Linking non-iWeb photo galleries

I have been building flash web galleries with such programs as Lightroom and Slideshow Pro. They are easy to add to a GoLive site, but I haven't figured out how to do this with iWeb. I can upload them to a server and link to them as external links, but I can't find a way to integrate them as part of the iWeb site so it can all be uploaded together as I do with GoLive. What am I missing, or is it a limitation of iWeb?
Thanks,
Peter

If you were publishing to .mac and using iphoto web galleries you would have the option to insert from the iweb menu.
Other than that I believe you would have to upload and link.
good luck

  • IWeb Photo galleries not appearing in latest Firefox

Anyone else notice that the latest Firefox won't show the iweb photo galleries?
They do show up in IE and safari, but not firefox. I've tested on all 3 browsers on both Mac and PC (well, not IE for mac, cause it doesn't exist anymore)
here is the url to the photo page. http://www.pgbond.com/Site/Concert_Photos.html
if you have multiple browsers, give it a try and let me know.

    Phil,
I had a similar problem last week - even Safari was not working with the Gallery for a while. Then Safari started working, but not Firefox. Old Toad had gone through different things with me to no avail. I got onto Apple live Chat and someone talked me through clearing the cache and cookies. And that got the gallery working. But a couple of days later, the Firefox stopped working again - but back working within a few hours. I tried your page and the message said that the pages could not be found. When mine was down, I was getting a message saying that my browser did not support this gallery, but the message had a copyright of 2007 and it referred to an old Mac OS (Tiger) and old Firefox. So it looked like that was an old message. Touch wood - Firefox has been working now for several days. So try clearing the cache and see if that helps.

  • IWeb photo galleries cause Internet Explorer to crash

Please help! I am a novice as far as web design goes and have spent a long time getting my site up and going. It works perfectly on Firefox, Chrome, Safari etc but when using Internet explorer the photo galleries cause the browser to crash/freeze.
If you leave it for approximately 5 minutes sometimes it starts working again.
    My website is www.hboydwatercolours.co.uk
Any help would be very much appreciated.

ps i am using *iweb 3.0.2*

  • How to Link to iWeb Photos from Blogs

I used one iWebsite to serve as a repository for photos I'd include in various blogs I write. I had always been able to easily drop a link into the graphics insert window when creating a new blog.
With the upgrade to v2 of iWeb as part of iLife '08, those links are all gone. As well, I can't seem to figure out how to reestablish the links to the photos on iWeb - all I can do is create a link to a slide show or the page on which the photos resided.
    Would appreciate help.

In the past, when I'd establish a link to a photo on one of my iWeb pages, I'd open the photo by clicking on it - a new window would appear with ONLY that photo on it, and I'd drag and drop the photo into the link drop box on the blog site's graphic insert index.
NOW, when I click on the photo, I get slide show or download options - if I try to drag the photo into the link drop box on the blog site's graphic insert index, the entire web page URL is what is inserted - and you see an image of the entire web page.
Each photo doesn't have it's own URL anymore - so how can you (can you?) establish a link to an individual image on a page?

  • IWeb Photo Galleries not showing up

    Hi,
I am having a few problems with my website...
    www.jonnyback.com
It does not display all the photo galleries on both mac and PCs but mostly failing on PCs.
    Can you help?
The portfolio page is the main issue.
    Thank you,
    Jonny

    Jonny:
I'm having problems with that page using Safari 4. When i first go to it I see 4 galleries. But if I visit a gallery and then go back to the index I only get two displayed. And which two changes depending on which gallery I'm coming from.
Have you used an HTML snippet to remove the slideshow option from the gallery? Just a quess but that may be what is causing problems both for me and for PCs.

  • IWeb Photo Galleries

    Hey Guys
I want to create a flash photo gallery using the automate function in Photoshop and then copy the script into an HTML snippet somewhere on one of my iWeb pages...
    ...possible?
    ...any help appreciated.

Put your flash photo gallery folder on the server.
Open it in a browser window to check that it displays as intended.
Then copy the URL and paste it in the HTML Snippet with an <iframe>
    <iframe src="http://url.to.file.html" frameborder="0" width="500" height="500" scrolling="no" allowTransparency="true"></iframe>
If you use a script or code and want to paste that in the HTML Snippet, then make sure the path to the files are correct.
Anything you paste in the HTML snippet is your responsibilty. iWeb happily publishes it whether it works or not.

  • How to get MobileMe photo galleries into iWeb or from Aperture?

I currenlty use MobileMe for an iWeb  published site, on which I have a link to a several dozen photo galleries, all pub;ished from Aperture.  iPhoto has an iWeb "button", but Aperture does not so far as I can see.  I am trying to find the easiest way to keep all of my stuff intact once MM dies next year.  How can I migrate, not link, my MM photo galleries into iWeb, and/or publish them from Aperture into iWeb?  Once I have the photo galleries as part of iWeb, then I'll be able to use it to publish to another web hosting service.  Thanks!

Do you have the original image files used to make up those MMe Galleries?  If so you can group them into albums in iPhoto and use the iWeb Album page or Photos page and ignore the MMe galleries.
If the files are in Aperture and there's no Aperture section in iWeb's Media Browser you will have to export those files out of Aperture as originals and drag them either into iPhoto or into an iWeb photos page.  I don't use Aperture so an unsure of what can be done between Aperture and iWeb.
If those galleries are the only copy of the photos you have you'll need to download the file (if the gallery allows it) and import into iPhoto before going into iWeb.

  • IWeb photo gallery comparison with PicasaWeb

How iWeb Photo Galleries are compared to say, PicasaWeb Albums ? or even PBase or Shutterfly ?
In terms of attractive visual presentation?
    Worth investing $100?
    Thanks!

You are missing a number of files from your website.  You can see which are missing by bringing up the Activity window (Command+Option+A) while viewing the Places page in Safari and looking at the list of files in the window.
How are you publishing the site?  With iWeb?  If so then try using the File ➙ Publish Entire Site menu option to see if that will force those missing files to be uploaded.
If that doesn't work you can publish your site to a folder on your hard drive and use a 3rd party FTP client, like the free  Cyberduck, to upload the site files. If you have to continue to use Cyberduck this tutorial may help: #2 - Uploading Only Those Newly Published or Edited Files When Using a 3rd Party FTP Client.

  • Photos missing from photo galleries in iWeb 08

I currently have a very big problem with iWeb 08:
after opening & converting the existing domain, and saving, upon re-opening the domain, all photos from the photo galleries are missing. The page is literally empty except for the space holder, not even the menu bar etc. is there.
All other pages are ok, it's just the photo galleries that have been corrupted.
I had saved the old domain, and retried it, it happened also on the second attempt.

I've been doing some experimenting on a copy of a backup I had of my domain files (THANK GOODNESS--be sure YOU have one too!), and I may have resolved my issues:
    1. This time, I made sure to put the Domain file in the preferred iWeb location ( i.e. <my user account>/Library/Application Support/iWeb--it wasn't there on my first try (I had it in a different folder location).
    2. I double-clicked the Domain file to launch iWeb, which then went through the entire upgrade of the file process again. It took quite a while (20+ minutes), but finished without any errors.
    3. I spot checked the photo album pages by clicking to look at them--they had returned!
    4. I immediately SAVED and closed out of iWeb.
Now going back into iWeb, evertyhing seems to be functioning normally. I've even made some layout changes to some of the album pages, saved and no problems. I've also applied different templates to other pages (not brave enough to try that on my albums yet!) and that seems to work.
Also, I've not been brave enough to actually PUBLISH yet, but am getting close...
I would, however, still like to see an explanation and official reslution for this problem posted here. This has caused me a great deal of pain, angst and consternation, but I think I'm ok for the moment.

  • Windows Firefox 3.0 breaks iWeb 08 Photo Galleries

The latest update to the Windows version of Firefox, 3.0, broke the photo galleries in all of my iWeb created sites. Found this script patch at Mac Update....
    http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/27819/fix-iweb-and-firefox-3
...which claims to restore those features (photo gallery, slide shows, blog comments) but it didn't work for me. Downloaded the script and installed it and republished several sites but you still can't see the photos in Firefox 3 (Windows Internet Explorer sees them fine.)
Mozilla is going to put out 3.1 which will supposedly fix the problem, but not until next year. sigh.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Have you tried the above patch and found it to work? Or is there another fix out there to resolve this?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Well, now you know as much about it as I do. You might post in one of Wyodor's threads and ask him. I just kind of got what he developed or found and regurgitated it.
Did you also do the editing of the iWPopUpSlideshow.css and iWPopUpSlideshow.js files inside the iWeb application. What you do is edit each file and change all occurrences of mac.com to me.com.
The js file would be located in the Scripts folder inside iWeb and the css file is in the Media folder if I remember right. You might give that a try and republish (if you haven't already done that fix).
Doesn't matter whether Tiger or Leopard.

  • Is ilife any good at publishing simple photo galleries like iWeb/ mobile me used to be?

is ilife any good at publishing simple photo galleries like iWeb/ mobile me used to be?

As Roddy pointed out iWeb will still create album and/or photo pages that will work on the hosting server of your choice.  These two pages are demos of that: Using an iWeb Album Page as an Alternative to MobileMe Galleries  and Using an iWeb Photo Page as an Alternate to a MobileMe Gallery

  • Problems with Multiple Photo Galleries

Hey all, I am having issues with multiple photo galleries. The problem is, iWeb will randomly delete old photo libraries when new ones are made.
My workflow is each blog entry has its own Photo Library attached to it, so i really would love to be able to keep this functionality.
Does anyone have any clues as to why they are getting deleted? They literally just vanish from the entries in iWeb...
    Many thanks, Matt

    mattperrott wrote:

Matt ~ Even without adding such complexity, many people have problems with their iWeb blog. So even if someone helps you to solve this problem, you may then be back with a different iWeb blog problem: Lost all your blog entries or all your comments or unable to publish, etc.
    mattperrott wrote:
Any thoughts on why this might happen?
The simple answer is that Apple's implementation of iWeb's blog appears to be buggy. Every day on these forums you'll likely see a couple of problems with iWeb's blog, often "solved" like this: +"I deleted my blog page, and was able to successfully publish the site"+. Also, if you ever have to re-publish everything (say, after upgrading iWeb) you'll wish you had a web-based blog.
    mattperrott wrote:
This isnt a problem currently but if i ever need to republish my entire site it is a potential killer, especially as it grows...
The person who posted the following thread had similar concerns saying: +"...I get the feeling when this gets bigger, it'll outgrow iWeb's capability."+ Read his solution here:
_To blog or not to blog_
And to link to an external blog from iWeb's navbar:
Create a blank internal page titled "Blog" (Actually you can name the page whatever you want.) Then in that Blog page add an HTML Snippet with the following code:
    <script type="text/javascript">
parent.window.location = "http://www.yourblogname.com"; // change this to your own URL
    </script>
...Once published, clicking on "Blog" in the navbar will immediately redirect to your external Blog page. (Thanks to Cyclosaurus for the code).
By the way, rather than posting your URL in these forums like this:
    www.local-hero.com.au
...include the prefix to make it conveniently clickable:
    http://www.local-hero.com.au

  • Web gallery use vs iWeb photo page

I really like the quick layout of the gallery. Would I be saving more iDisk space by using the Aperture Web gallery vs iWeb photo pages?? My guess is yes because I can control the size in page/detail and more when I save to my .mac. The only feature I would lose is the flow of navigation with the other iWeb pages.
My thought was to create a main photo page with iWeb and have a small snapshot to hyperlink to the homepage.mac gallery created with Aperture. This allows flexibility in adding/removing the galleries if space becomes an issue. I dont have much in iWeb so far and it takes a really long time to load as it is. I'd hate to bog down more with photo galleries.

    hello, me100finn
quote: "The only feature I would lose is the flow of navigation with the other iWeb pages."
You can always manually make a link to the other web pages which is what I do.
Just a few more added features to Aperture Web Gallery and Web Journal like an advance option feature to view & change the CSS or source code (without going to GoLive or Dreamweaver) or something along the lines of "would you like to add a link to another url?" would be tasty.
quote: "My thought was to create a main photo page with iWeb and have a small snapshot to hyperlink to the homepage.mac gallery created with Aperture."
Yup, my thoughts too. Maybe version 2 (i hope). I'm making the site first in Aperture (the heavy lifting) and then making minor additions and tweaks in GoLive.
To do this add the image, select it after the export in a wysiwyg html editor and point it to the proper linked url.

  • Shadowbox problem in Default iWeb Photos Page

    Hi Guys,
Ive been using shadowbox to create a pop up menu when the user clicks on the login button of my website.
http://www.sotonpcp.org then click the Login button at the top.
    To do this I have:
    1. Created a link to the desired page with iWeb
    2. Published site to a folder
    3. Used search and replace to add the shadow box code just before the </head> command
    4. Used search and replace to add the shadow box reference to all links containing the Login reference
I have referenced the root directory for the shadowbox file reference so that the menu will work on all levels of the directory. (e.g. Within iWeb blog articles)
However, the problem I am having is that when i load my iWeb photo gallery, none of the albums are displayed. The shadowbox works fine, but renders my gallery page useless.
If I delete the shadowbox folder from my root directory then it works again. Re-upload it and it breaks again.
Any ideas on why this might be, and if so how do I fix it?
    Best Regards,
    Mike

I was thinking the same thing. I guess if it's working on your iPad and my iMac it's got something to do with with the iPhone 4. Although, I'm not ruling out the idea of iWeb not being iOS 4 friendly. You'd think Apple would optimize their iWeb sites for mobile devices, because this happens whether it's on WiFi or 3G. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  • Trying to figure how photos "travel" from iPhoto to my iWeb photo pages

    Greetings,
I have I believe gotten t understand just about all I need for now about building web sites with iWeb and its templates (for now). Works well. I am publishing to my .Mac account (for now).
Now, I want to fully understand how photos albums/pages are kept up/coordinated, on my computer, on .Mac Gallery and on the actual .Web site (on .Mac)
Here what I have done so far in regard to posting and upkeeping photos (works well!):
Selected pics from iPhoto >>> Made albums on my MBP
    Published Albums on Web Gallery
    Built website with iWeb
Built photo pages/my album page (indexing)
Inserted my Web Gallery albums into my website
Published the whole thing on .Mac.
    My questions:
*1. Somewhere in Tutorials, it says that: "with .Mac Web Gallery, you can get the shots you wish you had by allowing friends to contribute photos (from their browsers, email). And, whenever new photos are added, they are automatically sinced to your iPhoto08 library".* I am assuming same should/would happen when my iWeb site viewers upload theirs pics (which I am encouraging!) to my Web galleries via my iWeb site. I do not see that happen however. Web gallery gets of course updated by such uploads, +but NOT iPhoto library.+
    2. Some other iWeb Tutorial states *"If you are a .Mac member, you can publish photos/movies from iPhoto and iMovie directly to your Web Gallery. When a Gallery photo album is updated, your website is updated automatically with the new content."*. In the case of my site viewers' uploads to my gallery, works OK, but +my site's pages do not show the new photos.+. Any way to better coordinate my .Mac Web galleries with my (also) .Mac Web Pages?
I hope this is clear enough. I have LOOKED for some more info/tutorial about iWeb/Web Galleries/Viewer photo uploads from my Web site, but have not founded anything specific.
    Thanks for any advice!
    - Roger Y

_*Thanks a lot, Wyodor for your detailed reply.*_
It just happens that I have gotten quite fond of the way iLife as a suite - along with its online (.Mac in my case) components) seem to keep a good, purposeful flow of things going.
So, indeed, as I am currently looking at the stuff on my .Mac site, Web GAllery and My Pages respective materials are not actually linked in terms, especially, of allowing Web Gallery albums' updates to "flow" into My Pages areas.
Too bad in a way! Unless I decide to use the Widget feature in iWeb to link my website photo pages specifically to Web Gallery albums - as suggested by Roddy. Currently I use iWeb template system - with Photo Pages and MyAlbums index.
    You stated:
+"Your iWeb page shows the tiny player with your dotMac Webgallery.+
+Click on the tiny player, and the full Web gallery opens."+
    Where is that button actually?
"Your iPhoto library will be update updated vice versa."
I'll have to check that out then!
    Thanks again!
