Linking to a page in another pdf

Using ID, is it possible to create a pdf that will have a link to a specific page in another pdf?

Indeed it is
Select your text and open the hyperlink panel (Window>Interactive>Hyperlinks)
In the Hyperlink Window in the panel insert the location of the PDF on the internet (copying the url is usually the best way)
For example:
http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/products/indesign/pdfs/creating-accessible-pdf-d ocumentw-with-adobe-indesign-cs6-v3.pdf
If you suffix the link with
#page=3
It will open on that page!
http://www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/products/indesign/pdfs/creating-accessible-pdf-d ocumentw-with-adobe-indesign-cs6-v3.pdf#page=3

I'd like to create a link within a PDF to a specific page in a different PDF. As far as I can tell, the Create Link tool will only allow me to open another PDF on page 1. I know you can link to another page in the current PDF, but I need to link to a separate PDF. I have also found info on mechanisms for opening to different pages, but these are for opening using browsers or code.
So, is it possible to link create a link in a PDF to a specific page in another PDF?

Try this...
You can link to a specific page in a specific PDF from a bookmark. You navigate to the new view (page of a PDF) when creating the bookmark.
When you want to do that with a link (as in selected text in the body of the PDF) you have to do it in two steps. Use any file open to create the link, then edit the properties of the link, select the Action tab, and change the action to Go To A Page View.
That's how it works in Acrobat 8, but I'm betting it's the same in 7.

Generalizing the return page number when linking to a page in another app

Hello.
I know how to link to a page in another app within the same workspace. However, my problem arises when the user tries to go back to the page in the first app.
Is there a way to "generalize" the "return path". I do not want to hard-code the return page number within a "back link" element on the target page. I was wondering if there is some sort of substitution string I can use in the return http address that automatically "knows" what the returning page number is. Hope I'm making sense here.

Apex standard tabs do submit the page and fire after-submit computations defined on the calling page before branching to the "current" page for the tab you click on.

Linking to a page in another page group

Can someone tell me whether it is possible to create a link to a page in another page group? If yes, how?

Here is what I have done to get around this. It appears to work with a quick test. Let's say that on a page in page group B I want to navigate to pages in page group A. In page group A I create a navigation page with my links - lists of objects, page links, etc. As noted in the discussion I can only add pages from page group A to this list. Then I publish this page as a portlet. On my page in page group B I add a small (narrow) portlet region and add my page group A navigation portlet with the page links to it.
The limitation to this approach is that I cannot mix links from different page groups in my portlet, but if I needed this effect I can always make a series of little navigation pages from different page groups and intersperse them as portlets on my page group B page.

Acrobat X Pro makes text disappear from a page when I insert that page into another PDF

I printed a single page Microsoft Project schedule to PDF using Acrobat X Pro. All good. I then inserted that one page into another PDF document using Tools/Insert Pages/Insert from File. Much of the text in the inserted page goes missing after inserting that page into the other PDF document. How do I prevent this disappearing text problem?

Does the inserted page have a lot of markup? I do not think the markup will insert.

I would like to know this too. I found this link on OTN that discusses the same issue and mentions a bug in 902, but cannot find this bug referenced on Metalink.

Link to a chapter of another pdf document

I want to insert links from a pdf document to a section or chapter of a different pdf document. ¿How can I do this? (The documents are done with Word and then passed to pdf)

The documents are originally done with word and then passed to pdf. I have been able to insert links to a page number. I did this by putting the document in a web server and using a link similar to this (to link to page 2):

I read that to link to a named destination you could use links of the type:
http://domayname/doc1.pdf#nameddest=destinationname
or:
http://domayname/doc1.pdf#destinationname
But this does not work for me.
Perhaps the problem is that where I am trying to link it is not even a named destination. What I have is a word document with headings for the different chapters and I want to convert them to pdf and link to those headings. I don’t know if the headings are converted to named destinations.
I am using Word 2010 (which saves the documents as pdf) and Adobe Reader and, If possible I, would like to do this without any extra tool unless it is free.

i have 5 applications based on same schema in a single workspace. now i intent to have a single page with 5 button from where i will call all those 5 applications' home pages.
i used following syntax for URL Target on a button to check it but it didnt work.

i can very easily to a page in same application (offcourse) but i want to ask that can we link to a page which is in another application in same workspace

Problem while opening a link of a PDF that points to a specific page to another PDF

PDF links whose URIs include backslashes are interpreted by Acrobat Reader browser plug-in as local file-system links even when they are not. This means that a link that points to a specific page number will open the file but not automatically jump to the desired page . In our browser-based viewing tool, this means that the links are perceived as not working.
for example : from IE Browser When we tried to open the link in PDF 1 which has the URL of the 5th section of PDF2 and the URL includes the backslashes then the Specific section of PDF2 is not getting opened . The link just opens the PDF2 first page. This Specific problem does not arrives if we try to open the link through Adobe Reader or if the URL mentioned in the PDF is formed using forwordslashes instead of backslashes.

InDesign Link to specific page in a .pdf file

I have an article index that I keep in InDesign. Each item in the index points to a specific page in a separate .pdf file. Is there a way, in InDesign, to create a link that will open the .pdf file to a specific page? The InDesign file contains buttons and is exported to an interactive .pdf file. For example, I may have an article from volume one, page two. In the interactive index, I would like the user to be able to click on this link and open newsletter volume one and jump to page two. I have never found a way to do this in InDesign and currently have to create the text portion of the index in InDesign, export it to an interactive .pdf file and then create all of the links directly in Acrobat Professional. This is very time consuming because whenever I need to update the index, I need to re-export to a new interactive .pdf file and recreate ALL of the links in Acrobat. There should be a way to do this in InDesign.

There SHOULD be a way, yes. But there is none. It's not about Indesign, it's the PDF and handling of action like "Open file".
I tried button actions like "Open file" in Indesign, but you only select the file name and path, nothing else.
If you do the same in Acrobat, by putting an action "Open file" for a hyperlink, it will be the same.
The only thing that works is to use an URL like http://www.yourdomain.com/yourfile.pdf#page=3, where #page=3 can do what you want. You could even place that URL in Indesign or Acrobat, but the PDF would a) open in a browser and b) the PDF reader will always pop up that requester before opening internet links and c) the file would have to be on the internet.
Perhaps Acrobat Javascript could do more here, but then you'd have to embed it somehow in Acrobat (I wouldn't know if Indesign can do that) and Javascript would have to be allowed for that PDF. Not a good choice.

Inserting PDF page between another PDF file with x amount of pages

Tried to do it in InDesign, got it to work, but it crashes and messes things up and takes an age to export the PDF.

I just tried it for the rtf format, and it works the same as with pdf. The report still gives it 400 some pages, while it creates only 225 files.
Is it keeping last 225 files or first 225?It keeps the first 225. Then it stops creating the rest of the files.
