Linking to a youtube video

I have tried searching the Dw help, youtube site and
elsewhere on
google - but still can't find what I want.
how do you embed a youtube video -
What i am trying to do is to link to a you tube video - where
you have
a static image on the screen - with the right arrow on to of
the image
- which if clicked streams the video from the youtube site
without
having to directly go to the youtube site
I know you can easily have the you tube video url link - but
that is
not the same.............

Hi
Just go to youtube and find the video you want to place on
your site, on
the right you will see some code under Embed like below:
<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie"
value="
http://www.youtube.com/v/VKQqItZu4Is&rel=XXXXX"></param><param
name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed
src="
http://www.youtube.com/v/WWWWWWW=1"
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent"
width="425"
height="355"></embed></object>
Just copy and paste this code into your HTML.
Kind Regards

    Hi,
Could you please provide the complete error message you'e received here, or share a screenshot here if possible?
As per your description, seems it's a security setting in your Office client. By default, Office will prompt security alerts about links to suspicious websites.
Maybe you can try to turn this detection off and check result. Please note that we do not recommend this as this will increase your security risk. Please carefully consider the risks, before making any Trust Center settings changes:

  • For whatever reason I can't get a link to a youtube video to work no matter what, other URLs work fine

Title says it all really. I have an image button on my website, and when clicked should link to a youtube video. However, no matter what, I always get www.mywebsite.com/www.youtube...etc. And yes I know you need http:// in there or something to get it to work. I've tried every variation of the youtube link, including the shortened one it gives when you click the share icon. But no matter what, I get the same result. I've tried deleting the whole thing and starting from scratch too. I have other images that link to other websites, and those all work fine. It's just this youtube one. I've even tried copying one of those, changing the image, and posting the link there. Nothing.
Maybe I'm just missing something. I'm not the most experienced person with the software, so bear with me. I'm using CS5.5. Let me know if there's anymore info I can provide to help.
    Thanks!

If your website host has a caching engine turned on, you might not be able to see the most recent version of your page right away. If I remove https:// from your link, I can replicate your results. Have you tried saving your page with a different name, and uploading that as a test?
If you mouse over the two graphics in the following link, you can see that the one on the left will add my website link to the URL, while the one on the right works as expected: Link Test

  • How do I send a link to a youtube video in text message? The youtube app doesnt provide URLs that I can copy & paste...

My friend has a blackberry and sends links to youtube videos to me all the time, in text messages, that I can watch easily. I could not figure out how to send him links to youtube videos. The youtube app doesnt provide a URL I can copy and paste into the text message and going to youtube through web browser just defaults it back to the (URL-less) app.
I cant be the first person totally stumped by this.
Its either not possible or crazy simple and I just havent drank the apple kool-aid enough yet...

  • Problems linking to a youtube video within InDesign. Why oh why?

I have followed the instructions as given in this video tutorial:
    http://blogs.adobe.com/jlockman/2013/06/04/embedding-youtube-videos-into-your-dps-project/
and my youtube video (with the youtube embed code inserted - https: added) plays in the preview but when I export it to a pdf all I get is a black box with no controls and clicking anywhere within it does nothing.
    What's happening?

Ok, thanks. I gave up and am just going to create a button that links to the youtube website where my video is located. Don't know why Adobe doesn't allow for youtube videos to be embedded (as in a youtube link) in pdfs.

  • Could I link my existing youtube videos (or Facebook, Myspace, Vimeo, Flickr duplicates) in a field somewhere and link to them (after initially submitting a podcast feed URL)?

I've found podbean.com, and will explore podomatic.com, for submitting video podcasts to the iTunes Directory. But now that I've found these RSS feed URL generators (and will look for others) is there a way within these websites or in blogs to link to my existing videos on Facebook, for example, and the video appear in the iTunes Store?

I'm afraid not - please see my response to your post in the other thread.

  • My website doesn't open/start youtube video, after link clicked. In Firefox only.

On my Joomla project (running under xampp local host) has a link to a youtube video, which worked fine, but not anymore. After clicking it, the resized pop-up window (java script) doesn't open the video. Window remains black and status beam at the window botttom shows 'ready'.
This problem wasn't there in former Firefox releases (3.6.. now) and doesn't occur in ms-IE, Safari and other browsers.
Please let some one fix this.

  • How to link to a non-youtube video

I'm having great difficulty linking to a video....a Non-youtube video. I have a video on another platform that has html embed codes, but they don't seem to be working in Acrobat. Does Adobe not allow linking to non-youtube videos? What are the parameters acrobat needs in order to display a non-youtube linked video?
btw: I know I can embed the video in the doc, but that is not what I need. I want to link to the video from a location on the internet (CDN).

If you are linking to a video, why would the format matter? You're  linking to a video player elsewher. It would be using a flash player  most likely.
As Steve says above, you should use the Video Tool to draw a rectangle on the page where you want the video to appear, and in the dialog window that opens, enter the fully-qualified URL into the "Browse" field. The URL must end in a valid extension type for video that can be played by Flash Player (such as .FLV or .MP4) and you should link to the video file itself rather than the web page of the player application. If you have a video on a dynamic URL so there isn't an extension at the end, you'll need to re-craft the URL to add one, for example by passing a dummy variable.
If for example there's a video in FLV format delivered from a url
    http://www.notarealwebsite.web/player?video=1234
then to get the Add Video tool to accept it, you'll have to enter something like
    http://www.notarealwebsite.web/player?video=1234&somevariable=.FLV

  • YouTube Video in Specific Spot CS6

    Hello,
I want to link a specific youtube video to a spot I have designated in dreamweaver for it. I do not want to embed the video and put into the code, unless I can make it go into this one spot.
    Please help!
    Thanks.

The easiest way is to create a DIV or <section> and then embed the code (or whatever you call this process) within it.  The div or section is created at a particular spot of your choosing.  now this is likely to be tricky because not many people are able to do this.  However, let us see how you get on doing this.

  • Problems adding YouTube videos to a Clearbox 2.0 Lightbox

    Hi -
I'm still fairly new to web design and Dreamweaver CS6. I am trying to put some YouTube videos into a Clearbox 2.0 Lightbox -- seems like a very elegant and effective way to display the videos. I have used the Clearbox 2.0 Lightbox successfully with still images/jpg files. When I try to use it to link to a YouTube video, however, I get a blank white box when I test it online. I know that it is possible to display YouTube videos in Clearbox: the example file includes a YouTube video, and it plays when tested. Here is the code that is included in the example file:
        <div class="item"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/v/OtQN-iDfprU" rel="clearbox[gallery=Gallery,,width=700,,height=490,,title=A clearbox 3 preview movie on YouTube,,comment=I uploaded some movies to YouTube from clearbox 3...]"><img src="example/no_youtube.gif" alt="youtube movie" /></a></div>
My assumption was that I could simply change the http:// link and my desired video would replace the one in the example, but this is not the case. I change the code to what is pasted below and I get a blank white box.
        <div class="item"><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kc8SIQGxnXk" rel="clearbox[gallery=Gallery,,width=700,,height=490,,title=A clearbox 3 preview movie on YouTube,,comment=I uploaded some movies to YouTube from clearbox 3...]"><img src="example/no_youtube.gif" alt="youtube movie" /></a></div>
I have tried creating a sample file in Dreamweaver that has nothing in it except the Clearbox widget and these two videos. The one with the pre-written YouTube link works, the other doesn't. What am I doing wrong? Or better, how do I do it right? Very grateful for any help that can be offered!
    - Rob

Thank you for the response, Sudarshan. I did not have the page online, and in the process of trying to put something together to upload for you, I figured it out. For the benefit of others who may run into the same problem, here was the solution.
In the code above, I was removing the sample YouTube http:// link and replacing it with the YouTube http:// link that I wanted. However, there was one more step that I needed to do. In that link, after http://www.youtube.com/ you need to replace watch?v= with v/ . Once I did that, everything worked like a charm!

  • Inserting a YouTube Video

I have played with the YouTube feature and find it quite useful. One concern that I have is about the YouTube links going away. Is there any way to download a YouTube video and post it to a personal (or company) server to ensure the link never dies?

    Hi there
Indeed there is. Copy the link to the YouTube video. Then visit KeepVid. http://www.keepvid.com
There you will paste the link and let KeepVid do its thing. The "gotcha" with this is that there are some HUGE icons that try and trick you into clicking them to download the video. The Download button is very small and is just to the right of where you enter the URL.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Firefox crashes loading youtube videos but only there. it's working on other video pages. i started it in a safed modus but the problem is still there. I reinstalled firefox and the flash pluggin but it didn't help anything. What can I try else?

    I'm using firefox 3.6.8.
All my pluggins are up to date
Using a link to a youtube video or on youtube itself the page crashes. I only can hear the sound for some seconds, then that stopps too. I have to close firefox using taskmanager, nothing else is working anymore.

    Thanks again for your help.
I did these two updates now (java and plugin) and tried some youtube videos. At the beginning I thoughts that it is working now, because normally firefox crashed already with the first or second video. Now it's working for 5-10 videos and only every 5th-10th video brings firefox to crash.
With the plugin-container process thing I'm not really sure what to do. Do I have to disable the crash protection? (the 4 things that are written for window?) Could you maybe help me with this again?

  • Can't see embedded youtube videos, just a blank space where the video should be

As question says embedded youtube videos do not show outside of youtube. I'm using firefox 23.01, have cleared my cookies, seen if my flashplayer is up to date etc and still no luck.
I've put up with it for a few months now but its really starting to get annoying
any help would be appreciated cheers

    Hi.
I know this sounds stupidly simple - but it worked for me.
Sometimes, when you copy and paste the embed link from a YouTube video, the actual link to the video DOES NOT START WIth.....
    http:
If this is not there it will fail.
For example THIS WILL NOT WORK
    <pre><nowiki><iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/sCsjfE6Mabs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></nowiki></pre>
    BUT THIS WILL
    <pre><nowiki><iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/sCsjfE6Mabs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></nowiki></pre>
Took me ages to figure this out.
    hope it helps.

  • Linking a YouTube Video in Indesign

All I want is a picture that when clicked will go to a YouTube video. The document is in Indesign 6 and I am exporting as an interactive PDF. When it's opened as a PDF and I click the link I get an error saying that "Google detected suspicious activity"
Is this Google or did I do something wrong?

    Ellis,
I wish I could replicate your results.
How exactly did you insert the hyperlink into InDesign? What hyperlink is it?
This is what I did with no problems:
I went to a YouTube video and copied the URL from the link area in Chrome (or Safari).
I switched to my InDesign document, selected an object, opened the Hyperlinks panel, pasted the URL into the little field in the Hyperlinks panel, a new hyperlink appeared, I deselected the object. All the ? and = signs stayed in the link.
I also pasted the URL as text into an InDesign text frame. I used the Hyperlinks panel menu command to convert all URLs into hyperlinks. All the ? and = signs stayed in the link.
I also pasted the URL as text into an InDesign text frame, but did not use the hyperlinks panel. All the ? and = signs stayed in the link.
I exported the file and opened it in Acrobat. I clicked the first hyperlink. The video opened in my default (Chrome) browser.
I clicked the second hyperlink. The video opened in my default (Chrome) browser.
I clicked the third URL. Acrobat had added a hyperlink to the URL. The video opened in my default (Chrome) browser.
If you're doing somethintg else, I'd love to know what it is. Or what is this strange link that doesn't work.
