Links in PDF not working when viewed in browser

Whenever I view an interactive PDF in a Firefox window the links in the PDF don't work. They work in other browsers like Chrome and Safari, but in Firefox they are as dead as normal text.
It also says: "This PDF document contains forms (even though it doesn't). The filling of form fields is not supported."
Why is Firefox's PDF viewing and editing capabilities so poor when all the other browsers have not trouble with it?

hello, the pdf viewer is still somewhat experimental and under very active development - you could try if the same error is occurring in the current development version, which you can download as an addon from http://mozilla.github.io/pdf.js/extensions/firefox/pdf.js.xpi
in case it has the the same rendering problems, you could then file a bug report at https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js/issues (a github account is necessary for it though) - please also provide a sample document where the error is apparent!

When I view a pdf document using Reader 8, the links in the document work. However, when another user views the pdf document using Reader 9, the links do not work for them. Any suggestions?

Are they hyper links or are they spelled out (http://...etc)?
If they are spelled out, it could be because the person using 9 needs to select "create links from URL" in Preferences>General>Basic Tools.

AcrobatActiveXVB SDK Sample - Links in PDF Not working

Hi,
I am trying to create an application in VS.net (similar to AcrobatActiveXVB SDK Sample) to display PDF files in my application. PDF file opens fine. But external links in PDF file are not working. I trying to display a main index pdf file, which contains external links to 10 other PDF files. All 10 PDF files are located in my local hard drive (main index pdf file is also located in the same folder). If I open the main index file in Acrobat Reader then it the links are working fine. It is not working only when it is opened inside the AcrobatActiveXVB SDK Sample. Please help.
Please Note: Links are not grayed. I get the hand mouse pointer, when I mouse over to the links.
Windows OS - XP SP3
Acrobat Reader - Tried it with 9.1.3 & 9.3.3. Un-installed and re-installed multiple times

Why does PDF not work, when TOC is enabled?

Hello,
when I enable the TOC function in skin editor and publish my project in PDF, the file does not work and only contains strange strokes and quads.
What is the reason for this?
I used Captivate 4 before and verything worked well. Now , with Captivate 6 I got this problem or bug.

Hotspot links on graphics not working when you Zoom.

Just noticed something.
When I have a graphic, jpeg or a .gif, and create hotspot for links out to other website, they don't work when the viewer zooms his browser.
Is this normal? is there anything I can do about it.
It was not an issue until super large screen have been coming out and people are going to start zooming within Safari etc...thanks.

Murray makes a good point about "how small" the number is anymore. (see attached) Mac is still a minority of the PC market, but in the last five years, they have more than doubled their share, and with iTunes, and now Safari running on Windows, the number of "what appears to be" Mac users is climbing as well.
Case in point. My dad. He's 72, and only started using Windows about six years ago. There's no way he'll ever buy a Mac. He's got enough on his plate just trying to learn XP at this stage. But... he used to listen to jazz on Radio@AOL. I showed him iTunes, and the radio it has. AOL offers one station, or at least dad could only find one. iTunes radio has more than 100, and several different types of jazz. So he's a Mac product user now, even though he's on a PC.
Same with Safari. I got him to switch to Firefox a few years back, but I also put Safari 4 on his new machine earlier this year and I showed him how it works. He likes the panoramic top sites view, because he can choose his favorite news sites from there by looking at the page in the preview. Now he's adding to the stats for Safari users... again without a Mac.
You're right about losing even one customer to a perceived faulty site design, even if it's their browser that makes it look that way. The notion is "Hey, if I can't even get into his site, how can I be sure he knows what he's doing as a photographer?" Then even if they do get a hold of you, and hire you they may be skeptical of your work. I've been there. It cost me a few hundred bucks. I can't afford that again.

Links not underlined when viewing in browser

I've set up a hyperlink style so that links are underlined. When I view my site in 'Preview' mode they appear to be underlined and OK, but when I export, upload via FTP and view in browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, IE), they don't appear underlined ? I thought it may have been due to the paragraph styles I have set for the content I have as links, but I've even tried removing the style and applying to a non-styled font... they still don't underline ? Does anyone have ideas ?

Could you please confim if you have applied link to the text (by manually selecting the text) or to the "text box"?
If the link is applied to the text box, please check the settings in the text link style :
Please dit the text link style and check if making text underline there helps or not.

Transparent Button Link to URL not working when I publish

I am using mulitple tranparent buttons (over text) as a link to open a URL file in a seperate window on our company intranet. I created this file 6 months ago and it always works fine. Today, I needed to update the file and add another transparent button to link to a new url. When I preview the file, everything works fine and a browser window will open showing the correct web page but when I publish the file, nothing happens. None of the links work.
I have updated this file in the past and I have never had a problem. Does anyone have any suggestions. This should be a two minute update for me but has turned into a big problem.

What you might consider doing is to declare a common output folder. Then flag that folder as safe. Normally that's a one off and it just holds. But you do have the option of clearing the list of "safe" folders. Perhaps something clobbered that at some point.
Additionally, once you copy the content to a web server and view it in the browser using a URL, you shouldn't have any concerns. The link should work for all users.

Search help does not work when view context is mapped to comp context

Hello,
I am trying to display search help for an input field of a view. The context to which the input field is bound is a node with an attribute. I have specified Dictionary Search help for the attribute. Now when I execute the application, I am able to get the search help in the screen.
But, I need to map this view context node to its comp controller context. When I do the mapping, the search help does not appear when executed.
It would be a great help if someone can point out an answer to this.

Follow these steps:
1.Delete the context node/attribute which is bound to search help from the View.
2.Now Save metadata.
3.Perform Context mapping again .In the Edit Context Mapping window drag the node/attribute FROM RIGHT PANE TO LEFT PANE and select the entry.
4.Delete the Input Field from the view.
5.Save again
6.Close NWDS and reopen it.
7.Create input field again and bind it to the context element.
Hope this solves the problem.

Links to images not working when saving to JAR

Okay Ive created a Java GUI app with Eclipse and it all works fine until I try to save it to JAR.
Basically the images don't load.
grassIcon = new ImageIcon("images/grass.jpg");
antIcon = new ImageIcon("images/ant.jpg");
lionIcon = new ImageIcon("images/lion.jpg");
is what I am using so the images are in a folder named "images".
I've checked the JAR file and it does contain the folder with the images and it looks like everything else is running.

Buttons not working when viewing .pdf on tablet...

I created a .pdf to view on a tablet. My links are working, but the buttons I created are not.
For example, Button 1 is supposed to take the user back to page 1, but touching the button does nothing.

If you're using the free Adobe Reader, it currently doesn't support buttons.
You need to get a paid 3rd party PDF reader. PDF Expert should work for you.

Discoverer Plus - Manage Link option is not working in Viewer

I am working on 10.1.2.3 Discoverer Plus. I have created one workbook with multiple worksheets (1 detail sheet and 4 Left Group Report.
I have created seperate links for 4 worksheets. Drill to Details is working fine in discoverer plus and parameter values passed as per the mapping in managed link option.
However, when I tried to access the report in Viewer, parameter values is not coming as per the mapping.
In detail sheet we have several optional parameters
from One summary Sheet, I am not passing all the values to the parameters in the detailed sheet.
Those column for which, I am not passing any value is coming as NULL (it should come blank as report is treating NULL as string), so no data found

Drill Down is working fine in Viewer and Plus.
Parameter's passed from one sheet to another is also working fine in plus but in viewer I have some problems.
Here are the details of the problem I am facing.
I have 2 Summary Sheets and 1 Detail Sheet
Sheet 1: 3 Parameters (Summary)
Sheet 2: 4 Parameters (Summary)
Sheet 3: 7 Parameters (Details)
When I am clicking on Sheet1 to Drill down 3 parameters are having correct values but the 4 parameters which can't be passed to Sheet 3 is coming 'NULL' (NULL string value) so detail report is not showing any data. Similarly for Sheet 2 4 parameters are coming as expected but 3 are coming as NULL.
When I am defining Manage Link Option, I am doing the mapping for 3 Column for Sheet 1 rest 4 columns are BLANK (no info).
I hope now my problem will be clear.

Interactive Buttons in PDF not working when in iPhone

Hello!
I used CS3 to turn an InDesign document into an interactive PDF with buttons. It works just fine in a computer, but when I tried to view it in an iPhone, all interactive buttons are gone. Does anyone know why? Thanks! Here's the link for the PDF so you can try to view it on your own iPhones:

Unfortunately there are no pdf reader which support this on neither the iPhone or the iPad.
You have to create an App or rely on the limited functionality of the the pdf readers.
I would like to see a pdf reader for the iPone, iPad ios supporting InDesign buttons and basis interactivity.

Links within PDF not working

I have emailed myself a few simple PDFs and have noticed the hyperlinks within my PDFs aren't working on my 3G or my 3GS (current, non-jail broken OS).
I'm not certain if this is common behavior and the onboard PDF rendering on iPhone OS is lacking or if perhaps my PDFs are malformed somehow.
Can anyone confirm for me with PDFs of their own making?

Attachments are not fully functional with iPhone currently...since iPhone doesn't have the ability to do anything but display the PDF or doc etc, the links don't hyperlink to the data you're trying to open from within the PDF...
Perhaps with OS 4.0 this will be available

Poster image not working when I turn browser javascript off

I have inserted a poster into the downlevel stage and the poster image has been uploaded to the correct folder, along with all the JS files. So, I am not sure why the poster image doesn't display when javascript is turned off in my browser.

The downlevel stage is for browsers that don't support modern standards -- not for disabled JavaScript. JS is required for Animate content to display on both modern and legacy browsers.
You might want to try manually placing an image with HTML/CSS in place of the AN stage if you need to support browsers with JS disabled; which IIRC is a very small percentage of viewed web content

Links not working when I export to HTML or PDF

I am a longtime Mac fanatic, but new to using Keynote. I am creating lectures for a class I teach where the computer in the classroom is Windows, so I have to export my Keynotes to another format.
First I tried exporting to Powerpoint. That was a disaster. Since, I've tried exporting to HTML, exporting to PDF, and print -> Save as PDF (to get a PDF that prints nicely).
My problem? Hyperlinks within my Keynote work fine when I play the presentation in Keynote. They also work when I export to PDF. However, they do not work when I generate the printable PDF OR when I export to HTML.
I guess I understand them not working in the printable PDF, but not the HTML. Am I doing something wrong?
Ideally I would like to export one PDF that I could use up on the projecter (with links working) and that students could view and/or print from their computers.
Should I really have to have 2 PDF's - one for students who want to view it on screen with working links and one for people that want to print it out?!?!

Do you have any filters applied to your clips?
This happened to me before, I accidently had applied a broadcast safe filter to a color matte that was black....
I figured it out by duplicating my sequence and deleting items from my timeline 1 by 1 until I was able to export a reference movie.
Anywho, export again, this time with "self contained" movie selected.
Then try to import to Compressor.
