Links within a page

I'm just getting started so this is pretty basic - how do I put "back to top" links on a page so I can reduce scrolling on long pages (without reloading the page entirely). Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I tried it yesterday and it didn't work for me. I tried the text box with back to top in it and hyperlinked it to the same page that I wanted it to work on, but no luck. There was nowhere for it to go.
The other suggestion of linking to your own external page followed by html# worked, as the page re-loaded and went back to the top. It didn't quite work out as planned though, as I was testing it within iWeb and when I clicked the link it took me to Safari and my already published page and then I wondered why back to top was missing and realised that my demo page in iWeb was not published.

How do you retain links within a page when converting from Microsoft word from a Mac?

Keeping Microsoft Word page links within a document or converting the filed map into bookmarks are not options when you work on a Mac. I subscribe to the Adobe Acrobat Plus service specifically to address that issue. But I can't find any documentation on this site that will walk one through the process. Can someone please direct me to a tutorial page that will allow me to keep my links and convert my bookmarks?

Have you tried using Safari's built-in method to email the content of a web page?
File > Mail Contents of This Page
(Keboard shortcut: Command-I)
If you don't want to email the entire page's content, you can easily edit it in the resulting email window, deleting the portions that you don't want.

Can't select links within web pages

Just got an iPhone. Able to load web pages but once open, cannot now select any links within any web pages. Appeared to be working on Apple page initially but then stopped.

Make sure the page is completely loaded before clicking on anything..
Next use the zoom in feature to get a better angle at it
If these two steps fail try refreshing the page and then trying.

Welcome to Robohelp Forums.
You can use the Hyperlink Feature and link a bookmark, please follow these instructions :
1) Place your cursor at the Destination Point and insert a Bookmark :
2) Give a name to that Bookmark :
3) Select that Text on which the user will click (Right Click -> Insert Hyperlink)
4) Select that Bookmark which you inserted a while ago

When I click on a link within a Web page, Firefox just spins until I reload the new page.

When I enter a new URL or select a bookmark, Firefox loads the page promptly. When I click on a link within that page to go to another page, the Firefox tab green spinner often just spins and spins. It either takes a very long time to load (2 or more minutes), or never finishes loading. It's usually a greater problem when I "Open a link in a new tab". I can usually make the new page appear by reloading, either clicking the red X and the circular arrow, or Ctrl-F5, etc.

If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. <br />

Authorization check for links on a page

We are trying to control whether links on a JSP page are displayed or hidden based on an authorization check.
We've already got the checks working on individual pages but not for the links within a page, because the security framework does not list links as their own Resource.
Is there a way to call the Authorization security provider ourselves, for each link on our JSPs? This call would be outside of the initial security check for the main JSP.

It's not going to be easy without DOM. Parsing HTML is a real pain, since there's all kinds of optional tags and quotation marks (pre-XHTML, that is). That makes any kind of ad-hoc parsing using regular expressions difficult, and less accurate than pulling the entire file into a DOM representation.
Why don't you want to use DOM? Are you just making up silly requirements?
EDIT:
I guess you could use an event-based HTML parser (HTML::Parser in Perl works this way. Is there a Java equivalent?) Set up an event for IMG and A start tags, and extract the href/src attributes there. Finding out if they are valid or not will require either:
1) Simply validate that the URL is well-formed by creating a URL object from it. This won't tell you if the link is active or not
2) Validate the URL by connecting to it with an URLConnection. However, the URL will be marked invalid if the server is down or the URL is otherwise unavailable.

"Mail link to this page" does not search within my exchange account

Hello all,
When I try to e-mail a web page from within Safari using the "Mail link to this page", I only get to search for e-mail addresses in my MobileMe account. Backtracking by clicking the "back arrow" to see all groups and what I assumed would be a possibility to change to my Exchange account only results in an empty window.
if I open the mail program manually and just enter the recipient names there are no cross account search issues. However, this method requires a lot of copy/paste back and forth between Safari and the mail program and is definitely not considered ease of use in my eyes.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a way to fix it? Or do I need to wait for a fix from Apple.

Have not seen this problem with more recent iOS releases. Particularly, the ability to cancel an Email and save it as a Draft would seem to render this moot. Thanks for the feature add.

Links within pages in iWeb

Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but I can't figure out how to create hyperlinks within a page in iWeb. Specifically, I'm trying to write a FAQ, and want to link individual questions listed at the top of the page with their answers further down in the page. Help???

Those are called anchors and not supported by iWeb. Put in a feature request to Apple via http://www.apple.com/feedback/iweb.html.
It can be done with HTML snippets and javascript as Cyclosaurus mentions here: http://widgets.cyclosaurus.com/Anchors/Anchorsfiles/widget0markup.html. But one must be proficient with javascript.
There's a crude workaround with snippets that Peter Berglund describes in his blog: http://web.me.com/petber/iWebtips/iWeb_Tips/Entries/2009/2/22_How_to_use_Anchors_iniWeb.html. This Contents page uses that method for some of it's links - those that are green.
Alternate solutions are with using rollovers like shown in this demo page: Show and Hide Text or using Fancy Zoom shown in the right hand example in this page: FancyZoom You could replace the photo with an image that says Click for Answer" or whatever and have the answer in a jpg file. Both are somewhat low tech solutions.

How to create hypertext links between various text within a Pages document?

I have documents with paragraphs or sentences that are usually numbered like within a constitution, legal document or biblical text and then later in the document want to link back to the text. How do I create those links within Pages?

Not supported with Pages v5.5.2 on Yosemite. Document bookmarks are available in the older, but far more powerful Pages '09 v4.3.

Linking to specific pages within several other pdfs

My source pdf has ~700 references and I need to create a link to each reference (target pdfs). There are hundreds of target pdfs and the source document references different pages within each of the target pdfs. The target pdfs need to contain the entire document and not just the cited pages. What I am doing is creating a link and selecting opening a file. What I am not able to do, is assign a page number to this link so that a certain page will appear instead of page 1. I understand that you can set the initial view with file properties, but that will not work as I would then have to create a pdf for each link and there are far too many references to do that. Here is a sample "Reference at pp. 2, 4, 6." and in this sample I want a separate link for each reference that will go to page 2, page 4 and page 6 (again I need the entire document for reading purposes for these links and not these specific pages).

I am unable to reach the my content page of mysites from the name link within my site collection

For some reason I am no longer able to get to the personal mysites page from within our site collection. My name appears at the top right and it has an option for setting which leads to some minimal page but I can no longer use this to get to the actual
mysites page. Is there a setting I am missing that allows this to happen?

Links within HTMLViewer Information page fail

Using SAP GUI 720 for Windows, I am attempting to load a link from an information page within a transaction (PHAP_CATALOG_PA is one example):

This is an embedded link from an original "information" page showing within the HTML viewer....
When I click on any embedded link, I get a "This program cannot display the webpage" error. This occurs on any page with any embedded link, as far as I can tell.
Can anyone offer any suggestions as to why links fail to load within the HTML viewer?

Multiple Buttons linking to Multiple pages from one movie

Hi All,
I have a flash movie with 3 buttons I am trying to link relativley to pages within my site, I have one working fine but can't get the others to link and when I try it makes the one that is working, work no more..
Below's the code I am using for the one that is working;

I only see code for one button there, so I can only guess you repeat the same function multiple times. You cannot use the same name for different functions, and you cannot have the same function duplicated. Similarly, you cannot declare the same variable more than once. You can have buttons share the same function though, and you can assign new values to variables.
For now, start by creating a unique function definition for each button.
For further consideration, if your buttons happen to be movieclips you can assign the url's to them as variables, or if you name your buttons using the page names they link to, then the same function could be shared with a little generic finagling.
