Links don't work when I export to .pdf

I am using the newest version of Pages (5.1).  I updated some old documents from Pages '09 and made some edits to them.  Then I exported them to .pdf and in Preview (7.0) none of the links are clickable!  They show up as blue and underlined, but cannot be clicked.
When I create new documents in Pages 5.1 the same thing happens - if I insert links, they are not clickable in the .pdf.  But if I write www.website.com in the text and Pages converts that to a link, that link does work in .pdf format.
I did fine one workaround - I export the Pages 5.1 doc to Pages '09.  Then from Pages '09 export to .pdf.  Then the links are intact.  But I would love to figure out how to have it work from Pages 5.1

In Pages '09:
Right click to select link > Link Inspector > change URL > and it works in pdf
or
single click on link > takes you to url/bookmark/document/email
In Pages 5
click on link > click on edit or open > change URL > set its type url/email > doesn't work in pdf
I prefer 3 steps vs 4, with more options, that actually work.
or
2 clicks to test it.
The later is a pest in Pages 5 because you don't get the expected click on link goes to link.

  • My links don't work when I combine another file with the pdf

My internal bookmarked links don't work when I combine another file with the pdf.
The external links continue to work fine, though.
This doesn't make any sense to me at all ... but I'm hoping one of you kind folk can help?

I opened my file and instead of merging files I used insert pages and inserted all of the pages from the file I wanted.  Then I saved the file with
the same name.  Attached is a rough draft of some helpful hints I put together.  This has been a very painful process for us to discover how to handle
this and there really is not much help from Adobe.
Instead of merging files you inset pages. In Acrobat select Document - Insert pages -From file. You can select all pages or some and where you want them inserted. After you do that save the file not save as and all of your links should work. If you combine files or merge files all of the links will break.

I think it's something to do with naming, but I can't figure out what. This is because it asks to be saved and gives me a Binder no as the name. If I
press Cancel at that point, I keep the file and the links. But as soon as I need to close it, it asks me again 'Do you want to save this file' and if
I say 'Yes', I lose all the links, and if yet if I say 'No', I lose the whole file. So at some point it has to be saved but whether I keep the Binder
no name when I save it, or use the original name, it makes no difference ... it is in the saving of it that it looks the functionality, and yet, if I
don't save it, I lose the file.
This makes no sense to me....I hope it does to one of you.
For instance, Christine, how did you keep your file if you couldn't save it?
    Or have I misunderstood?

  • Dropdown menu links don't work when on certain page of my site

    Hi guys,
I've created a site that has a dropdown menu.
However, when you go to a certain page on the site on a mobile device (tested on iPhone), the drop down links don't work.
You can check out the page here - if you go to this page on an iPhone, the Facility and Capacity buttons have dropdowns but the links don't work...
Does anyone have any thoughts as to what the problem might be?
Thank you for any help and hope to hear from you.

  • Links don't work when site is published

Help! In iWeb all my links work from the home page to other pages, but as soon as I publish it, the links are dead. None of the links on the home page will work. See for yourself http://web.mac.com/rbrooks007

I put in a new logo that no longer overlaps the links. I moved my custom navigation well down into the main body of the page, but when I publish the page they still don't work. The only link that works is in the bottom panel of the layout. Is there any way to make links work in the center section of the page? Or custom navigation in the navigation bar area? I guess I'm confused as to where I can put links that will work.

  • HTTPS hyperlinks not working when report exported to PDF

    Hi,
I have the following problem - I have a https link in the report, which works properly when the report is exported to HTML, Excel, DOC, but no hyperlink is rendered when the report is exported to PDF.
Important: When http:// or mailto: are used in the hyperlink, then the PDF export renders the link correctly. Only https does not render properly and only in PDF.
I am using Crystal Reports Basic for Visual Studio 2008. The following 2 dlls are referenced in the .net application:
    CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine 10.5.3700.0
    CrystalDecisions.Shared 10.5.3700.0
Thanks in advance for any hints!
    Br,
    Leon

    Update
I did a little more testing and it worked for me because my Text field said https://mail.google.com and the hyperlink in the background was also https://mail.google.com. Once I updated the Text object to read Gmail it failed like yours did.
I suspect this is something that spilled over from version 10. Crystal Reports Basic is built on the version 10 runtime and the issue may have been fixed in version 10 but missed for CR Basic. I have a feeling this works without error in XI R2 and 2008.

last 2 lines gives same result, since subtotal is common for both request my result looks repeated,so i have given none display in CSS style using column properties for those rows
My result look like this after display:none
    Interest A---10
    Interest B---20
    **Interst total-30
    **Income total-20
But when i export to excel or pdf,i can find hidden rows, how to avoid this,is there any other way to hide those rows?

I have used conditional format to make display:none, can i know how we can do with pivot table?

  • Links don't work when grouped with a object

I am trying to create links on a element that will slide; however, when I group my link box to the image I created in Sketch I can no longer click the link. Is there a way to fix this?  Thank you.

When objects are grouped, the group act as a single object, that's the reason for grouping. You can add a single link to a grouped object, but only one link. Any links added to individual objects will not action when they are grouped.
If you want to link to multiple slides, you will need to keep any objects that include a link, ungrouped, I've never found a problem doing this.

  • "Indesign CS5 has stopped working" when I export to pdf

    Hi,
I'm trying to export a file to pdf, nothing fancy, just smallest file size. I get up to the point where I click "export" (after doeing all the settings) and then the program just freezes end I have to use the task manager toexit out of Indesign, and still no pdf. It never happened before on this document until very recently. The problem is, I'm finished with the publication and have to send the client a proof, but I acn't, and I really don't want to have to redo it all. please help.
I don't know if this is related, but when I open the file, it gives a message of missing fonts, when I try to replace these fonts, the same thing happens, the program just freezes.
Any help will be so much appreciated.
    El.

Hi Peter, thank you so much for your quick response.
The program is definitely frozen, the little icon is not there and I've left it fot up to an hour to give it some time and still nothing, I'm not even able to exit the program. I'm fully up to date with my uploads, I checked it again yesterday.
Is it possible that the file I'm working on is corrupt? If so, any suggestions on how to salvage the dcocument?
    Really appreciate your feedback.
    Kind regards, El.

  • Links not working when I export to HTML or PDF

I am a longtime Mac fanatic, but new to using Keynote. I am creating lectures for a class I teach where the computer in the classroom is Windows, so I have to export my Keynotes to another format.
First I tried exporting to Powerpoint. That was a disaster. Since, I've tried exporting to HTML, exporting to PDF, and print -> Save as PDF (to get a PDF that prints nicely).
My problem? Hyperlinks within my Keynote work fine when I play the presentation in Keynote. They also work when I export to PDF. However, they do not work when I generate the printable PDF OR when I export to HTML.
I guess I understand them not working in the printable PDF, but not the HTML. Am I doing something wrong?
Ideally I would like to export one PDF that I could use up on the projecter (with links working) and that students could view and/or print from their computers.
Should I really have to have 2 PDF's - one for students who want to view it on screen with working links and one for people that want to print it out?!?!
    TIA for any help/advice!

Do you have any filters applied to your clips?
This happened to me before, I accidently had applied a broadcast safe filter to a color matte that was black....
I figured it out by duplicating my sequence and deleting items from my timeline 1 by 1 until I was able to export a reference movie.
Anywho, export again, this time with "self contained" movie selected.
Then try to import to Compressor.

  • SWF loaded into MainNav SWF - Rollovers & Links Don't Work

    Hi all,
This is probably a very basic question!
I have a Fla file with Text and Movie clips in it. The Text
is animated when rollover occurs and thumbnail images click and
link to the full size versions.
It works when published (Say "LatestText.SWF").
But when I call it from my Main Nave FLA/SWF, upon loading
the Text.SWF, the rollover anim doesn't happen and the picture
    links don't work when clicked.
I have the latest flash player installed and the actual
weblink cursor appears as if the SWF acknowledges everything is
working, but nothing dynamic actually works.
Any Ideas? THANKS ALL! Much appreciated!

I'll try to flesh it out, although I don't think there's need
for any code behaviours as they all work fine - until the info.SWF
    is loaded into the main.SWF.
So i'll try my best to flesh this out:-
I have a Navigation FLA which publishes to SWF (at the moment
Allow access to Local Files - tried network).
This Nav.FLA is the main bulk of the website, it has all the
    links and window panes.
I have a downloaded window pane style component which is an
autoscroller (in case this could be the problem).
I can load my info.SWF's straight into the container, by way
of an Actionscript Anim Frame (1) and when the Nav.SWF is tested or
published, it indeed loads in the smaller info.SWF no problems and
    scrolls around beautifully,
The Info.SWF's I'm creating is just basically embedded
dynamic text, with a few movie clips that have Behaviours when
    clicked or rolled-over.
These Behaviours do not seem to work when the Nav.SWF's
window pane loads in the Info.SWF - they APPEAR clickable (mouse
pointer changes to hand) but nothing clicks and THEN works. The
rollover animations (actioned via behaviours from LABELS - not
frame numbers) also do not work?
Any ideas from those that know to those that struggle would
be greatly appreciated! It's the first time I've encountered a
problem with my Flash website that I can't seem to find an answer
to in all my tutorials and books!
    There's a challenge!

  • When I create a multi-page file, links don't work.

When I create a multi-page file, links don't work.  Whether I use "preview all pages in browser" or export "html and images", the cursor changes to a hand over the links, but the links don't react to the mouse click.  Also, when I export a multi-page file, I get as a result a listing of .gif files instead of .html files.

Make sure you select the Images & HTML export option

  • When I email a newsletter as a pdf, the links don't work

I am creating a newsletter that I want to email out and I have some text linking to webpages. However, when I send it as a pdf, the links don't work. Do I need to send it as a Word document? I don't want to have to send a document that large. Is there anyway to keep my file size small (ie pdf) and have the links work?
    Thanks

    Ah that is different.
It may be you are just seeing a preview of the pdf in the email, which is why the link is not working.
I would certainly not rely on people seeing even that. Most PC users do not see pdfs embedded in their email, just an attachment. Even Mac users see various results depending on how many pages the pdf contains.
I am working on newsletter emails for a client right now and the lack of standards and inconsistent results in email clients is extremely frustrating.

  • How can I make hyperlinks work in InCopy when I export to PDF without using InDesign?

I created an InCopy document with hyperlinks linking to other InCopy documents. When I exported to PDF, these hyperlinks don't work. Is there any way I can make these hyperlinks work without using InDesign? Thanks.

    beer and no prepress schrieb:
If it's for the web, why not export to JPEG?  Why PDF?
Terrible idea. In a JPG the text will not be alive, you loose all interactivity.
And making JPGs with InDesign is not what the program is meant to make.

  • Upgraded to CS5; TOC Links don't work in the created PDF from InDesign

We recently upgraded to CS5. When we convert our InDesign User Guide to PDF, the main TOC links don't work. The TOC does function from each chapter page but not from the main TOC. We have done our normal steps in Acrobat to link them. Same issue with various user guides that we have. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

Thanks for your reply. The problem is the whole page is one image and there should be several clickable areas which point to different links.
To solve this we have put a textbox over the clickable area, disabled the background and stroke and then right clicked on the textbox and used the hyperlink option to turn the whole box in to a hyperlink.
We tried several free PDF convertors which couldn’t handle this combination. Then we trailed it with the full desktop version of Adobe Acrobat Pro and it worked a treat. Unfortunately the client didn’t have that software so we signed them up to the online PDF convertor from Adobe and that isn’t handling it.
Here's the sample document: Dropbox - sample-link.docx we have been doing the tests with.

  • Links don't work after publishing

Hi! I'm new to using IWeb and I have recently encountered a problem:
When I publish the content to a folder, the pages that I initially designed, don't appear exactly the same in the new folder. The links in the navigation menu don't work in the new folder (except the ones in the "home page") and some of the text is not displayed the way I designed it...
I'd appreciate if you could take a look at my website and try the navigation bar out to see that some of the navigation bar's links don't work. Why they work in the main page and 2 other and not in all of them?
    Website: www.procosmin.com
    Thank you!
      Mac OS X (10.4.7)

I've got my fingers crossed! I think I've got it fixed! Thanks so much to you and everyone who's posted here. I DID have a text box within a text box and it was in the back(ground). This has just been so frustrating. This was my first shot at doing a web page....not to mention being new to the Apple arena. (I've had PCs, literally, for years). I appreciate your patience with someone learning the ins/outs of YOUR world.

Somehow your whole page text images etc has been
rendered as one big image, which overlaps the nav
    bar
    http://web.mac.com/anna4374/iWeb/OrrinBolton/News_file
    s/shapeimage_1.png
Check to see if the text box overlaps the nav
bar/header and move it down to fix it.
