Links to websites not displaying

Starting last night some of my websites in Safari and most email links to websites do not open.  They are blank or say </body>.  </HTML>
I must have changed a setting when I was trying to get into the App Store last night (which was also causing me problems).

Never mind.  I found the problem.  I am logged into the secured wifi at work which they just changed to security settings on.  They were blocking everything.  When I use my phone's Mobil hotspot everything works.

  • Websites not displaying correctly

    Just installed Firefox 7.0.1. (on Windows 7). Several websites not displayed properly, eg BBC which gives this message: "This page is best viewed in an up-to-date web browser with style sheets (CSS) enabled. While you will be able to view the content of this page in your current browser, you will not be able to get the full visual experience. Please consider upgrading your browser software or enabling style sheets (CSS) if you are able to do so." Any suggestions?

    Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

  • CSS : Website not displaying correctly in IE 7 , ok in Firefox and IE8

    Hello all,
    I am a newbie designing my new site with CS4. This is my first post to forum, although I have read many helpful hints while proceeding.
    I will be grateful for resolving a quirky issue.
    My website http://www.chezshuchi.com is not displaying correctly in IE7. IT is displaying correctly in most other browsers. The HTML validation is fine. I think there is some issue with CSS, but I am not able to find it despite spending much time. Will appreciate input.
    Two images are attached. The first is the screenshot in IE 7 . The second in Firefox (IE 8 is same).

    Change the embedded CSS at the head of the page in Code View as follows:
    from
    <!--[if IE]>
    <style type="text/css">
    /* place css fixes for all versions of IE in this conditional comment */
    .twoColLiqLtHdr #sidebar1 { padding-top: 30px; }
    .twoColLiqLtHdr #mainContent { zoom: 1; padding-top: 15px; }
    /* the above proprietary zoom property gives IE the hasLayout it needs to avoid several bugs */
    </style>
    <![endif]-->
    to
    <!--[if IE]>

    /* place css fixes for all versions of IE in this conditional comment */
    .twoColLiqLtHdr #sidebar1 { padding-top: 30px; }

  • Website not displaying correctly. Firefox is changing the character set to Western (ISO-8859-1) automatically.

    Normally I have set Firefox (or it's set by default) to Character Set Unicode (UTF-8) and everything displays perfectly. I've never had a problem before.
    Now however, whenever I upload my own website, for some bizarre reason on that particular tab (and only that tab) the Character Set is changed over to Western (ISO-8859-1) and then there's a few characters within my site that do not display correctly, namely apostrophes and hypens.
    It definitely isn't my software (Serif WebPlus X4) because the page displays correctly in every other browser. Plus it displays correctly in Firefox if I change the Character set back to Unicode.
    PS The site is a work in progress

    That happens because the server sends a content-type (<b>text/html; charset=ISO-8859-1</b>) via the HTTP response headers and in that case that content type prevails. The page code is saved with an UTF-8 byte order mark () that you see in this case.

  • Websites not displayed correctly

    Hi,
    since i updated to Safari 6.0.2, many websites are not displayed correctly anymore. instead of pictures i see a blue question mark, sometimes the whoe layout is a mess. this concerns multiple websites, alse like facebook or youtube. when i refresh, it mostly orks, so i think it´s not a plugin-issue
    Curiously, also in Mail, some Emails are not displayed correctly.
    Thank´s for any suggestions or ideas how to solve that.
    Christoph

    Please read this whole message before doing anything.
    This procedure is a diagnostic test. It won’t solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
    Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The following procedure will help identify which such modifications you've installed. Don’t be alarmed by the complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out and won’t change anything on your Mac.
    These steps are to be taken while booted in “normal” mode, not in safe mode. If you’re now running in safe mode, reboot as usual before continuing.
    Below are instructions to enter some UNIX shell commands. The commands are harmless, but they must be entered exactly as given in order to work. If you have doubts about the safety of the procedure suggested here, search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects.
    Some of the commands will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but each one is really just a single line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then either copy or drag it. The headings “Step 1” and so on are not part of the commands.
    Note: If you have more than one user account, Step 2 must be taken as an administrator. Ordinarily that would be the user created automatically when you booted the system for the first time. The other steps should be taken as the user who has the problem, if different. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
    Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
    When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign (“$”) or a percent sign (“%”). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
    Step 1
    Copy or drag — do not type — the line below into the Terminal window, then press return:
    kextstat -kl | awk '!/com\.apple/{printf "%s %s\n", $6, $7}'
    Post the lines of output (if any) that appear below what you just entered (the text, please, not a screenshot.) You can omit the final line ending in “$”.
    Step 2
    Repeat with this line:
    sudo launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.(apple|openssh|vix)|edu\.mit|org\.(amavis|apache|cups|isc|ntp|postfix|x)/{print $3}'
    This time, you'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning.
    Note: If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before taking this step. If that’s not possible, skip to the next step.
    Step 3
    launchctl list | sed 1d | awk '!/0x|com\.apple|edu\.mit|org\.(x|openbsd)/{print $3}'
    Step 4
    ls -1A /e*/mach* {,/}L*/{Ad,Compon,Ex,Fram,In,Keyb,La,Mail/Bu,P*P,Priv,Qu,Scripti,Servi,Spo,Sta}* L*/Fonts 2> /dev/null
    Important: If you formerly synchronized with a MobileMe account, your me.com email address may appear in the output of the above command. If so, anonymize it before posting.
    Step 5
    osascript -e 'tell application "System Events" to get name of every login item' 2> /dev/null
    Remember, steps 1-5 are all drag-and-drop or copy-and-paste, whichever you prefer — no typing, except your password. Also remember to post the output.
    You can then quit Terminal.

  • Website Not Displaying Properly In IE, Windows 7

    My first Muse created website is at http://gordonsportfolio.businesscatalyst.com where it displays as designed in Firefox, Safari, iPad, and iPhone. Using a friend's Windows 7 laptop, however, it does not display as designed and, in fact, is missing all the navigation buttons and the layers are not where they should be. Is this to be expected? Is this normal for Internet Explorer?

    Thank you so much for replying on a Saturday Zak. Sorry not to include a screen capture, but I don't know the first thing about PCs, only Mac. On Macs this site looks great, but I'm using it to look for work and afraid everybody on a PC will think I'm an idiot for not fixing this before applying. Will use your suggestion and see if it doesn't help (pretty sure it will).
    Thank you Zak!!

  • Website not displayed properly

    I am professional blogger and writes on my website http://www.2013ipl.in and http://www.iplfan.com for IPL related stuff which is sports events. I am using Worldwidelab theme which is using Wordpress platform.
    When I see my website using Mozilla for Android, it does not display proper website. If I use other browsers like Opera Mini and others, It displays properly. So, what is the problem of this issue? Is it problem related to Wordpress theme or else?

    I don't see anything major wrong. Would you explain the issue in greater detail?

  • Website Not Displaying After FTP Upload

    I have recently built a HTML/CSS website with Dreamweaver CS5 as a redesign for a client - it is my first website built through DW - and uploaded all the files via FTP.  I removed all the former files/pages and it says my files have uploaded to the remote server...but the website does not display when I go to the URL.  Instead a 404 error page displays.
    This is my very first time using FTP, so I have no idea what I am doing wrong.  (FYI: I have cleared my cache.)  I have a default index page...and it is located in a "Pages" folder.  Do all my pages need to be out of this folder in order to be accessed?
    The URL is http://www.4hislove.com
    Here's a snapshot of my remote server/local files:
    Thank you for your help.  Please forgive my ignorance!

    You have no default page in the site root. You've put your index page into a subfolder called pages:
    http://www.4hislove.com/pages/
    For starters, you should move index.html to the site root - but you need to think carefully about how you want to organize your site files.

  • Since updating to Firefox 4, why is my website not displaying properly?

    Sine updating to Firefox 4, one of my websites - www.fonografiacollective.com - is not displaying the home page properly. For some reason, it is showing our logo twice. This site has a WordPress CMS, and I am not technically savvy enough to know what is not compatible with the new version of Firefox. Please help as soon as possible.
    Thanks so much-
    Bear Guerra

    I think that is is caused because you place a block element (DIV) in an inline element (A)<br />
    You can't do that.<br />
    It works if I disable the HTML5 parser, but with HTML5 enabled I see an extra A tag and all A tags are closed and reopened.
    <pre><nowiki><a title="Fonografia Collective" href="http://fonografiacollective.com"> /* inline */
    <div class="logo"> /* block */
    <h1 class="hometitle">
    <a href="http://fonografiacollective.com/" title="fonografia collective">fonografia collective</a> /* block */
    </h1>
    </div></nowiki></pre>

  • Background graphics and link icons do not display even after downgrading flash, emptying cache, reinstalling recent and older versions of firefox

    sometime today, firefox 14 began not displaying the background graphics and link icons on every site I went on from my laptop. It would display this information when I changed the rendering engine to the explorer platform. I have removed the flash player 11.3 from the computer; re-installed flash 10.3 recommended from the troubleshooting page; restarted the computer; same problem. Did the same with the Java plug-in with the same result. Disabled all extensions and restarted Firefox with no change. Examined the sites on a different laptop using version 10 of Firefox and everything worked fine! Reloaded older version of Firefox on original laptop, restarted computer, same problem on older version. Updated to latest revision, listed below, and same problem. Went to desktop computer using version 14, and same thing is happening there also. (I have not done anything to this system yet.)

    All of the items contained in both of the reference documents were already active on each system. I have created a zip file with four screen capture pictures showing what I'm dealing with. The first picture shows what the site looked like yesterday morning; the second shows what happened when I refreshed the screen this morning; the third shows what happened when I switched the rendering engine on the same tab this morning; the fourth shows what happen when the tab was switched back to original rendering engine. The file is at:
    [http://charisacademy.org/pictures.zip This location]
    Please consider this for a moment: I am having to answer these questions from you using my iPad because the graphics at the top of this window which control the type-input will not display in Firefox while the post buttons will. Let me know if you can't get the picture file and I'll find another way to get it to you.

  • Websites not displaying content

    Hello all,
    I've been having issues with browsing on Internet.
    With all my browsers, Chrome, Safari and Firefox, I've got web content that is not displaying and working correctly.
    I think this is due to a Privacy Scan I did a few days ago with the software Privacy Scan. It might have deleted something that helps the computer deal with content on web sites.
    I have a Time Machine back up before I run the Privacy Scan but I don't know what I would need to restore etc. Maybe there is an easier way to install what has been deleted.
    Any help would be welcome.
    Thanks

  • New programs not working and websites not displaying correctly

    I need a little assistance. My older G5 is running Mac OS X (10.3.x), Mac OS X 10.3.9 (7W98) - I don't have the funds to upgrade right now - and during an update to iTunes awhile back the power was accidently cut and then my mess began. ITunes would no longer open,
    I am good with PCs and can pretty much resolve anything on them, but have been absolutely stumped with this. I searched all kinds of troubleshooting and eventually decided to just erase and reinstall Panther hoping that would resolve the issue, iTunes works now, but Safari is not displaying web pages correctly (for instance Facebook is just a stack of words but other sites may look okay), and now any new program I download will not open after I install it like Firefox.
    Any ideas as to how I can resolve this mess?

    You can try do download Onyx, it is a good free Software that will repair many issues that you can have with your Mac. You are running the very last 10.3.x I suppose.

    What this is telling you is that your include files (I'm sorry, I have no way of knowing what they're called because they are processed before I see them) have redundant content, the bold pieces above.
    A page can only have one doctype, html tag, head tag or body tag. Currently, your site has multiples because the include files all have one and it's giving the browsers fits.
    Include files need to be only the html needed for their specific function/section of the page/etc. If the include is for a navigation system, it should only have the navigation code, no doctype, html, head or body tags. If the include is a set of links for the footer of a page, only those <a href="..."> tags and their accompanying text should be in the actual include file.
    Here is a page that might explain it better: http://www.tizag.com/phpT/include.php
    If you truly have zero experience with html, css or php includes, this may be a relatively extreme uphill climb for you.

  • Website not displaying correctly in chrome

    Tonight, I updated muse to v2.1, build 974, cl 770522. I then made a few changes to my website www.drselenasnow.com. When I attempted to display it in chrome, there was a weird doted line on the left side of my website and the coloring of the menus was misaligned. The website looks fine on explorer. Can anyone explain how to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Joe

    Hello,
    I just checked your website on Google chrome and Internet Explorer but could not see any were no dotted line or misaligned coloring when compared to Internet Explorer view of the website.
    Please confirm if the issue is already resolved or it might be specific to your computer. in that case you can test in on some other computer.
    Please have a look at the screenshot of your website in google Chrome :

  • Website not displaying correctly

    Hi,
    Firefox has stopped displaying websites correctly. When I view a certain page it does not longer align images, or show bullet points etc.
    I have gone thorugh all the troubleshooting steps available online like clearing cache and history, starting in safe move. Disabling add-ons, re-installing firefox etc, but nothing helps. Other browsers display my site just fine.
    Its a staging site at the moment for a new website. On the home page for example, there are 4 box areas each with a thumbnail image, which does not align with the text anymore.
    Really hope someone can help me with this issue.
