Linking Sales Packing Proposal to Production Orders

Hi,  I want to know if anyone has tried to use the packing proposal created in a Sales Order (VA01), to craete production orders.  In this scenario, the HU numbers in the sale packing proposal will drive the creation of production orders, rather than the sales order number.
In this scenario, the packages (HU packing #) is the unit of tracking through the logistic chain, rather than the sales order #.
If no one has done this before, does anyone have any suggestions.

Hi Jayesh!
I have once worked for an implementation, were the production (order) was identified by an internal unique number ('like today in the old system').
So we created this number and put them somehow in every document from sales order, production order, deliveries up to invoice.
The nearer we got to going live, the clearer it got: this number might be good in current system, but in SAP it's nearly worthless. All the time additional search helps where necessary, the runtime was poor, just trouble. So customer added step by step SAP's key numbers to printouts, because then an easy access was possible.
There is no document flow for a HU, but for a sales order - if you use SAP, then you will anyway track the sales order.
I guess, this has to be a learning process for you (and even more for your customer), too. So before you have a prototype and can show a process, I don't expect full understanding on your customers site, but you should try.
It's something about leading - in SAP sales order is leading, but physically the HU is handled in the production. Still production is just fullfilling the sales order demand.
It's maybe a question, how close production will be connected to SAP.
If it's just an external system, in goes SAP's order, out comes the product and SAP has to book a goods issue, then HU based production is OK.
If SAP's production order contains all the steps and this is really followed with confirmations to trigger the next step, then you should make the cut (which comes with SAP implementation) and stay with SAP's key fields.

Christian

  • Linking Sales Promotions to Statistical Internal Orders

We have two kinds of promotions here.
    a) Consumer Promotion - reduced price for a particular period
    b) Trade Promotion - Free goods - buy 10 get one free.
We are creating these promotion through standard SAP route with a validity period, and these get populated in the sales order order correctly.
The promotionional expenses are borne by the supplier (vendor). To debit his account with the appropriate expenses, we have created Statistical Internal orders (SIO) in CO, one per supplier account.
(We have developed a report where we accumulate all the values dueing these two above promotions and manually pass a JV in finance in the SIO.This is a long circuitous process and we are exploring other alternativesto make the values flow directly to the SIO)
If you double click on the sales order item, and proceed to Account Assignment tab, you will see an order no., where you can select the (SIO) no., which we are doing manually.
I am unable to find any place in configuration of Sales Promotion/Sales Deal/ SIO (definition) through which I can default the SIO no. in the sales order, so that the values can flow automatically.
    Please help if possible.
    Thanks & Regards

I think that this is not possible.

  • Issue with production order linked to quote instead of sales order

    Hi Gurus,
I did a lot of digging through SAP notes and accross the internet. Before I contact SAP, just wanted to give a shot @ SDN. Please help.
Background- for ATO (VC assemble to Order):
    i) Created a quote
ii) Created a sales order with reference to a quote
iii) MRP created a planned order and the planned order is linked to the quote
iV) Production order created and it is also linked to a quote
    v) All reports, MD04/COOIS shows that the plnd order/prd order is linked to the quote
My issue - print a shop paper or a customer specific product ID label....guess what 'it prints the quote number everywhere'.
Everything is tied to a quote - which is not a real demand. All purchase orders are tied to the quote. THIS IS STUPID.
I refered to SAP Notes - 181685 and 459734. But I need details of what config settings I should do and where?
I'm a pure PP guy, getting into SD requirement type & account assignement settings. Please help me with details.
    http://scn.sap.com/message/8018953#8018953
This guy also had the same problem and his issue was never resolved.
    Thanks,

    Hello
Take a look on the following note where this scenario is described:
16658 - Generate sales order stock based on quotation
The note proposes the following setting as a workaround to this issue:
"As of 3.0, when the requirements type is assigned to the transaction
during requirements type determination, it is possible to assign a
requirements type to the quotation that does not represent make-to-order
    production."
Therefore, please check your customizing settings and make sure that a requirement class/type (transactions OVZG and OVZI) without MTO is assigned to the quotation item category (transaction OVZI).
On transaction OVZI, there is a field called "Origin of requirement type in requirement type determination". Please take a look on the information provided on the F1 help of this field:
    ========================================================================
Origin of requirement type in requirement type determination
In the standard release, the requirements type is determined according
to a certain search strategy depending on the strategy group of the
    material.
In this field you can select an alternative search strategy (source):
Source 0 = Material master strategy, then item category and MRP type
Source 1 = Item type and MRP type strategy
Source 2 = Item type and MRP type strategy (as for source 1) with
additional check of the allowed requirements type
    ========================================================================
Therefore, my suggestion is to set this field to 1 for the quotation item category and assign an MTS requirement type on OVZI.

  • How to Find Out The Production Order Number For The Sales Order Line Items

I think it depends on your configuration. But check fields KDAUF and KDPOS in table AUFK.  or in table AFPO.

    Hello Friends,
    1) In DMS Object links tab ,for objects BOM header,BOM item,Production order fields are grey even though necessary settings are done. Is this standard or I am missing some config.
I did the similar settings for other objects like material master, vendor master, claim etc and I am able to assign these objects in Object links tab.
    2) In Production order I can assign the existing document but can't create document from Production order.I maintain value 1 in img Maintain screen for object link --> Auth.

  • Report for Production orders with name of Customers

    Dear Expert,
Kindly suggest to view the production orders with customer numbers for which the sales orders is created.
I tried in MB51 with layout settings but the customer number comes out be blank despite the sales order number is populated for an production order.
Kindly suggst a way or any report in the system  to get the corresponding information of production order number and corresponding customer name mentioned in the sales order .
Thanks in advance for your help and inputs..
    Best regards,
    Nitish jain

    Nitish,
MB51 is a Material Document list.  Many production orders exist that have no entries in this report, so it would be an unlikely candidate to be a solution for your requirement..
The standard production order reporting tool is COOIS.  The output for MTO orders can be configured to display Sales order and Item and Soldto.
Obviously, displaying even the customer order number in COOIS is impossible in a MTS scenario.
In addition, a user experienced in using SAP Query  (SQVI or SQ01/SQ02/SQ03) could also create a production order report without having to know ABAP, by properly linking tables AFKO, AUFK, AFPO (production order data) with VBAK (sales order header data) to get customer number, and KNA1 to get customer name..
If you are not expert in SAP Query, I suggest you discuss this requirement with a local ABAPer.
If you are feeling like educating yourself in the wonders of SAP query, try this doc.  Although old, SAP query hasn't changed very much since this document was written.

  • Make to order availability check scenario with production order

We have a make-to order scenario where we build custom products for our customers.
In SAP, we specify a strategy group so a production order is automatically generated when an sales order item is entered. However, we sometimes create a small amount of stock, in anticipation of an order. I would like the system to first check available stock in the system, beofre proposing a production order.
Is something like thi spossible thru configuration of the strategy group, or perhaps another method?
    Regards
    Ken

    Hi,
In SPRO->Sales and Distribution->Basic Functions->Availability Check and Transfer of Requirements->Availability Check->Availability Check with ATP Logic or Against Planning->Carry Out Control For Availability Check
Select the Availability check and the Checking rule  combination of intrest and if you select the details, here you define that stocks that are to be considered during availability check.

  • Production order without material

I am using Production order without material and without sales order in CO07. I want to derive profit center for this production order. What  is procedure to derive it?

    Hi Mayuresh,
We can settle the order against cost objects, cost center,  material,  order item, order,  sales document item, WBS element...
But Profit center is not a cost object so you can link the cost center in production order, Cost center can be linked with profit center so u can get the result in profit center also.

I think I understand what you are trying to achieve -> this sounds like you would want to do what SAP standard would do with KD/E-requirements (customer specific) = every material=item=position in a SD-order will create it's PR or production order. In the same way you want to generate one PR-item per production-order component - wait! - Maybe you want to create a single PR for every component in the production order???

You will have to talk to your MM/PP-functional ... if you do not have RESB-entries I have no idea how this process is setup. You probably do not have components in those production orders, only one header-material (CAUFVD-MATNR).  Depending on what is configured in the material-master MRP views + what modifications/enhancements are installed around the complete process, you could have almost any setup. It's impossible to say without seeing it. Make sure s/he explains to you exactly, since even with different stock-materials there could be different setups for procurement.

  • Cost center for Production Order

    Hi all,
We are now not able to get a report of Material consumption cost, Cost center wise. It is Because cost center is not linked to Production order or not linked to material issued to production order. Can we get the cost of material cosumption for  production order cost center wise. Please give us a solution.
    With Regards,
    R.Mahendiran.

    Hi,
Prod order is linked with controlling, for the direct costs like material cost linked with accounting view, costing view and secondary costs are linked with costing tab in work center and inturn workcenter is assigned to cost center, and for the prod order controlling part you will be assigned to the costing variant in transaction OPL8, if you remove this you can't get any reports.
    To understand the difference
201 - Goods issue against cost center. Means you create reservation through MB21 and do posting of cost directly at cost center.
261 - Goods issue to Production order. Means you create a reservation through Production order  and do posting of cost to Production order. When cost settlement of production order is done cost from production order will get transfered to cost center mentioned in settlement rule of production order.
    Hope this clarifies your doubt.

  • Manual Change Revision Level in Production Order

    Dear guru ,
The revision level in the production order (for material to be produced and for the component)  isn't manual changeable.
Does exist a chance for a manual change of revision level ?
    Thanks in advance.

    Dear Suresh ,
i know the link with ECM. In production order i can change the component revision level if i work with bom explosion date in read PP master data. But this solution isn't flexible. Imagine that i want to read PP master data with different explosion date for different component ...
Why in the purchase order the system allow a manual change of revision level and this chance doesn't exist in production order ?
    Thanks in advance.

  • How production order create in MTS scenario

Actually production order created based on Sales order, through MRP run(md02,04) , it will check the stock(avilability control), if it has less stock than sales it create the production order.
Based on demand planning , we want to start the production ,so how production order created, we need to create directly CO01, OR  any process is there

Actually production order created based on Sales order, through MRP run(md02,04) , it will check the stock(avilability control), if it has less stock than sales it create the production order.
I feel this is existing process of your client
Based on demand planning , we want to start the production ,so how production order created, we need to create directly CO01, OR  any process is there
    1) If you want to consider both MTS and sale order in production then maintain strategy group 40 in MRP 3 view
    2) Create a PIR ( plan) in MD61
    3) Run a MRP in MD02/MD01
    4) As a result of MRP, you will get a plan order
    5) convert the plan order into production order in MD04
