Linking To Blog

Hi, i publish my site to a folder then upload it, i want to publish my blogger blog page to my site instead of blogger, then i want the blog link at the top of the site created with iweb to link to my blog page in the blog folder of my webspace, so basically instead of the blog link taking you to an iweb created blog, it goes to the blog page of my choice, any ideas peeps?

  • Links in blog summary don't work

    Hi,
Ever since I upgraded to iLife '08 any links that I post in my blog page don't work in the summary (or RSS feed). For some reason when iWeb creates the summary it changes the links. For instance a web gallery link may end in gallery#10005 and the summary link changes it to something like gallery%2516278 and as a result .Mac gives you a "can't find your page" page.
This very frustrating as there seems to be no way to fix the links in the summary (as it is created automatically). Does anyone else have this problem or know what might be going on here?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did it happen only on those three entries or was it happening with new posts as well? (I had a harddrive failure and had to rebuild the site a while back so I think I have recreated the blog in iWeb '08.)
The fact that this is happening in my new posts is baffling.

  • Links in blog archive not working

Can anybody help me get more reliable performance from my iWeb archives page?
    http://web.mac.com/truthmaker/Site/Blog/Archive.html
I am getting very frustrated with the Archives page for the blog I've created with iWeb. Often -- very, very often, the links on the Archives page for past posts are corrupted -- not by me, but somehow by the software. When these links are clicked, instead of showing the proper link and taking viewers there, the link looks like: http://web.mac.com/truthmaker/Site/Blog/$link$. This of course results in one of two different types of "Page not Found" pages.
    One looks like this:
    Not Found
    http://web.mac.com/truthmaker/Site/Blog/$link$
The requested URL was not found on this server.
    お探しのURLはこのサーバーでは見つかりませんでした。
L'URL que vous avez sollicitée n'a pas été trouvée sur ce serveur.
Die URL, die Sie angefordert haben, wurde nicht auf diesem Server gefunden.
The other is a more professional-looking page that says "We're sorry, but we can't find the iWeb page you requested. . . "
This is maddening to the point of being infuriating. These links are not always corrupted, but it seems to happen randomly and frequently. This has nothing to do with my links, which are all fine when published. It appears that this is an issue with MobileMe.
Anybody have any ideas on what I can do? My blog is extensive (more than 100 posts over eight months) and I have lots of people accessing it. The blog serves both personal and professional purposes and I cannot afford or tolerate such spotty performance. Though I love Apple products, this alone is enough to make me cancel my MobileMe subscription and look into web-hosting from a different vendor.
Can anybody help me get more reliable performance from my iWeb archives page?

    it seems to happen randomly
Did you wait long enough for the 'archive' page to fully load before you clicked on a link ?
If not, then you may have clicked on an incompletely loaded url, resulting in the "not found" MobileMe page. (yes, indeed it's about fractions of a second, that is why it seems to happen randomly)
If this happened in Safari, clear the cache and wait for the page to fully load. Does that help ?
Ps : I can navigate from your archive to the corresponding entry ( tried 4 random links)
For other browsers, if you wait long enough for the page to fully load and then do a "reload page" and again wait long enough ... does that help ?
When you hoover over the links and do get a $links$ move over to the next one, go back... now do you see the correct link ? Not always, but most of the time it's a blog entry with a very long filename.

  • Publish and Share Settings for Storing on Amazon S3 and linking on blog, in autoresponder, etc

I want to publish/share my Premiere Elements 11 video such that I can store it on Amazon S3 and then link to it in my blog, facebook, autoresponder. I know I DON"T want the Online settings because I am not directly uploading to YouTube, etc.
There are so many possible choices my head is spinning.
Are the settings for playing on a computer - what I want?  And if so, exactly WHICH settings do I want?   I tried the FLA settings, having read that flash is the way to go.  But the final video looked really horrible.  Please HELP! Thanks!

    posturally
What computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 11 running on?
First, if you have not already, you will need to do some homework regarding Amazon S3 and its requirements for uploads to it for sharing purposes...requirements to include duration, file size, and formats (video and audio compressions as well as file extension), etc..
And, how is your Premiere Elements 11 project set up....
    a. What is the project preset, and does the project preset match the properties of the source media?
    b. What are the properties of the source media? (See Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and its readings for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame
Size, Pixel Aspect Ration (even if they look grayed out).
Based on the above, now your choices for the export setting...assuming that 1080p30 (1920 x 1080 @ 30 progressive frames per second) is OK
with Amazon S3, then look at
    Publish+Share
    Computer
    AVCHD
    with Presets = MP4 - H.264 1920 x 1080p30
That will give you an AVCHD.mp4 (1920 x 1080 @ 29.97 progressive frames per second).
So, more details and a look at the AVCHD.mp4 export if applicable to your project settings.
We will be watching for your follow up and results. Please do not hesitate to ask questions or to ask for clarification.
    Thanks.

  • Links in Blog Summary Aren't Working

    Hi all:
When I try to access any links on my Blog page I received error messages. Yet, when I try to access the same links on the post's page (after one clicks on "Read More") the links work well.
you can check out my site at www.nathancushing.net to see for yourself.
Any idea what the problem is?
    Thanks!

I'm surprised that this hasn't gotten more attention from Apple. From the previous posts on the subject this has been a problem since '08 was released. If the links don't work in the RSS feed or the blog summary, at least half of the functionality/usefulness of a blog is destroyed. It's a major bug that needs correction. I've checked the Apple's support page and there doesn't seem to be an obvious place to report bugs so I assume this is where the company would get that sort of information.

  • Links in blogs open in external browser

Currently if a blog post in the RSS reader contains a weblink, it's opened in Cafe - which means that most of them don't work. There's no way to copy the link URL or to open it in an external browser, which defeats the point of reading them in here in the first place.
Can we have a popup "open in browser?" dialog when a link is clicked please, in which the URL is displayed and is copyable.

    Hello UVSAR-DM
You can copy the URL form the Site tab, but I like your suggestion for an "Open in Browser" button. We will add that in the next dot release (end of July).
    Best,
    Marc.

I am having the same problem-- and viewing with Safari as the browser has had no effect. Any thoughts on solutions?
I've been a Mac proponent for two years now, though recent problems are causing me to re-evaluate. Aside from this snafu, the most recent Quicktime update neutered all sound on my .avi files as well. When can we expect updates/solutions to these problems?

  • Direct linking to Blog

So, I've been wondering how to do something for awhile....
So, I want to be able to directly link to a BLOG via the Navigation bar at the top of a page.
I want to be able to do this without having to go through a module that THEN links to the OVERALL.html
So in short, I want the NAV bar link to connect directly to Overall.html. (I've tried linking directly, no go.)
    ANy thoughts?
    Thanks!
Ps- sorry if this is an easy answer, I just can't seem to find.
    Thanks again!

Are you using the BC Dynamic Menus? If so it is quite simple, just go to where you normally set the link to any page and select blogs. See attached:

  • Published links in blog not working!!!

I need some help. We have a family website and we use the blog to share with our family who lives far away (we are military). Previously, all the links on the main blog page worked fine, and everyone was able to view the postings and the videos. Now, when I click on one of the entry titles, it brings me to a 'we're sorry' page and says that my page doesn't exist. All the links work fine locally in iweb, just not on the real web. I don't know what I did to make this stop working. I'm very frustrated also since I don't know how to see and edit code in iweb. I used dreamweaver some years ago and was used to always seeing the code. Our site is http://web.mac.com/katekehler. Help, anyone???

I am having the same problem with blog links. The URL that gets presented ends with $link$ and I am not sure from where this is coming. The links work fine in the RSS feed and they update fine but they are broken if I try them from the blog page.
    It just started last night.

  • System links from blog overall view to blog item without css???

    Hi there,
Can anyone help me with the following really strange problem?
I’m struggling many hours with the system links in overall blog view but are not able to resolve the problem. Once you click in the overall blog view to a specific blog item the system is generating a new page bit without the CSS??? I have set a template page to the blog and if I’m using the preview it looks fine. The overall blog view as well the single post view. It seems that the system is not using the CSS from the template??? Is this a bug?
    Good view’s:
    Overall blog view: http://uitstootvrij.bitl.nl/_blog/uitstootvrij_nieuws
    Single post view: http://uitstootvrij.bitl.nl/BlogRetrieve.aspx?BlogID=11720&PostID=363765
    System link view: http://uitstootvrij.bitl.nl/_blog/uitstootvrij_nieuws/post/SEO_Rapport_rondvaart-branche_o penbaar_gemaakt/
Please help me out on this?
Awaiting you answer and many thanks
    Rolf

    Hi their Rolf
    All these:
    <link href="../assets/css/bootstrap.css" rel="stylesheet">
Anything like this, this is not what you do for BC to find the path.
BC has a very simple know from root structure so the above will simply be:
    <link href="/assets/css/bootstrap.css" rel="stylesheet">
So any CSS source, script and image in templates and layouts need to start / and nothing else to know to read from the root.
Do that and it will sort this issue and when you use web apps, eCommerce and sub folder pages in the future too.

  • Adding a "forward to friend" link on blog entries?

I've setup a blog for myself using iWeb '08. Is it possible to add a link that readers can use to forward my blog entries to their friends?
Ideally, this feature would forward both my blog entry and a link back to my site, which is similar to the forwarding feature on the nytimes.com website.

I've discovered that feedburner has a service called feedflare that will insert "Email Article" links into your blog. It seems to be what I'm looking for, but I can't make it work. I'd be quite grateful to anyone who can point me in the right direction.
I'm supposed to enter in the following code into every blog entry:
    <script src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~s/myfeeduri?
    spaceUrl=http://feeds.feedburner.com/~s/myfeeduri?i=POST-URL-HERE" type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"></script>
I tried doing this and replaced "myfeeduri" with "mydomain". I am also supposed to replace "POST-URL-HERE" with "your blog’s template tags to dynamically insert the URL of the current post. " What would that tag be for an iWeb created blog?
I pasted the code into iWeb using the HTML snippet function thinking that the links would at least show up when I published to my site (even though they wouldn't be working) but there was nothing there.
Many thanks to anyone who can help me out with this one.

  • Link to blog archive has disappeared

Hi, I was hoping someone could help me out. The link to the archive of my blog entries has disappeared from my main blog page with my 5 latest postings.
I tried creating a link to "archive.html" - but that doesn't seem to have worked. The archived entries are in iWeb. I just need to find a way to recreate the link
    Any help would be appreciated

Thanks for the help - that cleared the issue right up.
    Cheers!

  • Links to blog

How can I send a link to a single blog entry? All I can do is send the link to my website now and they have to get to my blog page by clicking 3 times, which I know isn't difficult but people like to get right to the article.
When I am on my blog entry page, all I see in the URL is my website address. At one time, it showed the URL for that blog entry but that isn't working anymore.

Go to the blog entry and copy the URL from the browser's URL field and use it in your hyperlink.  Like this link: iPad Fever Hits Toad Hall.

  • $link$ in Blog Archives

My site has been up before and worked in previous incarnations of iWeb. Now I have uploaded in '08 and the Archive page sometimes display the link to the blog entry as /$link$ instead of the correct URL. This is usually remedied by a refresh. Happens in Safari and Firefox.
    Help!
    www.soldieringon.co.uk
    Jim

I have the same problem. My earliest blog entries from 2006 don't display the correct link, and I see the $link$ that you get and receive a "page not found" message in Safari. However, if one of the pages appears in a search, the correct link URL is displayed below it, and when I click it, I get the page. I'd like to find out which file contains the links for the Archive, but I haven't found the right page in the Domain file on my computer or in the blog archive files on my iDisk. I know enough about editing HTML to be able to manually correct the link if that's the problem, but I haven't found where the break occurs.
Here's my website: http://web.mac.com/juliekaye and the broken links occur at the bottom of the Year 1 archive.
