Links Broken after server change

My Company changed servers recently (Including a new Server name) and all links to that server have been broken. I can manually re-direct these to the new path, but was wondering if any one knew of a batch edit/search and replace tool as after the server name everything remainds the same.

It's not possible unless you use a custom plugin (i.e. write one). Scripting and automation inside Acrobat can create new links but cannot read the destinations of existing ones.

• INDesgin image links broken after saving file across systems

Hi
We have a scenario involving 3 components:
1. Linux file server running both SMB and AFP (sharing the same directory thru both protocols)
2. MacOS 10.5 (Leopard) with INDesign CS3 connecting to the Linux server thru AFP
3. Windows 2003 server running INDesign CS3 connecting to the Linux server thru SMB (or NFS)
The scenario:
1. We create an INDD document and link an image to the AFP share (on the linux)
2. On the windows 2003 server we open the same document from the SMB share (on the linux) - no error/broken links message is received.
3. We save the document with a irrelevant to images change, (eg. Adding a text block) to the SMB share
Here is the problem:
4. We open the document on the MacOS and receive "Broken links" message atlhough when you look at the path of the image you see the correct AFP path (needless to mention the path is mounted on the MacOS properly and the images are fully accessible)
What can we do, so we will not receive a broken links popup on step #4 of the scenario?
Thanks

No answers, but a few questions:
Just to be clear, by "broken" you mean missing, not in need of updating, right?
What version of netatalk are you using on the Linux box? Does it implement AFP 3?
What version of InDesign CS3 are you using? Is it fully patched to the last public version (5.0.4.682) or newer?
Are there any potentially problematic characters (e.g., slashes, backslashes, unicode characters, etc.) in the file names or the directories in the full paths?
If you make note of the full path on the Mac when the document is first created, and then compare it very carefully with the same path when you re-open it and get the broken links messages, can you detect any differences? It might also be interesting to place one of the same "missing" images in the document again once you've re-opened it on the Mac, and compare the two paths...

• Calendar broken after server update to 3.2.1

After updating our system Version to OS X 10.9.5 and out server version to 3.2.1 the calendar service is not working anymore.
The wiki group calendar which all clients are subscribed to is still working, but the personal calendars of the principals and the sync with iPhones and MacBooks is not, and i am not able to figure out what's the matter.
I found a similar question here:

When i try to find the caldav database in /var/run/caldav/ there are just these files in the folder:

I am a bit lost with these messages.
The parameter (email adress) in calendarserver_config Scheduling.iMIP.Sending is not existing. Am i able to change it in some way?
I would be very grateful for some help or hints!!

I notice this error you pasted above:
Invalid sharee detected: E144DCCF-68EC-4D13-AD59-E2205496AD96
Do you get anything back if you run this in Terminal:
dscl /Search search /Users GeneratedUID E144DCCF-68EC-4D13-AD59-E2205496AD96
Just trying to see if that is a user that exists.

• Sql server opendatasource not connected after server changed?

hi. We used to fetch data from one server (SQL Server 2008). Now, we have changed to New Server.
After changing to new server, we are unable to fetch or connect with sql server. No Error or Warning Messages after execution. pls mention the reason and solution

Hi jmohan1984,
Please ensure you have sufficient permission access to new SQL Server to query data. Here is a good KB article regarding how to transfer logins and passwords between instances of SQL Server, please see:

• Apex-config.xml is broken after password change with encryption

Greetings,
I am using Apex Listener 1.1 with Oracle GlassFish Open Source Edition 3.1.
I found something strange when changing the connection password in apex-config.xml.
If I change the password to keep it plain text like the following, it works fine.

my_password

But if I change the password to a value to be encrypted, the new password is accepted but the configuration file get messed up.

!my_password2

After restarting the listener, I get the following content in my apex-config.xml.

<properties>
<comment> Updated: Mon Mar 14 10:58:16 EDT 2011 Version: 1.1.0.60.10.38 </comment>
</properties>
Needless to say that after the next restart nothing works. Am I missing something, or is this a bug?

You have corrupted your web.xml somehow, repeat the steps making sure the web.xml is well formed.

• Kmail web links broken after pacman -Syu

Hello -
I use Kontact/Kmail for my email. After a recent upgrade, web links no longer work in my emails. When I click on any type of link in an email, an "infinite loop" of processes is generated. No windows appear, just process after process is started and stopped. This problem only seems to happen within Kmail.
Shutting down Kontact does stop the problem, so I end up rebooting. I can't seem to find any one process to kill to stop the madness either. I sent myself an email with a link to the Arch home page - here is a partial output from the process list:

sounds like another kio problem...
'll look at home if i experience the same problem as you do.
try to put those lines from your output (process list) into code tags, that helps for having them readable.

• Kerberos broken after name change

I set up my server as easeserver.easesoftware.net. I finally got the easesoftware.com domain so I changed the servers name to easeserver.easesoftware.com using the changeip command from the terminal. Most things worked but kerberos has never worked since.
A typical entry in the log file is:
Aug 02 18:29:36 easesoftware.com krb5kdc[258](info): TGS_REQ (7 etypes {18 17 16 23 1 3 2}) 64.192.143.213: UNKNOWN_SERVER: authtime 1154561376, [email protected] for krbtgt/[email protected], Server not found in Kerberos database
Oh... I forgot to mention: I am running 10.4 server as a OD Master.
I am tempted to move the OD back to stand alone server. Reboot. Then move it to OD Master and see if that cleans things up. But I'm afraid it won't.
Any suggestions of how to fix this?
Thank you very much
pedz

Back up the current /etc/krb5.keytab file and then use these instructions to change the file. This change is done automatically in Mac OS X Server 10.47; if you're not comfortable with following the instructions, use changeip to return to the previous setting, update the server, and then use changeip again.

• Logical WSIL destinations broken after server restart

Hi all,
I have deployed a number of CAF Application Services on my WebAS (CE 7.1). On the same server I have configured a logical WSIL destination (inspection.wsil) that points to the server itself so that it can be used by Web Dynpro applications that uses the CAF services. This works fine until I restart the server, after that the WSIL destination no longer contains my CAF services! They are still deployed and they can be reached on a WSDL level but not using WSIL. If I redeploy the CAF services the WSIL destination is working again. Why does a restart reset the inspection.wsil file?

• Aperture - iphoto link broken after moving Aperture Library

Dear all,
I just moved my Aperture library as I ran out of space. I used the iphoto 11 to Aperture link ... imported some images from Aperture into iphoto. How can I tell iphoto the new location of the Aperture library for the images which are already referened in iphoto?
in iPhoto I get the message "The photo “....jpg” could not be opened, because the original item cannot be found. Then it opens a file browser to point to the file ... but that's of not much use if it resides in the Aperture library!
Thanks

ctheisinger,
Welcome to the user-supported Aperture discussion group.
I used the iphoto 11 to Aperture link ... imported some images from Aperture into iphoto.
There is no such thing as "the iPhoto to Aperture link". You are trying to use Aperture and iPhoto together, and that will not work. You should choose one and use only that one. Aperture knows about iPhoto enough to initialize your Aperture library when you first use it. iPhoto knows enough about Aperture to be dangerous. If you use the "Show Aperture Library" function, you should really only use it to temporarily put Aperture photos into an iPhoto library *for the purpose of some function missing from Aperture*, and there are really very few. The only one that I can think of is to use Apple's printing services for cards and calendars, which is not available in Aperture. I.e., don't use both iPhoto and Aperture for digital management.
How can I tell iphoto the new location of the Aperture library for the images which are already referened in iphoto?
That is really an iPhoto question. Someone here with recent ties to iPhoto may be able to help, but we are all Aperture users first, and some posters were iPhoto users.

• "Access Denied" Error After Server Change

I have a number of hosting clients that use Contribute. Since
I upgraded my hosting server, they are unable to connect - or more
accurately, they can connect, but if they try to edit a page they
get a "Access Denied. The file may not exist, or there may be a
permission problem." error. This did not occur during my last
server upgrade - all Contribute connections worked just fine.
All settings such as username, password and server addresses
remain the same including the FTP server settings. I can create a
new connection from scratch, but anyone with a key generated by
their web developer is out of luck. I can send out these new keys
I've created and they seem to work just fine.
What could possibly cause this error, and is there any other
way to correct the issue beyond regenerating keys and sending them
to everybody?

Do u mean Contrinute? Captivate is not being used. It is not
possible to rename the file because these files are in production
and it would take a lot of work to go through renaming files for a
whole website.

• Server name in outlook profile stay the same after SSL changed from local to public fqdn

Hi,
I switched our UCC certificate for exchange 2010 so that it is no longer include .local in it. I used different FQDN url for external and internal (i.e externaURL is ExSrv.abc.com and internalURL is InSrv.abc.com). After I changed all settings, I found that
the outlook profiles are still using the internal server name (i.e. myexchangesrv.abc.local). Is this normal? Should I expect the server name to be the new internalURL? The following are the commands I used and I also used EMC to change the OWA and ECP's internal
URL to "InSrv.abc.com" as well. Did I missing anything?
Set-ClientAccessServer -Identity MyExchangSrv -AutodiscoverServiceInternalUri https://InSrv.abc.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
Set-WebServicesVirtualDirectory -Identity "MyExchangSrv\EWS (Default Web Site)" -InternalUrl https://InSrv.abc.com/ews/exchange.asmx
Set-OABVirtualDirectory -Identity "MyExchangSrv\OAB (Default Web Site)" -InternalUrl https://InSrv.abc.com/oab
set-ActiveSyncVirtualDirectory -Identity "MyExchangSrv\Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync (Default Web Site)" -InternalUrl "https://InSrv.abc.com/Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync
Thank you,
Aldous

Hi,
When an Outlook client goes to connect to an Exchange 2010 database, it looks at an attribute associated with the mailbox database called RPCClientAccess to determine which client access server/client access server array to use for connectivity.
Outlook 2007 and Outlook 2010 clients do not pickup this change automatically when you change the value of RPCClientAccess server, you need to repair Outlook Profile to update new RPC endpoint.
However, be careful to Change this property, because this can broke Outlook Clients to Exchange:
http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2012/05/30/rpc-client-access-cross-site-connectivity-changes.aspx
Meanwhile, this attribute must be point to client access server or client access server array. You must have an CAS array named “InSrv.abc.com” as your expected.
Also I find an similar thread about your concern, please refer to below link as “Brian Day” mentioned:
https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/exchange/en-US/2d0c0f5f-e4ec-4f33-a37d-b94fd7a2319f/cas-array-and-autodiscover-for-internal-and-external-access?forum=exchange2010
“The only place the clients will ever use the CAS Array name is when the value of RPCClientAccessServer on their database is looked up and returned to them so they can then resolve the name via DNS and connect through MAPI. This is why the CAS Array
name is not required to be on a SSL cert unless an admin chose to use the same FQDN for OWA/EAS/EWS/etc...., which would not be recommened for the reason Mitch points out above.”
Thanks

• "Sent Messages" folder not receiving new sent mails after a server change

My provider just moved my account to another server. The IMAP accounts needed to be re-established on my wife's PC in her program. So we know the files are all there on the new server.
Funny thing is that it's not working on Mail on my iBook. And when these changes took place, my sidebar contents in Mail changed on me. I have sent some mail to various places since this happened, but none of these new mails have copies which are saved in my "Sent Items" or "Sent Messages" folders. So I have no record now of anything new since the change happened. I DO have copies of mail in there that are pre-change.
I checked my preferences for mailbox behaviors, and the "Store Sent Items on the Server" is checked, so I'm not sure what's up.
For the record I'm running OS X 10.4.7 and Mail 2.1.
I have deleted and re-established my two email accounts in Mail in order to make them re-establish new links with the server, so I'm seeing my folders, but no new mail sent is showing up in my Sent Messages folder.
I would appreciate if anyone knows if there could be an issue with Mail, my new host's servers, or what. It looks like a Mail issue to me, since my wife's PC is reading everything fine (and she is running Thunderbird as her client).
Thanks!
iBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.7)
iBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.6)
iBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.7)

You're welcome.
I don't think it's your fault. Different IMAP servers use different naming conventions, and the Mailbox > Use This Mailbox For command is meant to let you tell Mail which folder should be used for what purpose, but you shouldn't have to use it just to prevent your mail from being lost. At the very least, Mail should be able to use its own default Sent Messages folder without you having to do anything. I don't know why Mail fails to do this properly so often.
Worse yet, not only does Mail sometimes fail to use the Sent Messages folder that's already there, but it doesn't even warn you that it's failing to save your sent messages as you've told it to.

• Not able to access object after server IP address changes

I have an Activatable object that gets registered with the RMIDs registry.
If my servers IP address changes, then when I look up the remote object, I can retrieve it from the registry, but as soon as I make a method call I get an access denied to xx.xx.xx.xx, where xx.xx.xx.xx is the old IP address - and not the new one.
I've tried rebinding the object to the registry after the IP address has changed but with no success.
I've also tried settings -Dnetworkaddress.cache.ttl=0. All my lookups are done by hostname.
Any ideas?
TIA
Ian

If the server changes its IP address all stubs which have already been exported become invalid and must be reacquired. For an Activatable this also means that you must re-register the object as an Activatable as well as rebinding it.
