Linksys and ps3

I have a linksys wrt54gs v8 and two ps3s and i get unable to join game errors when both units are online and playing the same game. I have no problems connecting to the internet or the playstation network but when i go in warhawk and sign one person gets kicked. can anyone help?

I'm not sure if this will work for you. But it did for me 8D disable UPnP in your router!
Open up fire fox or internet explorer or what ever you use. and type into the address 192.168.1.1 this will open your router settings. then click on Admimintration scroll down and disable UPnP then save your settings and give it a go.
I hope this works for you.

  • WRT54G Wireless G Router and PS3

Hi there, I am a proud owner of the above mentioned items. The reason why I am posting this is that when I am playing on the PlayStation 3 and one of my other family members are on a hardwired computer, the hardwired computer I believe looses it's connection to the internet, but my PlayStation is still connected to the internet, and it works very good. My setup for my network is I have a laptop, Nintendo Wii, and PS3 connected wirelessly, and I also have two hardwired computers. I asked around on the internet, and other people said that I should not be having issues, and if I were that it might be something wrong with the firmware of my router. I do have the router fully updated with the latest firmware, so don't recommend that to me. So my question is, is anybody else having a similar issue, or am I just all alone on this, and is this a firmware issue, and if so, is Linksys doing anything to fix this issue? In case if anybody was interested, I have the version 6.0 of the WRT54G router.

Make sure your firmware is up to date. If not, upgrade it, reset and reconfigure the router.
The box said windows xp or better... So I installed Linux!

  • Need suggestions for new router running mac with eyeconnect, and ps3

We have the latest version of leopard on our 24" imac and we have eyeconnect ver. 1.6 we need to buy a new router and i want one that is very easy(like plug it in and walk away)to use. The main priority for this is not having problems streaming media to our ps3 via eyeconnect or medialink. Wireless or wired whatever would be the best i have never actually had an airport only linksys and have been unhappy with most of them any advice welcome about the router or getting eyeconnect to be recognized by the ps3 once its hooked up. Thank you

What I have in my house is an Airport Extreme with it's two (n,b or g) wireless connections for older non-N wireless connections. I then got a D-Link DGS-2208 10/100/1000Mbps 8-Port Desktop Green Ethernet Switch 8 for fast subnet sharing in the house. This speed is important for HD video sharing for from the external I have connected to the USB2 port on My Extreme.
Note: My Extreme is in "Bridged mode" because it sits behind a wired router that acts as the DHCP server.
Getting a router with Gig Ports and and USB2 port for an external to store/share files (videos mainly) to all my networked devices. The USB2 port on the Extreme was the deciding factor for the extra cost and this handy port making any USB2 external into a networked drive. Plus my older iPhone 3GS only does G it was a no-brainier because of the dual wireless.
The GIG switch is future proofing yourself for the years to come.
Plus I called the extreme but it is a Time Capsule that is just and extreme with a built-in disk.
One more thing: Use CAT6 cables in your network.

  • Using WRT54GS to connect Desktop, Laptop, and PS3 to Network

Hello.  I currently have a Linksys WRT54GS plugged into my Comcast Cable Modem (the Motorola one without build-in WiFi).  I have my desktop connected via an ethernet cable.  My laptop and PS3 are wireless.  I have been trying for some time to set up a network in my home where: I have internet on all 3 devices, the desktop and laptop can share files, and the PS3 can view the files on both computers.  I know this is possible.  So far, my PS3 recognizes my laptops shared files by default (no changes to network made).  The only device out of the loop is my desktop machine.
By the way, both computers are running Vista Ultimate and the PS3 is on Firmware 2.60.  The router has the latest firmware also.
Thanks, in advance, to anyone who can help.

As you both XBOX and PS3 are getting disconnected from the network automatically. Here are some settings which you can set on your Router and i think this might solve your probelm.
This settings are for your Xbox  :-
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1365 and click Save Settings...
Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" subtab...
    1) On the first line in Application box type in ABC, in the start box type in 53 and End box type in 3074, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box, click Save Settings once done...
    2) Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
    3) Click on set-up and change the MTU Size to 1452 and click Save Settings...Click on the Status tab and take note of DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses...
    4) Goto the XBox Network Settings and IP Address Settings and select manual IP Settings and assign the following on your Xbox IP Address :- 192.168.1.20, Subnet Mask :- 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway :- 192.168.1.1...
    5) Also assign the DNS Addresses on the Xbox. Use DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses you took note off of the router status tab as Primary DNS & Secondary DNS for the xbox...
    6) Turn off your modem, router, and Xbox...Wait for a minute...
    7) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the Xbox and test it...it will connect...
This Settings are for your PS3 :-
    1) On the first line in Application box type in ABC, in the start box type in 80 and End box type in 80, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.30 and check the enable box...

    4) On the fourth line in Application box type in JKL, in the start box type in 3478 and End box type in 3479, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.30 and check the enable box...
    5) On the fifth line in Application box type in MNO, in the start box type in 3658 and End box type in 3658, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.30 and check the enable box...
    6) On the sixth line in Application box type in PQR, in the start box type in 10070 and End box type in 10080, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.30 and check the enable box and click on Save Settings
    7) Now assign the given ip address on your PlayStation ip address :- 192.168.1.30, subnet mask :- 255.255.255.0, default gateway :- 192.168.1.1...

  • Amazon Q&A - E3200 - Default Nat Type for xbox 360 and ps3

    Date: Sep 5, 2012 4:08:21 PM PDT
    Linksys E3200 High-Performance Simultaneous Dual-Band Wireless-N Router
the nat type for xbox 360 and ps3, what is it when you set the router up out of the box? are the nat types open moderate or strict

Hi there. It actually depends if the gaming consoles ports are not blocked by your ISP. Moderate NAT type limits your connection playing online games, Strict does not allow you any connection at all while Open allows you to play with everyone online. Have you had a router before with Open NAT on the gaming consoles? Try to check without the router by going directly to the modem and see if your NAT type is open or strict or moderate. If ever modem is fine and it is the router not working right you can port forward ports on the router. I found these usual ports online, for XBOX live:TCP and UDP ports:  80-88, 3074-3074, 4267-4269. For PS380, 443, 3478, 3479, 3480, 5223, 8080 and UDP: 3478, 3479.

  • A new IMac, old xp pc, Linksys and a new Hp All in one...now what?

Someone please point me in the right direction. I need to share all the functions of the HP all in one, printing and scanning with my new mac and old xp PC. Sharing files will be nice as well. At this point all will be hardwired. I may add a PC notebook wirelessly in the future. The Imac and the pc are hardwired to the router ( Linksys WRT54G Version 2). At this point I can access the internet fine. The printer HP CM1312nfi MFP is still in the box.
What do I do next. My router is out of warrantee and Linksys will not help. Apple care tells me to call Linksys and HP says the same.
I need a simple step by step guide that I can understand. I have been searching the internet for days and I simply give up?
    Please help.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Lightroom 1.2 and PS3 color differences.

I am using LR 1.2 and PS3 for external editing. Once the file is opened in PS the color is different from LR. After the editing and saving the file in PS, edited file, again, look different in LR. In fact, if I open file in PS and close it without any editing, the copy created in LR look different already.
I do regular calibration of my monitor (DiamondPro 2070) with EyeOne and use sRGB color space.
How to get identical colors in both applications?

I spent some time trying different combinations with PS, LR and Preview.
It looks like color variations have a lot to do with my editing using Topaz PS plug-in. I do heavy editing with Psycadelic preset  (http://levakhsanov.net/p193873551), then increase image size in PS, save in LR, tweak some more colors in LR and Export to the disk (Preview). As a result size of the file became 57MB (from original 4MB). Thanks to you, colors in PS and LR look consistent enough even with Topaz  editing (as long as I do not do one more round with edited file, LR>PS>LR), but Preview colors are much more saturated. And really wierd thing is that some pictures look different in Library and Development modes in LR!  With light editing without Topaz colors are the same in all 3 softwares.
I am not concerned that much with colors in Preview, but I am just woundering what colors I will see on a hard copy. Easiest way is to order small print and see, but MPIX have 25% limited time sale on big prints and there is no time for turnaround. I guess I need to make some sucrifices
Thank you very much for your help.

  • Imac 24" with wii and ps3

I'm looking at getting the new 24" imac.
    Questions:
    1. is it possible to run a wii and ps3 through the imac without additional hardware?
    2. If not, is it best to use a hd scaler like the gefen hd mate scaler to connect the devices to the imac or are there alternatives?
    3. will the imac display give good reproduction of HD media (ie blu ray through the ps3)?
I'm aware of the elgato eyetv solution but want to avoid the tv route to avoid paying the tv licence fee (don't have a tv or any real desire to get one if I can otherwise spend the licensing fee on a better specced machine).
    Cheers
    Denning

    Hello,
There is no video input on the iMac. I've never seen anything but Standard Defintion video input devices via USB/Firewire (the HD input devices are PCI cards), they are also generally more expensive than the Elgato TV Tuners. I would have said that the cost of an ADC to give you the video-in is a significant chunk out of a getting a seperate HD TV, but then you don't want to have a tuner in the house because you'd have trouble convincing the TV license people it's not in use.
So my wild card answer is take a look at a 24" display with HDMI and DVI. You can connect it to the iMac via DVI as a second display and it's HDMI in port will allow you to play the PS3 on it:
Example (This is a TN panel hence the price. The S-IPS version is somewhat more.)

  • Linksys and maxpower

    Hi,
I bought a linksys WRT54G to make a wireless connection from my G5 to my G4 quicksilver / Mac OSX10.4.11 computer.
The Linksys router is currently connected to my G5.
Since the linksys PCI adapters are not compatible with Apple , I wanted to buy the Maxpower 802.11n/G/b Wireless PCI adapter for my G4.
Now, are the linksys and the maxpower compatible with each other?
(I already have the Linksys router otherwise I would have got the Maxpower router)
    thanks

    Hi-
    Welcome to Discussions!
The MaxPower PCI adapter and Linksys router should work fine together.

I cannot get my iMac with built-in airport wi-fi to allow internet connections to Nook and PS3. The devices access the network, but internet connection fails. Internet sharing is enabled, network security (WEP, WPA) is disabled.  What to check next?

On an additional note, I've purchased a wireless router and everything connected on the first attempt.  It just vexes me that the built-in wireless isn't working as a router.  Is this another example of "Mac only plays with Mac"?

  • Connecting my e2000 to my pc, xbox and ps3

I've recently started studying for the CCNA exam and one of the first things you learn is the type of cabling required between devices.
Basically, I got curious and checked to find that my pc and e2000 router are connected via a straight-through cable even though it's supposed to be that a router and pc share the same pin layout and should be connected via crossover cable. It's the same story with my xbox and ps3 (also wired directly to the router via straight-throughs).
I'm just trying to better understand the relation between devices and cabling to avoid future confusion.
    Thanks

Some devices such as routers will have advanced circuitry, which enables them to use both crossover and straight-through cables. In general, however, straight-through cables will not connect a computer and router because they are not “unlike devices. To know more about the dirrence of the two cables visit the links below

  • Lost WEP password, can't establish AP connection to my iPod and PS3. using AP built into my MacMini.

I have been using the built in Airport features of my Intel Mini, running OS10.6.8. to provide internet access to my iPod and PS3.  The Mini itself is connected via Ethernet and all is good on that end.  However, wIthout warning iPod 7 PS3 began asking for a WEP password in order to connect. The AP password I had saved in my Keychain failed to solve the problem.  I have tried repeatedly to reset passwords for my Mini's built in AP network numbers with no luck at all.  I cannot get any further than the request for a WEP address. So, I am kinda desparate to get this fixed.  What's a person to do?
    Thanks all for any help,

Have you tried going to Settings>iTunes and App Stores (or just Store) and signing out and then signing in again?

  • "Best" format for playback on PC and PS3 ...

I have a home movie and need to export into a format for playback on a PC and PS3 (among other exports for Blu-ray discs, intermediate mater file archive, etc.).   Movie is 1080i, 29.97.    In my layman's view I see four choices that would cover both platforms with one file: 1) H.264 / .mp4, 2) H.264 Blu-ray muxed / .m2t, 3) MPEG2 / .mpg, or 4) MPEG2 Blu-ray muxed to .m2t.   But maybe I'm misisng the right choice altogether.    I would like the resultant quality to look at good as the Blu-ray.   From some prior experiments and feedback it struck me that perhaps devices have an easier time decoding MPEG2 (?).   What would you all recommend?
Here are the supported file types for the PS3 for reference.
Types of files that can be played
The following types of files can be played under (Video).
    Memory Stick Video Format
    - MPEG-4 SP (AAC LC)
    - H.264/MPEG-4 AVC High Profile (AAC LC)
    - MPEG-2 TS(H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, AAC LC)
    MP4 file format
    - H.264/MPEG-4 AVC High Profile (AAC LC)
    MPEG-1 (MPEG Audio Layer 2)
MPEG-2 PS (MPEG2 Audio Layer 2, AAC LC, AC3(Dolby Digital), LPCM)
    MPEG-2 TS(MPEG2 Audio Layer 2, AC3(Dolby Digital), AAC LC)
    MPEG-2 TS(H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, AAC LC)
    AVI
    - Motion JPEG (Linear PCM)
    - Motion JPEG (μ-Law)
    AVCHD (.m2ts / .mts)
    DivX
    WMV
    - VC-1(WMA Standard V2)

Jim: that is what I'm doing here.  For the "master" I found the lossless codecs left behind huge files as did DNxHD, so am using the Matrox I-Frame HD codec here.   Any feedback?    (PS I'm also using Project Manager to archive it all and that would be the first place I go if I ever need to export again.   The master is in case the project manager arhives lose backward compatibility with PP at some point.)
My question here though was which of the formats would you use for the playback given the above PS3 spec?   I don't understand if H.264 is better, worse, or the same as MPEG2 for the case; if the Blu-ray formats and multiplexing are better, worse, or the same as the non-BD variants; or maybe I am missing the boat here entirely - there are a lot of exports in PP and I quite understand the list above either.

  • WRT320N. Port forwarding help. Xbox and ps3 playing at same time. NAT issues

    Hi
I'm trying to have both my xbox and ps3 play with open NAT's for online gaming. I have had success utilizing info from 'portforward.com'. But the solutions will unlock OPEN NAT for either the ps3 or the xbox .. one at a time. Is there a way to get both to be open?
It seems like one main conflict is the success depends on both utilizing port 3074. But I can't have both use it? ( obviously).
I tried port forwarding the xbox per specs off of this forum and that works great.. And DMZ ing the PS3. But like i said before. Most solutions
leave one console with OPEN and one with Moderate.
Is there a solution that allows both NAT OPEN's on both consoles?

First of all XBOX works on a different port number and PS3 works on a different port numbers. Follow the steps below to open the ports on your router for XBOX and PS3.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...

3)Click on the Status tab and take note of DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses...
    4) Goto the XBox Network Settings and IP Address Settings and select manual IP Settings and assign the following on your Xbox IP Address :- 192.168.1.20, Subnet Mask :- 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway :- 192.168.1.1...
    5) Also assign the DNS Addresses on the Xbox Use DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses you took note off of the router status tab as Primary DNS & Secondary DNS for the xbox...
    6) Turn off your modem, router, and Xbox...Wait for a minute...
    7) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the Xbox and test it...it will connect...
