Linking my apple Id to User Account

I recently upgraded to Yosemite on my MAc.  When signing on I tried to link my Apple ID, but the 2 step verification wasn't sending the code to my phone, so I left it for later.  Now, on going back to set this up, I can't find where to do it.  I'm guessing System Preferences and User Accounts somewhere, but just can't work out how to go about it.  Thanks.

System Preferences > Users & Groups > Password
Enable  “Allow user to reset password using Apple ID”.
To let the user reset the password while logging in on this Mac, select “Allow user to reset password using Apple ID.” If this option is dimmed, click Set, then enter the user’s Apple ID.

Go to transaction PPOMA_CRM. Search for your business role say SALESPRO in the Position Search.Double click on the role so that its details are visible on the right hand side. Then search for your user from the user search. When it comes in the left side bottom, drag and drop it to the position on the right side.

  • Linking a new resouce with user account in Sun IDM via activesync

    Hi,
I am having a new resource which contains the user records. Now I want to link that resource to the existing and new users in Sun IDM.
I do not want to update and create user in the new resource. I just need that a link is created in Sun IDM when ever activesync runs on users account.
Please guide me how to achieve the same.
    Regards,
    Nitin

I'm afraid I can't share the exact code but it should be straight forward through the following:
    1. define a field (call it ldapDN)
    2. create a rule to user getResourceObjects to search for the user DN and return the DN to ldapDN.
    3. when ldapDN is not null, expand waveset.resources and add your LDAP resource, like:
    <Field name='waveset.resources'>
    <Expansion>
    <append>
    <s>LDAP</s>
    4. Then set the accountId for that resource as
    <Field ........ accounts[LDAP].accountId>
    <Default><s>ldapDN</s></Default>
and you should be set... hope it helps.

  • Can two user accounts of one computer use two different Mac ID accounts?  I'd like to keep separate accounts for movies, music etc.

I have a Mac Air running 10.8.5, with two users on it.  I'd like to keep separate Apple store accounts accounts for the two users, as we have separate music, movies, books etc.  To date, we've had separate computers, but now will share the one computer.  But when the second account is signed in and we try to sign in to the I-tunes store, or authorise the computer with the second account, the response is "the I-Tunes store is not available" or "we cannot fulfil your request at this time".  Togetherness is nice, but I'd prefer to have some privacy.

    Hi Harrike2000,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like you’re running into an iTunes Store connection issue in one of the user accounts on your MacBook Air, and you want to know if the issue is related to using multiple Apple IDs or user accounts.
You can use multiple user accounts and Apple IDs with one computer, see this article for more information:
How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer - Apple Support
For the issue connecting to the iTunes Store, try the suggestions in the article linked below.

    Troubleshoot issues on a Mac
If you haven't been able to connect to the iTunes Store, a software conflict or your Internet service provider (ISP) may be blocking your access.
Update iTunes and Safari to the latest version.
If you have a firewall, your settings may be preventing you from connecting to the iTunes Store. Follow these steps to configure your firewall.
You may need to reset your keychain. Connection issues are occasionally caused by keychain issues. Learn how to use Keychain First Aid to resolve any issues with your keychain.
If you're receiving a specific error message, follow these steps.
If the issue still persists, contact your Internet service provider and confirm that these ports and servers are enabled over your network.

If the steps above didn't resolve your issue, be sure that your specific alert isn't listed as a possible iTunes Store error. Then, if your issue is still unresolved, follow these steps.

  • How to set up shared use of "Contacts" data w/ 2 individual user accounts?

How to set up shared use of application "Contacts" data for two individual user accounts?

Link the contacts in one user account to a online cloud based system like Google or apples iCloud and then link the second user to that same online account. This could cause some slight problems if both people maintain their own online account to either of those systems on a phone or pad.

  • Directory Console with user accounts.

    Hellos,
Is it possible for me to create an "admin" user with just add/modify/update rights in a specific subtree but can view ALL attributes on Edit.
I have tried using Access Permissions. I can set the user and rights and subtree OK.
My problem is that when I open the Console and login as my user...
    I can only see 2 tabs.. Servers/Applications and Users/Groups.
When I seach Users I can only see the 3 action buttons: Edit Delete Create
Edit only allows me to edit certain common attributes...
How do I get the Advanced Edit features which shows ALL attributes a user has, e.g. lastmodified title etc etc...
Any hints accepted. I have trawled the manuals.
Is advanced edit (or generic editor) only a "true" administrator user (Directory Manager) feature?

I think I have solved my own problem - On the user accounts page there is a link to "change the way user accounts log on or off". When I clicked on this I got a message saying settings could not be changed because of an offline page setting. When I changed this setting, I was able to select the types of user switching, and my other user accounts became available.

  • IPad / iOS - Multiple User Accounts

I (and countless others) would love it, if the iPad could set up multiple user accounts, just like the Mac OS; multiple user and guest accounts in iOS, is such an obvious need.
The iPad is so meant for multiple users in a household, guests etc. I don't want to hand someone, a friend or anyone my iPad with access to all my email, pictures, bank info, game scores, etc., etc. when they just want to surf the web or DJ some music from my music library on the home network.
Please, please Apple, add multiple user accounts to the iPad, just like the native Mac OS.
While you're at it, add this to the iPhone—sometimes I want to let a friend or relative play games or whatever on a roadtrip, withouth them digging through my personal info, a guest account with specified app access and premissions would resolve this.
Apple, I know you're trying to sell devices, but look back to see why you implemented this in the Mac OS to discover why you'd do it for portable devices too, it's a no-brainier.
    Thanks!!

Nobody from Apple here. Just other users like yourself.
You are not the first person to ask for this and I'm sure you will not be the last. But, if you really want to get the message across... Try here.

  • Apple-ID adding underlying account for familymembers?

How do I add familymembers on my Apple-ID account. I´v heard that you can add undelying accounts?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
No, they would each be best with their own iCloud Apple ID and user account on your mac/PC, the family option was for the previous mobile me service. You could share an ID, but then you couldn't each have your own address book and appointments and share them with the computer.

    Hi GuruHD,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  The article below will explain how to set up your two-step verification.
Frequently asked questions about two-step verification for Apple ID - Apple Support
How do I set up two-step verification?
    Go to My Apple ID.
Select Manage your Apple ID and sign in.
    Select Password and Security.
Under Two-Step Verification, select Get Started and follow the onscreen instructions.
    How does it work?
When you set up two-step verification, you register one or more trusted devices. A trusted device is a device you control that can receive 4-digit verification codes using either SMS or Find My iPhone. You're required to provide at least one SMS capable phone number.
Then, any time you sign in to manage your Apple ID at My Apple ID, sign in to iCloud, or make an iTunes, iBooks, or App Store purchase from a new device, you'll need to verify your identity by entering both your password and a 4-digit verification code, as shown below.
After you sign in, you can securely access your account or make purchases as usual. Without both your password and the verification code, access to your account will be denied.
You will also get a 14-character Recovery Key to print and keep in a safe place. Use your Recovery Key to regain access to your account if you ever lose access to your trusted devices or forget your password.
    Cheers,
    Judy

  • Problems associating device to Apple ID/user account on my mac

    Hiya,
I'm trying to help a friend out by backing up her devices (iPad and iPhone) to my computer so I can update the OS on both.
I had previously sync'd her iPad to my iTunes to back it up, but I then figured afterward it'd be better to create a new user account for her on my computer and sync everything that way, just to ensure that everything is in its right place. The problem that I've come up with is that the iTunes on her user account on my computer doesn't show her device. When I tried to deactivate the device on my user account on the computer, it talked about wiping the iPad which I absolutely do not want to do until I'm assured that it's all backed up first to her user account on my computer. She's had a friend previously who tried to back up her devices and lost everything, so I'm being extra careful to not fall down that path.
I looked at other posts on the Apple support website — stuff about deactivating devices/accounts and all that — but they didn't mention anything about separate accounts on the same computer. I looked at my iTunes Store > Account > Manage Devices and it doesn't list her device, so I'm not sure why it's not letting me disassociate her iPad from my iTunes with the wiping condition. I figured it'd be something to do with sharing a device on multiple Apple IDs, but as far as I'm aware, I've only authorised my computer (or perhaps my Apple ID) permission to sync her device's contents to iTunes. I had hoped that a new user account would get around this as I'm now using her user account with her Apple ID, however no dice. The other annoyance is that she has no music, TV, movies, or books purchased on her Apple ID, only a few apps.
So now I've some how gotten to the point in which I have "transferred" her iPad to iTunes on her user account/Apple ID on my computer and it's got some 90-day timer thing — I have no idea what the **** that's there for since it hasn't been linked to my Apple ID (that I know of), just only authorised on my account/computer.
It's quite confusing and rather daunting. I feel I'm faced with a precarious situation: wipe her iPad and hope that the back-up on my account's iTunes will work correctly; or wait 90 days (why?) to then be able to properly sync her iPad to my computer, by that time I will have left France and can't help her then.
If anyone could please shed some light on my dark position, I would be rather grateful!

It might be too late in terms of time and what has happened with the 90 day lockout problem, but you should be able to create another user account for her on your computer so she can have her own iTunes library. This provide some insight as to how you can do that.
How to use multiple iPhone, iPad, or iPod devices with one computer
The 90 day lockout occurs when you associate an iOS device with another Apple ID when you download a past purchase using the second ID. This is Apple's way of preventing users's from downloading each other's paid content for free. There is absolutely no way to overcome the 90 day lockout. You just have to wait it out before the device can be associated with another Apple ID.
This is a great user tip that explains how to transfer the contents of an iOS device into a new iTunes library to create a new syncing library for a user. It might prove to be helpful to you.

  • IMac with multiple user accounts "cannot associate apple id for ....."

I have an iMac with multiple user accounts each with an Apple ID and individual iTunes library and Itunes match linking to iPhones iPads etc.
I bought songs on my iPhone yesterday, on trying to listen to them on the iMac (my user account) this morning I get the "cannot associacte Apple ID for another 31 day" meassage.
Is there any way round this? or is the answer only purchase via iTunes on the iMac in the individual account. Why do Apple do this?

I'm guessing it's for piracy reasons.

  • Apple mail crashes on start-up: user account corrupt?

    Hi
I have installed all the latest software updates, but my Mail keeps crashing. I have cleaned (reset) plist and emptied and cleaned the address book, but the problem persists. I have created a new user account and Mail works fine for that account. I think that I have a corrupt user account. Is there anyway to clean a user account without losing all my doc's etc?

  • Secure link to iTunes unsuccessfull on only one user account ?

I keep recieving the message in  the iTunes store diagnostics that  " secure link to iTunes unsuccessfull " , but only on one user account.
    Other connections are O.K.
    Help ?

Scorpion Sting, however, when I change user account on my machine, it's back to its normal fast speed.
Here's the whole litany for thoroughly checking your home folder.
    1. Navigate to ~(YourHome/Library/Fonts - drag this folder to the desktop.
    • Restart and test your applications.
    • If they work start adding the fonts back few at a time.
( Likely suspects are Times RO & Helvetica Fractions, also if you do not use Classic you can trash the classic fonts.)
    2. Check Preferences Thoroughly;
    • Navigate to ~(YourHome/Library/Preferences drag this folder to the desktop.
    • Restart and test your applications.
    • If this works, save the old preferences folder somewhere else or on disk, name it "old prefs" .
** Note: A very important file is the "com.apple.Mail.plist" preference file located in the Preferences folder which contains all email account settings and general mail preferences (hold this one and replace if your problem is not with Mail).
You'll have to go through some of your System Preferences and apps to set the preferences back to how you like them. (Or if you have the time and inclination, "cherry pick" through until you find the problem one or two.)
    3. Check Permissions Inside Home Folder
    • Navigate to YourHome/Library.
    • Get Info (Command - i) on folders for apps you are having problems with.
    • Open the "Ownership & permissions" disclosure triangle.
    • Make sure you are the owner, with "read and write" access.
    • Click on "apply to all"
    • If this is correct, open the "Applications Support" folder and do the same procedure (Command+I) for the folders with the names of the applications you are having trouble with.
    Note:
The reason to check this is because repairing permissions with Disk Utility doesn't touch permissions inside your home folder.
    4. Navigate to YourHome/Library/Caches and drag this folder to the trash, then log out and back or restart. There is no need to replace this folder.

  • Can I Do This - Multiple User Accounts, Same Apple Account?

I'm wondering if I can do this - I just got a new pc for my wife and kids, each of whom have an ipod. They have been sharing a username and Apple.com account (the xxxx@yyyy id) on the old pc, each synching their ipods with no problems.
On the new PC, which is Vista64 based, they will have their own user account. Can they still use the same Apple account, and share the same songs/Itunes library or will there be problems?
If problems, any suggestions for my setup?
    Thanks in advance.

That shouldn't be a problem at all, Bruce. Have a look at this article in the Apple Knowledge Base for the general strategy and post back for any further details you may need.
