Linking two separate captivate projects

Hello. I am working on my very first Captivate project (3). I
had no issues creating the course, but once I got to the
assessment, I started having issues. Since no one that I spoke to
seemed to know why the assessment was doing what it was doing, I
was advised to create the assessment under a brand new project. I
did that and the assessment is reacting like it should. My issue
now is, how do I link the assessment to the actual course?
I hope I have given you sufficient information to be able to
help me.

One way to accomplish what you are looking for is by clicking
Edit > Preferences... > Project node > Start and End node.
There you should see an option titled Project end options. The drop
down is named "Action". Click this and choose "Open other project".
After you do this, click the ellipsis icon ( ... ) and browse to
the other project. Note that you are browsing to the .CP file of
the project. Don't let this fool you. You may be thinking that
"well, that's all well and good Mr. Captiv8r man, but my end user
won't have Captivate installed!". The thing is, Captivate sorts the
link externally and it should work just fine if linking from .SWF
to .SWF or .EXE to .EXE.
Give that a go and see how you fare.

I created two "sequences". They are currently listed individually in the "project library". Now I want to take sequence "B" and attatch it in it's entirety to the end of sequence "A" - forming one long sequence.
I have tried to drag sequence "B" and drop it into "A's" timeline. I have tried to creat a compound clip. I'm either missing something - or - you can create a compound "clip" or a compound "event" - but perhaps you cannot link to "projects" together.
Does this help descibe my problem?

OBIEE: Link Two Separate Queries Together

Hi,
I am trying to link two separate queries together in BIEE.
I have a query that will give me the sales value in January 2012 (monthly query)
But I would need to use the sales value of January 2012 to help derive the weekly sales value in another query (weekly query).
How would you link up two queries together?
I tried using union but it doesnt seem to be working.

Sure, My pleasure. Here are the basic steps what you could go through.
1. Create an analysis with your Month (January) and Sales.
2. Save this analysis as Report1.
3. Create another analysis with Week and Sales.
4. Create a filter on column:Sales using the option 'Based on Another Analysis'. The analysis editor will provide you an option to browse your other analysis which you want this analysis to be based on and just click on this browse button, and navigate to and select Report1.
5. Once you have selected Report 1 through browse option, you get down in the same pop-up the relationship and use values in column.
So sample entries in this pop-up might look like
Column : Sales
Operator : is based on results of another analysis
Saved Analysis : /My Folder/Report1
Relationship : is equal than
Use values in Column : Sales
6. If you run this analysis, you could get all weekly sales figures which are equal to the january sales figures.

Linking several different captivate projects

I have recently been informed that my 450-600 slide trainings
are too large :)
I have done some research and determined that I need to link
several smaller projects together to form a seeminly seamless
training.
I have learned about "Daisy Chains" (using the open another
project button to link). I have a question about this. In my
current trainings, my second screen is always a navigation screen.
I use buttons to branch to the specific topics my users need to
watch. Can this be accomplished using a Daisy Chain?
Any comments or suggestions on how others have dealt with the
issue are extremely welcome. I am pretty new to Captivate.

Welcome to our community, Simon
When all files are in the same folder things are simple. All you have to do is list the name of the SWF you wish to open and because it's in the same folder it should link just fine.
The only time you really have concerns are when you choose to place the files in different folders. If you do this, you need to ensure the file you are linking FROM contains a relative path so it can find the file it is linking TO. Then it gets sticky on how to explain it. I'd stick with the "all files in the same folder" approach myself.

How can I link two separate Messenger systems?

From what I have read, the only way to message users from other Messenger systems is to use the Pidgin client which would require a second logon to the other Messenger system.
Can Messenger systems from two separate Groupwise systems be linked at the server level?

How can I combine two separate video projects onto one DVD with a common menu?

In PE 3 I have a finished video project and a separate slideshow that I want to include together on the same DVD with a common menu. I would like the slide show to be accessible from the main menu of the DVD, something like: "Play Movie" and "Play Slideshow". How do I do it?

Need to link two separate Skype accounts

I signed up for a Skype account with my Microsoft account but forgot I already had an old account with my exact name. So now I have two different Skype accounts and would like to merge them and keep the old account that has my full name, "JaneDoe".
My old account: JaneDoe
My new account: live:janed_1
Yes, when I signed up with my Microsoft account I did not select the option to merge the accounts. HOW CAN I GET BACK THE OPTION TO MERGE ACCOUNTS? I've spent hours looking through community posts and it seems as though there is no solution.

First try to unlink your generated Skype account (live:xxxx) from your Microsoft account.
Try login into Skype profile website with your Microsoft account details, then go to the Microsoft account section and click Unlink.
You can now re-merge your old Skype account with your Microsoft account.
Try login into Skype with your microsoft credentials.
select "Alternatively, sign in with Microsoft account" option.

Unable to Link Captivate Projects, Desperate!

I am using Captivate 4, Version 4.01, Build 1658.
I am trying to link / launch one Captivate project from another. I have searched the Help and Forums for over two hours and from what I read this should be working hunky dorry in my release. Obviously I am missing something.
I have two projects. Proj_Main and Proj_1. Proj_Main has a menu I need to use to launch other Projects. At the end of the Projects I want ot return to this menu. I have tried:
1). Click box in Proj_Main with On Success, Open Other Project and pick CP file name.
2) Click box in Proj_Main with On Success, Open URL or File and pick HTM file name OR SWF file name.
3) Menu button at end of Proj_1 with with On Success, Open Other Project and pick Proj_Main CP file.
4) Menu button at end of Proj_1 with with On Success, Open URL or File and pick HTM file name OR SWF file name.
With the Open URL choice, I have removed the absolute path and just left the file name.
I verified that all the files (CP, SWF, HTM) are in the same folder I am working from.
In all cases I am getting NO response when I click the click box or button.
I must be missting something obvious. Please HELP!

I WAS missing something. It was those dang security settings. I added all the folders to my allowed Flash security settings and now it works.

Difference between Aggregator Project / Multi SCo packager / multi captivate projects with links...

Now I have to admit I am a little lost between the possibilities of captivate 8...
What differences exactly between these developements:
Aggregator project?
Multi sco packager?
or create a single file with mutliple Captivate projects all linked through the Action : "open the project or URL"....?
If I need only a single SCO on one unique completed course, should I use the project aggregator ?
but would the projects sizes be a problem? and explain why to use the Action : "link to project"..rather than the aggregator?
basically I wish one single file with all the courses accessible from one screen / (project?)
reports only on the course followed, resume on the course, back to the course Menu language selection .....

It seems then that none of this two, aggregator or packager, can be 'twisted' to be used in the Menu selection I need.

I think we need a wee bit more information here.
If you are using Captivate 4, I believe there is a widget that may be used to embed a YouTube video in a Captivate project. That appears to be the first thing you asked.
But the way you phrased the question, you could have also been asking about a way to create a link to a Captivate Project file (the CP file).
Can you describe exactly what it is you want to see in the end result? Just be basic. I want to click a button, see a slide that does this. And describe what this is.

Uploading a PDF "within" my Captivate project

Hi, I would like for learners to have the option of clicking an attachments link within my Captivate project so that they can download a file that is relevant to my course WHILE they are watching the video. Can Captivate do this? I've used a similar feature on Articulate Presenter.

Hi Robyn,
Welcome to Adobe Forums.
In order to download a file from the Captivate output, you need to attach a file in a Captivate project on any button or click box.
Add a button or a click box then go to Properties > (define the) Action > On Success > (Select) Open URL or File > (Type the name of the file in) URL: and then publish the project.
After publishing the project send the File along with the output or paste the file in the output folder, so that the object (button or click box) would be able to find the file which has been attached to it.

Dynamic link confusing two separate AE compositions in PPro from different projects

I am using CS5 Master Collection for Windows 7 (64 bit) on an HP Pro desktop (Intel core 2 duo, 6Gb RAM). The tower has two hard drives installed (no RAID). CS5 is installed on the original C drive along with the OS, but the working files, footage etc are all on the larger, secondary F drive.
I am working on a DVD project consisting of several seperate PPro projects. Each project has been colour corrected in AE using dynamic linking. Recently two of my projects suddenly became mixed up, by which I mean the video (not the audio) from one AE composition in one project has taken the place of another in another project. The clip remains the same length, but the link apears to be referencing the wrong clip during playback. Interestingly, there are two clips on the track above the affected clip that fade out and in at either end, during the dissolves between clips, the correct footage plays. It is only when the clip plays by itself that the problem occurs. The next clip also has the same error, though the problem only occurs for half the clip and then suddenly corrects itself. Just to be clear, All clips have been rendered, there are no more than two video tracks on the sequence, and I have tried replacing the composition from the asset menu (in which the clip plays back correctly), but the problem remains in the sequence.
I hope that descrition is clear enough. My guess is some kind of file path error in the dynamic link, perhaps due to the separate hard drive. But I really wouldn't know. I'm very pressed for time right now and I'd prefer not to go against workflow and re-edit a new composition in AE, I would also like to understand what is going on in case it happens again.
Any help with ths problem would be appreciated,

Thanks Colin, I tried what you suggested with both the AE Project that it should be referencing and the AE project it is erroneously referencing but both failed to fix the issue. Its as if a hidden clip were laid over the top of the one I want to play. Frustrating.

It's not the comps that are the problem; it's the project file names themselves. You can have all the comps in a project named the same thing, and it'll be fine, but naming projects incrementally is an issue. After Effects includes a versioning function (Save and Increment) that will create a new AE project file with a serial number, e.g. AE Project 01, AE Project 02, etc. This is all well and good if you're just working in After Effects, but Dynamic Link gets confused and will usually start looking at the later project file for comps. That will just create a big mess, as you've found. Changing the names of the project files won't help things relink automatically properly, but it can help you fix things. Make all your DL AE comps offline in your Pr projects, and name your AE projects in a manner that is not serial (give them more random names). Select your offline AE comps, and right-click > Link Media, and point to the new AE project. Things should link up correctly then--but if they don't, you'll just have to remove all the AE comps from your Pr project, reimport the comps from the newly-named AE project, and replace them. It's a pain but it'll probably just keep getting worse if you don't.

Is there a way to have two separate projects open in different windows?

On my old editing software, I could have two separate projects open at the same time. I could copy clips from Project A, click over to Project B, and paste the Project A clips to Project B. Is there a way to have two separate projects open with Premiere Elements, or will I have to just import and trim every clip within the same project?

Welcome to the forum.
Unfortunately, PrE will not allow two Projects to be open at the same time. It will also not allow multiple instances of PrE to be open.
The workaround, to accomplish what you describe, is to use a ClipBoard Extender, such as ClipMate, which will allow one to Copy a Timeline, or parts of it, from one Project, then Close that one, to Open another one, and Paste the material, that was Copied. Many users employee ClipMate, or similar, to Copy/Paste material from one Project, to another.

Auto-populate of SHELL_shellName_shell Upper form DE only functions in one single-instance project shell. The DE in the BP Upper Form needs to auto-populate in two separate single-instance shells. How can I get this DE to autopopulate in both?

The Unifier environment
contains two single-instance project shells, INF and PBS, and two multiple-instance child project shells, INFS and
PB. There is a single instance, non-workflow
business process, ‘Project Information’ that contains a data element in the
upper form definition, Project ID. The Project ID is set to auto-populate from the multi-instance “INFS”
project shell attribute, which is populated manually.
Issue: The auto-populate functionality for the
Project ID ‘Shell_shellName_shell’ data element within the single-instance
Project Information BP only functions within one of the shells, either
INFS or PB, but not both. The INF and INFS shells are currently deployed
to production, PB and PBS shell are not.
It is critical that Project ID ‘Shell_shellname_shell’ data element is populated correctly in the
Project Information upper form of both shells, INFS and PB,
because that data element is referenced by multiple business processes and
integrations.
The attribute form definitions for both single and multiple instance project shells are identical. The Project ID utilizes the same data
element ‘SHELL_shellName_shell’ as is defined in both shell attribute forms
(INFS and PB).
The data definition source is a Unifier system-level variable, SYS Shell
Name (String, 128, Text Box)
Potential Solutions:
1. Create a Project ID DE of another data type which can
be successfully auto-populated from either shell. Drawback: all BPs and integrations which
reference Shell_Shellname_shell will need to be rewritten.
2. Investigate converting the Project Information single-instance
to a multi-instance BP, and create a
separate instance for each single-instance shell type. Same Drawback as Option #1, but with additional
rework. Most likely Project Information
would have to be recreated as a new BP.
Not sure that this option would even work.
3. Create a separate Project Information BP for PB. Drawback: Two separate BPs for Project Information would
need to be created. All existing BPs
refer to Project Information, so this option could potentially invalidate the
ability to use the existing BPs in the PB shell.

Was it really necessary to post the whole API description?!?
Locale[] locales = Locale.ENGLISH();ENGLISH is not a method in class Locale, so do not add the braces "( );".
Also, the constant ENGLISH is not an array, but just a single Locale object.
You didn't say what your problem was. What do you want to achieve with your program and what is it that you don't understand?

Two separate apple ids two separate computers but the accounts are linked. how do we fix it?

my husband and i use ipads, ipods and iphones. we both have our own apple id...our own icloud accounts and sync with two separate computers. but our accounts keep linking...i have my contacts as well as his...and vice versa. how do we fix this? please help.

did you used to have the same icloud? if you did you each have to redo your contacts. have you made sure your devices don't have anything signed in with his icloud and vice versa?
