Linking Template and non Template pages

So here is the problem I am trying to link my template pages to some pages I based off of them and saved as a different name. Now I can't get them to work I type the links the right way and everything, but when I click them they do nothing. Can anyone help?

Hi Liam, thanks for your help. Let me try to be a little clearer: I have used a Dreamweaver template to design my new site, I have changed up each page as my own with updated content. When I try to go back and link the pages that are not named the same as the original Dreamweaver template, I can not get it to work or link those pages. Basically the only pages that are working are pages linked to outside websites (ex. "search" linked to google.com,  that works fine).
So what is odd to me, if I leave the page named the same as it labeled on the template it works fine, (ex. three column, when left as three column title it does work fine). However, if I take that page and rename it (ex. three column, and rename it "Contact Me" it will not work). I can see the pages labeled but they are not active or live.
I do not know if the issue is because of using a template or what I am doing wrong. I have not included {tag_pagecontent} because I did not see if listed anywhere on my template. So I do need to add this? On each page?
Thanks again for your help and any other suggestions would be great.

  • Difference between automatic and non-automatic page attributes

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me difference between automatic page attributes and non-automatic page attributes?
and also difference between stateful and stateless mode with examples?
    Thanks
    Narendra

    Hi Mullapudi,
If you mark a page attribute as u2018automaticu2019 (auto in the system), the attribute automatically gets its values via the calling URL or
via the navigation process from other pages.
This kind of attribute only has to be declared for one page.
It is identified by its name equivalence.
If another page uses a parameter with the same name,
    at runtime that parameter automatically
gets the same values as the attribute.
    Non-automatic page attributes
If you flag a page attribute as non-automatic, the attribute gets its values from the class attribute.
The visibility of page attributes when parameters are transferred between BSP pages depends on whether the navigation is explicit or implicit.
    Explicit navigation
    For example, if navigation->goto_page(page.htm)
    Implicit navigation
With implicit navigation, the page attributes are transferred automatically from OnInputProcessing to OnInitialization, both in stateful and stateless mode.
The auto page attributes are refilled by the request, both in stateful and stateless mode.
    Reward if Useful...

  • Tip: How to link to a non-iWeb page in the main navigation menu.

I've figured out an easy way to add a link to the main navigation menu which links to a URL of your choosing. For example, I have an older .Mac site using the now archaic HomePage. Instead of rebuilding all of my old pages in iWeb, I thought it would be nice to add a link to the old site from the top main navigation of the iWeb pages. Sounds easy, right? Apparently Apple has other ideas as iWeb doesn't allow you to do this.
    Here's a work-a-round:
Step 1.) Open iWeb and add a new page to your iWeb site. Pick any template, it doesn't matter which one.
Step 2.) Change the page name to whatever you want using the page inspector. Whatever you choose as a name here will be reflected in the main navigation menu. For example, I named my page "Photo Archives".
Step 3.) You don't need to edit this new page at all. In fact, we're going to erase all of the content in it later. Now publish your site.
Step 4.) If you're using .Mac, mount your iDisk to your desktop. Then navigate through the folders to: Web -> Sites -> iWeb -> <Your Site Name>. If you're hosting your site somewhere else, navigate to your root directory.
Step 5.) You should now be looking at all of the files which make up your iWeb site. Open the dummy page we created in Step 2 in a text editor. I used BBEdit, but TextEdit (see note below) will work just fine. For example, my dummy page is named "Photo Archives.html".
Note: If you're going to use TextEdit, you need to select the checkbox "Ignore rich-text commands in HTML files" from the Open & Save pane of the Preferences dialog PRIOR to opening the file from your iDisk.
Step 6.) Select all of the text (Command-A) and Delete.
Step 7.) Paste the following text, substituting the URL you want to link to.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"><html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><head><title></title><meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;url=http://www.mydomain.com/mypage.html" /></head><body></body></html>
Step 8.) Save the file. You're done! You now have a link in the main navigation which goes to any URL you want.

    Hi,
I'm OK to step seven but in your example can you highlight or make bold the "url address part " I'm to replace with my own?
    Thanks!
Step 6.) Select all of the text (Command-A) and
    Delete.
Step 7.) Paste the following text, substituting the
URL you want to link to.
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><!DOCTYPE html

  • Linking to a non-flash page

I can't quite figure out how to do this... Seems simple
enough. All I want to do is create a link within my .swf file that
will take me to a new web page in the same browser window (without
opening a new window or tab) -- essentially the way a normal link
    works in html.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
    here's the secret:
    on(release)
{ getURL("url") } - to open on the same page
    and
getURL("url", "_blank") - to open on another page
    *url =
    http://www.sitename.com
    or
    *url=http://www.sitename.com//index.php (.html, etc)

  • Can I have both facing and non-facing pages in a document?

I am trying to assemble a booklet with 11x17 spreads - some of these will be two facing 8.5x11 pages, but others will be a single 11x17 image, and would be better to treat them as a one page spread. We will be producing a hardcopy and an electronic version. The hastily sketched image below shows what I'm looking for. In the PDF version, the pages would be oriented as shown. In the booklet, the large images would be rotated to fit into the 8.5x11 booklet and viewed centerfold style.
Is this a thing I can accomplish in one InDesign document, or will I need to produce separate versions for the digital & print editions?
    Thanks!!

For the print version I would set up as an ordinary 8.5 x 11 facing pages file, and rotate the spread view for the pages that you need to see as 11 x 17 verticals, but you're going to need a second PDF for  the electronic version if you want to export spreads. I'd give exporting as PDF (Interactive) a try -- spreads is the default, and rotate the occasional page in Acrobat before distribution. That will give you spreads for everything, though, so if you want to have individual 8.5 x 11 pages, you'll need to export multiple PDFs, specifying ranges, with spreads selected or deselected, then combine them all into a single PDF in Acrobat for distribution.

  • Multiples galleries linked to and from one page

This is pretty basic need for photographers trying to show shoots to clients.
I have multiple shoots associated with one job for one client. Can anyone ( ahem Apple guys) put a feature into the Aperture Web Gallery workflow that will put an index page for all the different parts of one job?

    Hello, Larry
Quote: "I have multiple shoots associated with one job for one client. Can anyone ( ahem Apple guys) put a feature into the Aperture Web Gallery workflow that will put an index page for all the different parts of one job?"
If I understand you correctly, you want different Index.htmls for the different shoots you did for the client? So, one index.html for one shoot which multiple photos? Another, index.html for a different shoot but the same client? But all in location in one site?
If so, Aperture rocks doing this now since version 1.
I do this using the Web Journal (and not the Web Gallery) feature in Aperture which will make different index.htmls for different days, shoots, whatever.
    Here is an example:
Multiple shoots and multiple indexes but only one site.
As you can see there are 3 different index.htmls, and each with it's own set of photographs with watermarks which can be clicked on to enlarge.
You can rename each index according to your shoots, watermark them and upload them for the client to see at his or her leisure.

  • Calling portal framework page from non portal page

    Hi,
We are having some difficulty in passing control from the non portal pages to
    the Portal Pages.
To explain you more elaborately, I am writing down the scenario:
Both our portal and non portal pages reside under the same web application folder.
We have a Portal Page containing one portlet.Clicking on one of the hyperlink
on this portlet page takes us out of the portal environment where we are doing
    some processing.
(Why we are going out of the portal environment is because we want to call the
existing pages as it is and our intention is not to make the existing pages portal
    enabled to start with).
Somewhere down the journey on the non portal page, there is a requirement to call
    the Portal Framework page.
We can call the portal Framework page from the non portal page by hard coding
the URL of the Portal page by writing something like this in href:
    http://localhost:7501/application?origin=content.jsp&event=bea.portal.framework.internal.portlet.event&pageid=home&portletid=bachome_carsearchlink&wfevent=link.next
But this is not what we want. We want to call the portal page without hard coding
    the URL.
If we use portlet tag in non portal page to call the Portal Framework page ( <a
    href="<portlet:createWebflowURL event="link.next"/>">Next Page</a>), it throws
us error "Could not find current Portlet State" which is quite understandable,
because portlet state is now lost.
Is there any way we can achieve this .
    Any suggestions or ideas?

    Hi
i think you should use portal:createPortalPageChangeURL (you are effectively changing
    your portal page) .
if you want to invoke a specific event in your portlet webflow you can either
write a RefreshControllerIP or use WebflowJSPHelper.createWebflowURL.
bear in mind if you have urls that directly go to an intermediate event in the
    portlets webflow you may need

  • BP for "Non Portlet" pages

What is the best practice for organizing pages (static or dynamic) that are not
portlet pages? For instance, "Contact Us" type pages that we want to be 'in the
portal' but not necessarily as a portlet? do they necessarily need a webflow?
what is contactUs.jsp posts to processContact.jsp?
    thanks

We had the same issue. Had non-portal pages that we wanted the same header/footer/leftnav/stylesheets
    of the general page.
you can do something like this:
    1. Create a new portal page in ebcc...call it general or something.
    2. Create a layout that is just a 1x1 table. This will store only one portlet
that takes up the entire page (except for the header, etc).
    3. Create a portlet that will go in the new layout. Create a simple JSP (call
it general.jsp) that goes in the portlet.
    4. This new general.jsp can take a single param that is the real jsp it should
render. The general.jsp can just forward to the real jsp.
links to these non-portlet pages are now just change portal page calls that pass
an extra arg that is the JSP to render.
    that's just one suggestion.

Well, if you're just getting into Portal, use 7.0. WF is much more stable
    with
this version. You can structure it any way you want, we have
    /sampleportal
    /sampleportal/portlets
    /sampleportal/portlets/portlet1
    /sampleportal/portlets/notportlet2
    /sampleportal/common
    /sampleportal/framework
    That sort of thing.
Basically for anything that's NOT on the front portal page, you do yourself.
Layout, look/feel, the whole shebang. We include /framework/header.jsp
    in our
non-portlets just to have the same header across all pages.

i'm really interested in where you keep the files and how you manage

  • ICan you create and link Templates in DWCS4 after all the pages are built as HTML?

I used Dreamweaver CS4 to create a website(about 50 pages).  Only after completing it did it occur to me that I should have made the pages using Templates .  There are certain areas (footer, navbar, header) that will need to be globally updated occationally, but since none of the pages were built off a .DWT am I out of luck?  Is there any way to create templatized pages from my existing HTML and have them LINK so they will globally update?   The thought of going through and doing each of these over individually is daunting!

That's called putting the cart way ahead of the horse.  You would need to build a Template first, then spawn child pages from that Template.  Since you're already up to your neck in this project,  consider using server-side includes instead of Templates.

  • I applied a template to a page with SWFs and now that page does not play the SWFs. Why?

I applied a template to a page with SWFs and now that page does not play the SWFs (just a blank area where the SWF should be). When I detach the template it will play the flash file. This site will eventually be updated via Adobe Contribute. And I just discovered that when applying a template to a page that uses HTML datasets (Master/Detail),it no longer reads the Master/detail regions and displays a blank. Any thoughts?
[Moved to Dreamweaver forum by moderator]

Firstly, you shouldn't really 'apply' a template to a page, you should create a child page by going to FILE>NEW>Page from Template.  Too many things can happen when applying a template the way you are doing it. eg:; editable and non-editable regions not matching up and being asked where to place these regions and in all likelihood, you end up with 2 or more of the same region.
When a swf file is inserted into a page, a corresponding Scripts folder is written automatically is stored in the root of the site - it is also linked to in the head of the document. What I believe is happening is that when you apply a template to the page, the Template has no idea that there is a swf file on the page and is not aware of the correct link to the Scripts folder.  If you do a test and add the swf file to the template page itself, I bet that the links to the swf and the scripts folder are correct - because DW knows the correct path to the script file.   Hence the reason the page probably works when you detach it from a template.

  • Issue with templates and updating .html pages in my website

    Hello,
I have taken over updating a website for the charity I work for. I have updated some eleements of the .dwt template page, however it does not seem to be updating the other .html pages for the website. I do not get the update pages box just a box saying 'You placed the editable region "breadcrumbs" inside a block tag. Users of this template will not be able to create new blocks in this region. Move the region outside the block tag if you want users to be able to do this" - I click OK and it saves the .dwt page, but does not update any other .html pages.

This means that you are entering the links manually, not
    using the Property
inspector and browsing to the target file. You should do it
    this way until
you understand how templates work. All links in a template
    file should
(usually) be one of three kinds -
    1. Document relative BASED ON THE TEMPLATE, e.g.,
    <a href="../whatever....
    2. Root relative, e.g.,
    <a href="/whatever....
    3. Absolute, e.g.,
    <a href=''
    http://www.example.com/whatever....
Anything else will always result in the Template folder being
    placed in the
path for the link when you create a child page.

    Yes, of course.

This could easily be one of your problems. Those menus are
    definitely
broken and should never be used.

How can I add a new Template to My Templates in Pages? I've read most of the discussions on the subject but it doesn't work for me. By the time I reach the Templates folder, I only see templates for Numbers and not for Pages. Need help, please.  Thanks

Si vous avez utilisé la commande Save As Template depuis Pages, il y a forcément un dossier
    iWork > Pages
    contenant Templates > My Templates
comme il y a un dossier
    iWork > Numbers
    contenant Templates > My Templates

  • Allow "Signing" and "Creation of Template Pages" in Reader XI

    Hi.
I have created a form in Adobe Pro XI that allows the (Reader XI) user to insert additional templates pages by clicking "button X".  The form also provides the user a Digital Signature field to sign the document.
In order for the user to be able to use the Digital Signature field the file must be saved as a "Reader Extended PDF" with the "Enable More Tools" option.  This however, disables the addional templates option.
Is there a way to allow for both "Signing" and "Creation of Template Pages" in a Reader document?
    Thanks

Thanks GKaiseril.  While I was hoping for some sort of option choice or Javascript I feared that would be the resonse.

  • Document Assembly and Creation of Template Pages?

What do “document assembly” and “creation of template pages” mean?
I am a print graphic designer who usually handles the printing for a particular client who does long reports. I also give them a low resolution PDF for email circulation and posting on their website. They are now want to use the PDF for other purposes such as creating PowerPoint presentations that they will do in house. Therefore they have asked me to unlock all the security options -- that quite frankly I never even dealt with. Specifically they want to “allow document assembly, commenting, signing, and creation of template pages.” Assembly, commenting and signing seem innocuous, but will document assembly and template pages have significance for me as a graphic designer? I'm not sure what these two functions are.

“document assembly” means the combination of documents.
