Links blocked in acrobat reader

I have a document with multiple links to various external internet sites, where all the links work fine on a mac. But one link, doesn't work on a pc and the pc user is saying the only way he managed to get access was to adjust his trust settings within Reader. This isn't an option for all their users. What could it be about this one website that is causing the problem? It's http://hee.nhs.uk/

Are you sure the links are true links or is Reader recoginizing the url and making the url clickable. This is an preference in Reader.

  • Links included into a PDF (to other PDFs) do not open in Surface RT and it works normally in normal Acrobat Reader in Windosw 8 in a desktop PC. ¿Why? Thanks

I have created a PDF in Acrobat X Pro that contains several links to other PDFs for interactivity in a publicación. It Works with no problems in Acrobat Reader in a PC but does not in the version for Surface 2 RT (Reader Touch). What's the problem?

QUOTE>>>To clarify, you would need to first check to see if the PDF extension is set to open (screenshot.20). THIS IS THE AREA THAT PDF IS NOT IN.
If it is not set to open with Acrobat <your version here> (screenshot.21), then you will need to manually tell the computer what program to use.  This is where it becomes important to know the filename you are looking for. Adobe is a company; Acrobat is a program. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I TRIED TO DO AND OF COURSE I KNOWN I USED THE WRONG NAME / WORD HERE BUT I WAS LOOKING FOR THE CORRECT FILE. WHEN I CHOSE THE ACROBAT.EXE FILE IT WOULD STILL OPEN IN INTERNET EXPLORER.
I have a different version than you do, but as an example, my program is located here: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 9.0\Acrobat\Acrobat.exe I'M IN THE RIGHT AREA AND GOT THE RIGHT FILE NAME. THIS IS NOT THE ISSUE.
Can we get off the wrong word use and get back to a solution please. I am in the right folder c:\program files\adobe\acrobat 8.0\acrobat.exe and I am browsing for ACROBAT.exe (not ADOBE.exe - again wrong word in my first discussion)
    Bad day, sorry!

when opening a pdf link on a web poage the process stalls and there is a message that Adobe acrobat reader is running. To the best of my knowledge I do not have the Acrobat reader. To the best of my knowledge I have deleted the reader program. I have an older version of Acrobat Pro. The problem occurred before I did the deletion and continues since then.

  • Link works in Acrobat Std 8.0, Acrobat Reader 8.2, but not in Reader 9.0

Hi. I also posted this in the Acrobat site:.  Perhaps this might be a more appropriate location?
    Hello.
I faced a really strange thing today.  I created a report PDF through Xcelsius.  In this PDF, I have a Flash button which, when clicked, would link to an Excel (.xls) file within our LAN.  The link works within Acrobat Standard 8.0 but not within Acrobat Reader 9.0.  I have examined the preferences on both and they are identical (as far as I can see).
    Details:
    Software used:  Xcelsius 2008 SP1
                           Acrobat Standard 8.0.0
                           Acrobat Reader 9.0
                           Acrobat Reader 8.2 (later)
    Link address:   file://G:\Management\[sub-directory]\[sub-sub-directory]\[filename].xls
Any help at all will be welcomed and appreciated.
    Thank you!
    --- Update ---
I later uninstalled Reader 9.0 and reinstalled Reader 8.2 and the link worked in Reader 8.2.  The link is a direct address and not a script.  The file is opened in IE 7 as a spreadsheet with Macros attached.  It is important for me that it works in both versions of Reader as there are several versions of Acrobat Reader deployed among our hospital -- Reader 7, 8, and 9.
Can someone help shed some light on this, please?

I think this is related to this other problem: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/567165?tstart=-1  .  This has appeared with current releases of Acrobat, Acrobat Pro and Acrobat Reader.  Adobe seems unresponsive.  We started seeing it this week in conjunction with Excelsius 4.5.  I have both Acrobat Pro 9.3 and Acrobat Reader 8 on my PC.  Pro blows up when I open the .pdf created by Excelsius, but Reader does fine.

  • Links in pdf file not working properly (in Acrobat Reader)

    Hello everybody
I'm converting a book I wrote from mobi to pdf with Calibre. While formatting the document, I used some html, including a few links between different parts of the same document.
However, when I test the pdf document in Acrobat and I click on links, they always send me about a page before of what I marked with the a name attribute... This doesn't happen when I try the book on the calibre pdf reader...
I've been looking around but can't find why. I've checked my book on mobi, and everything is OK there. This only seems to happen on the document itself on with the way Acrobat reads it.
    Any ideas or explanations?
    Thanks!

You might want to check with Calibre about the issue. If you had Acrobat you could reset the bookmarks. Since Adobe created the initial PDF document standard, I have seen this in PS files where bookmarks were placed on a page before any content was placed on the page. The bookmark was in the limbo area were a page might not exist if no content were added to the page.

  • Acrobat Reader 9.3 and 8.0 and IE 8 and web links

    Hi
This is a bit odd but the last few days I have been having problems with Reader 8.0 and IE8 in that if I clicked a web link to a pdf then the new page just hung and gave the error "There is a problem with Adobe Acrtobat/Reader. Please exit Adobe Acrobat/Reader and try again." I upgraded to Acrobat 9.3 and have the same problem.
I looked further into the issue and found that this only occurs if the pdf file is opened in a new page. If the link target is not _blank then the file opens fine with no problems.
Has anyone else had this problem or know of a fix?
    Thanks
    Nikki

I hear what you are saying and everyone hates IE but we have to design for all browsers.
I guess the best work round is to forget the target as _blank and wait until Microsoft stop that working in IE as well!
Just thought someone else might have found a work round or that Adobe would want to find a fix also otherwise people will stop using Acrobat Reader as well.

  • Can't open lotus notes links with acrobat reader XI

We had acrobat reader 9 a few month ago. We did an upgrade to XI. Since the upgrade, we can't open lotus notes link in PDF. I receve a message : Could not open the file 'Notes://<server>/85256E990056A5F7/428FA5DA3ED9D82485256E6D005FA7AB/ED916EF56E1CC50B85257 545005AB67B'. (<server> is the name of my server)
The path is working. I can paste it in run and it's working. If I downgrade to reader 9, the link work with the same PDF.
I did some trace with procmon and I can see acrobat trying to open C:\WINDOWS\system32\Notes:\<server>\85256E990056A5F7\428FA5DA3ED9D82485256E6D005FA7AB\ED9 16EF56E1CC50B85257545005AB67B
I can't find anything about this issue...
    anybody has an idea?

Having the same issue, Any hint ? Is Adobe aware of this problem ?

  • Annoying Acrobat reader icon in dock - how to block from appearing ?

Hi, I am sorry the solution must be very simple, but I googled it for a long time and could not find an answer.
Everytime I open a PDF document, the red Acrobat icon appears in the dock. I usually use Dockless to prevent some applications to appear in the dock once started, but Dockless does not have an option to block the Acrobat icon and it somehow annoys me !
    Any suggestions,
    kind regards
    Nielsmac

The only thing I can think of that might work is to add the Reader to your Startup Items in the Accounts section of the System Preferences. After adding the Reader as an item to load on startup, turn on the check box to hide the application. If this does work, you would need to keep the Reader running all the time. Otherwise, once you quit and relaunch it, the settings to hide it wouldn't apply, and it would show up in the Dock again.
Edit: Never mind, I just tried it. It no workee.

  • Using links in Acrobat Reader

I am running acrobat Reader 8.1.2 on a Mac OS 10.4.7. I want to link pages within the document and urls but cannot find the link tool in the tools menu. Are there settings I need to change to access this tool.

You can't disable the "Save As" option in your browser or any other program using JS. If you use Firefox, you could disable it using privileged JavaScript, but such code cannot be excuted from a website. So for all useful purposes, what I previously said is correct.

  • Download link for Acrobat reader

Hello, I am writing a script which should download the latest version of Acrobat reader and need a  physical link which always refers to the latest version of the application. Could  you provide such link?
    Thanks in advance

If you mean a direct download link; no, there isn't.  The download link always contains the version number, language & OS, e.g.
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/completion/?installer=Reader_10.1.3_English_for_Windows
    or
    http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/10.1.3/en_US/AdbeRdr1013_en_US.exe

  • Acrobat Reader download link to get always the latest version

I am searching Acrobat Reader download link to get always the latest version of the product.
    Is there such a link?

Have do changed the preferences in Adobe Reader to disable automatic updation ? As normally reader will automatically prompt you to install an update as soon as it available. You can change the preferences from Edit--> Preferences-->Updater and select the option Automatically install updates.
Alternatively you can check on http://get.adobe.com/reader/ to manually download the latest version of Acrobat.
    Thanks

  • Acrobat reader blocked

For selected sites, black screen appears. Text appears: "Adobe Reader blocked".
Allows one to click on it to either trust or cancel. You expect Trust to allow you to see the PDF. Selecting trust results in no access to the PDF. Only see a black screen.
    Safari 6.1
    Adobe Reader 11.0.4
Going into Safari and Acrobat Reader preferences and turning off and on various settings does not seem to fix the problem.

    I tried Carolyn's solution.
Flash Player.plugin of 10/8/13 (mod date) was in the Internet Plug-in Folder. There was not Flash Player.plugin inside the Internet Plug-ins folder (disabled). In fact, there was not Internet Plug0ins folder disabled. There was also Flashplayer.xpt in the Internet Plug-Ins folder. Any other thoughts would be appreciated.
