am in the habit of 1) creating an archive. 2) Importing to iMovie from the Archive. 3) Making a backup copy of the archive off-site 4) Only then, reformat the camera to clear it out for the next shoot.

  • *** How to export as an .m2t file?

My rental shop would like me to try and export some of my HDV footage so that I can watch it on their recorder. It apparently allows you to watch HDV footage that is burned on a regular DVD and it's HDV quality.
The problem is, how do I create an .m2t file from Final Cut Pro?
    Thanks in advance.

I have an AVeL Link Player (JVC ProHD) SRDVD-100 that I bought to see if I could get my HD videos to an HD display for le$$ than producing HD-DVD or BD discs and after a lot of trials and errors I found a very fast an easy way to play HD in it using CD, DVD, USB or its network connection.
To accomplish, you need FCP or FCE to export your movie and then encode it with Compressor 2. The trick is that Compressor 2 does not have a preset for high definition (HD) .m2t files. You will have to create it and here is how...
    - Compressor has the correct setting (except audio muxing and file extension) in its "HD DVD: HD-MPEG2 30 minutes" settings folder.
    - Since you cannot duplicate it to modify it (at least it is grayed out from my side), create a new setting identical to it.
    - Change two things: in the 'Encoder' options, under the 'Extras' tab, have ONLY the "Multiplexed MPEG-2 transport" selected. Deselect the first two.
    - Make sure the extension is set to ".m2t"
    - Save it. Use it.
    - This is for HD! You might need to change a few things for SD or start differently.
Now, I can export my HD movies to a QT wrapper a have the fast Compressor 2 convert it to .m2t. I copy it to a CD, DVD, or thumb-drive and presto. It plays as HD. Since my footage has all been 720 24p, I have not test it at other resolutions and BTW, I don't even record with HDV. I use a Panasonic with DVCPRO HD.
It took me a lot to find a fast workflow and I really hope this can help you. For this device I even tried DviX and it works BUT, even at HD, DivX cannot compare to .m2t or H.264. Never. Plus it takes for ever to convert to DivX. Forever!

  • VC-1 codec not supported? Advice on converting m2ts file to supported format

I think maybe Premiere Pro does not support VC-1 encoding. True? False?
There is a favorite old film of mine I wanted to 'fix' by adding the original soundtrack (the remix is horrible) plus the original ending (removed for all Western versions).
Unfortunately the m2ts file crashes Premiere Pro every time I try to import it.
I've been looking at solutions to convert the video to something useable, but so far no luck. It's a 1080p/24 m2ts and obviously I want to keep the quality as is and not degrade it.
Anyway, I thought someone here might have the answer.
I have Adobe CS5 Production Premium and I am on a PC.
I do have DVDfab on my system, if that can be used to convert/transcode. I've no idea.

If you're creating a DVD, there's really no choice of codecs, since DVD video is a very specific and tightly constrained form of MPEG-2 video. MPEG-2 video is highly compressed and is not a high-definition format, so it is absolutely unavoidable that export to DVD video will cause some quality loss. This is true for even professionally created DVDs. There is an MPEG-2 DVD export preset in After Effects that you can choose from the Format menu in the Output Module Settings dialog box.
If, however, you're handing off your video as input to a larger work, and you need to create an intermediate file that preserves all detail for as long as possible in the post-production pipeline, then you should render and export using lossless encoding. My preference for creating losslessly compressed intermediate files from 8-bit-per-channel sources is the PNG video codec in a QuickTime (MOV) container.
See this FAQ entry (and the pages that it links to) for more  information about compression and choosing settings for specific  purposes:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/729526
You mentioned "jerky" output. See this FAQ entry for information about losslessly encoded movies and how they are not suited for playback:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/684381
Or perhaps the jerkiness is coming from the frame-rate mismatch between your 30fps source and 25fps composition. If so, then frame blending can help.

  • Shockwave won't play linked Director files from server

I created a bunch of director files for the course content of my  class. All can be accessed from a contents file. When I created an html  contents file on my desktop (in the same folder as the linked director  files), the contents pages would open in shockwave in my browser (both  Firefox and Safari) and then by clicking on a link other director files  would open and play. However, when all these files were place on our  server (in the same folder), only the contents pages would open and we  get an error message saying the dirctor files cannot be opened. I think  this means it sees them, but can't open them.
    Help!

    Hi Sean
sorry if my e-mail was a bit whiney, but I got a bit frustrated,
having tried to use the Adobe website for help and then trying for
help over the phone. Adobe has this nice thing where they will call
you back instead of you sitting on hold, which I used at first, but
you get called back by a machine, not a person, then you subsequently
get a progression of robocalls with nobody on the other end! I
finally just sat and waited and got a person, who seemed
knowledgeable and nice, but couldn't help me without a payment. So, I
would greatly appreciate any help you could provide!
What I have is this. I constructed a "book" in CD form for my
class. This is based on CDs that Mike Coleman and I published a few
years ago. A picture of the contents page is shown below. Each topic
is in a separate Director file, each with its own casts. We made a
lot of animations, some in Flash and some in Quicktime that appear in
each topic. I redid everything in Director 11.5, changing text
spacing because of the way things get altered when things get played
in Shockwave! When I click on one of these subtopics, the
corresponding Director file opens. I accomplished linkage this by
appending a behavior to the text, "Play Movie X". I then originally
made a projector file of the contents page and distributed the CD to
my class free (textbook prices are getting out of hand). Now I want
to put it on the web, because I'm tired of burning CDs and we're
getting students from other locations taking the course on-line. So
within the folder on my desktop that held all the Director files, I
made a second folder "dswMedia" into which I placed all the
animations. I also linked all the animation casts to the Contents
Director file. I then constructed a Contents.html file and
Contents.dcr file using the Publish commands in Director. When I
click on the Contents.html file within my main folder (the one
holding all the Director files and the dswMedia file) the page opens
nicely in my browser (Firefox) and I can play all the Director movies
by clicking on each topic. All the animations play beautifully.
Great , I thought, I'm in business. I then took the files to our
media guy who put it on the server, in the same form as on my
desktop. If we click on the Contents.html file through the web it
opens. Clicking on a topic does not open that Director Movie. The
error message is not that it can't find the movie, however, but that
it can't open it. Everything works just fine on our media guys
computer,  we only have a problem when we attempt to use this stuff
through the web. (Our web guy's computer does not have Director, so
    that's not the issue).
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!
             Regards
                    Paul
