Links on my webpage

I need to create a separate page on my website for links. How do I do that?

If you want to create a new page, just hit the "+" button at the bottom of the iWeb window. Alternatively, you can look under the "File" menu and select "New Page". This should pop up a window letting you choose the theme and template for the new page. Then design away!
You can simply type out your links if you want. If you do this, make sure you include the "http://" part of the link. iWeb has a changeable preference menu item to "recognize" these links automatically and make them active hyperlinks.
Otherwise, you can make hyperlinks out of any object (text, graphic, photo). Just select the object, then open up the Inspector Hyperlink tab. Check the "Enable as hyperlink" box, then choose "External URL" and type the URL in the box.

How do I get firefox to open a new window when i click on a link in a webpage ?

When I click on a link in a webpage in Firefox, generally it opens the new page in the window i am in (though some times it does not). How do I get it to open a new window (or tab) each time I click a link.
For example, on www.bbc.co.uk if I click on a link, the new page opens in the same window, if I then click another link in the new window, again, it opens in the same window. To get back to the original window, I have to use the back button twice. Surely there is a setting so that all 3 windows can be open on separate tabs or separate windows.
I have been to the tabs window in options, but doesn't seem to make a difference.

Open link/bookmark in new tab in same window:
*Middle-click (press the mouse scroll wheel) the link
*Ctrl+left click the link
*right-click the link, choose "Open Link in New Tab"

I use aol mail, and I want to change my mailto: to aol. Firefox won't let me do that. When I click on an email link in a webpage, my computer goes nuts.

When I click on an email link on a webpage, my computer goes crazy. (Please note that links to other websites are fine.) My computer seems to want to link me to Internet Explorer, which I don't use often. The computer starts running very fast and hot. Sometimes, I get a multitude of identical error messages from Explorer, and it is often hard to delete them!
I thought maybe I could solve this by changing my mailto: client, but there is no link for Aol. Please help!

PS: Why am I still on AOL? I still use the first email address I got many years ago. Friends and clients know my email and use it to contact me. I don't want to change it.

I tried to follow the instructions, but it didn't work. There are 10 mimeTypes.rdf files on my computer!
I tried to follow the website instructions of
Tools -> Options -> Content / File Types -> Manage
but once I get to Content I am stuck. No Manage button. (there is nothing that says File Types)
What do you suggest?

How to print all links in a webpage. IE has had this for over 10 yrs.

This has been an option in IE since day 1, but I do not see any way to have Firefox print all links in a web page.

Firefox Has an add-on called Download them all which will enable you to print all links in a webpage. Here is the link to the add-on:

Why can't I use the tab key to highlight links on a webpage?

In previous versions of FF and in other browsers, I can use the tab key to navigate through all the links on a webpage - I can't seem to do this with FF5, the tab key will only highlight the address bar, search bar, and any form fields within a webpage.
Using the tab key to navigate through links on a page is an accessibility feature, and I often use it to show hidden skip links at the top of a webpage for users who prefer to use the keyboard over a mouse and for assistive technologies.
Is this something that can be turned back on in preferences? Or is there a reason why it was removed from this version?

It can be fixed in Mac OS X Tiger preferences (Keyboard -> "all controls") or try a ctr-F7

Can an object link to a webpage? PDF

Is there some way to make an object or box link to a webpage? Say after exported to PDF, the viewer can clink on an object and it will send information to a certain website.
I have seen a PDF doc (a form to fill out) on the web with a button on the bottom of the PDF page that says "click here to submit form". Is there a way to do this in InDesign???

Just to clarify:
You can create a button in InDesign to go to a url. However, simply going to a url is not enough to submit a form. You will have to modify the bahavior of the button in Acrobat to do what you want.

How is "linked from these webpages" determined?

I'm trying to write an automator workflow that will scrape images but it's not working.
Should be straight forward as the html has a bunch of <img tags that reference another site
now is that "on these webpages" or "linked from these webpages"
these arent hrefs which is what I'd expect the later to be but you never know how this is determined.
needless to say neither approach is working

Well in my case it would appear there's something wrong with the actual scraping since View results shows {} for the image urls returned when either linked or this page is selected.
So now i'm screwed because I have no other way to diagnose the problem ie. why the <img elements are being missed by the action.

I don't like when I scroll over a link on a webpage and the hyperlink shows up on the bottom right in white box... it is extremely annoying. I want to know how to turn it off if possible, otherwise I'm going to have to use another browser. Thank you.

I don't recall this feature on any other version of firefox. For some reason, I can't stop focusing on the fact that every time I scroll over something on a webpage, an annoying white box pops up in the corner of the website displaying the hyperlink, or showing the fact that the link or whatever is loading... it's unnecessary and to me it appears as clutter, especially when I'm browsing a website that has a colored backdrop because then the annoying box pops out even more. I want to turn it off somehow or get rid of firefox.

Can't download, save, or print pdf links on some webpages.

On a couple, but not all, of my financial institutions webpages, I can't download the statements and save them as pdf.
When I click the pdf link, a page opens showing the statement, but to see it all, one has to scroll the screen. When I try to print it, by clicking File on the toolbar, the pulldown menu gives me only the option of Print Largest Frame which prints only what is visible on the screen in the window. When I try to save by going to File, then Save As, a window opens for print options giving me two format choices: Page Source (html) or Web Archive, but no pdf. The statements never download, nor open as pdf.
What is odd, is that this issue is not common to all financial institutions. On some, the statements read, load, save, and print as pdf just fine.
I have updated the Adobe Reader, and all software on my Mac.

Linked text to webpage, but webpage shows error

Hi In DW CS4.
I have a link on text on a webpage. The link when clicked, goes to a bad error link page, although, that page successfully works when you visit/navigate through that companies website. It just doesn't work through mine.
Could this be something on my end or theirs?
I double-checked the .html file & links in DW & they seem to be correct and or match up.

Linking Flash to Webpages

Hey, I'm working with Flash CS4 / ActionScript 3.0
I just wanted to know how to link my finished flash ad to its corresponding webpage.

Create an invisible button the size of the ad and place it on a layer above everything else. Then assign it an instance name via the properties panel and add some code for it in the timeline (different layer but same frame). Let's say you name it btn...

I can't copy any data or links from any webpages in Firefox to other programs such as Word

When i am on different webpages and i try to copy information (URLs, data, links etc) from the webpage and try to paste it into either email messages, MS Outlook 2003 or a MS Word 2003 document, it will not paste. Not sure if this is a Firefox problem or a MS Office problem. It worked fine until about 2 days ago. Now it won't do it at all - have tried from several different webpages, different types of data, different types of desinations (documents, email, etc)

What happens if you try to paste into Notepad?
Also, when you paste into Word, does any data paste at all? Try copying from this forum reply into Word to make sure the problem is with all sites. (Here is some '''bold text''' and ''italic text'' you can try copying)

Links to a webpage in an email

Previously, when I clicked on a webpage link contained in an email, my screen would be switched to my browser (I'm using Firefox) to the new tab that would be connected to that link. Somehow my configuration changed such that my screen does not change to my browser. The link is connected to in my browser in a new tab but the mail message is still displayed on my screen. How do I / where do I configure my system so that I switch from the mail client to my browser and to the new tab where the "linked" webpage is displayed?

Some webmail programs can automatically detect and convert URLs to links, but often they do not. Most editors include a link button on the bar with the other formatting buttons; it often looks like a couple of links of chain.

How can I make an icon that links to a webpage that works with Mac and Windows??

I burn CDs with my photos and send them to clients. Besides the photos folder, I would like to include a file (similar to the .webloc files on the Mac Desktop) that can be clicked and it will be linked to my website - it will open up a browser window and go to my website . Is it posssible to make one of these icons that works with both Macs and Windows machines? Thanks!

The reason I saved to text: The first time I followed your instructions, it did not work. I tried to figure out what I did wrong and saw that you wrote to "save as plain text." I did not know what this means and there was no option available to save a plain text. So I looked around and saw "save as stationery" and I guessed that maybe that was what you meant. And after that, it worked! But the next thing you know, the icons started duplicating themselves.
I guess I had made a different mistake in the beginning and I fixed it without knowing what it is.

But just one question. WHY does saving as "stationery" make an icon duplicate itself?

How do I make a link to another webpage open in a new window?

Hello Everyone, I am at a loss as to how to do this. I'm not a developer, just someone who updates simple things on my website. I thought I took care of this a couple of weeks ago, but whatever I did it does open the link in a new window while opening it in the window my site is in too, which defeats the purpose. I can't find how to correct this in Help. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Pamela
