Linksys Cisco SRW248G4P 48-port 10/100 + 4-port Gigabit Switch Help

The switch which is a Linksys Cisco SRW248G4P 48-port 10/100 + 4-port Gigabit Switch, was configured by a contractor which was long ago run off, and the documentation left behind to log into the switch is incorrect. How can we reset this switch so we can configure to the new required settings?
I have attempted to go in through the web browser gui, and no luck logging in via factory default creditials, cannot log in using any of the common admin creditials, nor can we get in via the documented admin name and pw the contractor left.
Attempted ot go in through the console, that doesn't work right at all. Takes 15-20 min before I start even seeing user name or password boxes.  Cannot type a single thing into those boxes.  I have set the hyperterminal to com1,  38400, 8, none, 1, hardware.  It kinda lets me see some of the log in screen, but will not let me type into the username whatsoever.
Logging via web browser I see all the login option but not a single username or pw works. Please if anyone can help, this has been an issue which is now critical.

Hi, My name is Eric Moyers. I am a Network Support Engineer in the Cisco Small Business Support Center.
The settings for connection using Hyperterminal through the Console port should be:
Bits per second: 38400
Databits: 8
Pairity: None
Stop bits: 1
Flow Control: None
When you finish configuring the HyperTerminal, the Login screen appears. The first time you open the Console Interface, use the default username admin and leave the password blank and press the Enter key. You can set a password later from the User and Password Settings screen. The Main Menu screen displays six menu choices: System Configuration Menu, Port Status, Port Configuration, PoE Configuration, Help, and Log Out.
User and Password Settings, IP Configuration, File Management, Restore System Default Settings, Reboot System and Back to Main Menu.
To restore the Switch back to the factory default settings, select Restore System Default Setting and press Enter. A confirmation message appears asking Are you sure? [Y/N]. Press the Y key to continue or the N key to cancel the action.
System Configuration Menu options: (Which is where you will need to go) consist of: System Configuration, Management Settings
After pressing Y, at this point reboot your system and it will be back to Factory Fresh.
If you have any questions or this doesn't work, please let me know. I am attachng the Admin Guide for you as well.

how many concurrent voice call can be conducted at once with the cisco sf 100d-08 8-port 10\100 switch?

    Christopher,
As far as concurrent voice calls we don't have any documentation as to how many it can support.  It is strictly based on the bandwidth for the network as to how many calls it can handle.

    Hi All,
I need SNMP MIB files for Cisco SF 300-48 48-Port 10/100 Managed Switch.
I have gone through cisco site but not able to get it.
Can anyone please provide me.I have stuck with this.
    Thanks

Hi Ram, yes the MIB can be used. The switches are essentially the same in many regards (especially on a software level).
I do not know the OID for bandwidth. If you're looking for a particular OID may be this tool helps you

I have a Linksys 10/100 5 port workgroup switch attached to an Airport Extreme to expand the number of ports. Does anyone know if this setup will work properly?

Sure - just be aware that it will limit you to 100Mb/s internal network speed. If you want to be able to transfer files internally on your network faster, look into a gigabit switch.

    Dear All,
Just a question, I have doubt whether Linksys Cisco switch 24 ports SLM2024  and Cisco SLM2024 both are same. Both are look wise and colors are different??
If both are same , are they supports for VLAN?? Can use them in a VLAN environment?? Can anyone tell me the SFP for multimode and single mode which will work with SLM2024, and SLM2048 switches??

  • Connecting Rv180w and D-Link 5-Port 10/100/1000 Switch DGS-1005G

This simple exercise has become a pain. I have a D-Link 5-Port 10/100/1000 Switch DGS-1005G connected to an old (10 years old) linksys 4 port router and it works fine. When I try to connect the switch to my new RV180W it appears dead...no connectivity lights at all. I cannot see an uplink port on the RV180w.....I have tried crossover cable still no joy. Am I missing something?

    Hi Tom,
Yes i am pretty sure, i have called 3S vision and confirmed it, also i conducted 3 test in 3 different switches last week and the camera worked just like that " Plug & Play ".
I have tested out 3 switches and they are :
    Cisco Switch 16 Port 10/100
    Netgear 8 port 10/100
    Cisco Switch 8 Port 10/100
I was able to view the camera and modify the settings, upgrade the firmware, etc. all worked, except this model !!!!
I am losing hope on this and we are considering buying another switch which would be a waste of money.
Is there is any possible way to enforce the port to read it?
Also i have noticed one thing, whenver i plug the Camera to SG300-28P switch, the camera has a small led in the motherboard which keeps blinking red when its connected. It is like its trying to boot but not able too.
I have until the end of the week, if this issue is not sorted out with this switch model, i will have to buy another one

  • How do I make airport time capsule work with Linksys cisco router?

    Hi all.
I bought an airport time capsule 3T and want to connect it to the internet, using a macbook with OS X 10.9.2. Currently I am using a Linksys Cisco router model WAG54G2.
I followed the steps of the setup airport guide: Connected the WAN port of the airport with an ethernet port on the router, plugged in the power cable, filled in the internet username and password. In Airport Utility I can see the airport and the internet icon, both with green dots most of the time. But it seems to disconnect every minute or so, green dots turning orange and the status light on the airport flashing orange. The internet light on the linksys also goes on and off. When the internet is on, it is quite slow.
    Advice is welcome!
    Kees

No guarantees here. AirPort Utility 6.3.1 is a big drop down from the 5.x versions in Leopard and Snow Leopard.
Hold in the reset button on the back of the Time Capsule for 9-10 seconds and release
Allow a full minute for the TC to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
Click the AirPort icon at the top of the screen and wait a few seconds for a listing of New AirPort Base Station to appear. Just below that, click on Time Capsule.
The example below shows an AirPort Express. You will see Time Capsule.
As soon as you click on the Time Capsule, AirPort Setup will open up automatically and take a minute to analyze the network....and probably suggest that the Time Capule will be configured to "extend"....which is wrong.
Click the Other Options button at the lower left
Click Add to an existing network
Next to Connect To.....select the wireless network name from the drop down list....if it appears. Otherwise type in the exact name of the wireless network.
    Click Next
Confirm any settings again and wait to see if AirPort Utility 6.3.1 will allow the Time Capsule to join the wireless network.
You have about a 1 in 5 chance that this will occur.
    Post back on your results.

  • Advantages of 10/100 Management port on 6500/4500 series

    Hi mates,
There is a common port called "10/100 MGT" (next to console port) on the supervisor engines of 6500 and 4500 series switch.
Why would I need that port since I can telnet through Layer2 10/100 ports??
Is that port doing the same job as console port? in addition allows longer distances over cat 5 cables??
Do we need to assign IP address on that mangement port?
    Thanks for helping :)

    Hi,
The 6500 supervisors do not have a 10/100 MGT port. The cat4000 supervisors do, however.
On the supI and supII, the Ethernet management ports are for network management only. These ports do not support network switching. See:
    http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat4000/inst_gd/05modins.htm#xtocid184774
On the SupII+, SupIII, and higher, the Ethernet management port is used (in ROMMON mode only) to recover a switch software image that has been corrupted or destroyed due to a network catastrophe. This port is not active while the switch is operating normally.

  • 3560 and 3750 - Question about 10/100/1000 ports

I am researching several Cisco products to recommend to a customer. I was wondering if the 10/100/1000 ports at a 3560 switch, will provide gigabit bandwith on each port or if the bandwidth is shared among several ports. The latter is how a 48 port 10/100/1000 line card would behave on a Cisco 4500 when, depending on the card, the gigabit bandwidth will be shared among 4 or 6 ports at a time.
    What about 10/100/1000 ports on a 3750?
    Thanks

The new Catalyst switches/modules such as the Catalyst 6500/6000, 4500/4000, 3550, and 2950 support 10/100/1000 Mbps negotiated Ethernet interfaces or ports. These ports work on 10Mbps, 100Mbps, or 1000 Mbps speed based on their connection to the other end. These 10/100/1000Mbps ports can be configured for speed and duplex negotiation in the same way as 10/100 Mbps ports on CatOS or Cisco IOS Software-based switches. Therefore, the configurations given in this document for 10/100Mbps port negotiation applies to 10/100/1000Mbps ports as well.

  • When is Linksys/Cisco going to fix E4200 problems??

All the problems started when I upgraded from a WRT54G (never had a problem with this router over several years) to the E4200 (v1.1.02)  a couple of months ago. No problems with any of the wired connections of course, but all my wireless 2.4 GHz connections had problems immediately -- decreasing signal strengths (no matter how close to the router) and eventual loss of connectivity.  I tried all the conventional solutions like switching channels, checking for interference, moving the router to "higher ground" where it could vent heat better (this baby really runs hot)  and be unobstructed,  etc., but the only thing that would cure the problem was to reboot the router, usually once or twice a day.   I checked the forums and found that lots and lots of folks were experiencing this behavior. I finally discovered that if I disabled the 5gz band the 2.4 GHz connections would no longer be dropped (by the way, once they're dropped, the only way to get back is to  reboot the router; eventually the router state is such that nothing can connect to it).  Still tends to have signal strength loss over time but at least we're running consistently.  The other problem I'm experiencing is that if I get more than about 30 - 35 feet away, there is a significant decrease in signal strength.
I bought this router for (1)  the gigabyte ports for my wired machines; (2) increased signal strength for my wireless devices at greater distances; and (3) the dual band capability to handle the 5 GHz spectrum as those devices become more prevalent.  Well, 1 out of 3 is pretty pathetic performance for what is a relatively expensive high end router from a  company that until now I had a confidence in their ability to produce technically sound hardware.
I may be way off base here, but based on over 40 years experience in IT, this appears to be part of a larger trend where the bottom line seems to be dicating the rush to market of inadequately tested hardware and software.
Linksys/Cisco -- can you please acknowlege these problems and what the current plan and timetable is to fix.  The E4200 has been in the market place for a while now and I still don't see a firmware upgrade.
David (Extremely disappointed with Linksys/Cisco and the E4200)

Cant be fixed even with 1.0.4. Bad product dont buy it.

  • 24 port or 48 Port 10/100/1000 with 4 POE

Hi I need to offer a solution to a cusotmer with 24 or 48 port 10/100/1000 switches with minimum 4 POE Ports
    DOes Cisco have this solution

4 ports only for PoE? I think buying a 24-port PoE is a very expensive choice. May I recommend you buy a 4-port mid-span PoE switch instead?
If you Google "mid-span" poe, you'll find a number of manufacturers.
Another thing I would like to know is what are you trying to connect? Mid-Span PoE ports comes in a variety of "flavours", some will give you STANDARD 15.4W (or less) power but there are some which can give you 20.0W or 30.0W of power per port.
Now, if you are still determined to get a PoE switch, I would like to determine from you, for a 48-port PoE switch, if you want ALL 48-ports capable of delivering PoE? If you say yes, then the only choice you've got is the WS-C3560-48PD-SF or WS-C3750E-48PD-SF.
    WS-C2975 (48 10/100/1000 PoE up to 24), WS-C2960G, WS-C3560G, WS-C3750 (24 OR 48 10/100/1000 PoE up to 24) are likely candidates.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can 1000BaseT GBIC connect to a 10/100 FE port

The GBIC is inserted in a 3508 switch port and the FE port comes from a 2924FX switch. Can 1000BaseT GBIC operate in 100m mode? Thanks.

Yes, it should be able to "downshift" to at least 100 meg, I believe.
Some chipsets also can drop to 10meg, but I'm not sure of the Cisco flavor is capable of doing so.

  • Cisco SGE2010P 48-port Gigabit Switch - Setup & Configure via Web UI?

    Hello,
I'm looking to purchase a Cisco SGE2010P 48-port Gigabit Switch (POE) for a 100% Macintosh environment. Because of this, none of the machines will be able to access the switch (including initial, out of the box setup) via the console port. So, I'm wondering if anyone can confirm if this switch is configurable, out of the box, via the Web UI (which would allow a Macintosh system to set it up no problem via a web browser)? I have asked all my suppliers and talked to a Cisco Product Specialist via web chat and also tried via phone, and no one can confirm if this is possible for sure.
The reason I ask is that I was also looking at a Nortel switch and even thought it had a Web UI for management, out of the box it had to be initially set up (ie. configuring the devices IP) via the console port first, and once that was done, only then could you access the Web UI.
I'm hoping this isn't the case with the Cisco switch and that it in fact is out of the box with a default IP so it can be accessed via the Web UI (without the need to go in via the console port).
Could anyone answer this question for me!?
If it helps, this is the website for the switch I'm considering...
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps9985/index.html
    Regards,
    Kristin.

SGE2000 and SGE2000P must have a DHCP server to get an IP-address. You “just” have to figure out the address they have been given.SGE2010 and SGE2010P has a default IP (192.168.1.254 – 255.255.255.0)All 4 devises has a web interface. I don’t see why it shut not work with a Mac browser. The primarily reason for buying SGE switches is their ability to stack. But 24 ports (SGE2000/P) and 48 ports (SGE2010/P) switches are not able to stack with each other. They have had several years to fix the problem so it is not likely it will ever bee fixit. If you stick to eater 24 ports ore 48 ports it will work.
