Links in blog summary don't work

Hi,
Ever since I upgraded to iLife '08 any links that I post in my blog page don't work in the summary (or RSS feed). For some reason when iWeb creates the summary it changes the links. For instance a web gallery link may end in gallery#10005 and the summary link changes it to something like gallery%2516278 and as a result .Mac gives you a "can't find your page" page.
This very frustrating as there seems to be no way to fix the links in the summary (as it is created automatically). Does anyone else have this problem or know what might be going on here?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did it happen only on those three entries or was it happening with new posts as well? (I had a harddrive failure and had to rebuild the site a while back so I think I have recreated the blog in iWeb '08.)
The fact that this is happening in my new posts is baffling.

  • Links in Blog Summary Aren't Working

    Hi all:
When I try to access any links on my Blog page I received error messages. Yet, when I try to access the same links on the post's page (after one clicks on "Read More") the links work well.
you can check out my site at www.nathancushing.net to see for yourself.
Any idea what the problem is?
    Thanks!

I'm surprised that this hasn't gotten more attention from Apple. From the previous posts on the subject this has been a problem since '08 was released. If the links don't work in the RSS feed or the blog summary, at least half of the functionality/usefulness of a blog is destroyed. It's a major bug that needs correction. I've checked the Apple's support page and there doesn't seem to be an obvious place to report bugs so I assume this is where the company would get that sort of information.

  • Links in object states don't work

I have an object state with several text boxes, hyperlinks and buttons works fine, UNTIL i create buttons to control the object states appearance. Then the integrated links in the mso don't work.
Have tried with new document, new folio etc. As soon as I delete buttons to control the mso, the links works perfect. HELP please

    Hi,
You can solve this problem putting the buttom outside the MSO. And recreate the links inside the MSO.

  • I continue to have problems with links in email, they don't  Work.

I continue to have problems with links in email, they don't work. When I called apple support she said to hard boot by holding off and home keys and restart. However this is only since the new release of the operating system,  it happens ever day and it's getting OLD.. Any solutions?

Yes, almost daily since the iOS update. Is there a permanent solution. And does the hard reboot hurt the iPad?

  • Click url links from email (thunderbird) don't work.

click url links embedded in email don't work. I tried the "fix" to go to thunderbird (email account) and follow tools-options-...but when I got to "advanced" it would not click. Clearing the "cache" seems to be important, but I'm not even sure that's the problem. It started to develop after I upgraded some add-on movie-audio feature to firefox. So, I suspect there is some incompatibility there. Please help.

Since posting, I figured it out with a google search - to simply find a way to identify firefox as my "Default browser" - apparently, any time you update windows or do add-ons from Bill Gates, he makes your computer take IE the default browser - so the clicking doesn't work from email on firefox. So, I went into the control panel for "default programs" and clicked again to make Firefox the one, re-booted and everything works fine now. I suspect that many people will find this approach very helpful when they get frustrated with the same problem. Thanks google!

  • Links to web gallery don't work from blog preview

I used the idea by somebody in this forum (sorry, forgot who!) to have a blog with each entry linking directly to the various different view options of the .mac web gallery, like this:
    http://web.mac.com/kazazi/PiNoProductions/Photos/Entries/2007/9/1September2007.html
However, now the links don't work anymore from the blog preview, because the #and & characters in the web gallery's url get scrambled.
Does anybody know why this is or how I can fix this?

i have the same problem. has anyone fixed this?

  • After uninstalling Google Chrome links in e-mail don't work any more

I have Firefox on my computer. I wanted to try out Chrome. After uninstalling Chrome and reinstating Firefox as my default browser, several things don't work properly, especially links in emails. I tried suggested solution of changing registry key for .html from ChromeHTML to htmlfile or FirefoxHTML but neither works. I just want to be able to click the link and open up the relevant web page.

As someone else has this problem I reply to my own question. Only uninstallling and reinstalling Firefox cures the problem.

  • Links in published website don't work.

The majority of links in my published website (both online and when published to a folder) won't work. However, unpublished they work fine. The navigation bar and picture links fail, except for the first two pages. I've checked to make sure the links are forwarded to the front.
    http://web.mac.com/melaniermaxwell
    Any thoughts?

Ok, I checked that one and it didn't work for me too.
    So these are my thoughts:
-I think you protected your photos by putting a textfield or a shape in front of the photos and that one is covering the links and that's why they don't work. If you didn't protect them you might however have something in front of the links. Move it a bit downward so that it is on the photo put not on the links or delete it.
-There aren't any other photos to link to and that's why they are disabled.
However I think it's the first one because I get a strange highlighted area when I try to highlight.
If it's none if these I'm out of ideas, sorry! Maybe someone else has some more...

  • Some links look clickable but don't work - Word 2010 with Acrobat PDF creation

    Windows 7
    Latest Acrobat subscription
Word - Office home and student 2010
I can create PDFs via Acrobat and Word on Windows 7,  but after editing the PDF with Acrobat on Mavericks OS X, only in-document links remain clickable. External web hyperlinks, both exposed URLs and blue text with URLs hidden under link text do not work in the PDFs that are edited on MacOS. They look like they work, because in the PDFs the hand cursor appears and you can click the links, but nothing happens in the browser.
I can't find any troubleshooting information about this.
    My process:
Word: Options: Advanced - remove check in "use ctrl-click to follow hyperlinks"
Convert file using the Acrobat tab in the Word ribbon.
    Set compatibility to Acrobat 8
    Create PDF (icon)
    Click Options
    Check "create bookmarks"
    Convert Word Headings to Bookmarks
    Accept defaults, which are:
    Convert document information
    Enable Accessiblity
    Reflow the tagged Adobe PDF.
The PDF is converted. Links all seem to work as expected.
Take the PDF to MacOS Mavericks, add pages, optimize, using Acrobat on MacOS.
Afterward, only some kinds of links in the PDF work.
This is a new problem that seemed to start when I recently began to use Acrobat's subscription version on Windows instead of FoxIt to convert the Word docs on Windows.
Q: Is this a known limitation that MacOS Acrobat creates unusable links despite the initial PDF conversion being done on Windows Acrobat?
Q: Should I do something additional so that external links remain clickable after processing on MacOs?
    Thanks for any clues.

    Thanks for your reply.
After some experimentation, it seems that the place where *some* links stop working is when I take a PDF file from Windows and optimize it on MacOS with Mac Acrobat Pro. All the links work *except* the kind where the URL is hidden behind blue underlined text. These look like they work but when you click them nothing happens.
So to fix it, I think I need to optimize the PDFs on Windows Acrobat Pro.
The MacOs Acrobat Pro, which I paid many hundreds of dollars for is therefore completely useless for documents with this kind of normal hypertext link.
Also, Windows Acrobat Pro is required in order to ensure that table-of-contents links made in Word (MacOS) continue to work in the PDF. The trick there is to regenerate the TOC on Windows Word before using CreatePDF to convert it.
I hope someone else benefits from this insight, because I wasted weeks of my life trying to troubleshoot this undocumented problem.

  • Links to external files don't work

    Hello
Using RH 8.02 and converting linked Word docs (Word 2002) to WebHelp. These are policies and procedures that reference external documents.
In my Word doc I have a hyperlink to an external document. This doc is on a network server. In Word I added the hyperlink and it appeared as a relative path, such as ../RelatedDocs/RelDoc1.doc.
The referenced file is an external file, and I don't want to add it to RH because it may be updated; I just want to link to it so that a user gets the latest version.
When I update the HTML files in RH I see this in my HTML file:
    <a href="file:////terminus/avbase_techsupport/av-base documents/supportmaster/documentationshare/relateddocs/reldoc1.doc">Related Doc 1</a>
This is the correct absolute path for the referenced file. Note the file://// prefix, with four forward slashes.
When I generate WebHelp, the link doesn't work. Nothing happens.
    I tried the following:
    1. Copied the whole path into my Windows Start > Run box and hit Enter. Nothing happens.
    2. Removed two of the forward slashes and copied it again into the Run box. Now the file opens in Word.
I also tried removing the hyperlinks from the Word docs and adding them through RH instead. Same result.
Why does RH add four forward slashes to the prefix? What can I do to get these external links working?
    Thanks for your help.
    Roger Shuttleworth
    London, Canada

    Hello Peter
I apologize for taking so long to respond. I just received a new computer with Vista and have had to set it up. Here is what happens:
    1. In Word, I have a doc policy1.doc that contains a hyperlink to reldoc1.doc. The two files are in different folders. When I insert the link, Word shows it as a relative path ../RelatedDocs/reldoc1.doc. When I hover over it in the Word doc, it shows as an absolute path starting with file:///\\theserver, etc.
    2. My RH project includes policy1.doc but not reldoc1.doc. I update policy1.doc in RH. In the HTML topic file (HTML view) the link is:
<a href="file:////theserver/path/reldoc1.doc">Link text</a>. Note the four forward slashes.
    3. I save all project files and generate WebHelp.
    4. In the resultant web page (in Firefox), I click the link in policy1 and nothing happens. The status bar shows the path the same as above.
    5. I navigate to the output !SSL! and find the index page, and open it in Internet Explorer 8. The link shows in the status bar as file://theserver/path/reldoc1.doc, and when clicked IE opens the Word doc.
So in this case Firefox doesn't open the link but IE does.
    Here is another scenario:
    1. I have no links in myWord docs.
    2. I generate topic files in RH using the linked Word docs.
    3. In RH, in the HTML file for policy1 (policy1.htm) I add a link to reldoc1.doc. I choose the file protocol. RH asks me if I want to copy the doc into the project folder, and I say No.
    4. I check the HTML for policy1.htm and see that it has the link as follows:
    <a href="file://J:/Documents/rest of folder path/RelDoc1.doc">Related Doc 1</a>
(Going to Hyperlink Properties shows the same path.) Note the two forward slashes.
    5. I save all files in the project and click Generate Primary Layout (which is WebHelp). A dialog asks if I want to update <some file or other, but I can't see which one because that darned dialog box is too small, but I expect it's policy1.htm>.
    6. I say No. The output is generated and I view it in Firefox. The link works and has a path in the status bar as:
    <a href="file://J:/Documents/rest of folder path/RelDoc1.doc">Related Doc 1</a>
    Note the three forward slashes.
    7. I view the index.htm file in IE and it works.
As a variant of the above, instead of saying No when asked if I want to update the file, I say Yes.
1.The HTML of policy1.htm now shows the link as:
    <a href="file:////server/rest of path/reldoc1.doc">Related Doc 1</a>
Note the four forward slashes again.
    2. The link is as shown in the status bar of Firefox is now set to:
    <a href="file:////server/rest of path/reldoc1.doc">Related Doc 1</a>
    It doesn't work.
    2. The same link shown in IE status bar has two forward slashes (even though the source has four), and it works.
So in answer to your question, the link definitely changes within RH. The two browsers deal with things differently, with IE seeing a file://// link as file://.
Incidentally, I did some research on the file:// protocol and came up with:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_:_Issues_:_Links_to_Local_Pages_Don%27t_Work
    The answer seems to be:
    1. Add the links within RH.
    2. Don't update when generating output.
    3. If possible, get users to use IE instead of FF.
Either way, it's not very satisfactory for my purposes.
    Regards,
    Roger

  • Links when using Templates don't work in preview

I have created a template for the 'traditional' top banner,
left navaigation buttons site. In preview mode, any links
(navigation area or not) that point to another page in the web site
do not work, but external links go. (No error is reported, but
nothing happends) However, when published, all links work. Any
    ideas what is happening?
    Eample link:
    <a href="../catalog.htm" target="_self"><img
    src="../_derived/catalog.htm_cmp_edge000_vbtn.gif" width="140"
    height="34" border="0" alt="Catalog &amp; Renewal"
    /></a><br />
The graphic does appear for the link.
If it makes any difference, this is a convert FrontPage site
where I manually edited the html to import the pages into my first
    Dreamweaver site.
    Thanks in advance,
    Carolyn Wood

    > In preview mode, any links (navigation area or not) that
    point to
    > another page in the web site do not work,
This is how DW will work if you are using ROOT RELATIVE
    links, *and*
    temporary files to preview.
    Here's an example -
    * I create a page with a link to an image -> <img
    src="/images/foo.gif">
(note that the image link is a root relative link - the path
    says to go to
    the
root of the site and look for the images folder because of
    the leading
    slash)
    <img src="/images/foo.gif" (that's root relative - it
    starts with the root
    of the site)
    <img src="../images/foo.gif" (that's document relative -
    it starts with the
    current location of the document)
    * I preview that page with DW (since I am using temp files,
    DW is kind
enough to realize that root relative links won't work in a
    preview, and so
it converts them to document relative links when it builds
    the temporary
file for the preview) -> <img
    src="../images/foo.gif"> (I'm assuming that
your document is one level below the root of the site). In
    the preview,
this page looks fine because the browser has no trouble with
    the document
relative link - it knows where the file it just opened is,
    and can follow
    the path to the image).
    * I then click on a link in the previewed page to another
    page that also has
ROOT relative linked images --> <img
    src="/images/bar.gif"> and suddenly
    the image does not load.
Why? Because when you click away from the temp file DW just
    built for you,
you have lost the benefit of the automatic conversion that DW
    does with
root relative links, and the browser looks for this new image
    starting from
the root of the hard drive, not the root of your site.
The solution is to not use root relative links, and to change
    all your
    existing ones to document relative.

  • Services for WBS - Links on the WebDynpro don't work

    Hi SDN,
please, can anyone help me with the links for WBS Service on the Account Assignment for Projects ?
I had no success on searching for this answer on the SDN.
The web Links on the screen are not set up for the services.
    1 - Open a Project in cProjects
    2 - Select Accounting tab
3 - Click on any Account Assignment Element
4 - On "Services for WBS" screen, click on any Service.
An ITS (SAP GUI for HTML) window should open, with relative transaction for the selected WBS Service.
    However, nothing happens.
We have an environmet where it works, and the link points to the following address:
    http://server.company.domain:8000/sap/bc/gui/sap/its/webgui/!?MESSAGESERVER=SERVER.COMPANY.DOMAIN&PROJ-PSPID=PM/6728&PRPS-POSID=PM/6728&OKCODE=UCCOST&~TRANSACTION=CJ9ECP&sap-client=400&sap-language=EN
But on the environment where it's not working, there is only this in the reference of the link:
    https:///scripts/wgate/webguiPROJ-PSPID=PM/101&PRPS-POSID=PM/101&OKCODE=UCCOST&TRANSACTION=CJ9ECP&=&=
Please, where can I configure these links, so that the new window is called pointing to the HTML SAP GUI, when a Service is selected ?
    Many thanks,
    Fabio

    Hi Fabio,
Please check the Service SAP GUI for HTML is active for the environment in which it ia not working, Tcode to access the service is : SICF.
Please take help of your basis person for the same.
    Secondly,
There are certain customizing settings also to be done.
    1) In IMG activity : Make settings for calling an SAP transaction under Object link in SAP system, for activity :Alias for the Web Server of an SAP Transaction, enter the Web server Alias and assign Web server address to your Alias.
    2) In IMG activity, make settings for the linked SAP Objects under Object link in SAP system, select  0WBSELEMENT object and in its details view check in Destination field the RFC is defined or not (If your cProjects and R/3 are on same system then your RFC will be NONE), and for the field Web server defiine Alian for your web server which you created in previous step.
    3) For IMG activity Define Object Links for Accounting Integration under Accounting Integration, for object type 0FIN_INT_ERP_PS, define destination and Web server as mentioend in point 2.
Hope this will resolve your issue.

  • SharePoint blog categories don't work sincee upgrading from 2010 to 2013

Our Online Learning department had a SharePoint blog when we were using SharePoint 2010.  We recently upgraded to SharePoint 2013, and all of the category and archive links don't show any posts.  Does anyone know of a solution for this?
I was able to create a post today with several categories assigned to it, but it still didn't show when I clicked a category link.

    Hi,
As I understand, all of the category and archive links don't show any posts in your sharepoint blog.
    Check things below:
    1. To check if the Url shows correctly. When I click the category url, my url show as
    “http://server name/blog site name/_layouts/15/start.aspx#/Lists/Categories/Category.aspx?CategoryId=3&Name=Events”.
    2. Click the category link and edit the page, then check if the needed web parts exist.
In my environment, there are four web parts named posts, categories, blog tools, and archives in the page.
    3. Can you provide the screenshot after you click the category link?
