Linksys and HP5850
Hi.
I just bought a new wireless router Cisco linksys that support G and N network. Im trying to make work an hold printer HP5850 over wired or wireless network.
But none of the 2 option is working.
It was working on my wired router a netgear one.
Wired:
When connected to a wired cable on the linksys router, i got an ip address but a wrong one. i stick to the old one 192.168.0.3. the subnet is wrong. It should be 192.168.1.xxx
I can add the printer in the printer controle panel and it see the printer but wont let me print.
Wireless:
The printer and the router doesnt see each other. on the configuration page of the printer the status is at initializing and wireless status is at scanning
is there a way to put the printer at initial coniguration set up (factory configuration)?
Im on mac OSX 10.4.11
The Linksys Business Series brand has transitioning to the Cisco Small Business brand. This is only a brand change. The Linksys Business Series products will continue to be sold and supported as they are today. We are not discontinuing any products just because the new name is Cisco Small Business.
Because of the number of products in our portfolio, we have elected to do rebranding in phases, so you will continue to see Linksys Business Series name on some product for probably until the end of the calendar year, possibly longer.
The key thing with this transition is that Cisco Small Business is committed to the same value proposition as Linksys Business Series. We understand the need for easy-to-use devices, with business class reliability, and at a value price. Our group will continue to focus in this area , but also leverage some of the best practices at Cisco to make our products easier to use, higher performance and more reliable.

Someone please point me in the right direction. I need to share all the functions of the HP all in one, printing and scanning with my new mac and old xp PC. Sharing files will be nice as well. At this point all will be hardwired. I may add a PC notebook wirelessly in the future. The Imac and the pc are hardwired to the router ( Linksys WRT54G Version 2). At this point I can access the internet fine. The printer HP CM1312nfi MFP is still in the box.
What do I do next. My router is out of warrantee and Linksys will not help. Apple care tells me to call Linksys and HP says the same.
I need a simple step by step guide that I can understand. I have been searching the internet for days and I simply give up?
Please help.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
I bought a linksys WRT54G to make a wireless connection from my G5 to my G4 quicksilver / Mac OSX10.4.11 computer.
The Linksys router is currently connected to my G5.
Since the linksys PCI adapters are not compatible with Apple , I wanted to buy the Maxpower 802.11n/G/b Wireless PCI adapter for my G4.
Now, are the linksys and the maxpower compatible with each other?
(I already have the Linksys router otherwise I would have got the Maxpower router)
thanksHi-
Welcome to Discussions!
The MaxPower PCI adapter and Linksys router should work fine together. -
Can't send any mail, everything else works fine (rec mail, browser etc.). This is the message that I get- "This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered.
The connection to the server "smtp.comcast.net" on port 25 timed out.". Use a Linksys router BEFSR81. Thanks for any help.
P.S. It is happening on both computers. To cut down on spam most ISPs are no longer allow passing mail through on Ports 25 & 110 for a different destinations than there own, and several of the big ones seem to mess with it on a weekly basis.
Some Mail Port info...
http://www.emailaddressmanager.com/tips/mail-servers.html
The email ports are:
IMAP is port 143
IMAP-SSL is port 993
POP is port 110
POP-SSL is port 995
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users. -
Linksys and NetGear Powerline Adapters
I am wanting to improve my powerline adapters and before I purchase I want to make sure if the Linksys Homeplug AV2 Powerline Kit (PLEK500) and the NetGear Powerline 500Mpbs 4-Port Network Adapter Kit (XAVB5004) can be used on with WRT610n router? The Powerlines will be in two different level locations in my home.
Hi, Cowboybutch. The PLEK500 will work with WRT610N as long as you will connect the adapter to the same circuit breaker. I found an article regarding this adapter that might help you get to know more about this device. Hello
Do i need third party license to register Linksys SIP phone with CCM5?
Thanx
VladHi Vlad,
My understanding of adding Third Party SIP Phones is that you just need the normal License units on CCM 5. Have a look at the following;
Add and configure the third-party SIP phone by choosing Third-party SIP Device (Advanced) or (Basic) from the Add a New Phone Configuration window.
Note Third-party SIP Device (Basic) supports one line and consumes three license units, and Third-party SIP Device (Advanced) supports up to eight lines and video, and consumes six license units.
From this doc;
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/voicesw/ps556/products_administration_guide_chapter09186a00806b13c1.html
Hope this helps!

Ok here's my problem. I am currently set up on my PC for linksys router wireless, of which I have no problem doing. I cannot install any of the files onto my iBook, because they are all .exe files, which it doesn't recognize. But it also cannot find any of the wireless networks, even sitting next to the PC. Is there any way that linksys works with Macs? I can't figure any of this out, and no matter what I look up, I can't understand any of it. Any simple terms as to why this isn't working? Oh, and my PC is hooked up to wireless using an adapter, if that has anything to do with it.
-AmandaHi Amanda and Welcome to Apple's Discussions!
To take your problems one at a time...
Ok here's my problem. I am currently set up on my PC
for linksys router wireless, of which I have no
problem doing. I cannot install any of the files onto
my iBook, because they are all .exe files, which it
doesn't recognize.
Your iBook (or any Mac) won't 'run' .exe files, they are 'programs' for Windows. If you post back with the specific Windows programs that you want to run, someone will be able to tell you what the equivalent Mac Application is
But it also cannot find any of the
wireless networks, even sitting next to the PC. Is
there any way that linksys works with Macs?
Yes, Linksys will work with Macs.
I can't figure any of this out, and no matter what I look up,
I can't understand any of it. Any simple terms as to
why this isn't working?
Before going into setting it up with wifi, has your iBook got an Airport card? I see that you are running your iBook with Panther (10.3.9) which suggest that it is an older iBook. iBooks haven't always had Airport cards fitted as standard. I had to have mine fitted as an optional extra.
Oh, and my PC is hooked up to
wireless using an adapter, if that has anything to do
with it.
Unlikely.
Post back with some more information as to how you are trying to connect to your Linksys router. Make sure that you have an Airport card too. if you are not sure, click on the Apple top left of your screen, select 'About this Mac', then 'More Info'. Under 'Network' you will see Airport Card, click on it and if you have got one it will give information about it. If you haven't it will say "No information found" or something similar.
Have fun!

Linksys and wireless capabilities with Mac
Hey everybody. I recently started a new job and use wireless internet through my Mac. The problem is that when I try to connect to the linksys router that we have, I see the name and I know the right password but it either tells me it's the wrong password (which it isn't - or is there a way I can find out for sure what the password is??) or it gives me the error message. What can I do to get this thing working???
Thanks!
MacBook Mac OS X (10.4.8)Some suggestions for you...
Try temporarily removing passwords and encryption from the router. Can you connect like that? Also if you plug an ethernet cable between the 2 do you have any success.
I'd also go onto the Linksys web site and have a look for any firmware updates for your router. Mine wouldn't work wirelessly until it was patched. -
I have Verizon DSL and have been using a Netgear wireless router for years, but was going to install a Linksys WRT54G. It doesn't seem to get the DHCP address. I have another linksys router I was going to test with but that also doesn't work. My netgear products work fine straight out of the box...what's the deal with linksys!
The resolution is to NOT use PPPoe at all. Verizon doesn't use it (at least in Oregon they don't).
Set the local IP of your router to 192.168.2.1 so it doesn't conflict and cause a NAT loop with the modem. The modem's IP is of course, 192.168.1.1.The Modem will work in routed bridge mode. The power, lan,dsl and internet lights will all be ON.
Protocol: Bridge
Mode: Routed Bridge
Router, set to DHCP/Automatic, don't worry about cloning the mac or any of that. The only thing you need to change on the router is it's local IP, to 192.168.2.1
Reboot your PC, powercycle the modem and the router, and viola.

I have a linksys WRT54G for my wireless router.. The wireless router works great but I want to set up a password to access the network. I went to 192.168.1.1 and setup the security for WEP 64 bits 10 hex digits. When my G4 laptop asks for the WEP password and then i put in the password it comes up with a box that says problems with joing the airport network. Any idea how to fix this?

Can linksys software work on a Mac? If so how do I get stated setting up the wireless? Hardware is wireless - N WRT150N. thanks for any help.
Just bought a WRT160N and can't get it to work with my Mac either. User guide is almost useless. The website Mac FAQs and Forum FAQs don't address my problem and the AskLinksys system isn't helping either. I bought Linksys because it was supposed to be so great.
I can get everything set up and running just using my modem but not going through the router. I had no problem setting up the UTStar modem/router my ISP provided. Went with their SpeedStream modem and bought my own router and no dice.
(Mod note: Edited for guideline compliance. Thank you.)

I have a linksys wrt54gs v8 and two ps3s and i get unable to join game errors when both units are online and playing the same game. I have no problems connecting to the internet or the playstation network but when i go in warhawk and sign one person gets kicked. can anyone help?
I'm not sure if this will work for you. But it did for me 8D disable UPnP in your router!
Open up fire fox or internet explorer or what ever you use. and type into the address 192.168.1.1 this will open your router settings. then click on Admimintration scroll down and disable UPnP then save your settings and give it a go.
I hope this works for you. -
Linksys and P2P problems?
Hi all,
I'm aware of the problems (or firmware bug) with Linksys routers and P2P software, where too many connections crash the router. I had a WRT54G v2 sometime ago and had to reboot the router twice weekly, before it died.
Well time has come for me to get a new wi-fi router for my Wii.
Have the problems been fixed yet concerning the mentioned bug with newer firmware, or should I get a router from another manufacturer.
I can't believe that a networking company, as Cisco would allow such a bug to exist for so long.
ThxAccess the setup page of the router by launching an
Browser and type on the address bar, 192.168.1.1 and press enter. When
it prompts for the username and password, leave the username field
empty and provide password as "admin" (Without quotes)
click on ok.
On the main setup page the ""Internet Connection Type"" should be
on ""Obtain IP Automatically - DHCP “. Click on the Save Settings
button.
Now click on the sub tab ""MAC address clone"".
- Click on enable
Click Clone & click save settings
Check WAN Ip on Status page of router ....
If getting Valid Ip .... try going online
If you are getting Ip - 192.168.1.X ...change the LAN Ip to 192.168.2.1 ....Power cycle for 3-4 minutes ...
Try going online
If still not working ...use Internet Connection type as PPPOE .... Use Username & Password provided by Service Provider ....
Click save settings....
Look for WAN IP address again under status page ....
Try going online ...... -
Linksys and DDNS: no alternatives: dyndns / TZO or die ?
hi all,
i`m rellay disappointed about linksys. dyndns and tzo now one company. Why is linksys not implemting freeware hoster or at least a field for custom implementation like others have ? What is the reason of your strategie ? the NSA to keep only USA hoster in your drop down menu ?
@ dd-wrt i have seen, WIP (work in progress) for EA2700. Is that the only on solution to wait, or have anybody any interims solution for me ? i want to connect Win7 workstation for remote access.Installing a third party firmware for your Linksys router is not recommended and will void its warranty. I guess Linksys is doing their best to allow small business, associations and individuals to host a website, email system, FTP site and more, on their own servers at their own locations wether they have a static or dynamic IP address. Teaming up with TZO.com by far is the best resolution to ensure reliability.
Try to check this link on setting up Remote desktop: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/remote-desktop-connection
