Links in Sahrepoint calendars

THis is my first time here and I am hoping to become a regular member.  Thanks All!
I have created a calendar of classes I teach for the month.  Each entry has a link that takes me to a summary of the listing.  What I'd like to do is put a link in the summary descroption that takes people to our email system using my email address
and the class name in the subject line.  I can make that work in MS Word, but do not see any way to put a link in the summary.  I have clilcked the Edit Item button and put the link in there, but all I get is the HTML code rather than a working link.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!!

Hi,
I understand that you are placing a link in Sharepoint Calendar item. When user clicks on the link it should take you to the email system with your email address on it and having the class name in the subject line.
In MS Word, Hope you are trying to achieve the requirement using "Add a Hyperlink"->Email Address-> Input Email address and Subject and so on.
Hope, that is not feasible here in Sharepoint in the Calendar list that am aware of. If you see the option to add Hyperlink you can add something like this  Send Email. Otherwise, you can use html to achieve
it if you have seen Html editor while editing the item

thanks. yes i am aware of the VoiceOver feature but it is NOT the solution to my problem. as you said, it is a solution to a different set of issues. i want the text to speech ability because i there are books i need to read but do not have the time to sit down and read them and have become used to listening to them read to me either by a professional human reader or with the text to speech software on the Kindle.
I think Apple makes the best audio devices but i am really disappointed in this inexplainable shortcoming. if apple can give us siri they ought to be able to design a nice little button that i can push to turn on text to speech while i am in a document, book, magazine or webpage. clearly it is possible as apple has added the "reader" button in safari to have web pages dropped into the reader format.
thanks for your suggestion though, it is what everyone suggests but it does not address the issue.

  • I use iCal, my husband uses the calendar in gmail. Fro months no problems on invites and acceptances. Now if he invites me I am no longer offered an acceptance and it is not visible on my calendar unless I link his gmail calendar which I do not wish to do

I use iCal, my husband uses the calendar in gmail. For months we had no problems. Recently, he will send me invites and I no longer have the ability to accept or decline. The only way to see the event is if I link is gmail calendar which I do not wish to do. Any solutions?

I've been using iCloud since it's inception as "mac.com" or whatever it was called. I've been able to Sync Outlook Exchange Calenars to my iMac, iPhone and iPad. However, I cannot get iCal (when viewed in iCloud) to display Exchange or Google Calender items.
It's odd, all other Mac versions of iCal are happy e.g. iMac, MacBook Air, iPad Air, iPhone etc. But nothing when I login to icloud.com and look at the iCal there.

  • Why can't I share my iCal diary anymore with my work colleagues? I used to be able to send a link so the calendar could be viewed in any browser be it PC or Mac platform??

Why can't I share my iCal diary anymore with my work colleagues? I used to be able to send a link so the calendar could be viewed in any browser be it PC or Mac platform??

Ordinary webspace won't do - what you get is a text file: this is the problem - MobileMe took the file published by iCal and formatted it as a calendar. Presumably if you were running your own server as indicated in the help page it would do the same; but unless 1&1 can speficially provide you with a CalDAV server it's not going to work.
Do your colleagues have Macs? For those who do, they can subscribed to a shared calendar in iCal and it couldn't be simpler. Presumably Windows owners could do the same thing in a suitable calendar program; and this is a lot simpler solution.
Another route: according to this site:
    http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/publish-ical-calendars-mobileme-os-server-mac/
box.net can do this for you. I seem to remember that this arose a while back, but I have a feeling that the poster then couldn't get it to work. I can't advise on that, but you might want to investigate it as an option.

I am having a problem that I cannot find addressed. My old computer TOTALLY died - it won't even turn on to deauthorize, back-up, and all those other steps given to transfer my music. All the info I have found, says you can authorize up to 5 devices etc, but so far, nothing is working. I just want to transfer my library, and don't have hours to spend on this. I have searched and searched, and really sincerely need help, and please - only helpful comment - yeah, obviously I am missing something some where. • Leopard Server - Can I link the users calendar to wiki?

    Hi there,
Is it possible to link the user calendar to the wiki and not the group calendar.
    gr maarten

    Hi,
    AFAIK, this is not possible.
The user calendar does not have a GUID associated with it. Even if you add the link to a wiki page as an http:// reference there is no way to authenticate to it.
The wiki uses the GUID to reference a logged in user to the group and therefore access to the calendar. In the user calendar case the wiki can't authenticate to it.
Additionally, user calendars are stored in calendar/users directory and not in the calendar/groups directory. As separate locations the two areas do not correspond and for the same reason.
    HTH,
    Harry

  • Link to published calendar opens on June 2006..??

I have my calendar published, and I have a link to it from my site. I click the link and the calendar opens beautifully... however, by default, instead of set on TODAY, it is always set on June 2006 when it opens. Anyone know how to fix this? I didn't see anything in the preferences.
    Thanks!!

    Amanda,
Is your calendar published on .Mac?
If so, you may want to use the iCal>Calendar>Refresh command.
Another possibility is to use the iCal>Calendar>Unpublish... command followed by the ICal>Calendar>Publish...command.
My published calendar has this format: http://ical.mac.com/WebObjects/iCal.woa/wa/default?u=myusername&n=Publish.ics
What do you have posted for yours?
Is this something that happens only when you view the site or do users of you link observe the same behavior?
    ;~)

  • Link to MobileMe calendar subscriptions in Pages '09

I am working on a document with the end goal of sending out a PDF with links to subscribe to shared MobileMe calendars.
I am using Pages '09, version 4.0.5 (852), Mac OS X 10.6.7, and the new CalDAV MobileMe calendar. The problem is that every time I crate a link to the shared MobileMe webcal, Pages 'auto-corrects' the URL to begin with "http://" and breaks the link.
How I am currently creating the links:
         - Select text
         - Click the Link tab in the Inspector window
         - Click the "Hyperlink" tab
         - Check the box to "Eable as a hyperlink"
         - Choose "Webpage" from the "Link To:" drop down menu
         - Copy and paste the link to the shared MobileMe calendar (webcal://www.me.com...) in the URL: field.
Pages will automatically add in "http://" to the beginning of the URL.  After this, the link takes the reader to a blank webpage rather than adding a new subscribed calendar as expected.
I have found a work around:
         - Open Finder and navigate to the desired Pages document.
         - Copy the Pages document
         - Rename the Pages document to end in ".zip" (without quotes) and choose "Use .zip" when prompted
         - Open the new ZIP file
         - Open the extracted folder (should have the same name as the ZIP file)
         - Open index.xml with TextEdit or another plain text editor
         - Use the Find and Replace feature (⌘F in TextEdit) to replace all occurrences of "http://webcal://" with "webcal://" (without quotes)
         - Save and Close index.xml
         - Go back to Finder, open the folder that was created by unzipping the the Pages document
         - Select all items in the folder (⌘A)
         - Choose File > Compress [number] Items from the menu bar
         - Rename the newly crated "Archive.zip" to "[document title].pages" (without quotes). Put the name of your document in place of [document title]
         - Open the newly created Pages document and immediately choose Share > Export... from the menu bar
Does anyone know of a more elegant way to accomplish this?
    Thanks,
    NChiu

I can't help you on the not having http:// part of the equation. One simpler step for you though is after you have made all your changes, instead of selecting everything in the folder and archiving, just add the extension .pages to the folder.
I know it isn't much help, but maybe a little.

  • Is there a link between the Calendar and the Address Book

I wanted to know if there is a way that if you are setting up an appointment in the Calendar that you are able to place a contact name from the address book and link that information with the scheduled appointment?
    Thanks
    John

Not within the native RIM OS, no.
But I use an application called RexConnect which will perform that function--and many others, such as allowing an email to be inserted into a calendar event or task--or vice versa.

  • Link to setup calendar subscription from web page or app?

I have a web site that generates ical files (.ics). I'd like to put a link on a page that the user can click on which would launch the
    Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars->Add Account->Other->Add Subscribed Calendar
area with the Server url pre-populated with the url to our site's ical file. I could obviously just post instructions for the user to follow for adding the subscribed calendar, but it would be much simpler if I could just launch that directly from a link or button.
Is anything like this possible to do on a website? If not, can it be done if I write an iPhone/iPad app?

I would suggest posting this in the iPhone Developers Forum.

  • Linking a SP calendar view to Outlook

Is there a way to link a calendar view - not the entire calendar- to Outlook. I have a column in my SP 2007 calendar that includes a drop-down list of our 5 business units and a foltered view corresponding to each. If employees in business unit A only
want the meeting for their business unit to connect in Outlook, is that possible?

This is not possible out of the box, as the Sync works at list level and not the view level . It will display all items in the Outlook calendar.

  • Problem linking SharePoint 2007 calendar to Office 365 Outlook

    Hello,
I'm trying to link our SharePoint 2007 calendar to my Office 365 Outlook on my Surface Pro 3 running Windows 8.1. The problem is, the Actions button in our Sharepoint calendar does not have the "Connect to Outlook" option visible at all. I've done
the connection multiple times and everything should be in order, but now trying to do this with our new Office 365 & Surface Pros this problem occurs. I tried it with two different Surface Pros, neither have the Connect to Outlook button available.
    Any ideas?

Having been working on a very similar project for a good few months, I could probably write a novel on this.
First, forget about the tool, there's isn't a golden utility that'll do everything for you.  This is due to the two generation gap between technologies and the move from on-premise to cloud.  Simply throwing a tool at this and hoping it'll work
    will cause you problems.
First, analyse your SP 2007 environment and work out what you think your pressure points will be.  For us, there were plenty, such as: -
    Custom workflows
    Densly populated lists
Changes in functionality, content types and so on
Obsecure changes to web part functionality
You'll want to see HOW any tool you look at handles these issues.  We ended up using Metalogix Content Matrix, which has a few troubles moving workflows and custom forms.  In the end these were recreated manually.
