Linksys/Cisco WRVS-4400N.v2 - WAN dual-pptp(l2tp) setup?

Good day.
I've recently received a WRVS-4400N v2 and I'm having the following problems:
I don't see any way to set it up to work with my provider, as it works with so-called by Dlink "dual-access pptp (or l2tp). So, I'v got a static IP I receive, when I connect to L2TP server, but first I receive a dynamic, which let's me into their network. Did anyone try configuring wrvs4400n under such conditions?
Second problem is that you cannot set it to access pptp/l2tp server by name, only by IP, which is not acceptable - access servers do change their ips from time to time.
Are there any solutions\ideas? OpenWRT/DD-WRT don't support this model. Can I hope for a firmware upgrade, which will allow the aforementioned, or should I just get rid off this model?
Thanks for your attention.

  • WRVS-4400N no IPv6 on WAN Interface

Currently the WRVS-4400N will only support IPv6 limited.
Is there a time line when this device will support IPv6 also on the WAN Interface? I want to move over to IPv6 complete and get rid of IPv4.
PLEASE!!! START TO SUPPORT IPv6 FULL ON EVERY DEVICE!!
    Best regards,
    Torsten

In the meantime I have seen that the RV220W will full support IPv6.
I think about to trash the WRVS and move over to RV220W.

I don't understand why CISCO support will give such comments. From my point of view this will say everything about the future of the WRVS device.
    Thanks!

  • How do I make airport time capsule work with Linksys cisco router?

    Hi all.
I bought an airport time capsule 3T and want to connect it to the internet, using a macbook with OS X 10.9.2. Currently I am using a Linksys Cisco router model WAG54G2.
I followed the steps of the setup airport guide: Connected the WAN port of the airport with an ethernet port on the router, plugged in the power cable, filled in the internet username and password. In Airport Utility I can see the airport and the internet icon, both with green dots most of the time. But it seems to disconnect every minute or so, green dots turning orange and the status light on the airport flashing orange. The internet light on the linksys also goes on and off. When the internet is on, it is quite slow.
    Advice is welcome!
    Kees

No guarantees here. AirPort Utility 6.3.1 is a big drop down from the 5.x versions in Leopard and Snow Leopard.
Hold in the reset button on the back of the Time Capsule for 9-10 seconds and release
Allow a full minute for the TC to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
Click the AirPort icon at the top of the screen and wait a few seconds for a listing of New AirPort Base Station to appear. Just below that, click on Time Capsule.
The example below shows an AirPort Express. You will see Time Capsule.
As soon as you click on the Time Capsule, AirPort Setup will open up automatically and take a minute to analyze the network....and probably suggest that the Time Capule will be configured to "extend"....which is wrong.
Click the Other Options button at the lower left
Click Add to an existing network
Next to Connect To.....select the wireless network name from the drop down list....if it appears. Otherwise type in the exact name of the wireless network.
    Click Next
Confirm any settings again and wait to see if AirPort Utility 6.3.1 will allow the Time Capsule to join the wireless network.
You have about a 1 in 5 chance that this will occur.
    Post back on your results.

  • When is Linksys/Cisco going to fix E4200 problems??

All the problems started when I upgraded from a WRT54G (never had a problem with this router over several years) to the E4200 (v1.1.02)  a couple of months ago. No problems with any of the wired connections of course, but all my wireless 2.4 GHz connections had problems immediately -- decreasing signal strengths (no matter how close to the router) and eventual loss of connectivity.  I tried all the conventional solutions like switching channels, checking for interference, moving the router to "higher ground" where it could vent heat better (this baby really runs hot)  and be unobstructed,  etc., but the only thing that would cure the problem was to reboot the router, usually once or twice a day.   I checked the forums and found that lots and lots of folks were experiencing this behavior. I finally discovered that if I disabled the 5gz band the 2.4 GHz connections would no longer be dropped (by the way, once they're dropped, the only way to get back is to  reboot the router; eventually the router state is such that nothing can connect to it).  Still tends to have signal strength loss over time but at least we're running consistently.  The other problem I'm experiencing is that if I get more than about 30 - 35 feet away, there is a significant decrease in signal strength.
I bought this router for (1)  the gigabyte ports for my wired machines; (2) increased signal strength for my wireless devices at greater distances; and (3) the dual band capability to handle the 5 GHz spectrum as those devices become more prevalent.  Well, 1 out of 3 is pretty pathetic performance for what is a relatively expensive high end router from a  company that until now I had a confidence in their ability to produce technically sound hardware.
I may be way off base here, but based on over 40 years experience in IT, this appears to be part of a larger trend where the bottom line seems to be dicating the rush to market of inadequately tested hardware and software.
Linksys/Cisco -- can you please acknowlege these problems and what the current plan and timetable is to fix.  The E4200 has been in the market place for a while now and I still don't see a firmware upgrade.

  • UCS C240 M4 with Cisco UCS VIC1227 VIC MLOM - Dual Port 10Gb SFP+

    Hi All,
Have a few UCS C-series questions:
If I have a UCS C240 M4 rack server with Cisco UCS VIC1227 VIC MLOM - Dual Port 10Gb SFP+, but do not have fabric interconnect(s), I cannot use the UCS VIC1227 for anything, can I? The VIC ports HAVE to be connected to the FI(s) in order to be integrated with the UCS Manager. There is no local UCS manager software running on the server itself, is there?
It is useless to have this card in the server without the FI(s), isn’t it?
The OS that is going to be installed on the server is not going to see those 10GB ports on the VIC, isn’t it?
And if there are no additional PCIe NICs installed in the server, I am stuck with the two 1GB onboard NICs, is that correct?
    Any input is appreciated.

do not have fabric interconnect(s), I cannot use the UCS VIC1227 for anything, can I?
The VIC 1227 can be used to integrate the server with UCSM, but that does NOT mean that is its unique function... the VIC 1227 is a CNA card that can be used whether your server is in standalone mode (no Fabric Interconnects) or integrated with UCSM.
If the server is not connected to a Fabric Interconnect (FI), it still has CIMC (Cisco Integrated Management  Controller) which can be configured by attaching a monitor to the server and a keyboard, press F8 when you see the Cisco logo and then you can configure the IP, subnet, gateway, NIC mode and others... this may help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHQBvwO7pUU

It is useless to have this card in the server without the FI(s), isn’t it?
It is NOT useless to have the card in the server without the FIs, having the servers integrated only allows you to take advantage of the flexibility of Service Profiles but the VIC card still has the same capabilities whether you have an FI or not.
The OS that is going to be installed on the server is not going to see those 10GB ports on the VIC, isn’t it?
    See above

  • Linksys Cisco WVC210 Network Camera - Problem

    Hello Cisco Members,
I have problem with one Linksys Cisco WVC210 Network Camera.
When I Power ON, the PowerLED blinking, other 3 GreenLED light and on LCD Display have nothing.
I make 30 seconds push resset button, 30 seconds power OFF and havent result. When I connect it to
Router with DHCP, this camera can not take IP Address... I do not understand where is a problem with
    this camera.
I write here to get a fix of this problem.
    Regards,
    Vivendi

Try power on and after 90 seconds go to the Browser and type in 192.168.1.99 (assuming you are on the 192.168.1.xx LAN network) and see if you are able to get to the firmware page, if yes try reload the firmware, if you are not then I would recommend returning the product by getting in touch with Cisco's Tech Support and get an RMA number and instructions on returning the product and get a replacement.

  • CISCO XENPAK-10GB-LW (WAN PHY)

    hi,
do you know if installing the CISCO XENPAK-10GB-LW (WAN PHY) you need a SONET/SDH multiplexer or you can connect it directly to the SDH network?
    any document explaining it?
    thanks

The WAN PHY module will appear to your SDH network as a SONET tributary interface. Its signal will need to be carried intact as an OC-192 (approximately 10 Gbps) across the SDH network since it's not a bunch of STS payloads but rather a single 10 Gbps IP stream encapsulated in SONET framing. Other than that, it should be able to feed your SDH network's ADM just fine (given attention to your optical power levels, etc.).
Hope this helps, please rate helpful posts.

  • Linksys / Cisco website continuously broken?

Is the best we can ever expect from Cisco / Linksys is a set of poor web pages which are unintuitively linked to one another, which have broken download for years at a time, and with web services which are down without explanation? Does Linksys / Cisco REALLY want us to think that we don't deserve better? Never mind the horrible security of these devices. Never mind that Cisco / Linksys would rather we throw our older devices in to landfills every time a backdoor is discovered in our devices. Can't you people at LEAST fix your damned web pages and KEEP YOUR WEB SERVER UP so we can at minimum get to the last supported version of the firmware you offer? Look at this problem:https://community.linksys.com/t5/Wireless-Routers/WRT54G2-V1-Firmware-Upgrade-Issue/m-p/606136 That was from January, 2013. Guess what? Going to the same web page for the WRT54G2 to try to download firmware STILL takes one to the download page for the WRT54G, NOT the G2. Where's the page for the G2? It's been a year and a half! Not only that, but homesupport.cisco.com / www.linksysbycisco.com / start.linksys.com are down. What year is it? It's 2015, and Cisco / Linksys can't keep a web server up? I'm sorry that some of the people I support were naive and bought Cisco / Linksys products. It won't happen again.

Thank you. If Cisco has completely finished screwing Linksys, then those links should be removed from the site. Also, there's no reason that start.linksys.com shouldn't work. FYI, http://www.linksys.com/us/ leads here: http://www.linksys.com/us/support-product?pid=01t80000003K7XLAA0  The "Latest Updates" link at the bottom, under "DOWNLOADS", takes people here: http://www.linksys.com/us/support-article?articleNum=148648 That's the page for WRT54G downloads, NOT for WRT54GV2 downloads. Linksys? This problem was reported in 2013.

  • Linksys Cisco SRW248G4P 48-port 10/100 + 4-port Gigabit Switch Help

The switch which is a Linksys Cisco SRW248G4P 48-port 10/100 + 4-port Gigabit Switch, was configured by a contractor which was long ago run off, and the documentation left behind to log into the switch is incorrect. How can we reset this switch so we can configure to the new required settings?
I have attempted to go in through the web browser gui, and no luck logging in via factory default creditials, cannot log in using any of the common admin creditials, nor can we get in via the documented admin name and pw the contractor left.
Attempted ot go in through the console, that doesn't work right at all. Takes 15-20 min before I start even seeing user name or password boxes.  Cannot type a single thing into those boxes.  I have set the hyperterminal to com1,  38400, 8, none, 1, hardware.  It kinda lets me see some of the log in screen, but will not let me type into the username whatsoever.
Logging via web browser I see all the login option but not a single username or pw works. Please if anyone can help, this has been an issue which is now critical.

Hi, My name is Eric Moyers. I am a Network Support Engineer in the Cisco Small Business Support Center.
The settings for connection using Hyperterminal through the Console port should be:
    Bits per second: 38400
    Databits: 8
    Pairity: None
    Stop bits: 1
    Flow Control: None
When you finish configuring the HyperTerminal, the Login screen appears. The first time you open the Console Interface, use the default username admin and leave the password blank and press the Enter key. You can set a password later from the User and Password Settings screen. The Main Menu screen displays six menu choices: System Configuration Menu, Port Status, Port Configuration, PoE Configuration, Help, and Log Out.
User and Password Settings, IP Configuration, File Management, Restore System Default Settings, Reboot System and Back to Main Menu.
To restore the Switch back to the factory default settings, select Restore System Default Setting and press Enter. A confirmation message appears asking Are you sure? [Y/N]. Press the Y key to continue or the N key to cancel the action.
System Configuration Menu options: (Which is where you will need to go) consist of: System Configuration, Management Settings
After pressing Y, at this point reboot your system and it will be back to Factory Fresh.
If you have any questions or this doesn't work, please let me know. I am attachng the Admin Guide for you as well.

  • WRT320N: a URL VPN-server (PPTP/L2TP)

    All,
My ISP has a URL VPN-server for connection to the Internet (vpn.internet.beeline.ru).
I have defined (by ping) one of IP-addresses and have entered it in WRT320N (PPTP).
It works, but it is not always good, since IP-address of server often varies.
It seems to me that to use fixed IP instead of URL - incorrectly. There is other decision?
How correctly to adjust PPTP/L2TP of WRT320N for a URL VPN-server?

I am not familiar with many of VPN and PPTP settings. But can you answer in 2 words CAN I SOMEHOW make my wrt320n use URL instead of IP for pptp server?
And the second question is why does it supplies poor speed when connected through pptp via cable? I have 18 Mbit plan but router seems to give no more than 10-12 Mbit (tested on speedtest.net). When connected directly via PC lan -- test shows full 18 Mbit.

  • Inquiry - Best Linksys/Cisco router for Gaming and Media Streaming?

Help! I live in a two bedroom town home and have an old little Belkin router. I'm switching to a Linksys but I need to know which model is best for my home. I have two sons that share a room and they both play XBox live, usually at the same time. I'm usually using the internet or watching a movie on Netflix with my wife. Sometime both while the boys are playing upstairs. I don't need multiple USB ports or gigabit ports. I wouldn't know what to do with them. I just want something faster than what I have now. We have Time Warner Cable's Roadrunner internet service if that helps.

I would recommend EA4500 as it is a high performance router for home entertainment which is ideal for faster streaming of HD video and music plus multiplayer gaming. Hi, I run my business network on the 192.168.x.x range with a server set as 192.168.2.4 statically. The router is currently connecetd to two DCHP wan connections from my ISP, I'm on a residential consumer plan. It has defaulted to loadblanacing with the second WAN however I want to have the second wan's public IP be used by my server and only the server however I wish for the server to still be on the lan so I can use HYPER-V's brided network connection feature to run VMs on the lan, and I would like their wan connection to be from wan 1... as for the entire lan except the server at
192.168.2.4 Is this possible, I can't seem to get the 1-to-1 NAT to do it?

    Dear Harley,
Thank you for reaching Cisco Small Business Support Community.
One to one NAT would be an option, same and most prefered in my opinion a Port Forwarding configuration since it just opens specific service(s) on the server from the outside.  The problem I see here is the dynamic WAN IP addresses you get from your ISP that if you can at least get the desired one assigned statically would solve the problem, otherwise I see no way to access the server form the internet since its IP address is unknown by the remote client or it just changes all the times.
So you can configure the let's say Port Forwarding following the below document, p. 44, but how do you access to the server if we do not know the dynamic IP address your ISP is giving you at a given time.  I suggest you to contact your ISP and figure out if they can give you the WAN IP's so you can assign them statically to the WAN ports, or find out if by any chance they assign your WAN connection the same public IP's everyt time eventhough they are not typed in the router and figure out what they are so you can use them to access the server remotely using that IP address.
