Links in Preview

Hi,
I'm using Preview 5.0.3 to read a PDF document that I've written in LaTeX.
For some reason, the links to other parts of the document don't always work. For example, I write "See page 21", then click on the link for it in Preview, and it takes me to page 15.
It isn't a problem with LateX because when I open the PDF in Acrobat, the links work correctly.. so it must be Preview.
I've tried to update Preview, but I can't find out how to do it.
Does anybody have any ideas? Thank you...

links in preview don't show template on new page in
dreamweaver 2004?
I have created new html files using a template, then saved
the file with a new html name.
I preview it in my local broswer, the first page I want the
preview shows uo OK. When I click to link to a new page in my root
folder, the new page shows up, but not formatted with the template.
Why and how can I fix this?

Premiere CC 2014 losing link to Preview files - what I've found

Upgraded to Premiere CC 2014 in an effort to resolve the dreaded "losing link to Preview files" problem.
After some testing, I've discovered that I need to actually close any and all timelines before saving/quitting in order to keep the link intact.
This workaround works for a variety of timeline types (ProRes and Avid 220), and irregardless of what type of external drive I am rendering to.
Has anyone else had this type of "losing links to Preview files" behavior?
FYI, I am on OSX 10.8.5...

I have LR5 and a MacBook Pro OSX 10.8.5 I have an external hard drive that when I imported photos from my cameras memory card I selected the hard drive as the source to move the pictures to. I forgot if I clicked ADD, MOVE, or COPY.
In the library mode in LR5 the external hard drive shows up under folders, but has a question mark on every folder on the external hard drive. I control clicked on the question mark for the first folder (the parent folder?) and choose “Find missing folder”. I then navigated to the external hard drive and clicked on that same folder, then clicked choose. Nothing happened. I tried this same method with individual folders and the same, I control click on the folder with a question mark, navigate to the same folder on the hard drive, click on it (I tried both just clicking on the folder so it was highlighted and actually opening the folder), and select choose, the question marks remain.
1. How do I link the two to remove the question mark?
Second question, possibly related. I have a collection in the library mode that has only previews, the originals were added to the same external hard drive as above. When I navigate to the hard drive via my finder (not in LR5), the originals are there. When I am in the library mode in LR5, in this collection, and click on the preview square in the top right corner of an individual picture in that collection, it says “image can be edited using its smart preview but the original file can not be found. Would you like to locate it".
The original location of it shows below this statement and is correct; it shows the path to the external hard drive and the folder where the original is contained that I mentioned previously. I navigate to that picture on the external hard drive and select it. I get another notice box pop up that says “the file is associated with another photo in the catalog. Each file can only be associated with one photo.” I select show in library and it brings me right back to the image that is a smart preview only. I am stuck in this loop and cant figure out how to associate the original on the external hard drive with the smart preview in LR5.
1. I have the originals still on my camera memory card, do I import again? I am afraid I will loose all my edits.
I hope I gave you the right info. Every link I find to answer this question is related but not quite the same, any link you know of is apreciated. Thanks!

Have you ever re-named files using duplicate file names e.g. names that have been used previously?

Adding New View Objects/Link on "Preview and Print" - Order Acknowledgement

Can we add New View Objects/View Links for the existing "Preview and Print" Order Acknowledgement.
I want to add for the 2 new functionalities i.e., for Charges (from OE_PRICE_ADJUSTMENTS_V ) and the Line Level Notes, which is currently not supported by Oracle.
Can anyone help me on acheving this functionality?

You can do that. You should first create the new business objects(AM, VO, VL) in jdeveloper, create your new regions in jdeveloper, associate the AM to the top level region(stackLayout) you create. Use personalization and add a stack layout in the Preview and Print page, set the extends property to point to the new region which you had created. Donot forget to deploy all the files in middle tier before doing the personalization.
The AM which you had added to the stackLayout will automatically be nested with the root AM of the page during runtime.

Adding a link in preview

Unable to create a hyperlink in Preview - it appears the functionality, despite being referenced in the help guide, has been completely erased. VERY FRUSTRATING. There is no "Link" button.

There have been a couple of posts about this.
Links seem to be MIA and I've reported it as a bug.

I had an add on for years but how to get my pc worked on and now its gone..it was a mouse over link to preview that page in a new tab .it had a little blue mark

it was like a preview any page in new tab when you mouse over the link it would open that page and i cant remember what it was called

Problem Creating Internal pdf Links In Preview

I am trying to create internal links in a pdf file within Preview. When I "Set Destination" to a particular page within the file, the link always goes to the page after the one I set. The strange thing is that when I view the same file on a Windows PC it works right. Any ideas how to fix?

Did you ever find out why this happens? I am having the same problem and so is another mac user I know. We can't figure it out!

Web links open Preview instead of Safari

My mum has a Mac mini running 10.3.9 and it's developed this problem: when she clicks, a link to a web page (in an email for example), instead of the the page opening in Safari, the application Preview starts up (with no document open) instead.
Here's what I've done, none of which has made any difference:
Used Disk Utility to repair permissions (twice) and restarted.
I opened Safari, went to a website then dragged the URL to the desktop to make a webloc file. When I double-clicked this file, Preview started up. I Got Info on the file and its default app was Finder. I changed this to Safari and checked 'Change all'. Get info on the file now shows Safari as its default app, but double-clicking the file still starts Preview, not Safari. If I CNTRL-click the file and choose 'Open with' and choose 'Safari (default)', the file does open with Safari. But if I double-click it - or click any link in any app. which should normally open a webpage in Safari - Safari is unaffected and Preview starts up instead.
I'm stumped. Any ideas what I should do next?

Hi Steve,
In addition to Niel's advice above, you might want to take this opportunity to download a more internet compatible browser for your mother to use such as Camino 1.6.10 (freeware). Make sure to download the 1.6.10 for 10.3.9 OS. Safari v1.3.2 for 10.3.9 cannot be upgraded any further whereas Camino was updated by it's developers further for 10.3.9 and will handle many more web features that Safari 1.3.2 can no longer handle.
If your mother prefers Safari, for some reason, she will need to upgrade the OS to a later version, by purchasing a later retail version to handle newer web features and changes to internet sites. That will allow her to use a later version of the Safari browser.
10.3.9 works fine, though, for most usage and Camino is an excellent browser. So if you don't see the need to upgrade the OS at this point Camino can be customized to look and feel almost identical to Safari 1.3.2 albeit with the addition of how it handles more modern internet features using 10.3.9.
You likewise, as with Safari, can change the default web browser to Camino, similarly, once downloaded.

Re-Linking rendered preview files?

I had to move an entire project from one drive to another. All contents were moved in the same folder structure including the preview files. Now the rendered preview files dont link up to the project. How can I re-link thses files?

Thanks Jim, but Premiere did not ask for the file location when it started up.
Harm, so you are saying I need to re-render everything?. Seems like Adobe would have a way to make this work.

Problems with a link into Preview form

hi all.
I make a XML Form for news, it contain 4 forms " Show, Edit, ListEdit and Preview".
The problem is when i see the Preview forms, this have a link " Read more..", this link is set to Hyperlink=View , that will open a new windows with the details of the news. the new window have a link, but this doesn't work (show javaScript error).
error: open_url (url) don't exist in the source of page.
But if i see only the Show form the link works fine.
Can you help me please with this problem ?

Link AE preview window to custom flashplayer or videoplayer?

Have never heard or seen that this is possible, however just came up with a new script idea and was just curious if it will work.
So what I wonder is whether it is possible to link the AE viewer/timeline to a custom flash player or video player?
Something like: What is shown in the AE preview window, also appears in the custom video player.
Does anyone know if this is possible?

* go to Compatibility tab
* click Use Resolution 640x480 pixels
* click OK and start Firefox
-> Firefox will now start but you should be able to change the size of the window.
* Close Firefox and now Uncheck the 640x480 resolution
* Start Firefox again and now all should be fine
Check and tell if its working.

Add web link to a PDF in preview

Hello Mac World,
I have a MacBook Air OSX 10.9.2
I cannot seem to find how to add a working web-link to my PDF in preview. I have looked in Preview <tools>,<annotate> and there is no LINK button
Please help me to know if I need to buy a new program or if I'm just missing something here... Ps.. it's not in View either.

Open Preview, and check Help > Annotate a PDF. It describes such things as adding a text bubble, etc.
There is no explicit way to add a link in Preview. Preview is, after all, primarily a viewer with a few markup tools.
I happen to use a product called PDFPen which is available in the App Store to mark up PDFs.
I have no financial interest in PDFPen. I am a reasonably satisifed customer.

PDF links open numerous pages in safari instead of saving file or opening it in preview

I changed by mistake an application opening PDF links from preview to safari. No it's a catastrophe as when I click on those they open thousands of new windows and everything stops working. I changed default program for PDF files to preview, but it didn't help. Does anybody know where in safari I can change default app ? SOS
