Linksys E1000 suddenly stopped connecting PPPOE

Hey...I have a Linksys E1000 router just upgrade to the latest 2.1.0.2 firmware...I have a PPPoE connection which used to run smoothly on the router..however off late...suddenly the router stopped connecting..it always shows "connecting" in the status tab of the router page...and eventually says failed to obtain IP address...however when I attach the cable directly into my PC it works just fine.
I also had a word with my internet provider...he's kept the MAC open (or something like that)  so he said that isn't the issue and he keeps saying there must be some issue with the router. However, occasionally the router DOES connect for half hour or so and then just refuses to connect again !..
I'm not sure as to what the problem is...I did see a similar post in the forum with the exact same problem but there was no solution given in that post! Also, all three lights on the router are present when I connect the cable to the router!
Please help!

I believe something is not working well here on the router, I suggest you update the firmware then reset the router (press the reset button) then manually reconfigure it. You may download the firmware from this site, http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/support/routers/E1000

My ipad has suddenly stopped connecting to the intenet via my home wifi system. The settings have notbeen changed. why is this?

The first thing to try is to power down your modem and router for about 30 seconds, then repowering by plugging them back in.
Also, if that doesn't work, on your iPad you can try going into settings/safari/clear history/clear data and cookies.

  • Macbook Pro suddenly stops connecting to wifi

So yesterday, my macbook pro suddenly stopped connecting to any wifi sources at all. Instead after trying to connect, it just gives me the icon with the ! mark, saying that there is no connection made. I've tried multiple routers/sources, and they all don't work. The only reason I'm even connected to the internet right now is through tethering via usb (when I try to make my phone a hotspot, my computer doesn't read it, of course).
Does anyone have any idea why this would happen?

  • Imac suddenly stopped connecting to network

sorry if this topic already exists somewhere. i've been searching these forums for an hour and can't find any useful help on the subject.
we bought our first mac almost 1.5 yrs ago. this beautiful 27" imac worked fine for 1 year and then suddenly stopped connecting to our wireless network. distance to the wireless router isn't an issue. doesn't matter where i move it to in the house, it sees the network, but won't connect anymore. 6 other laptops/video game consoles/pc's all continue to connect w/o a problem. this happened once approx 3 months ago and i figured our old router had kicked the bucket, so i bought a new router and it worked fine for several months and now it's happening again.
i've gone thru all the preliminary steps of unplugging the modem, the router, the imac, and renewing the dhcp but nothing helps. it will work fine if i wire it directly to the router, but i don't want to run a 75ft ethernet cable thru the house.
i'm so frustrated with this supposedly wonderful imac! can anyone help me?

Here's something to think about... I know my AT&T DSL Cable Modem will only allow a certain number of connections. A few years ago that might not have been an issue, but now with wi-fi cells, gaming systems with netflix, other laptops/ipads, you might be exceeding that limit. It could be they are all connected and you don't have a spot on the router.
This might be elementary, but thought I'd throw that out there.

After working perfectly for two years my iTouch has suddenly stopped connecting to my Hub although my desktop computer still connects.  I have tried everything I can think of, including suggestions off Google/You Tube but nothing makes any difference.  Any ideas.  Surely it is not fit for the scrap heap after two years, but is clearly no use as it is.

  • Iphone 4s wifi suddenly stopped connecting to home network

My iphone 4s suddenly stopped connecting to my home wifi 2 weeks ago, now it won't even bring it up on the list of available networks. I have tried resetting network settings, have tried manually connecting but it says "unable to locate network". Why would this all of a sudden start doing this when I have had this phone for over a year. My husbands iphone 4 has no problems whatsoever and connects to our home network just fine so I know it is not the router. This is so frustrating

I'm currently suffering from this problem as well. If you or your husband can get your iPhone open, there may be a screw in the upper antenna area of the iPhone that is loose (this screw grounds the antenna to the chip/mainboard).
    http://www.iphoneshopusa.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/top-shield-iphone4- wifi-problem1.png
It's pointed out in the image above. Many have tightened the screw and said their Wi-Fi optimally again. Having a phone for a year does mean a lot of wear-and-tear: dropping, vibration, heat, all accumulate so that the delicate components inside get knocked around and, in this case, loose. Try this method! (If you can, of course.)
    Good luck!

  • HT1976 iPhone 5 has suddenly stopped connecting to the internet away from home

My iPhone 5 has suddenly stopped connecting to the internet when away from home. It was fine last Wednesday, then on Thursday all I got was 'Safari is no longer connected to the internet'. I cannot use the Messaging, Find my Friends etc.
As far as I know I have not done anything to alter any settings, but I did change my password on Wednesday - which works, so I think that's OK.
Has anyone any idea what is happening?

  • Linksys E1000 continually loses connection

I recently upgraded from a Linksys WRT54G2 that was a dream and gave me no problems at all to a Linksys E1000 that isn't behaving. Every hour or so it loses its PPPoE connection to the internet, so that both wired and wirelessly connected computers lose access. My laptop is also thrown entirely off the wireless network all together.
This is very annoying, as I occasionally play online games where this sort of thing is highly disruptive, and I also remote connect to a desktop at home and work on there and don't like being dropped. Is this something that I'm going to have to wait for a firmware release to fix or is there something I can do now to fix it?

    One possible Solution to this:
In the wireless settings, the one where you can choose Mixed mode b/g/n etc,  make sure that the channel is set to a fixed number that works with all of your devices,  i.e. do not set it to Auto.    you can have auto or 20 mhz or 40 mhz for the channel frequency setting but dont set the channel number to auto.  from random trials i chose 5 as it worked with almost every wifi devices i have. its best not to go above single digits. I believe this is also true for many other routers out there. if you wanna know why you can read on below.
This is the cause of all the problems in this thread i believe.and this following solution worked for me every time, hope it works for you too:
every now and then i used to have the wifi router disappeared and couldnt even find the SSID, only ethernet connected computers can connect with the router.
one time i realised that my computer has the connection but my nexus s doesnt, couldnt even see the SSID, so i looked up on the internet and found stuffs about the different specs of wifi chips and what they have to do with the channels.
Apparently some wifi chips have different channel settings so there may be cases where one device still has the connection and the other couldnt see the same wifi network.
So thats where I went to isolate the problem on my router settings testing all the different settings i could to get my nexus s to see the SSID, finally it was the channel numbers lower than 10 that did the trick.
hope that helps anyone out there before they think that this is a more complicated issue ^^"

  • Imac and Macbook Pro suddenly stopped connecting to my wireless network

I am having the strangest problem. I've had a linksys router for years and my network has worked fine. I have a 2008 iMac, a new Mac Book Pro, Xbox 360, and a PS3 connected to it. Yesterday, the Apple products stopped connecting to the linksys, however the Xbox and PS3 connected fine. I thought it was my router being the problem so I went to Apple Store and bought an airport express to just set that up as my primary router. I could not set it up the normal way wirelessly as neither my iMac or MBP would pick it up via the Airport Utility tool. I had to hardwire it to my iMac to get it set up. It seemed to not be working however the green light did eventually come on. My xbox connected to it fine, however the iMac and MBP would not connect. Both did end up connecting but only for a short time and now neither can find the Airport Express. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what my problem is? It just doesnt make sense that both mac computers stopped picking up the linksys at the same time, and neither will really pick up the Airport express either. I'm just so distraught over this because I had everything working fine such as sharing files, wireless printer, Apple TV, etc.

Hi there, I have exactly the same problem, one year with imac and a few months ago my wireless network disconnected and kept disconnecting and connecting on and off, it's not the Internet because laptop and other aps are ok
Today I tried contacting Virginmedia to see if they could help and they told they are not trained for mac! Anyway they suggested to try to use the "renew DHCP lease" button in the TCP/IP page in network settings and it seems it is working better now, lets see if it lasts...

  • My iPad suddenly stopped connecting to my home network. It shows the network to. Choose from but there is no IP address or other information on the network page. It is set on DHCP and proxy is set at auto. Do I have another setting wrong?

My iPad suddenly stopped working with my home network.  It shows the network to choose from but will not connect. When I look at details in that network it does not show IP address or any other info for the network.  Setting is on DHCP and http proxy is set on auto. Network is active and can connect on wife's iPad and other home computers.  Do I have another setting wrong?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Ipad mini (original one) suddenly stopped connecting to Wi-fi

    Dear all
My daughter has an ipad mini, the first version that came out.....its just over 2 years old.
We have had no problem connecting to wi-fi.....but it's suddenly stopped since coming back from holiday.
I did a backup before going away.
Since returning it just won;t connect. My other daughters ipad mini connects, as does my ipad2, my iphone  and the sky box, laptop etc etc.
I've reset the ipad, reset the router, upgraded the ipad to the latest version, I've restored to factory setting, reset network settings. I've also upgraded the Firmware on the router......
The only thing I haven't done which appears on a lot of the discussions is 'Forget this network', because I don't have that option when I go into the details of the router in 'Wi-fi' settings.
Can anybody help me further or so you think this is a take it to the Genius Bar job......

  • Why did my iPhone suddenly stop connecting to my home wi-fi network?

I have had the phone for about a week.  It connected to my home wi-fi network perfectly.  Yesterday, I suddenly lost connection and when I went to rejoin the network, it took me several tries and various methods recommended by other forums before it would finally connect.  Today the same thing happened, after working perfectly fine for the first part of the day.  Except now, I can't get it to rejoin at all.  Just wondering if anyone has ideas as to what the problem might be, before I contact technical support.

By the way, I didn't have any software updates, nor did I change any settings prior to this happening.
