"Linking" slideshows?

Is there a way to link slideshows in iDVD?
We have a DVD that we'd like to burn that tells a story, each "chapter" is a slideshow. It'd be great to start at the beginning, hit "play" and have the whole thing go (i.e., from chapter to chapter), without going back to the Menu and choosing the next chapter?
Can this be done in iDVD, or does it have to be done in iMovie (a more laborious process)?
Thanks!

Gary:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. It can't be done in iDVD. You will have to do the project in iMoive, add chapter markers at each chapter markers and then import into iDVD. That will give you a playall button and a menu with each chapter listed. Just be sure not to put chapter markers at a transition, at the beginning or close together. See this The "Unofficial" iMovie FAQ page for details.
DVD Studio Pro might do the trick but that's a whole different area that I'm not familiar with.

  • Is there a way to combine or link slideshows?

Is there a way to link or combine slideshows within Aperature?   Is there a countdown tool, such as "15 minutes to next show."?
I have 3 slideshow productions that I would like to link putting a 15 minute interval in between with credits, etc.  How could this be accomplished?

You could combine the sideshows in Aperture by combining the three Albums the slideshows are in and create the credit loop as a separate sideshow  and combine that in but its going to be big and I don't think that is going to get you want you want.
You going to have to export the sideshows and do this external to Aperture.  Note sure off the top of my head the best way to go about this. Just combining the 3 shows is';t a problem but the 15 mins interval between each is a bit trickier. You could create a sideshow or movie that has the information you want to display and loop it to get the 15 min length and splice that in. It's possible you could have the three sideshows and credit loop separate and control the whole thing with an AppleScript or Automator script.

  • Linking slideshows to play sequentially in iDVD?

I'm trying to get all of my slideshows to play one after the other in a "play all" mode similar to playing all chapters of a movie at once. I'n not looking to loop just one slideshow.
Does anyone know how to link each slide show to the other so that once one is done, the next one will automatically start? Is this possible in iDVD? I have seen this feature in other software applications.

You can do it with DVD Studio Pro because it gives you all kinds of linking options, but that's an expensive solution.
iDVD has a lot of simplifying assumptions built-in - especially on linking.
You could put all your slides in one iPhoto movie and then add chapter marks to jump to different parts of the slideshow.

  • Export from iDVD to link slideshows

New to working with DVD projects and may have made error in creating slideshows for upcoming event. I have now made several slideshows within iDVD by getting individual photos from iPhoto (and other locations) and audio tracks from garage band. It looks pretty good actually and I have burned a trial DVD. Each slideshow plays well with the audio, however at the end of each it returns to main menu. My desire would be a one click play from the main menu but now I'm not able to link all the slideshows together.
Reading previous posts looks like it would have been better to develop slideshows IN iphoto or imovie and then import to iDVD. Nevertheless - this is wher I'm at. Questions:
    1) Can I export the individual slideshows to iMovie or QT and then splice together and then put back in iDVD (or something to that effect).
    2) If I make one slideshow within iDVD am I able to make sure the audio tracks stay with the appropriate slides or will it "blend it all together" and add the audio tracks/adjust slide transitions.
By the way, it works OK as, it just requires menu selection at the end of each set of slides. This is really a "fine tuning" couple of questions and I'll know better next time.
    thanks

Yup, it would have been easier in iPhoto or iMovie. The only way I know to "export" from iDVD is to actually create the DVD (or disk image) and then extract the slideshows. But there's a fair learning curve for that process and a loss of video quality unless you use Roxio Toast, or something similar, to put the project back together on DVD.
I'd live with your current DVD, or use iPhoto.

  • What is the best third party extension or software to create a flip book with zoom and clear text?

When I export a swf from Indesign with Page curl, the text is hard to read (blurry) and there is no zoom feature or navigation bar. Is there a specific software I should download instead of exporting from Indesign.

Well there´s plenty of solutions for that, which one is correct depends on what kind of content you wish to have. And you should also note that SWF/Flash based solutions are not compatible with mobile/tablet devices. Anyway if you
-need a solution for passive print replica content, you will find lot´s of different services and softwares which are able to convert your PDF to Flash/SWF. You can´t usually use any interactive elements or rich media in those cases.
-need to make your SWF with InDesign and you want to use videos, links, slideshows etc. Then you need a 3rd party finalizer which you can use to wrap your InDesign SWF to better working user interface. One solution is eDocker FLASH! Here´s a sample of InDesign SWF finalized with eDocker: http://old.edocker.com/_demo/edocker-online-demo/index.html
More info about the product: http://www.edocker.com/edocker/edocker-flash/ or eDocker :: eDocker2 Desktop Publisher®
I think eDocker FLASH! is in some kind of 50% discount right now.
-need to make publicaton that works with computer and mobile/tablets. Then you may have to drop Flash and check out HTML5 solutions. Some of the more advanced flip-page services are offering also conversion to HTML5 but be careful if you need interactive elements and/or rich media, most of them are ripping all that off.  At least eDocker and 3dIssue are offering HTML5-solutions with possibility to use interactivity/rich media...

  • DVD's not burning

    Hi,
Some months ago I created a slidshow DVD using iDVD and the reflection white template. It came out very nice and burned perfectly. After some reviews I decided to lengthen the time between photos by adding another song.
The problem is when I go to record it now, only half the slideshow gets burned....
When I play it in a dvd player it abruptly stops 8 minutes in, it doesnt even skip back to the main title page...
I have tried burning several times, I have even completely started from scratch.
I am so frustrated I threw a few of the bad dvds against the wall. My mac is next....
Please, any help or suggestions at all are appreciated.
    Adam

For some reason it does not want to burn the last 100 photos in the slidshow...
    Ahh......
Images in a slideshow are treated as 'Chapters' and the slideshow as a 'Track'. You are limited to 99 Chapters in a Track. Prior to iDVD 6, all iDVD slideshows were limited to 99 images.
Apple created something of a "hack' in iDVD 6 that makes it possible to link slideshow Tracks together, creating slideshows of over 99 images.
The problem is, most/many set top DVD players don't like the hack. At the 100th image, many will stop, others will pause, some will drop the audio, and a FEW players will play throught the 100th image with no problems.
The ONLY sure way of creating a slideshow of over 99 images that will play in all DVD players is to create it as a movie in iPhoto or iMovie (or Photo to Movie or FotoMagico).
Sorry, but that's the way it is.

  • Can you put a link in a Slideshow for muse?

I'm making my images for my muse homepage main slideshow in photoshop.
How can I create a link on a slideshow image, without it appearing on top of all the other pictures through the slideshow?
    Thankyou,
    KM

By creating a link, I believe you want to hyperlink image where users when click on the image should be directed to linked page ?
You can select the hero image in slideshow and then insert link via hyperlink.
If you are referring to a text showing link with image then you would need to use a composition and insert text in container along with image.
    Thanks,

  • When making a slideshow in iPhoto some iTunes files can no longer be found (cannot find link). How can I relink iphoto to the moved itunes files?

    Hello everyone :-)
I am Using Iphoto 09 ver 8.1.2 & itunes ver. 10.2.2 in this situation.
I have recently moved my iphoto library & Itunes library files to a large external hard drive.
I have successfully set the computer to read / run both libraries from the hard drive & they are working well as a stand alone. ( I Have done this before)
Unforntualey this time I foolishly moved some itunes album folders around from compulations / various artists into the main media file before checking into what the ramifications would be.
After searching on here I learned that was not advised as itunes would not be able to automaticly find them since I moved them.
In itunes clicked on some of the exclamtion marks of the songs that I moved & linked them up to the main media folder so they could be now found by itunes. I believe itunes asked to look there in that location for all missing files & I selected that option.
It appears to have worked as when I click on them in itunes they now play.. yeah!
But now I am finding that when I try to add certain songs for slideshows in iphoto & imovie that those moved songs cannot be found by those programs :-(
( I assume the same would be true for iDVD)
So my questions are... Is there now a way to have those other programs find the moved songs?
I do have a older backup of my itunes media & I can try & move the album folders back to the original place they where by comparing the two but it is a very large library of 40k songs... so I thought to ask the knowledge & wisdom of the community before I attempted any further fixes.
It would take a bit of time but it could be done & I don't want to just use the older copy of my itunes as I have made many additions of albums to the library & added allot of album artwork as well. (Stuff that "itunes" & "tune up" couldn't automatically find)
Thanks in advance for any advice on this silly mistake I made.
    Sal

Try the following:  delete the iPhoto preference file, <b><i><font color="maroon">com.apple.iPhoto.plist</font></i></b>, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
Also delete the com.apple.iApps.plist file from the same Preferences folder.  Then launch iTunes and then iPhoto.  See if that will restore the links.

  • Href links in slideshow not working

    hi,
I have created a non-flash slideshow with WOW Slider which I find to be a very good program and is jquery based.
the actual slideshow runs fine on iPad, my PC - and Android devices,
    but:
the six slides have links embedded to other websites, that I have set up to run in a new window, and work fine on PC & Andoid
but on the iPad the outbound links do not work - yet an href link will work on the iPad if called from a static image.

whilst what I have resorted to is quite basic, it gets the job done - particularly given my age and what I am hoping to achieve with my site.

  • Linking an image from one page to an image within a slideshow on another page.

I would like to link an image on my home page with an image within a slideshow on another page of my website. I can create the link, but when I click on the link, instead of taking me to the image within the slideshow, it takes me to the first image of the slideshow which I don't want. Is there a way to link to an image "within" the slideshow and not the first image?

    Hi
You can create pages with specific images and then use link of images which will open the page with that specific image, link images within slideshow to show exact image within would not be possible with native Muse feature as by default slideshow will open the first image in target.
    Thanks,

  • How do I go from a link to a specific image in a slideshow?

    I have a two-part question.
    1. How do I go from a link to a specific image in a slideshow? If you take a look at the attached screenshot, here's what I'd like to accomplish. I wan to click on a link like B for examply at the top of the page. It scrolls down the page to ANCHOR "b" where I have a slide show. Once it scrolls down, I would like to have the slideshow to slide over to the image set that matches the link that was clicked. in this case, if i click on B at the top, the slideshow would slide to image set "B".
    2. Each piece of work I want to display has three images. One which is our main image seen inside the black outlined box below. There are however two additional images tied to each piece being shown. What is the best way to set this up? The default way of using the slideshow is limiting.

Unfortunately I don't have an answer for you as I have the same problem!
I want to link images on one page to certain slides on another.
Have you had any luck solving this?
I've spent hours looking for a solution... I'm very frustrated!!!
Will post again if I get some answers.
    Best of luck
    David
David, as of right now there is no way to click a link and have it go to a speficic image inside of a slideshow on another page. It will only show the first image in the slideshow on that other page.
So, perhaps you could just have the image you want to jump to on the other page, be the first image in the slide show. Make sense?

  • How can i link a text to a photo into a slideshow?

hello, need some help please! i want to link a text to a specified photo into a slideshow, another word to another photo and so on...I've tried any slideshow, and composition with anchor points and it doesn't work. How can i realize that please?

There's no support within Muse to cause click on a word within a flow of text to result in a slideshow turning to a specific image.
A composition widget can be used to have clicking on or rolling over a trigger object cause a target container to appear.

  • Links to slideshow stopped working on non .mac published site

I was helping my friend redo his website in iWeb. It was previously done in iWeb, and worked fine when published to a folder and uploaded to his verizon account.
Today, when we exported and upload none of the links on the photo gallery pages worked. Clicking a photo to enlarge it found a broken link, and the slide show stopped working too.
I thought I forgot to do something, so I uploaded the old version of the site. That stopped working, too.
    Am I missing something?

The Apple slideshow (the one built-in to iWeb) using the photo template is supposedly one of the ".Mac-only" features of iWeb. It uses some resources off the .Mac servers, so it probably won't work when the pages are hosted on other non-.Mac servers.
