Linksys buyer's guide needed
Is there somewhere a buyer's guide for linksyst routers, where it would be possible to find a router which fits my needs?.
A kind of feature search, which could help to find a router with for example:
wireless n-mode,
removable antenna,
wireless broadcast on/off
third party firmware possible
etc...

Linksys will not tell you which ones are 3rd party firmware compatible! They don't really want you to utilize 3rd party firmware...

Performance Tuning Guide Needed.
I've seen numerous references to a "Performance Tuning Guide" Is there
any way this document could be posted on the weblogic customer
downloads.
We desperately need this information. Even with working with Support so
far the process has been trial and error. Try this, then try that. I've
burnt many days just playing around with the properties and so far no
luck.
I've read just about every post in the performance newsgroup. Some seem
to be the same types of problems we are currently facing. Great
response when there are about 50 users. Horrible around 65. Slowness
doesn't seem to be gradual. All of a sudden it starts to crawl. So far
I haven't seen any posts regarding solutions (weblogic.properties
settings) which I could try and use.
We are currently using weblogic 4.0.3 on AIX 4.3 with Oracle 8.i. No
native performance pack for that release. Will upgrading to 4.5.1
increase performance dramatically? Our application is very database
dependent. We use a the weblogic connection pool using Oracle's jdbc
thin driver. Note Oracle's OCI driver has numerous bugs related to CLOB
and BLOB retrieval which are used heavily in our database.
Thanks,
Don DeLucaHi Don,
I can't comment on the public posting of the Capacity Planning document.
However, I can say that there is no magic formula for optimizing your
WebLogic application. The biggest things to look at are the application
design and code (e.g., unnecessary synchronization code), DBMS configuration
and database design, JVM heap size (bigger is not always better), number of
execute threads (more is not always better), number of database connections
in the pool, whether or not you are using the performance pack, how much
other activity is happening on the server machine, etc. I can tell you that
trying to simulate a large number of clients from a single JVM client (using
lots of threads) will lead you to believe that the server is having problems
when it is really the client software/hardware that is often the limiting
factor. In many of our large benchmarks, we end up using significantly more
hardware for driving the clients than for running the server(s).
Sorry I don't have any better answers for you,
Robert

Hi Im using the free Acrobat reader within my application for viewing PDF files only.
Its the same that gets displayed in a browser and is activated as an activeX control.
It actually runs out of process as AcroRD32.exe
This has an API and quite a bit is intuitive but part of it is not.
Is these a help guide for using this API within your apps or scripts?
I need to try a switch a few things off etc and attempt to scale the view relative to my app.
Thanks. You can find documentation about the API in the Acrobat SDK.

A lot of the web tools I need are already in place like Web Developer Toolbar & FF Developer Tools!
Need to figure a simple way to export Contacts & Mail from Opera's M2 Mail to SeaMonkey, Simple Mail or better lightweight e-Mail client.
I could do many cool things in Opera that have not figured out yet in FF.

Still Need: Window Size in Title Bar, Page Zoom Controls, Small Screen (Very Basic Mobile View), Check Box Controls on Toolbar, Author/User Modes, Easy Proxy On/Off - I use a Check Box Control on Toolbar!

Not familiar with wiki etiquette, Beginner's Guide needs to be changed
Hello everyone,
I am an Arch newbie and did my first Arch installation successfully last night.
During the installation, a problem occured in chapter Configure the network of the Beginner's Guide. When executing
# systemctl start dhcpcd
the system refuses to do it, it complains it is in a chrooted environment and ignores the command. Consequently, I didn't have an internet connection after the reboot, but executing this piece of code again in my "real" system quickly solved the problem.
Since Arch is a community effort and I'd like to give back, even if it's just small things as a newbie, I'd like to help improve the Wiki, but I am not sure about its etiquette after going through the Help:Editing as it has a rather technical nature, but not the policies.
Is it ok for me to make direct editions to the Beginner's Guide?
If yes, should I just add a note along the lines "repeat this command in case you get the error..."? Or what do you suggest to have a streamlined style of writing?
Thanks for any feedback.parcival wrote:

I am no expert, but in order to install arch, u need an internet connection already before the install process. And after the chroot, that connection will not change; the "systemctl start dhcpcd command" therefore is in my opinion not necessary.
It makes sense to run "systemctl enable dhcpcd" after the chroot to start the internet connection during the next reboot. (That's probably also what u want to do; else u need to run the start command everytime u reboot your system)
PS: Welcome to the "Arch Family"

Andy's Guides - Need help!!
Okay,
So, I have a 16:9 project and need to use Andy's guides to show me center cut (4:3) straight in the center. For some reason, I only see the options "4:3" or "14:9". I'm assuming the "14:9" is center cut, but want to verify.
Thanks!Ryan,
If you need 4:3 guides then choose 4:3 (not 14:9) from the popup. The Crop Safe guide will then indicate the region that will be cropped if and when you create your center cut version. Use the Actions Safe and Title Safe guides to ensure that your Center Cut version will comply with broadcast recommendations.
Cheers

Linksys WRT54GS Ver 5 needs reboot every 10-12 hours after wiring it to LG BD590 Blu-Ray
Had this router hard wired to a desktop - everything has been fine forever. Moved it so I could hard wire it to the Blu-Ray player for watching Netflix, etc. Everything works. Except the Router needs to be rebooted every 10-12 hours. Unplugging it for 30 seconds works. The router seems to be working, but the wireless signal to the other computers in the house, although showing strong, will not connect to the internet, Router is getting its internet straight from the Comcast modem. I have the latest firmware installed in the router. Any ideas greatly appreciated before I throw this thing out.
Try to re-flash the firmware on your router.
Connect the computer with the Ethernet cable to the router.
Download the latest firmware from Linksys website and save it on your computer. Open the setup page of the router. Click on Administration tab and go to Firmware upgrade sub tab. Browse the firmware file that you have already downloaded and upgrade it on your router.
After upgrading the firmware on the router, it is recommended that you should reset the router and reconfigure it. Press and hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds. Release the reset button and wait for 30 seconds. Power cycle the router and reconfigure it.
Also try to change some advanced wireless settings on the router. Click on Wireless tab and go to Advanced wireless settings. Change the Beacon interval to 75, RTS threshold to 2307 and fragmentation threshold to 2306. Save the settings. -
Linksys router says I need to update, but I'm running OS 10.7
My Lynksys Router is designed to run OS 10. 4. or later. I have OS 10.7 and it won't even allow me to view the set up CD. What router will work?

Well,

I certainly would not follow the link in the last post of that thread you posted. I just looked at that article and it is for Cloning the MAC (Media Access Control) address from a computer to the router. That is only part of what you need to do and you do not need to do that. If you are on a Cable connection all you have to do is turn off the modem, unplug it, for 5 to 10 minutes and when you connect the router to it and turn it back on it will sync with the routers built in MAC address.
What you need to do is configure the router manually. That is to set a main router logon password, setup the wireless side to WPA or WPA2 and set another, DIFFERENT, password for the wireless side.
Head over to DSLreports.com and look up the FAQs for your model Linksys router.
Good Luck.
Oh and while you are doing this make sure you Write all the passwords down so you can get back into it when needed. -
Linksys Router + iBook + PC = Need Security set up!
Hello
I have a G3 iBook running 10.3.9 (wireless) and a Linksys router.
I now also have PC laptop running Windows XP Home edition (wireless).
I have been able to set up the Mac and PC both to work with the router, however, I need to set up security! There are several security options on the Linksys Admin site, and I'm not sure which is best, and will work for these two different worlds. Any help or articles on what to use and How to set it up??
Thanks,
Bonnie

There you can change the network settings of your wireless network (and wired too). I suggest you use WPA.

Step by Step Guide needed for external drives.... Help!
I know this has probably been done to death already but I can't seem to make any of the suggestions work in this case. I guess what I need is someone to tell me like I'm a 5 year old on how to do this.
I want to move my music library to an external drive as my main drive is getting full. I have iTunes on my c: drive and want to move my music to an external drive (h:) so it can play and be stored there. I have tried a couple of times to move it and tell iTunes where to find it but for some reason a couple of things happen...
1. iTunes changes the location back to the c: drive, even after I have pointed it to a folder created on the external drive.
2. if it does look to the external drive it doesn't find the library... the music is there but iTunes doesn't display it in the library.

Upgrading from 5 to 7. An Idiot's Guide needed
When I first got my Mac, it was just on the cusp of OSX. So it came loaded with OSX and OS9. The shop I got all the kit from set everything up on OS9 with Logic 5 working via OMS.
Now, this has worked fine (apart from a few lack of memory problems) but it's time to move on.
So, I upgraded to Tiger and I've bought the upgrade from Logic 5 (Big Box version) to Logic 7 pro.
Obviously I need more memory, although I'm not sure how much, but what are the practicalities to make sure it works when I first fire it up?
What happens to my old favorite VST's?
Virtual Guitarist, Groove Agent, Stylus,
My battered old Edirol Orchestral?
I write for TV regularly so I can't afford to have much down-time.
Please someone tell me it'll be OK....
Cheers
RodOMS was very popular for Mac OS 9 because it managed your MIDI ports and abstracted the software/MIDI relationship to where all we needed to know were the names of the ports, rather than port numbers and stuff like that.
Apple's CoreMIDI structure in Mac OS X is based on OMS (Doug Wyatt, the developer of OMS, works for Apple and has been the primary developer behind CoreMIDI).
If you are still planning to dual boot from OS9, you will use OMS there. However, as far as OS X goes, everything you need is built in and accessed from the Audio MIDI Setup utility.
