Links won't open

Hi there,
Really stuck with something...my firefox won't open most links when i click on them. It seems to be more of a problem with the links that are represented by graphics, i.e. a button that says "browse" when going to upload photos.
Sometimes i can right click and choose open link in new tab etc but it doesn't always work. I'm working on a MacBook Pro running on sno leopard and have tried every setting i can find but still no joy.
It must be something to do with the settings rather than a fault, as when i log into my own account on the same mac (instead of my partners) it works fine.
Please could you suggest what i could do to fix this.
Many Thanks
Angie

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
* https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
* Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Some u-tube links won't open

    SOME u-tube links won't open in a mail message. I get a message saying 'an error occurred, try again later'.
    They never open 'later'. Is there a work-around, or do I need a plug-in or something.
    Thanks

    The forum software says you are using Firefox 19, can you update to Firefox 22 and see if this is fixed, is not can you try the super-beta verion of firefox, espically if youve upgraded to 4.3 it may be causing some problems.

  • Link won't open in goddaddy website builder tool

    Links won't open when I try to preview using Go daddy website builder tool. I contacted Go Daddy and they said the tool works as designed on their side and suggested that it may be a browser issue. My question is that is there anything I can do to check my browser settings (i.e. security , etc.) that may correct this issue? I also need to check which version of Firefox is installed, I believe my latest version is 6.0 , not sure?

    Please post the link so we can look it over.

  • Some YouTube links won't open

    Sometimes a YouTube link won't open in a message in Apple Mail. The YouTube window opens when the link is clicked, but after trying to start the movie, says: "an error occurred, please try again later". I checked the finder-window-activity pane as ordered, and there were 6 of about 20 items that said "forbidden" in red letters. It gave no instructions on how to fix them, however.
    These same links open on our MacBook laptop and iPad with no problem! What gives?
    I tried to post this earlier, and got no response after a week. I reformulated the question with more information.
    Thanks

  • Anyone know why pdf links won't open? also- malware has hijacked the downloadable file available when clicking on Adobe's file:

    Changed OS to Mavericks & pdf links from websites won't open. I also had private browsing on  in safari.
    I have acrobat 10.1.10.  I tried to update it when prompted  by auto-updates and it said it can't because  the product has been changed since installed. that can only be the switch to mavericks osx. But it might have prompted me to get version 11 though I only have version 10 & I did the version 10 update in mid-Sept.
    Then, I tried going to adobe.com, searched "upda" and got a list of the cs items with icons, plus two text only links, one was acrobat for mac and the last one, "Update manager update (Mac OS)". It said it is to "resolve a common issue with Adobe Update manager on Mac OS". I cliucked that and got some bogus file. When I hit the button on adobe's site, it shows that the file name should be Adobeupdatemanager403.dmg or something very similar to that. Instead in the download list /box I got " installjdownloader.dmg"  I clicked it once & saw terms of service in which they will switch you to use only their search engine, serve ads, etc. So luckily I didn't install it.
    Does adobe need to investigate this malware problem? Others might search the way I did.
    Anyway, this all started because after installing mavericks, i can't open any pdfs from the web.
    Can anyone help me? Thank you very much in advance.

  • URL Links won't open pages in browser

    Hi, I'm in a Connect session right now, and every time I try to open a link (via a shared powerpoint, or using "Browse To" in a Web Links object, or clicking a url in a chat window) instead of opening a browser page the system tries to download the HTML file and open it for editing.  I'm sure this has something to do with a Flash or Connect setting, but I can't find where to look.  And I can't use the in-Connect Help, because it won't open!    If anyone can help me figure out what's wrong and how I can fix it I'd really appreciate it.

    Hi,
    First of all click Safari/Reset Safari, next click Safari/Preferences/Extensions and turn off extensions. The re-test
    If the problem persists, try using safari in safe mode:
    Use this link to see how to do this:

    If Safari works ok in safe mode, then your problem points to something 3rd party related.

  • E-mail links won't open when Firefox is my default browser, Sup??

    When Firefox is my default browser, links in my e-mail or web sites that open in my e-mail, do not open. Right clicking on the link doesn't do anything for me. When I click on the link the border of the page dims and brightens but no access to the linked page and no error messages. This requires me to use IE as my default browser, that opens links fine, which my whole psychic/genetic makeup abhors. It seems that no one knows what is wrong or how to fix the problem. I tried the chat room but was never able to get through and now it is removed. Is there ANY way to get an answer/solution to this problem?
    PS My XP desktop computer Firefox works fine.

    I still have this problem and now it is starting to affect the browsers functionality and useability. When Firefox is my default browser any link outside of Firefox won't open which is becoming a nuisance. I am running Windows 7 which may be the cause of the problem via a setting but I can't locate the needle in the haystack or it may have happened at a Firefox update. Firefox has been my favorite and only browser since Netscape 1.0 but if I can't resolve this problem I will have to switch to another which I really don't want to do. Help!!!

  • TOC Links won't open New Window, Whole Page

    RoboHelp HTML 11, Internet Explorer 11. Multiscreen HTML5 layout.
    I'm trying to experiment with the different ways of opening links: New Window, Whole Page, Same Frame, etc.
    Yesterday the different variations worked the way they should, but today every link in the TOC opens as if set to "Default (none)".
    As for Links on topic pages, "New Window" opens a new tab, and "Whole Page" seems to go to Default (including the sidebar, which I gather should not be there).
    Any ideas?
    -- Shawn

    Hi,
    Responsive or Multiscreen?
    For the HTML5 version, the frame options for links won't work.
    New Window should open a new tab. That is as expected.
    The rest will work like a regular link.
    The frame options really are just for WebHelp only. And only the new window and whole page make any sense.
    Kind regards,
    Willam

  • PLS files as web links won't open in ITunes; still say Winamp

                                                                                                                   Hello.  I apologize if this has been answered, but I searched to the best of my ability, and none of the answers I saw applied to this question.  They all seem to say that I should set ITunes up as my default Internet music player, but that option doesn't seem to exist any more.  I've seen things that tell me to go to  preferences -> advanced -> general, but that general tab isn't there any more.  I can't find a setting for "internet music player", so I thought I'd ask here.   I recently uninstalled Winamp because of various annoyances, knowing that ITunes can do everything it could do and more.  However, now, pls links won't play from either IE9 or Firefox.  I can download the pls file and play it that way by just double clicking it.  I've used the "Default Programs" method recommended for Windows 7 to make ITunes the default player for these files, and it works perfectly until I try to click on a web link.  When I save the pls file, the "File Type" combo box to the right of the file name edit box says "Winamp .pls file".  I'm guessing that the browsers are checking some other area and are finding Winamp as the pls player, trying to find it, failing, and returning to the web page with no error.  How can I fix this?  ITunes works perfectly except for web links.  I can't tell by trying other files because I have plugins that play all the other files I have found.  How do I make ITunes do this?

    Hi, Ed2345.  I apologize for clicking the "Correct Answer" button accidentally.  Firefox already has ITunes listed as the default player for "Winamp playlist files" which are .pls files.  I've gone to a few radio stations, some with AAC streams and some with mp3 streams and the results have been the same.  ITunes should be starting for these Winamp playlist files, but that's not happening.  How can I add the equivalent of a file extension setting in the browser?  These seem to be organized by MIME type.  Can I add an extension handler, or perhaps is there a MIME type missing?  If so, how do I add it in Firefox?  I don't see a "New" button.
    V/R,
    Brad

  • Link won't open after upgrading to version 3.1

    Link doesn't open in Safari version3.1
    But it works "Open Link in New Tap." why is that?

    I have the same problem. Tried to disable popupblocker, no change of behaviour. Tried to disable the adblock addon, no change in behaviour.
    The rightclick and open in new tab/window only work for direct links. When the link is pointing to a java script that is supposed to open a new window, nothing works...

  • SWF links won't open in Dreamweaver preview

    Hi,
    I'm kinda new to flash and feeling my way around things, but I've run into a snag and haven't found an answer on any forums yet.
    I've created a navigation bar for a website using movie clips with nested animation and I made those movie clips links to different pages in my website.
    When I preview the file in Flash CS3, the links work fine. However, when I preview the SWF file in the the webpage built in dreamweaver, the links won't act like links anymore.
    This is my code to handle the link:
    var urlRequest:URLRequest =
        new URLRequest('iengine.html');
    ielink.addEventListener
        (MouseEvent.MOUSE_UP, gotoLinkHandler);
    function gotoLinkHandler(evt:MouseEvent):void{
        navigateToURL(urlRequest,'_self');
    Am I making a common mistake? Or is there something else I need to help flash integrate with dreamweaver?
    Thanks so much for any help!

    You need to name the links in the Flash file as if it were living in the same folder as the html file that holds it... essentially because when you load it into that file, that file becomes its relative reference for loading/targeting.

    I'm developing a Wordpress site on a live server and started to test the email links and I discovered none of them open my Outlook 2011. I'm on a iMac using OSX 10.6.8 and Firefox 9.0.1
    Will people visiting the site have the same issue?
    If so is there a universal solution so my client won't lose business due to this issue?
