Linksys and DDNS: no alternatives: dyndns / TZO or die ?

hi all,
i`m rellay disappointed about linksys. dyndns and tzo now one company. Why is linksys not implemting freeware hoster or at least a field for custom implementation like others have ? What is the reason of your strategie ? the NSA to keep only USA hoster in your drop down menu ?
@ dd-wrt i have seen, WIP (work in progress) for EA2700. Is that the only on solution to wait, or have anybody any interims solution for me ? i want to connect Win7 workstation for remote access.

Installing a third party firmware for your Linksys router is not recommended and will void its warranty. I guess Linksys is doing their best to allow small business, associations and individuals to host a website, email system, FTP site and more, on their own servers at their own locations wether they have a static or dynamic IP address. Teaming up with TZO.com by far is the best resolution to ensure reliability.

  • A new IMac, old xp pc, Linksys and a new Hp All in one...now what?

Someone please point me in the right direction. I need to share all the functions of the HP all in one, printing and scanning with my new mac and old xp PC. Sharing files will be nice as well. At this point all will be hardwired. I may add a PC notebook wirelessly in the future. The Imac and the pc are hardwired to the router ( Linksys WRT54G Version 2). At this point I can access the internet fine. The printer HP CM1312nfi MFP is still in the box.
What do I do next. My router is out of warrantee and Linksys will not help. Apple care tells me to call Linksys and HP says the same.
I need a simple step by step guide that I can understand. I have been searching the internet for days and I simply give up?
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Linksys and maxpower

    Hi,
I bought a linksys WRT54G to make a wireless connection from my G5 to my G4 quicksilver / Mac OSX10.4.11 computer.
The Linksys router is currently connected to my G5.
Since the linksys PCI adapters are not compatible with Apple , I wanted to buy the Maxpower 802.11n/G/b Wireless PCI adapter for my G4.
Now, are the linksys and the maxpower compatible with each other?
(I already have the Linksys router otherwise I would have got the Maxpower router)
    thanks

    Hi-
    Welcome to Discussions!
The MaxPower PCI adapter and Linksys router should work fine together.

you cannot take stock report with alternate UoM. Alternate UoM is for "ORDERING" purpose only and not for SKU.

Your post doesn't really make sense, because if all you had to do was reset the iPhone, they would have helped you do that at the Apple Store.
Are you sure "reset" is the correct verb - that "reset" is exactly what they told you to do?
Anyway, you reset the iPhone by holding the home and on/off buttons together for about 10 seconds till the Apple logo appears.

I do not know what you are waiting for.
I'd make a backup of your important stuff before cloning the entire disk.
Carbon Copy Cloner will copy your startup drive to an external  firewire drive.  You can boot from the external drive to verify that you have a good clone. When you upgrade your existing startup drive, you can at any time boot from your external drive and go back to your existing system.

SuperDuper is the wildly acclaimed program that makes recovery painless, because it makes creating a fully bootable backup painless. Its incredibly clear, friendly interface is understandable, easy to use, and SuperDuper's built-in scheduler makes it trivial to back up automatically. And it runs beautifully on both Intel and Power PC Macs!

  • Linksys EA6700 and DDNS

I bought a Linksys EA6700. I wonder why the Dynamic DNS service NO-IP is not supported. This is one of the best free DDNS providers. The two that support (DynDNS and TZO) both have no free accounts anymore.

I notice that for Linksys Smart Wifi routers, one cannot access the domain name when you are accessing it within the network. I suppose it is for security reasons that Linksys designed their newer router versions for that reason. You might want to check this link that I have shared also in another post, about DNS Rebinding:  http://blog.trendmicro.com/trendlabs-security-intelligence/protecting-your-router-against-possibl-dn....

  • WRT600N and DDNS

I have been notified by Dyndns.org that my WRT600N router is trying to update my account too many times when the IP address has not changed. This is what they told me. "Your account has been blocked for abuse. This action has been taken due to the receipt of multiple updates originating from the same IP address. Updates which result in no change to the host are abusive."
Has anyone had this problem with their router and the DDNS side of it? LINKSYS, look into this with your next firmware update!!!!
For the time being, I've turned the DDNS off in the router and gone back to a software based updater.
    John

I had the same issue with the ddns feature in my WRT600N
, and Dyndns.org shut me down also. I wonder how many more bugs does it have?

  • Linksys and Mail

Can't send any mail, everything else works fine (rec mail, browser etc.). This is the message that I get- "This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
The connection to the server "smtp.comcast.net" on port 25 timed out.". Use a Linksys router BEFSR81. Thanks for any help.
P.S. It is happening on both computers.

To cut down on spam most ISPs are no longer allow passing mail through on Ports 25 & 110 for a different destinations than there own, and several of the big ones seem to mess with it on a weekly basis.
    Some Mail Port info...
    http://www.emailaddressmanager.com/tips/mail-servers.html
    The email ports are:
    IMAP is port 143
    IMAP-SSL is port 993
    POP is port 110
    POP-SSL is port 995
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.

  • IP Port Forwarding Setup WRT54G3G-ST and DDNS

I am setting up a remotely managed network. I can reach the router fine from the internet but I cannot reach the bridge or the camera through the internet.  On the local network I can "see" or ping every device just fine.  Other routers I have used have a local and global port setting.  It isn't clear to me how this router should be set up.  I have set up static IP addresses for each of the devices.  I am using  DDNS access to the internet that creates another possible factor.
Below is the "Port range forwarding" setting that I have used-  I have tried my hand with the port triggering but it wasn't clear how that applied to what I am trying to accomplish.

The port forwardings look good. You forward port 8580 on the WAN IP address of the router to the local computer 172.16.0.2 and port 1010 to 172.16.0.11.
There are a few possible problems:
    1. the router is not connected directly to the internet. If you run the router behind another (gateway) router this won't work. You have to configure the same port forwardings on the first router as well and forward everything to the second router. To check what kind of setup you have, look on the Status tab. If your internet connection IP address is a private IP address, you are not directly connected to the internet.
    2. firewalls on the server devices may block traffic.
    3. the server may not like NATed requests. For example, depending on your configuration a web server running at 172.16.0.11 may not accept a request coming in for an internet address a.b.c.d which happens to be your router's internet IP address.
For a start I would check if the servers are running properly by opening a connection through telnet. From a command prompt window run
    telnet 172.16.0.11 1010
inside your LAN. It should open a connection. Type in anything until you see a reaction and usually the server will prompt with an error and close the connection.
Then test the same again from the internet with the IP address of the router.
    telnet a.b.c.d 1010
(a.b.c.d being your internet IP address) If everything works correct, it should work like before. If not, you'll get an error message either immediately or after a time out. The exact error would be good to know for further troubleshooting.

  • Linksys and NetGear Powerline Adapters

I am wanting to improve my powerline adapters and before I purchase I want to make sure if the Linksys Homeplug AV2 Powerline Kit (PLEK500)  and the NetGear Powerline 500Mpbs 4-Port Network Adapter Kit (XAVB5004)  can be used on with WRT610n router? The Powerlines will be in two different level locations in my home.

Hi, Cowboybutch. The PLEK500 will work with WRT610N as long as you will connect the adapter to the same circuit breaker. I found an article regarding this adapter that might help you get to know more about this device. • LinkSys and CCM5

    Hello
Do i need third party license to register Linksys SIP phone with CCM5?
    Thanx
    Vlad

    Hi Vlad,
    My understanding of adding Third Party SIP Phones is that you just need the normal License units on CCM 5. Have a look at the following;
Add and configure the third-party SIP phone by choosing Third-party SIP Device (Advanced) or (Basic) from the Add a New Phone Configuration window.
Note Third-party SIP Device (Basic) supports one line and consumes three license units, and Third-party SIP Device (Advanced) supports up to eight lines and video, and consumes six license units.
    From this doc;
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_administration_guide_chapter09186a00806b13c1.html
    Hope this helps!
