how do i add new links in the detailed navigation section? is it added in workset or page?

Hi Arun,
The Hierarchy of Portal object is iview, Page, workset, role. You can view application once the role is assigned to the user. If the entry point is role, role and workset appears in the Top Level Navigation (TLN) and the rest of the hierarchy appears in Detailed Level Navigation. Usually the no of items in TLN is 2. We can change it to 1,2 or 3 depending on the requirement and the rest if any will appear in the DLN. So we cannot say which object appears in the DLN.
Also there is concept of Workset within Workset, Page within Page. It all depends how the object is packaged.

How to disable or grey out a link in detailed Navigation

Hi All,
We have requirement in which few of the links in are to be displayed as greyed out or disabled in detailed navigation and in navigational pages. This is to stop the users from accessing the link for sometime say for a week or so.
I have managed to grey out the link in navigational area. But couldnt find a way to do it from Detailed Navigation. If i click on the link on detailed navigation, it would open the applicaton.
Kindly help me on how to disable or grey out a link in detailed navigation.

Hi Namit,
Open the particular page , and select dynamic navigation (from the right hand side corner Display drop down menu ) .
U will get all the links which r there in the detailed navigation.
and uncheck the visible property .

How to create links under Detailed Navigation Panel

Hi All,
Our reqt is to create many links under "Detailed Navigation Panel" so that portal users may click on any of those links to navigate to that particular iView.
For example. I have created 3 iViews ( A,B and C). In the "Detailed Navigation Panel" i would like to have three links( One, Two and Three). If user clicks "One", it should go to iView A.
Kindly help me how to do this. Many Thanks in Advance. Appreciate if any one could send me the detailed steps involved on this.

Hi Venkat,
As far as I understand your requirement, you don't want to have these links as part of the detailed navigation within the navigation hierarchy, but below, within the navigation panel, statically, right?!
For such a static solution, you could just create an iView displaying these links, and put that iView into the navigation panel of the desktop innerpage, see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/b4/771158e4cb4bf6af9974380948db86/frameset.htm for the structure details (below the Detailed Navigation iView).

Direct Link to Detail Navigation Report

Hi, I have a number of reports(IViews) in my Detail Navigation Area. Is there anyway to get a direct link to a specific IView in the Portal?

You might want to read up about iViews and quicklinks, which are basically a named shortcut to an iView... Of course, the user needs to have the iView as one of the iViews in their role before they can launch it with the quicklink.

I have created a new iview, now I have to display this iview in MSS by providing a link in the detailed navigation of the MSS role.

Yes, For finding the appropriate Workset, In User administrator, check what all roles and Groups are assigned to the user. This will have the PCD path of role aswell. Once PCD path obtained, Open the Role and Via "Trace delta link" option find the approproate MSS role and Workset. Open MSS workset or Role, and Add your iview.
if it doesn reflect even after adding in this, Go to System administration -> navigation and clear all cache and check.

Javascript error generated on localization of detailed navigation links.

I m working on an application in EP KM and doing localization. when I log in with language user I m getting javascript error.
error comes when I click on the link in detailed navigation. All the detailed navigation links has been translated in 4 languages.(Spanish,French,Italian,german). Special character problem is also a problem in detailed navigation, on Page and iviews its fine.
anybody idea about translation of detailed navigation and any error that is generated by that link. ( We have done translation using worklist translation manually. )
I cannot modify Script that generates errors. Because It is auto generated by SAP.
I watched preview of available pages in that particular language, I am getting no errors.
So I think there is no error with language.
So what can be the problem actually?

Create link in detailled level navigation after creating BSP iview

Hi All,
I have created few bsp iview in portal. After assigning these iview to role, a create link is unnecessary visible in detailled navigation.
I would like to hide it.
I have tried to play with iview properties but no luck
please advice.

Try assigning BSP iview or page directly to roles and test it.
Also check in page or workset properties to hide from detailed navigation instead of iview itself.

Detail Navigation missing when i link a web page in the WPC Scenario

Hi to all.
I had publish WPC site with the External Connector method.
I have some Web Pages linked in the Navigation Structure, when i link one of this from a internal link (for example in a List link or other) I displayed the page and the detail navigation is visible and the focus on the destination page is light.
Well, when I try to link a Web Page that not is linked in the Navigation structure (open it in the same page) the Navigation structure is missing.
Why? How i can leave the NAvigation structure and display the page?

Hi,
this scenario is not supported by WPC. I think it was written somewhere (in a note or so). The problem is that if a page is not included in the navigation structure there is no navigation node associated. And so link to that page does not contain NavigationTarget therefore it does not trigger a real portal navigation but just displays the page in the iframe in which it has been fired. That means if you are using the standard framework page (i.e. with frames) page is shown in the inner most frame and the rest is untouched (side effect from which is that the TLN is not updated) and if you are using the light framework page after click the page is shown on the whole window as there are no iframes.
May be you would be able to work around this by selecting such page to be opened in pop up window. Other options exist but they are more complicated as solutions.

How can you put a web link in the detailed navigation?
I know that if your role contains iviews that are 3 levels down (default), then the link to the iview will appear in the detailed navigation. But, I want to put a link to a external site in the detailed navigation - is this possible?

I have a page set with a url iview and it opens from the detailed navigation in a new window fine.
however when clicking on a link to the page via a landing page which displays the KM content page folders, it loads it in the portal active window still (with nav and masthead).
Any ideas how to get the km link to open in a new browser window?

Different links in the detailed navigation, based on URL alias

What I'm trying to do :
Based on URL aliases /irj/portal/individual or /irj/portal/business
I will dynamically add an UME group to the already logged in user.
Filter :
If clicking on /irj/portal/individual I will store "group=individual" in the context, and add UME group individual, if clicking /irj/portal/business I will store "group=business" in the context, and add UME group business and remove individual, and then redirect to the same URL.
Configuration
Each UME group has a one-to-one mapping to a Portal role.
I will place an ACL on the PCD content, based on group, hiding/showing aggregated folders, hanging under the roles.
Wanted end-result
Different links in the detailed navigation, based on URL alias.
My question is how you would implement the filter part, mentioned above ?
Portal app or J2EE servlet filter or something else ?

Create a JSPDynPage component(C) having 2 hbj:link whose hrefs point to these 2 iViews(A and B). U can get the href of the iView by previewing it(for A and B). Create an iview from the par component (C) and add it to the DLN so that it shows the links to ur iViews(A and B). U can make the Show Tray property of this iView (C) to false.

Making Detailed Navigation show, and put som links in there.

I am trying to make some links show in Detailed Navigation(DN), but no matter what page i setup it doesnt show and when i expand DN my iviews still doesnt show.
I`ve tried to alter my default framework file at the inner page setup to make DN show, with no luck...
And i have tried to alter each page to make it show.
Any ideas?

But as far as I know there is no way that you can show the iViews in the detail navigation if it is added to the page.
Look what the hierarchy of these are:
Workset|_ Page1|_ iView11.
 |_ iView12.
 |_ iView13.
 |_ Page2--|_ iView21.
 |_ Page3--|_ iView31.
But yes there can be one way out, you can directly add the iView to the workset. Then those specific iViews can be displayed in the detail navigation.
Workset|_ Page1|_ iView11.
 |_ iView12.
 |_ iView13.
 |_ Page2--|_ iView21.
 |_ Page3--|_ iView31.
 |_ iView_41
 |_ iView_51
 |_ iView_61 
By this arrangement you can add those three iViews which you are talking about to the workset and then view it in the Detail navigation .

How to make link that browses your detailed navigation

Hello Sapies,
I'm currently working with EP7 and I'm showing a html page in a iview that contains links. I want that these links automatically browse my menu-structure. So to other roles and/or to other iviews in my detailed navigation. How do I build these hyperlinks.
In EP6 it worked like this

As far as I know there is nothing changed in EP7 to trigger Navigation.
You can navigate two ways:
1. Use EPCF to navigate:

Access the detailed navigation link using webdynpro

Hi,
I have a requirement where we have two different DC's of which one is a standard DC and the other one is custom DC with one application in each of them.My requirement is to navigate to the other application in the second DC directly on clik of a link or button from the current application.Also since these applications are displayed in detailed navigation i want to access the detailed navigation link location and activate the other Application instead of using WDPortalNaviagtion.
The steps are:
Development Component - DC1 - This is custom DC
with application APP1
Development Component -DC2 - This is standard
with application APP2
I have APP1 & APP2 in the detailed navigation.
If i have a link or button in APP1 to navigate to APP2 i have to be able to activate the link on the detailed Navigation of APP2 to open up its content.

Where is the Detailed navigation and related link configured for the ESS/MSS.
Is it done in the Homepage Framework configuration?
I could see different navigation and related links for different worksets within ESS/MSS getting called dynamically. Where is this configured.

If you haven't made it at this point, this is indeed done via the Home Page Framework via the backend on the following IMG PATH:
> Cross-Application Components
> Homepage Framework
1. You make a resource available via the Role (via PCD)
2. You customize every other part as a cascade:
Define Area group / Headers
-> Define Areas / Assign Area to Area Group
-> Define Subareas / Assign subarea to Area
-> Define Services / Assign Services to Subarea.

Dear All,
I need to change the Detailed Navigation link so that it is right aligned and the arrow image is followed after the link.

when it is opened then the following should be the view

Do let me know if this can be achieved by any theme settings; if not then what should be the approach for the same.

This is not possible by just theme settings, For this you need to modify the Detailed Navigation Par file.
Download the the Detailed Navigation par file open the jsp page and saw the columns .
