Links in an E-mail opens up in Safari

I use Netscape as my preferred browser though I use mail as the e-mail client.
When I receive any mail and click a link within the mail, the link opens up in Safari. I would prefer that this link opens up in Netscape by default. Am unable to figure out how to do this.
Similarly, when I click an e-mail link while browsing through netscape, the e-mail link opens up in netscape mail.. though I want it to open on Mail. Can someone please help me to do this.

Hi.
To set up Netscape as your default browser, open Safari/Preferences/General, and in the Default Web Browser drop-down menu, select Netscape.
To set Mail as your default e-mail application, open Mail/Preferences/General, select Default Email Reader: Mail.
Good Luck.

  • When in mail, opening it in Safari, it locks up.  Why is this happening

When in mail, opening it up in Safari,, it locks up.  Why is this happening?  The only way to unlock is to go to Settings>mail> load remote images and turn off.  Then turn off wi-fi and turn it back on.  Then go to mail and it is back to normal.  Why would this be locking up.  RDH

If this is happening in Safari like you say, this might help as well.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

  • Link in the Task Mail opens the form in Infopath Designer instead of browser

    Hello,
I have designed an InfoPath form and associated a SP designer workflow.
It is a approval workflow. When a new form is submitted, using the "Send Email" action in the workflow, it notifies the approver that a new form has been submitted and needs approval. In the mail body, I have used the Current Item's "URL Path"
for the user to be taken to the submitted form directly.
This opens up the form, but instead of the browser, it forcefully opens the form in the InfoPath designer. I have set the forms to open in the browser in the advanced settings of the library.
Where and what else change do I still need to perform for the form to open in the browser?
    Thanks,
    Guru

    Hi,
From your description, I am not quite sure your issue clearly, my understanding is that you want to send item URL to user with workflow, and the user can access the item by the
URL. Your issue is that user will download the item via the URL instead of open the item in browser. If my understanding is incorrect, could you provide detailed information or a screenshot?
Could your provide the URL that user
    received in the mail?
You could try to construct the URL pointing to the current item which could be open in browser as below.
    http://sp/form1/test.xml?DefaultItemOpen=1
    http://sp/_layouts/15/FormServer.aspx?XmlLocation=/form1/test.xml
    http://sp/_layouts/15/FormServer.aspx?XmlLocation=/form1/test.xml&ClientInstalled=true&DefaultItemOpen=1&Source=http%3A%2F%2Fsp%2Fform1%2FForms%2FAllItems%2Easpx

  • Hyperlinks in Mail opening Explorer, not Safari HELP

A week ago, Mail started opening Internet Explorer when I clicked on hyperlink within an email. Prior to this, it was opening Safari, which is what I wanted. I've looked everywhere I can think of in the OS and application to see if I can find a way to switch it back, but I can't find it. Another highly anoying Microsoft trick. Please let me know if you know how to get hyperlinks to open with Safari.
    Thanks,
    Ross

No problem. Glad I could help. Most likely, the first time you used IE a dialog box poped up that asked to set IE as your default browser. I know the PCs I use at school ask every time you open IE, no matter what your response is.

  • When I click on the + sign, I do not get another tab even though an additional tab WILL open if, for example, I click on a link in an e-mail or on a site.

Before the latest upgrade, I could open a new tab by clicking on the + to the right of any open tabs. No more. Nothing happens. If I click on a link in an e-mail or on a website, however, a new tab will open. For example, if I get an e-mail from Facebook that says someone has posted and I click the link, I will get a new tab opened and Facebook will be there. Then I have both tabs open and can navigate on either with no problem. If I then click on the + sign, nothing at all happens. I am perfectly able to open Safari with Firefox running, and I can get multiple tabs going there with no effect on Firefox. That is, I can go back and forth.
I am grateful for any help! Thank you.

  • In FF 34.0.5 I use to be able to click on a link within an e-mail and the link would open in a new tab; it now opens in the same tab; how can i change it back?

I'm using FF 34.0.5 (I like it). I use to be able to right click on a link, within an e-mail, and the link would open in a new tab. Now when I click on the link it opens in the same tab replacing my e-mail.
Example - a friend sends me an e-mail containing a link to a web site he thinks I'd like. I click on the link and go to the web site and then go back to the e-mail tab and reply to him. Now, when clicking that link, my e-mail disappears and is replaced by the new site.
How can I fix this? When this happened once before I was told to change the 'value' for a specific 'preference name' through the about:config page.
Can anyone help jog my memory?
    Thanks!

Is this about clicking a link in an external program?
You can check this pref on the about:config page for external links.
    * browser.link.open_newwindow.override.external (-1)
If this pref has the default value -1 then browser.link.open_newwindow is used.
    * http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.link.open_newwindow
    *1: current tab; 2:new window; 3:new tab;
You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location/address bar.
You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

  • Is there a way to control where a web page opens on my desktop when I click on a link in my email (Mail)?

So while I'm reading my emails, I get a lot of Twitter notifications. I like to just click on the Twitter link & keep on reading mail until I get to the end. But sometimes the Twitter web page opens right over the top of my Mail page. It's not a big deal, but I get a lot of these, so over the course of time it's a big waste of time to keep moving the web pages over to keep reading my emails.
Is there a way for me to determine where on my desktop the new web pages open when I click on links?

Is there a way for me to determine where on my desktop the new web pages open when I click on links?
Not sure if that can be done but you can press the Expose   key which will show all open windows.

  • Clicking link in mail opens a new tab, not a new window

When clicking on a link in AppleMail, after a recent update, opens a tab in a random window or perhaps the top window in Safari.  Until this update, clicking on the link used to open a new window.  This is driving me nuts.  I am getting links from mail opening in a new tab in Safari windows I reserve for specific topics, or uses.  I do not want unrelated mail links opening and interfering with work in these existing browser windows.  Also, when I see the link from mail is not wanted, I too often close the window like I usually do, but now inadvertently close a Safari window with multiple tabs of important information, that I have trouble recreating.  Where did this come from!?  How do I change it so a new window opens?

I was having the same problem and finally figured out how to change this bahavior.  Go to Safari preferences under the 'Tabs' settings.  Make sure the field "Open pages in tabs instead of windows" is set to NEVER.  That should do the trick.

  • When I put the arrow on an internet link in an e-mail, a blue "F share" panel appears and stays when the link opens. Click on it, a window opens asking for login. I don't want to share anything on Facebook just to get rid of this intrusive bloody thing?

Every time I put the cursor arrow over an internet link in an e-mail, the little blue "F share" panel appears. If I open the link the panel stays visible. If I click on it to get rid of it, a window opens asking me to login. I don't want to login; I don't want to share anything on Facebook. How can I get rid of this intrusive bloody thing?

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

  • Clicking links in apple mail opens firefox, but does not go to the actual link.

Clicking on links in Apple Mail opens/switches to Firefox, but does not go to the page of the actual link. It just loads the homepage or stays on whatever page I was on before. Links work fine when I switch my default browser to Safari, so I think the problem is with Firefox, not Mail. Downloading the latest version of Adobe Flash seemed to temporarily fix the problem, but it stopped working within a day or two.

Here's a link to a thread that solved the problem for me:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=12552345&#12552345
The culprit was that the Flash plugin needed updating for FF. That was it.
Go to Firefox; Preferences; General (tab); Add-ons; Manage Add-ons; Plugins.
I clicked on Find Updates and immediately updated the Flash plugin.
    Hope this helps others.

  • Can't open  links/hyperlinks in my mails....

Maybe its not the right forum, but I havn't been able to find help elsewhere. I'm using Outlook for Mac 2011 but can't open  links/hyperlinks in my mails. The cursor turns into a hand as expected, but nothing happens when I try to activate the link. My default browser is Safari. Please help if anyone can..

    Hi janjkp,
I don't use Outlook so I cannot test anything here.
Is Outlook the only application that this occurs?
If it is only Outlook, I would suggest that its a setting or bug in Outlook causing the issue.
Instead of just clicking on the link, try Command (or right) Click and see if there is an 'Open Link' or 'Open URL' selection in the contextual menu.
If you can open the link that way, see if there is a setting in the preferences in Outlook that stops links being opened.
    Hope this helps

  • Can't open file:///-Links in Messages or Mail (Adium is working)

In 10.9 opening of file:///-Links was no problem with PathFinder. After upgrading I can't open file:///-Links in Messages or Mail. Only Adium is still working. What can I do to enable it again? Or did Apple stopped supporting the file:///-Protocol? Best regards Michael

Having trouble trying to open links on my recieved mail.  The only response I get when I click on the link is, "No associated application could be found".
How can I correct this problem?

What type of file is it? What is the extension (the 3 letters after the . (DOT)) of the file?
Could be it is a Windows Exe file and simply will not run on a Mac. Which is good because anyone that would send you a excute (.EXE) file is up to no good. just my opinion.

  • Mail- I click an email link and Mail opens, but nothing happens

I dont use mail.app How can I disable it completely so that it wont bother me? Whenever I click an email link, i dont want Mail to open. It would be nice if my gmail opened though.

    Hi wayner,
    Thank you for your question:
In the Firefox > Options menu under Applications, search for "mailto". From there select the action drop down and select the action.
If you click on the details of the action it should have https://compose.mail.yahoo.com/?To=%s
This macro should take you to a compose mail if you are logged in.
If the above information does not resolve your issue, please consider creating a new thread containing the specific details of your issue.

    Hello John.
You may be having a problem with some extension or plugin that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Have you tried disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal?
