Links Work in iWeb but ONLY Header Links when Published.

Strange but true. I have set links on the page and in the header. But when I publish to a folder the links on the welcome page don't work but in the header do. It doesn't matter if they are text or graphic. I have copied the links to other pages and sometimes they do work on these other pages.
Any ideas?????

I had this problem and found that some of my text boxes were covering the links. Click on to Show Layout in View and you should be able to see where your text boxes are. On saying that mine were – no colour and no line – so they don't really show up. Just make sure all boxes are sent to back of links.

  • Links work in iWeb, but not from browser when published

    http://web.me.com/mocote
    All's well since August. Then yesterday, some links decide not to work anymore in browser. Can't create new ones either. What changed? In iWeb, all links look fine in the Inspector. You can click on all external links and file links in iWeb. Same links won't work in browser. Very frustrated. Please help.

    Hello!
    Thank you for checking my pages. I did clear the cache. Updated software. Repaired permissions. Rebooted (a million times). I also made sure I had no overlapping graphics. The problem appears to be on the pages linked from This Week (in the navigation bar), the pages are Probability and Measures of Central Tendency. The links are in Text Boxes with frames on them.
    I tried viewing the pages using Safari on my iBook, on an iMac using Safari and on a PC using Firefox. I get the same links not working. It's just odd that they appear to function "normally" in iWeb. I was hoping I did something dumb that I could fix quickly. If not, I'm having to do the pages over.
    Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.

  • Link works in iweb but not after it's published

    It only just started after I added a shape (I made sure to send it backward and whatnot). Anyways, yeah, the link works when I click it in iWeb but refuses to work when it's published. How can I fix this?

    Nevermind. I fixed it.

  • Links work in iweb, but do not publish

    NOW the "post new topic" shows! Links made in iweb to external webpages work in iweb, but do not work when I publish to my folder or upload them to my server for my website. The links to other pages within iweb & the email links work in my folder & uploaded. I have redone my page & all links several times & it always works in iweb, but then don't work in the folder when I publish or upload. Even links that start with http:// don't work & my setting are correct for it to recognize them. Thanks so much for any help.

    I don't understand. When I made the page the first time, I put the pics on it (page is 1270 pixels wide & fits on my 17" monitor & displays fine in iweb & when I go to the website). & then made the text boxes & sized them to fit around the pics & typed the text in. I tried doing the "wrap" in inspector, but the type just went over the pics & didn't wrap around it. I put the links for the ffrco, nuvet, email & menu in separate "insert link" boxes. The other links were from a copy & paste from the Nuvet website. All links worked perfect while in iweb. but only the email & menu links worked when I published to the folder & uploaded them. iweb is way different to use than Pagemill3, which is what I created my original website on 6 1/2 years ago. But my first computer melted down inside & I don't have the program that created it & the new computer won't take the software that worked on OS 8.6, so have to do the whole website now from scratch & having a terrible time. There are other issues, but the links thing is the most frustrating.
    When I redid the page again, I copied & pasted the whole page onto a new page that I had sized & added the background to. The links all worked in iweb & when they didn't work when published to the folder or uploaded, I rechecked the web addresses for all the links & even reentered them, though they were the correct links already in there.
    When I made my homepage, I made it to fit a 15" monitor, so anybody could see my website without scrolling. A good friend told me I had the last 15" monitor still in use & to make it fit my 17", so I did.
    Thanks so much for looking at it. I really appreciate all your help. I have printed the manuel & been reading that & going to the Help section & I just can't figure it out.

  • Links work in iWeb, but not in browser

    Using a blank template. established a photoshop background and placed transparent rectangles over the images and linked the rectangles. In iWeb (1.1.2), they work fine. but they do not work in the browser. I noticed a problem someone had by accidentally creating "floating" boxes. I have reworked all of my links with no luck. Help!!!

    I answered your question yesterday:

    Nothing has changed.
    The footer of the page covers the links.
    The links themselves are 0x0 pixels. The shape-images are 1x1 pixels.
    Whether or not links work in iWeb is irrelvant. They should work in the browser.
    Check, check, check.

  • Links work in iWeb but not on web

    I created a site (http://www.busybeetrader.com) in iWeb 1.2.2 and uploaded using Cyberduck FTP software. The links work in iWeb when I un-check the option to make them inactive. Once I upload my site, several of the links don't work. This has occurred multiple times.
    I am also having problems with missing links to files. I open iWeb and get an error list of missing links. It includes pictures and PDF documents, mostly under the blog sections (Editorials).
    Any help any one can give me would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • Why does Time Machine not work over wifi but only via ethernet cable ?

    Hi everyone,
    It's been some time I have this problem now.
    The first time I backed up my mac within Time Capsule with time machine, I chose to use the ethernet cable because the gigabit connection is much faster than the wifi for the first back up, but now, any time I want to update this back up, I need to connect the cable, cause "Time Machine can not connect to the Drive I picked" over wifi.
    This is so annoying. Does anyone have a similar issue ?
    Any solution ?
    When I got this "error" I can use Utility Airport and get full access to the drive, even in finder. The only thing that doesn't work is TimeMachine connecting to the drive, even if it is detected by TimeMachine itself.
    Thanks.

    Typical Yosemite.
    I suggest a full reconfigure of the TC.
    Follow this list..
    No files are deleted on the TC doing this although you might have to repoint your laptop to the backup.
    Note.. even if TM does connect it will say it is going to do a new backup.. it is only when it starts that it discovers the backup exists and increments it.
    Start from a factory reset. No files are lost on the hard disk doing this.
    Factory reset universal
    Power off the TC.. ie pull the power cord or power off at the wall.. wait 10sec.. hold in the reset button.. be gentle.. power on again still holding in reset.. and keep holding it in for another 10sec. You may need some help as it is hard to both hold in reset and apply power. It will show success by rapidly blinking the front led. Release the reset.. and wait a couple of min for the TC to reset and come back with factory settings. If the front LED doesn’t blink rapidly you missed it and simply try again. The reset is fairly fragile in these.. press it so you feel it just click and no more.. I have seen people bend the lever or even break it. I use a toothpick as tool.
    N.B. None of your files on the hard disk of the TC are deleted.. this simply clears out the router settings of the TC.
    Setup the TC again.
    Then redo the setup from the computer with Yosemite.
    1. Use very short names.. NOT APPLE RECOMMENDED names. No spaces and pure alphanumerics.
    eg TCgen5 for basestation and and TCwifi wireless name.
    If the issue is wireless use TC24ghz and TC5ghz with fixed channels as this also seems to help stop the nonsense. But this can be tried in the second round. ie plan on a first and second round of changes to fix this.. hopefully.. I will point out other steps that can be round2.
    2. Use all passwords that also comply with 1. but can be a bit longer. ie 8-20 characters mixed case and numbers.. no non-alphanumerics.
    3. If the TC is main router you can skip this point. This is only an issue when the TC is bridged.
    Ensure the TC always takes the same IP address.. you will need to do this on the main router using dhcp reservation.. or a bit more complex setup using static IP in the TC. But this is important.. having IP drift all over the place when Yosemite cannot remember its own name for 5 min after a reboot makes for poor networking.
    4. Check your share name on the computer is not changing.. make sure it also complies with the above.. short no spaces and pure alphanumeric.. but this change will mess up your TM backup.. so be prepared to do a new full backup. Sorry.. keep this one for second round if you want to avoid a new backup.
    5. Mount the TC disk in the computer manually.
    In Finder, Go, Connect to server from the top menu,
    Type in SMB://192.168.0.254 (or whatever the TC ip is which you have now made static. As a router by default it is 10.0.1.1 and I encourage people to stick with that unless you know what you are doing).
    You can use name.. SMB://TCgen5.local where you replace TCgen5 with your TC name.. local is the default domain of the TC and doesn't change.
    However names are not so easy as IP address.. nor as reliable. At least not in Yosemite they aren't. The domain can also be an issue if you are not plugged or wireless directly to the TC.
    6. Make sure IPv6 is set to link-local only in the computer. For example wireless open the network preferences, wireless and advanced / TCP/IP.. and fix the IPv6. to link-local only. Do the same for ethernet if you use it.
    There is a lot more jiggery pokery you can try but the above is a good start.. if you find it still unreliable.. don't be surprised.
    You might need to do some more work on the computer itself. eg Reset the PRAM.. has helped some people. Clean install of the OS is also helpful if you upgrade installed.
    Tell us how you go.
    Someone posted a solution.. See this thread.
    Macbook can't find Time Capsule anymore
    Start from the bottom and work up.. I have a list of good network practice changes but I have avoided Yosemites bug heaven.
    Yosemite has serious DNS bug in the networking application.. here is the lets say more arcane method of fixing it by doing a network transplant from mavericks.

  • DVD@cess not working on DVD but only simulator

    Hello:
    Tried many times to get this to work, finally got DVD SP 2 in simulator to automatically open pdf folder when a certain menu is selected...but when I burned a DVD, though the folders are there on the disc (one folder but many pdfs in it), it doesn't launch at all when menu is selected - have to manually click on them after opening the DVD...how can this work correctly? This doesn't work either on MAC or PC.
    Thanks much
    KB

    Thanks very much for the reply - details are... this DVD (called DVD for test purposes) has @ccess enabled in both DVD SP 2 simulator and DVD player on the MAC G5...have 3 menus, home menu has 3 button choices -
    •a track
    •a menu that should launch the folder with 5 other folders in it, each of them containing 1 to 3 pdfs in them
    •one menu that is to launch a web site.
    The web site menu DOES launch correctly in simulator on a build/burn of DVD.img...and on the DVD itself.
    Problem is - in simulator the link to the one folder with the 5 folders in it (containing 12 pdfs) DOES work, ie the menu launches a pop up window that lets the viewer see the 5 folders available...they could then choose which one to open...However, when build/burn either a DVD.img (on my desktop) or a DVD, though the web site link menu DOES work, the menu with the pdfs folders does not launch either on the G5 or PC laptop.
    I understand that the PC business is "if-y" at best, but wonder why even the G5 won't do this?
    Links look like this - menu to launch the pdfs folder -
    DVD@ccess = checked...name = many pdfs...URL = file:///dvd/IWICS artwork...everything spelled correctly, etc.
    DVD-ROM = content -checked...location = users/kentbeeson/desktop/4DVD...Joliet Extension Support = checked
    Have I got wrong info in my file paths to where it'll work in simulator but not on DVD?
    Thanks for help

  • Edge animation works in browser preview from edge and muse but not in chrome when published

    I have an Edge animation that worked fine in Chrome, Safari and IE.
    The last time I published my Muse site (To BC) again (since update to CC2014) it no longer worked in Chrome!
    Preview in browser (Chrome) from edge works, preview in browser (Chrome) from Muse works, publish and it doesn't work in Chrome (but does in Safari and IE).
    Have been trawling for possibilities but I'm not that web techy! Any help would be appreciated

    I don't remember specifically what fixed it at all as I'd done all of the following:
    Removed Muse and Edge and prefs
    Updated Muse and Edge
    trashed cache in Chrome
    copied the contents of the Edge project / stage into a new project and saved as cc2014 version
    re-published the whole site from Muse
    After many attempts it started working again but I can't say that it was one thing in particular - sorry about that.

  • Rollovers work in iweb - but not online

    I have created a website in iweb with several hyperlinks just by highlighting a line of text and making it a link. The normal,rollover and visited colors work fine in iweb. However, once I go online to see my page the rollover color does not show when I hover over the link. The problem only exists on one page in a few text boxes but everywhere else the rollovers work. Any ideas on how to fix this problem? Could it have to do with the font?

    Thanks so much everyone!!
    OT: I will definitely try out a test page. Thx!
    Fineligh: Thank you! My boss actually designed it and I've been building most of it out. iWeb is super fun.
    Mark: I checked and I did not make the actual boxes a hyperlink - just the client names.
    Jeff: Each red client name is fully selected and activated as a hyperlink. But thanks for the advice - sometimes the most simple thing is what sets everything out of whack.
    jcerno: In iWeb open your Inspector window (which you can find in your bottom menu bar). Once you open the Window there are icons on the top - click on the arrow. There you can enable images or text as a hyperlink and format the colors/rollovers. If you're not using iWeb than I'm not sure I can be of much help - I'm still new at learning web design. I'm a print person 100%! Good luck.

  • Using document.getElementById to change an element size works in iWeb but not when site published

    I am trying to use an HTML snippet to construct a "popup" to show explanatory text on iWeb windows. This is the code:
    <div id="divName"></div>
    <style type="text/css">
    /*<![CDATA[*/
    #divName {
         border:solid 0px #000;
         text-align:left;
    /*//]]>*/
    </style>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    //<![CDATA[
    function mouseOver()
        var el=document.getElementById("divName");
                       el.style.width=400+"px";
                       el.style.height= 200+"px";
                       el.style.margin="auto";
                           el.style.backgroundColor="#ffffff";
              el.innerHTML="this is a bit of text, and this is some more";
    function mouseOut()
        var el=document.getElementById("divName");
                       el.style.width=80+"px";
                       el.style.height= 20+"px";
                       el.style.margin="auto";
              el.innerHTML=" ";
                           el.style.backgroundColor="";
    window.onload=mouseOut;
    window.onmouseover=mouseOver;
    window.onmouseout=mouseOut;
    //]]>
    </script>
    This works o.k. when tested inside iWeb. When the mouse is rolled over the element it is enlarged, the background colour changed and the text displayed. However, when I publish the site the background colour changes and the text is displayed BUT the size of the element remains set to the size set in the "mouseOut" function. On one occasion after publishing it did actually work, but mostly it doesn't!
    What am I doing wrong?
    Incidentally, when testing under iWeb, the mouseOut function sometimes doesn't shrink the element back to its original size. Mostly it does, but when it doesn't the background has still been made transparent and the text removed. It only appears to be the height and width functions that are failing!

    Here's how I started :
    http://www.wyodor.net/Ajax/Ajax.html
    But to avoid having to edit the page after editing the iWeb page, i figured out a way to do it with a JavaScript :
    http://www.wyodor.net/mfi/Maaskant/How_To.html
    The magic word is : unique word. Then replace it with your own code.
    Then I advanced it a bit to this :

    And here's an explanation what the HTML Snippet does :

    You may have to learn HTML/CSS/JavaScript/DOM/AJAX and how iWeb creates its pages.

  • Split tunnel works... but only for one IP

    Hi All,
    Dealing with a really frustrating problem. Our setup, roughly, is as follows:
    - We have a remote access VPN that users connect to with any connect; in turn, they are assigned a local LAN address: 10.1.11.192-10.1.11.200
    - We have a site-to-site VPN that connects to Amazon AWS to access 10.0.249.0 and other subnets, and now certain hosts on the Amazon *public* network (e.g, 54.1.2.3). This is done via a split tunnel.
    What we're seeing is this:
    - Users connect to the VPN and are assigned one of the addresses above. Let's use 10.1.11.192 for this example.
    - They can then access anything in the 10.0.249.0 subnet (via the split tunnel) just fine. This goes across both ASA devices.
    - They can then access anything in the public Amazon network (via the split tunnel) just fine. This should only use the remote access ASA.
    So, it seemed like everything was working. When connected to the VPN, Amazon hosts in both 10.x.x.x networks and public IPs that I had specifically tunneled (we plan to transition these to a VPC soon) were accessible, and access happened via the remote access VPN IP (i.e, when connecting to 54.1.2.3, it showed the user being logged in from the Cisco's gateway's IP address, as opposed to the local client IP).
    Now, here's where things got weird: *public* tunneled hosts at Amazon only works with the first address in the pool, 10.1.11.192. No other addresses work. 10.0.249.x is always available, regardless of assigned IP. 54.x.y.z is only available with .192.
    I've used the same computer with different assigned IPs (10.1.11.193-10.1.11.200), and none work. I've connected using different computers.. they work if assigned .192, but not any other addresses. Other users report the same issue.
    TCP handshaking is failing
    I'll use our IRC server (and sometimes ssh server) for testing. I can see my client laptop with a SYN_SENT on that specific connection. I can see the IRC server with a SYN_RECV, and the ASA shows a SYN timeout after 30 seconds. Thus, it looks as though packets from the IRC server can't make their way back through the ASA to my client laptop.
    I suspect this has something to do with dynamic vs. static NAT, etc., but I've fiddled with every setting I can, and coming up blank.
    I'm also baffled as to why .192 works, but no other addresses do.
    I've attached our configuration, minus keys and passwords and certain IPs/hostnames. It's a little bit ugly because it has some poor attempts at fixing this, things I'll probably remove after it works, but.. Could it have anything to do with TCP sequence randomization?
    Thank you in advance for any help.

    Hi Jouni! Thank you so much for your quick reply. Mine was delayed because I've continued to fight the ASA this afternoon! Apologies for my verbosity, always found it better to include too much info than too little!
    To clarify, ideally, a VPN client that connects to this ASA (10.1.11.5) should have three possible destinations:
    - The internet at large - this should not go through the ASA, but should go through the client's own gateway, bypassing this VPN entirely. This works.
    - My servers in an Amazon VPC (10.0.249.x and some others) - this should come in to this ASA (10.1.11.5), which in turn is already successfully routed to another ASA (10.1.11.4 in the config). This works, too.
    - My servers at Amazon AWS that are on the public internet (example below: 107.22.xxx.yyy). This should only involve the one ASA in question (10.1.11.5). This is where I'm running into issues.
    The split tunnel, thus, includes the networks 10.0.249.x and specific public AWS hosts like 107.22.xxx.yyy, etc. I want 10.0.249.x to go to Amazon via the other ASA 10.1.11.4 (again, this works) and I want 107.22.xxx.yyy, etc. to go to Amazon via *this* ASA (10.1.11.5). Basically, it's this last part that's causing problems: it works only one in very, very narrow situation: when the client is assigned the address 10.1.11.192. If a user logs in and is assigned any other address, they won't be able to access the "public" AWS servers.
    I began by taking your advice and moving the IP assignment to an entirely different subnet: 10.1.12.100-10.1.12.200. I then spent a decent chunk of the afternoon adjusting NAT rules (and removing ACLs, per your suggestion). The only brief success I had was when I had about a bajillion NAT rules, and somehow I made it on to the IRC server! Oddly, my connection used the ASA's address itself, rather than the ASA gateway's address. Unfortunately, I stopped being able to reach 10.0.249.x at the time :/ I tried to adjust further, but cannot restore/recall what the NAT rules were.
    I'm miffed because 10.1.11.192 works, and *nothing* else does. There is nothing special about this address in the config - I've tried everything I can to figure out why this one address is different. I've also looked in places that *shouldn't* matter because this bypasses the VPC entirely (AWS security groups, AWS iptables rules, VPC options, etc.)
    Again, the behavior of 10.1.11.193-200 is a partial TCP handshake: the local computer sees SYN_SENT, and the remote server has SYN_RECV, but no connection is ultimately established. This is why I think it could be a NAT issue, but I'm obviously a bit lost here Here's a sample connection attempt, with DNS traffic removed:

    Any suggestions? I have already installed the latest update to iWeb.
